Fitness, nutrition, awareness, and discipline are not just words, but tools. The human body is an amazing machine. A woman's body is a culmination of everything she has ever eaten and all of the physical activity she has ever done. Women are constantly being pressured about how they look. This book was written to help women everywhere understand their bodies and what they are capable of, instead of absorbing the misinformation that surrounds them. Finally, Díaz wants readers to know how amazing it feels to nourish their bodies with nutritious foods and to keep the body moving. She has consulted with nutritional and medical experts as well as experts in science and psychology to gather the important information in this book. Chapter 1
The nutrients in the food one consumes guides how cells develop, grow, and thrive. Human cells are living structures made of fat and protein, and they use oxygen to change nutrients from what one eats into energy. This is why it is so important to treat one's cells well by consuming the most nutritious foods possible. Nutrition is worth one's time and attention because good nutrition fills the body with energy. To be healthy is to have a body that is working at its full potential and a mind that is clear, happy, and productive...
First of all, I read the whole version of "The Body Book" by Cameron Diaz and there is no way that a 30 minute summary would be enough time to allot to this read. Second, I know there are a lot of skeptics out there stating that this is just another book "written" by a celebrity as a way to add to their credentials, but after reading it for myself I do not believe for a second that this applies to Cami D.
I thought this book was motivational and fun, just like Diaz herself. No matter what she is doing or who she is doing it with, Cameron seems to be having the time of her life and in this book she shares her secret; simply eat well and move often! No schedules, no diet plans, just real information on your body, nutrition, and the importance of taking time for your health. On the last page Diaz writes: "Part of taking responsibility for your health is being kind, loving, and supportive to yourself. Part of becoming disciplined is encouraging yourself to get up and keep going. There's a balance to achieve: you need to keep yourself accountable, without beating yourself up if things aren't exactly right all of the time." Great sentiment and words to live by!
Worth reading to a certain extent. I found it kind of motivating. I even learnt some new things. Depending on you background (what do you know about healthy living, food and fitness habits, etc.), it might be a good piece of information presented in a simple, understandable and funny manner. However, read selectively, as not everything is exactly true (e.g. recommendations to replace milk with soy milk without mentioning the health dangers related to the GMO origin of most of the soy and soy products currently on the market). Anyhow, made me feel good :)
This has become my go to bible of all woman issues. I am in awe of her ability to breakdown nutrition, the female anatomy, fitness and the mind in easy to understand language with a tough of humor. I was particularly impressed with the structure and organization of her chapters. It is an easy read the chapter you need or I would strongly encourage the reading of the whole book.
This book was very well written, and summarized. Cameron Diaz just has her name on it, but probably had very little to do with writing the book. It's a great book for younger girls just starting to establish healthy eating habits, I wish I would have had a book like this when I was younger. That being said anyone can use the tools this book gives for healthy eating. The only thing I didn't like is there is a whole chapter on sugar and how bad it is for you, but Cameron says she has no problem with sugar and it kind of put me off reading about it.

This book is better for my 15 year old daughter to whom all this information will be relatively new and the reading style easy. however....I can't get her to read it. its a very good book. Just at my age, I have already been exposed to all that she is teaching and therefore found myself disinterested and disengaged from rushing through the book. I do highly recommend it though for probably most of america.
Being the medical field and a regular reader of health and wellness magazines, there's nothing here I don't already know. The information was presented in an orderly manner that makes it easy for the reader to browse and reread. I was expecting something different and admittedly, terrible output from Cameron Diaz. I'm glad to that was disproved.
I read the full version and enjoyed it. It is a simple layman's approach to nutrition, exercise, and mind-body connection. Although not 100% accurate, it's pretty close and I love that her passion for living, and healthy living, comes through. You can hear her talking as you read which is fun! I applaud her efforts to make nutrition and health simple and accessible.
Overall, I loved her message of basically eating whole foods and moving to take care of yourself. But I think she tried to cover too much, too fast and it felt like a lot of scientific information at a high level, rather than going in depth with a few topics. Worth the read, but not my favorite health book.
This wasn't a 30 minute summary but the full version isn't available to choose on Goodreads for some reason. Anyways, this was a wonderfully written and positive, inspiring book by Cameron Diaz. I learned a lot about nutrition and exercise. As someone who is currently into working out and trying to make better choices when it comes to food, this book was definitely a great tool for me.
This was an easy read, but was the quick version. The full book probably has more details and stories, but I didn't read it. Based on this book...there wasn't anything that I didn't know but a young person would find it useful or someone that would be learning the benefits of their food, body, etc.
A really informative book on anatomy, physiology, diet, exercise and mindset. A guidebook on how to treat your body with health, goodness & kindness. Would be valuable for most women to learn about getting healthy and what their body needs.
My expectations were low going into it, but I really enjoyed it! Cameron goes through everything from vitamins & minerals, to bones & muscles, to stress management & appetite in an endearing conversational tone. Like you were chatting with a friend over lunch.
This book was well worth listening to from the library. I'm not sure if I would have bought it. I did learn some things and it did motivate me. I am always interested in health and wellness! I would recommend it.
Such a great insight and well connected thoughts- as in the old songs- the hand bone is connected to the ... Cameron connects the food and the nutrition or lack of to the holistic body and health. Re-reading -
I read the whole version and even though I loved her insight and her message to the women, I did not feel that I learned anything new about the concept. The book is like a big motivational speech though. Kudos to Diaz.
I loved reading this book. It talks about nutrition, fitness and even your mind. The book is inspiring and fun to read. I liked reading about nutrition and the importance of fitness.
