With a biological weapon poised to be sold to the most dangerous international terrorists, Dr. Savannah Dawson embarks on another critical assignment, this time in a city known for its extravagance: Singapore.

Alongside her trusted friend and fellow operative Lacey, Savannah faces multiple challenges including a natural disaster, the whirlwind arrival of her crew of besties, and her demanding work caring for patients at their most vulnerable moments. Each of these elements threaten to derail their mission.

Despite these trials, Savannah edges closer to the crucial information the CIA needs to stop a plot that threatens global security. Moreover, the relentless demands of espionage test her ability to keep her work hidden while maintaining her integrity as a physician.

But above all, Savannah must stay focused on capturing a wealthy and powerful adversary willing to drag the entire world into chaos and destruction.

I recently read, Reassigned by Shayla C. Freeman, and I have to admit, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the experience. Having never encountered this author's work before, I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but the book quickly proved that Freeman knows how to weave a gripping story that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish.
It is worth noting that this is actually the second book in the Dr. Dawson series. While I initially wished I had read the first installment to get the full backstory, I never felt lost or confused. The narrative did an excellent job of acquainting me with the cast of characters and explaining the context of how they arrived at their current situation. The story stands firmly on its own, though it definitely sparked a strong interest in the events that preceded this volume.
The absolute standout element of this novel is the setting. The story takes place in Singapore, and the atmosphere is simply amazing. The writing style is incredibly descriptive, painting such a vivid picture that it feels like being physically transported to the location. The details were so specific and immersive that I actually found myself pausing to search for locations on YouTube, just to see the real-life places mentioned in the text and compare them to the scenes in the book.
Beyond the scenery, the character dynamics were a highlight. The main protagonists felt grounded and relatable—the kind of people I could see myself hanging out with in real life. On the flip side, the antagonists were formidable; the villains definitely "gave villain," raising the stakes and adding necessary tension. The plot itself was believable and fast-paced, creating a race to figure it all out alongside the team without giving away where the mystery leads.
So, why the 4.5 rating instead of a perfect 5? While the book delivered on action, drama, and intrigue, it was hindered slightly by editing issues. There were several typos scattered throughout, including a section where a character was referred to by the wrong name entirely. While these errors were the only negatives in an otherwise great experience, they were noticeable enough to mention.
Despite the small editing hiccups, the ending made it clear that there is much more to come for this crew. I am now planning to go back and read the first book to see how it all began, and I will definitely be waiting to see what happens next.

An awesome book

Excellent story telling, so exciting. The reassignment was even better than the assignment! Enjoyed both books. I truly hope the next one in the series arrives very soon.
