The Devil Wears Baccarat 2 : An Interracial Romance

Rate this book
From the day I was born, my fate was sealed—to take over as the godfather of the Romanian mafia. I’ve fought too hard, killed too many, and sacrificed more than I can count to let something as trivial as love stand in my way. Ari Taylor will be my wife. She doesn’t know it yet, but her fate is already written in blood—she’ll be my queen, whether she likes it or not.

Her – Constantin Bucur is tall, dangerous, and smells like temptation wrapped in baccarat. But none of that matters. He’s completely unhinged. If he thinks he can barge into my life and force me into his world, he has another thing coming. I’ll burn it all to the ground before I let him control me. But the real question is—can I resist him when the devil himself is determined to claim me?

In "The Devil Wears Baccarat II" by Jatoria C., a well-written and tightly woven African American dark love story, the tale picks up right where part one left off. If you're a fan of rich and unhinged Alpha men and second chance love stories, this one is for you. As their worlds collide, secrets unravel, and the line between love and obsession blurs—will Ari fall deeper into the darkness, or will she escape before it's too late?

Author with great potential

****Spoilers****
The story has potential but some things are unrealistic and the content shows lack of research. I understand you are to suspend believe but you don’t just drown someone and do CPR and things are instantly normal again. Also as a RN does not buy a practice and open a practice. They cannot diagnose or prescribe. My biggest issue was the monotone and the flow of the sentences. Just didn’t seem natural. Everyone spoke in the same tone using urban slang(FYI black female here). Almost like I was back in Brooklyn listening to the corner boys. Romanians don’t speak that way. One minute Constatin is speaking a few Romanian words, then the next using words like “buss a n*t.” I finished the book because of love alpha males and dark romances but I was too distracted by all misfit words. It seems to me that the writer wrote in the tone she speaks instead of separating herself from the writing. Do research on how different characters from different cultures and socioeconomic classes would speak.

This book wasn’t as good as the first book, but it was still funny as hell. It was still dark romance, got a little bit deeper into the mafia organization, and a little bit was spent on their relationship. I didn’t really feel like they had as much chemistry as Alexandur and Kenya, but it was OK. I love that the author gives the two MC‘s inner dialogues, and they are so funny and realistic.

Insane!

The Devil Wears Baccarat Two did not disappoint! I thought no one was crazier than Alexander’s nutty behind, but Constatin said, “Wait a second, hold my knife.” This man was a certified psychopath! Ari didn’t stand a chance. He said he wanted her, and it was a wrap after that. I was honestly scared for her because Jatoria definitely plays on the dark part of this romance, but I loved every second of this. I was on edge so many times. The first time Constatin came to her house, I literally gasped out loud. This was a good time all the way around, and I can hardly wait for Roman’s book. I think I know who his love interest is.

YES YES YES AND YES! This is the book that has officially made me love a dark romance book. When I say I ate this up with a biscuit!

This dark romance is definitely NOT for everyone and I would NOT recommend this be the book you dip your toe in the genre with AT ALL lol But having now read quite a few, myself — This did EVERYTHING it came to do, baby!

Constanin… just yes, okay lol Dare I say my first white book man?! lol (And don’t judge because if you read the genre, IYKYK!)

I was wishing it was longer.

If you ever want to know just how unstable I am and what my ideal type of dark delicious romance is, look no further.. Tori had to pen this one with me in mind! I was kicking, screaming and giggling while reading this. Ari and Constantin will live rent free in my mind for a while. Finding someone's crazy that matches your crazy is the goal. Just tell me where I need to sign for my own personal Nasu?
someone to tell me "You are my heart. You control my dark soul. Without you, I am just gray matter."

If you see me randomly smiling and looking off into a far distance anytime soon just know I'm thinking about this book!

Outside of their wild romance, there is a lot of backstory between Ari’s traumatic childhood experience that is often times brushed under the rug to Constantin’s legacy pressure manifesting in unhealthy ways. This book is heavy and contains plenty of triggers.

DNF. After somewhat enjoying the first book I began this book with an open mind and it failed me early on but I decided to push through and at least finish it, it’s not like it’s a super long book, but I couldn’t even stomach it till the end. The flow of the story is poor, the fmc put up zero fight and when she did try to put up resistance it came off pretense like she wanted to say “I tried to fight against him but love prevailed” but that wasn’t the case at all. She conformed too easily for me and the mmc wasn’t all that either to be doing the most behind. I probably would have enjoyed this book back in junior high but the grown me can’t get with it. It’s a no.

Jatoria C. Does It Again

This book picks up right where #1 left off and it is sooo good. I love these stories and the interracial relationships and marriages. This is a true testament that not always is your perfect match someone who is sweet or kind. They might just be a dark soul needing light💡.

The second book was better than the first. Ari's reactions in the second book were more in line with what I was expecting from Kenya in the first book. Constantin had Ari all the way f^€%ed up. I liked that she didn’t let him walk all over her and just do whatever he wanted. The office scene was hilarious; she ran out of there like her @&$ was on fire. Lol!

This man, this man this man!

Constatin did whatever he wanted to do and dared anyone to disagree! People stepped out of his way and never gave him any push back until he met Ari!

Yes, their relationship started in the most unconventional way..meaning he made it happen and she had to just fall in line. But Ari wanted to show him that she wasn't some shrinking violet and boy did she show him.

These two were like oil and water and just did not mix well, at all. But, soon things started to change. Will this be a love connection or are they just destined to be twisted up in drama forever?

Gotta read it to find out!

My initial thought that as this series went on that the siblings were just going to get more and more unhinged was without a doubt correct. Constatin was even less graceful than his brother when it came to dating. There was no such thing for Constatin. He saw Ari...made a decision Ari was going to be his...and she had no choice but to fall in line. I'm not sure why he continued to shock me as a character when I was already made aware of just how off his rocker he was.

This man had no type of chill whatsoever. He showed up to Ari's house to let her know she was going to be his wife and she had no choice but to agree. To show her just how serious he was he basically put her in a situation where she had to be brought back to life to realize her choice was him or no choice at all. Just because Ari had a somewhat strong desire to stay in the land of the living doesn't mean she didn't give Constatin a run for his money every chance she got.

I found myself even texting one of my book besties at one point in the book to basically say "I know this man didn't just do what I think I read that he did" lol...he in fact did do that very thing... WILD! How is Roman's brand of unhinged going to top Constatin? I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Ooooooohhhhh

Thus part of the story was more of a slower pace but it was still entertaining and took hours to finish...it started off rock and then got deep with a mix of sad before the aha moment of love. I will say that Constantin was not my fav and the live wasn't explosive like book 1 but I am still going to be looking for book 3 and hopefully we getsome full circle moment.

Meh

Not a very good book. Although the author did provide a trigger warning. The storyline had potential but was never fleshed out. Too much time is spent trying to prove these men are ruthless. Instead, they come across as needing serious psychological help. I can't recommend this book. However, others may find it entertaining.

***Arc Review***

Rating: 4.25⭐️
Spice: 2 🌶️

Tori sent me this arc at 7:33 pm last night and by 12:33 am, I was in her DM’s because I was done and needed to talk lol. After reading book 1, I was itching to reach book 2. Please read the content/trigger warnings as some topics discussed might be hard to read.

Ari and Constantin didn’t disappoint. Constantin was insane like Alexandur, but less than Roman (can’t wait for book 3 bc that epilogue had me stunned). All these brothers aren’t right in the head but so damn hot. 🤣 Constantin needed a wife after being betrayed in order to be the head of the Romanian mafia, decided Ari (his sister-in law’s bff) was gonna be that person and all hell broke loose. This wasn’t love at first sight, but the man did love his wife, even when he may have wanted to unalive her in the beginning. The banter with these two kept me laughing. The man also was a giver. 😈

Ari- I was worried for her in book 1 but she was the perfect companion for this man! Her crazy was my kinda carrying on. Constantin thought he was getting a calm nurse for a wife and she showed him there will be consequences to his coming in and demanding that she be his wife.

The backstory on each was hard to read. Again, check trigger warnings but Tori did a great job. Two of my favorite things she did in this book was show how even a mafia boss could have mental health issues. Another thing she did was touch on a topic that happens too often and is covered up in the Black community.

There were some things I wish this book had more of but overall, it was a great read. If you like unhinged men and the women who learn to love them, READ THIS. 🤣

Thank you Tori for the opportunity to arc read in exchange for an honest review.

sick twisted and kinda addicted

Okay y’all first things first, let’s start with a PSA: this book is not for the faint of heart. If death, dominance, and some ahem spicy rough moments make you clutch your pearls, go ahead and put this one back on the shelf and read you a little something soft. But if you live for dark mafia romance, baby this might be your next guilty pleasure.

This is the second book in the series and full transparency, I couldn’t get through the first one. Not because it was bad, but because the male lead had my son’s name and, well, ew. But luckily, this one right here? It stands on its own. Constantin and Ari are the toxic, chaotic, wild pair you lowkey wanna judge but highkey can’t stop reading about. Their love is twisted, a little toxic, and somehow… delicious.

Constantin is the mafia boss manipulative, ruthless, and fine as hell and he tricks Ari into marrying him. She’s minding her business, trying to breathe, and this man said, “You’re mine now.” She don’t even believe they’re really married until he damn near unalives her and sis was like oh, word? But don’t worry Ari ain’t no pushover. She gets her lick back, and when they finally start working together instead of trying to kill each other, it’s fireworks, baby. Big boom.

The story does have some flat spots, I ain’t gon’ lie, and I definitely wish there were a few more chapters to wrap it all up nice and messy. But it’s a fast read, and lately, that’s my vibe short, spicy, and a little unhinged.

If you want something dark, obsessive, and a little morally gray (okay, maybe more like charcoal black), grab this book. Then call your therapist, just in case.

Rating: 4/5 messed-up mafia hearts.
Spice Level: Tabasco meets gasoline.

* series rating: 7/10

I read these books based off reviews along with the title. I really didn’t know what to expect reading this series, sometimes I just dive into books without reading the synopsis. So this series was an interracial dark romance that most definitely entailed dark spice & some shit I would’ve never been able to prepare myself for 😅😅.

This series was very fast paced, each story talks about 3 Romanian brothers in the Mafia and each one of them forced their wives to be their wives or they were going to die, pretty intense 😮‍💨😮‍💨. I would have liked if there was more to each story but I did enjoy reading them. The one that shocked me the most turned out to be the one I enjoyed the most which was part 3 *Romans pyromania ass & his sociopathic wife Brittany 🥵🥵*.

Alexandur, Constantin & Roman are not the type of men you want to cross paths with and are not to be played with because they will not hesitate to kill.

Not much spice but it but when it hit that shit was muy caliente, was definitely off the charts with the explicit scenes. Overall I would give this series a 7/10. This series was a very quick easy and pleasing read if you’re into freaky dark romance 🤪.

Crazy love

Being the oldest Constant in had to step up before his time fortunately his father had been preparing him and his brothers. At his brother and Kenya's wedding something came over him and he knew he had found one solution to one problem he was facing. The way he went about it was unconventional but in the end things worked themselves out for the best, he was finally able to locate one of the culprit that took his father away and.left him with a limp, it was hard for him after he handle it but it needed to be done.
All the brothers seem to have some type of issue where as their secret monster appears, Constrains monster either would self harm or harm others at least he is able to tell when he is near that point telling those around him to leave him be that's why the wine cellar was off limit to Ari.
At first she fought the relationship she was abruptly thrown into but as time went on she had grown to love her new husband and what made her fall that much more in love was when he brought her super hero home to her.
Baby brother Roman is another special case, when they captured Elizabeth and she told Constrain about their scent he knew one of his brothers were responsible for taking Tom, the torture Roman is giving him only brings Roman peace but I hope he takes his brothers advice and seek help, can't wait to read his story

This was such an interesting read. I genuinely enjoyed the writing style and the way the story was built. Even though I accidentally started the series from Book 2 (oops), I was able to catch up pretty quickly on all the major things. Props to the author for weaving in enough context without making it feel like a recap!

Now… let’s talk about Constantine (who, by the way, has the hardest name ever to remember or spell 😭 like girl, give us a break hhhhhh). He was psychotic from the very beginning. I kept questioning myself, the author, and the ghosts in my room with every wild thing he pulled, but honestly? I kinda forgive him. The man’s been through a lot of trauma, betrayal, and more emotional damage than a Greek tragedy.

As for Ari our queen. Her personality is top-tier. She’s strong, takes no one’s crap, and her revenge?? I was cackling and cheering her on the whole time. I LOVED her energy.

The book did feel a little rushed in some parts. A few more details and dialogue could’ve helped certain scenes hit harder, but it didn’t take away much from the overall quality. It was still a fast, engaging, and satisfying read, and now I’m definitely excited to continue the series!

For me, I loved how Constantin's character developed! I'm sure he was the toughest cookie to break and Ari did that unknowingly. It was truly a relief to see him soft and vulnerable and not always some tough and closed off! Ari may have not wanted to be married to him, but he made a believer out of her! I loved how he showed love to the ones she loved the most! That definitely gained him points with me! Childhood trauma is such a dangerous thing because we never know where or how it would shape us into adulthood. Thankfully, Constantin was able to get the help he needed and as the head he saw fit for Roman to get help to. Kofi blended right in and I love that for him! I honestly thought it was Alexandur that had taken Tom after Elizabeth said she smelled the cologne. Roman always so quiet, but like the old folks say, those are the ones that do the most damage! Kenya and Alexandur got their happily ever after. Ari and Constantin got their happily ever after. Lord, please heal Roman so he too can get his happily ever after! Great read

4.3 ⭐️ stars for Constantin and Ari’s story. It’s just something about the eldest brother. The Nasu title fits Constantin well. With great power comes great responsibility. He’s everything you would expect in a leader (dominating, calculating, cutthroat, loyal, etc). Just like Alexandur (the middle brother) he’s unhinged and has his flaws. There were times in the book where I personally wanted to slap the hell out of Constantin!

I liked, no I loveddd Ari for Constantin. My girl humbled him a few times! Ari was no pushover and I respected that. The Queen title fits her perfectly. It took her some time to truly accept her position and it was REALISTIC. If I was in her shoes I would’ve reacted the same way to certain situations Constantin put her through. But once she accepted her role she glided into it perfectly! I don’t blame her because Constantine may be crazy like NUTS but he knows what he’s doing 😏. THE SPICE WAS 😳🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. I was clutching my pearls EVERYTIME.

P.S JATORIA I NEEDED MORE OF CONSTANTIN AND ARI’s story. It felt too short.

Constantin just proved that the Bucur Brothers are certainly a group of unhinged men, and he definitely surpassed his brother when it came to securing a wife in the craziest way.

His father's murder made the journey of him becoming the Nasu faster than anticipated, and he didn't have time to figure out how to get a new bride after being hurt and betrayed by the woman who was originally supposed to fulfill the role.

This man tells his sister-in-law's best friend she will be his wife and have his baby, and he meant that sh*t. Ari became his wife, and she had no damn clue she was a wife. However, she gave that man a run for his money and did not give a damn that he was the head of the mafia; she wasn't going to be in a meaningless marriage even if she was forced into the relationship.

This follow-up presents again the storyline of a man with a tough exterior learning to love and be soft for his woman, and I loved it. They both unexpectedly fell in love and ended up having a loving and genuine marriage.

whew!

Jatoria C. did it again with The Devil Wears Baccarat 2. This sequel had me hooked from page one — full of emotion, chaos, and chemistry that refuses to let go. Every chapter felt like a tug-of-war between pain and passion, love and revenge, and I was here for all of it.

What I love most is how real the emotions felt. The characters are flawed, raw, and human — the kind that stay in your mind long after you finish reading. You can feel every bit of the tension, the heartbreak, and that dangerous love that keeps you turning the pages even when your heart’s racing.

This isn’t your soft romance — it’s dark, it’s messy, it’s intense — but it’s also beautifully written. The loyalty, betrayal, and redemption arcs hit deep. If you thought Book 1 was wild, Book 2 turns the temperature all the way up.

I laughed, I got mad, and yes, I even had to close the book a few times just to breathe. That’s how you know a story’s got you

Jatoria, Jatoria she don’t miss!!!

Yes, yes, yes! This is how you do a part 2 of a book! Let’s get right into it. Ari thought she was going to play in Constantin’s face! From the moment they met, she was calling him crazy, not taking him seriously. But he stood firm in his craziness. Constantin said, "You will be my wife and have my kids," and he meant every single word. I love seeing both of their growth, and Ari standing up for herself. She wasn’t just taking what he dished out—she had that fire in her too. The way Constantin grew in his love and matured as a husband was impressive. Both sets of parents were amazing; they didn’t interfere in their kids' business, just provided love and support. My only gripe is that I wanted this story to be longer. I felt it should have been closer to 300 pages. Now, where is Roman and his crazy self?

Crazy is NOT the word!!!

Now I honestly thought NO one can be as bad as Alexandur, but I was completely wrong because that Constatin was of a different breed!

Honestly didn’t think Ari would completely fall for him but she proved me wrong! I was with her all the way cause that Constatin was something else, but to know she grew to love him was amazing! Everyone deserves to being loved and experience being IN love!

Now the one thing I enjoyed most was the topic of mental health and the depth of it that was expressed in this book! It’s need to be in the forefront because it’s real these days!

Thank you Queen for this read as it was amazing! Look forward to what you offer next!
