One growly Alpha, one oblivious human Omega, and one Omega hunt.

Jamie
My life effing sucks.
First I come down with the worst case of flu ever, then there's that giant, creepy dude who won't take no for an answer. And as if that's not enough, I get abducted! Or, I think so. It might be a fever dream because running through the woods and being chased by monsters just doesn't sound like something I'd do.

Asher
He's a human Omega.
That in itself is a shock. But mostly, this just isn't the way I imagined I'd claim my mate, not that I have much choice about it, now do I? The moon is up, and the Hunt is about to start. Soon, the woods will be crawling with Alphas, ready to hunt down an Omega like they're nothing but prey. I have to reach my mate first, the alternative is unthinkable.

This is the first book in the series of the Black Creek Pack Omegas. The story takes place in an omegaverse, semi-shifter, mpreg universe that isn't kind to Omegas. Each book follows a new couple and their way to their HEA or HFN, but there's an overreaching story arc that will continue in the following books.

This is the 2nd edition of the book. The book has been edited and content added to bring more cohesiveness to the overall story.

This series is meant for 18+ readers since it contains lots and lots - really, there's a ton of it! - of highly explicit descriptions of sexual encounters between two men. Content warnings include: Kidnappings, violent death, blood, biting, and knotting. You'll also find extreme size differences, possessiveness, growly Alphas, and snarky Omegas.

Jay's an introvert and a weirdo who has always preferred the company of books over people. Pair that with a dirty mind and a brain that won't quit making up stories and you have Jay L. North.

Jay has always been a voracious reader, which is probably how most writers start out. In Jay's case, they began writing their own stories at a young age. When they couldn't find a book that suited their fancy they simply wrote it themselves - with varying results.
Then they grew up, got a proper job, and almost forgot about their joy of writing.
Only when they hit a wall after years and years of stress and an unhealthy work environment did they reassess their priorities and take up writing once again.
And with a truck full of mental health issues, their stories are meant as pure escapism. They write spice and steam, and they choose to leave the profound and angst-y to others.

They live in the far north of the world where the winters are harsh and the forests are deep. They live in an old castle with their family which, apart from a few humans, also includes three Golden Retrievers and a small fire dragon. They spend their days happily reading (or writing) by the fire or walking in the woods.

Human Omega was short but fun read. We have Jamie, who is homeless and works as a bartender. He has no family and is trying to make ends meet. One night while he's working, he spots a group of men leering at him, and one accosts him in the washroom. He's saved by Ash, the Alpha of the region. Ash picks up on his scent and knows that this boy is his mate. Jaime has been dealing with a low-grade fever and has been feeling a bit off, but he soon learns when he's kidnapped by rouge alphas for the "Omega Hunt" that he's a human Omega in heat.

I enjoyed this story. I picked up the ARC because I liked the premise and wanted to read a new high heat omegaverse story. I can confidently say that this story delivered on that front.

I found the world the author created to be interesting. We have a world in which there are "Weres", not wolf shifters. It's a secret world within the normal human world, and Jaime finds himself pulled into it. Asher is the Alpha of the region and has to deal with council members trying to bring back archaic laws that oppress Omega and allow things like Omega hunting in his lands.

Jaime honestly took things in stride despite one day living a normal life to becoming the pregnant mate to the Alpha the next day. There are lots of steamy heat sex and mating scenes! The pregnancy isn't covered in depth, but we get a birthing scene at the end.

The story was fast paced, and could feel a bit dizzying trying to keep track of what was going on plot wise and who was who. I normally do not care about typos or small grammar mistakes, so for me to be distracted by it was a lot, sadly. I would say this book needs more editing, it will make the reading experience much better.

Overall it had a solid premise and I did enjoy it. If you like the classic Alpha and Omega dynamics, knotting, heat sex and mpreg this book got you covered. I read it in one sitting that's how engrossed I was despite the little issues I had. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Skimmed after 61% but overall, it wasn't bad. It just could have been shorter. The whole "can claim my mate only on full moons, so I'm going to NOT claim him even though I empregnated him already," thing made the last 2/3 of this book a bit tedious.

We did get an assbaby, though, so quarter of a star for that.

It was alright even though Jamie was a little too quick to accept mpreg and the fact that he was an omega.

I’ll be honest, I was a little frustrated at first with how thin the plot was (I’m talking barely there) but eventually I let it go and allowed myself to enjoy the smut which wasn’t too badly written, though I would have liked a little more detail.

This book was an interesting take on the a/b/o verse. Here Weres do not fully shift into wolves; they take on lupine aspects like larger physical bodies and reproductive organs. In this universe, Omegas are rare and highly sought after, but traditionally they are subjects and pretty much owned by Alphas. There is a rift within the Were society between older traditionalist Weres, who want to keep the status quo and bring back older, barbaric customs, and the younger generation, who wants to move into the future and create a more equitable society.

The story starts on the eve of an old barbaric custom; an omega hunt. During the hunt, Alphas hunt and forcibly claim kidnapped Omegas.

Jamie is a human who works a bar frequented by Weres, and on the night before the hunt, he is accosted by what he doesn't realize is an Alpha in the bathroom. He manages to escape the bathroom, and he runs into Asher, the local pack Alpha who captivates him, and Asher is also drawn to Jamie. Asher almost gets into an altercation with the Alpha, who accosted Jamie, and finds out that a council elder invited the Alpha and his pack into Black Creek territory to run an omega hunt. Asher is surprised and upset to learn that an omega hunt has been planned on his territory.

Jamie finishes his shift and goes to sleep in his car because he is unhoused. He feels like he is catching a cold, and he wraps himself into his sleeping bag and is trying to get some sleep when his car is broken into and is abducted. We find out that Jamie is a rare human Omega which is why the Alpha came onto him in the bathroom. We find out that he is going into heat, which he does not understand. He was abducted to add another Omega to the hunt.

When the omegas are let out to begin running for the hunt, Asher recognizes Jamie as his mate and joins the hunt. The first encounter between Asher and Jamie is definitely dubcon because Asher realizes that Jamie believed the whole situation was a dream and could not consent to the claim, so he did not claim him.

The story has dark elements, but the plot does not dwell on them, and I wish the author fleshed out the story a bit more by exploring those elements. Jamie is snarky and doesn't take shit from anyone. Asher is a very progressive Alpha who sees the value of other designations of Weres, like Betas and Omegas, in leadership.

The book was very spicy and is a good read for folks fond of fated mates, knotting, and mpreg.

Thank you to GRR for an ARC copy; this is my honest review.

Quick, high heat, omegaverse read with mpreg.
Jamie and the alpha quickly forge a bond and there is never really any danger that Jamie won't be claimed.
I'd be interested in reading the rest of the series

A Joyfully Jay review.

Human Omega is the first book in Jay L. North’s Black Creek Pack series. It’s set in the present day in rural Idaho and focuses on the pack of werewolves. Note, the werewolves in this universe do not shift fully into wolves, rather they take on lupine aspects like larger physical bodies and sexual endowments when feeling intense emotions. In addition to this shift in werewolf dynamics, the omega part of this universe allows male omegas to give birth. In other words, this is an mpreg story all the way.

I found North’s take on mpreg interesting. This facet of the lore is well detailed, albeit a little little puzzling.

As far as pacing goes, I thought North did a splendid job keeping me interested both in the romance between Jamie and Asher and in the larger conflict between Asher and the two groups who want to uphold patriarchal, archaic traditions.

Interesting Spin on Fated Mates

This isn't a long story. It was a fun read but there were also a few things that threw the story off here and there for me. I am still interested in seeing where this series goes from here though.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Despite the rating… I think I… devoured this shit. 😔

It was boring but weirdly, not boring since I read it oddly fast enough to cancel it out. I’m not joking. Idk how I read this book this fast. Like, I think it was prob the premise and the fact that there wasn’t much solid paragraphs but idk. Gets a good note in my book. 🐺(💀)

Also the bulging was nice 😔 but the book was still ass 😔

Goddess frickin damnit! I loved it! I’m a sucker for good ABO story and boy did this one deliver.
From the beginning till the end, it got my full attention and it was so funny at times and so emotional at others!
They aren’t overly sappy and cringe.. The possessiveness is so good in this one, especially when Jamie gets suitors… I LOLed so hard at the first time Lukas was there 😂😂 also the epilogue I swear to God…

“You know I love you, right?” Asher bent down, took my lips with his own, and proceeded to kiss me until we were both breathless. “I know,” he said, “and I love you too.”
I mean c’mon!

I’m a simple man, okay? Give me an omegaverse story that’s reminiscent of the fanfics I love reading, and I salivate over it. Sure, the plot sometimes didn’t make sense, a lot of things weren’t explained, and there were a few editing errors, but I still inhaled this because it was my vibe.

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I wonder if the next one after Milo’s will be Jeff and Kai’s. Like are they a possible pairing? 🤞🏻

First time reader of this author and I have to say I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It has a good premise and an interesting plot. It's a good edit away from being a five-star read, there are some plot points that are left unresolved, although the romance ends with a HEA.

There are some rather obvious opportunities missed for the author to show the story rather than tell it, or explain things instead of allowing the reader to wallow reading between the lines, which is my preference as a reader.

Unbeknownst to him, Jamie's new job is smack in the middle of the Black Creek Pack Were territory. While at work he catches the eye of a couple alphas, one of whom has unsavory plans for him. In short order he finds himself kidnapped and an unwilling participant in a full moon Omega hunt while in heat for the first time. As a human he doesn't even know what an Omega is, so things are about to get Were'd, fast.

After the recent death of his parents in an auto accident, Asher, finds himself at odds with pack members who believe him too young to be the new alpha of the Black Creek Pack. Going behind his back one even organized an Omega hunt, an archaic practice that Asher finds immensely distasteful. Imagine his surprise when he scents one of the omegas as his fated mate.

I was expecting a bit more from the hunt to be honest, I really wanted to see it from Asher's POV as he fought to get to his mate first. The premise would have naturally lent itself to light primal play but disappointingly this didn't materialize. Similarly, Asher explaining Were society to Jamie occurred off page, which is half the fun of human x were in a world where they aren't 'out' and is a great way to convey information to the reader about the world.

The knotty times were excellent and I thought the explanation for the frequency was rather inspired, making it really fit the storyline, rather than just being gratuitous sex (not that I mind it overmuch, it's just lovely to have an actual plot). I'd have liked a little more backstory about both guys, especially why Asher has been away from the pack for the past two months, but I loved how Jamie adjusted to pack life so seemlessly, I just find it more satisfying that having a found family come on the heels of understanding how needed that family is to the character. The secondary characters were all well developed and helped tell the story.

The side plot of the divide in the pack and the omega hunter pack was a little rushed but ultimately kept me reading and I will be reading the next book in the series.

…it felt like something fell into place in my soul.
I’d found my home.

Set in Squirrel Hill, Idaho.

Jamie (“a few years older” than 18) is a server at a bar in town. A gorgeous twink who’s 5’8” and has dark brown hair, big green eyes, and very pale skin.

Asher, 32, resembles a Viking raider. Messy golden blonde hair, stubbly beard, and striking hazel eyes. Big and muscular.

Asher is the Alpha of the Black Creek were pack. Very new to leadership; he’s only been at it two months, since the deaths of his parents.

Jamie doesn’t know his parents. He’s a free spirit who was raised in foster care. Jamie is also a great balance of sarcastic and bitchy.

The birthrates for omegas are way down; they have become quite the commodity. Hence the Omega Hunt…

First time is explosive. 💥 💥 💥

Abducted.

Jamie doesn’t know he’s an Omega. He doesn’t know about werewolves. Or Heat. Or…any of it.

Good omegaverse building.

Misha, Asher’s twin sister, is a gem. 💎

Asher’s endearments (honey, hun) are perfect. Great knotting.

His big, warm presence engulfed me as he held me, cherished me, and it was a whole new feeling that I let myself drown in.

Culture shock.

Pregnancy surprise.

Asher’s internal monologues about having to posture and enforce are quite cute.

I was pretty proud of myself. Being all clear and concise. Using all them grown-up words and acting all proper pack Alpha.

The homestead. A new life for Jamie.

Superlative action and intimacy. Anatomy, physiology, verbiage, descriptive detail…all excellent. Hot, scorching, and joyful. Circumcision status, variety in activities, positions…intense.

Oh, and they also rescue a whole bunch of trafficked Omegas.

The meetings. Reforms. More equality about the As, Bs, and Os.

It’s quite nice that there are plenty of females in this novel. Unlike (ahem) certain other Omegaverse writers…

Gorgeous ending. And thanks the readers. 👏🏻

In my head.
In my heart.
A connection that could never be severed.
A promise that we’d always be together.

I was tempted to give this a higher rating, but ultimately I couldn't.

I really liked Jamie and Asher and their chemistry. They clicked pretty well right off the bat and I was into them. This also gets points for being a pretty easy, quick and enjoyable read overall.

But was there much to this story? Not really. It went by almost too fast, with barely any attention given to building the characters, relationships, etc. Like if Jamie and Asher hadn't worked so well, this book wouldn't have had much going for it.

It tries to have a plot, but it is mostly just erotica and it shows. Which would be fine, but it does try to be more than that, so I'm judging this book off of that.

Also it has mpreg but barely. Jamie is pregnant like right away, the main story happens over about a months time, and then we skip forward 5 or so months to when he has the baby and then we get one small after-the-birth scene and then that's it. We barely focus on the mpreg of it all.

Also what did the book mean that they "weren't werewolves" but "Weres"?? Like wtf does that even mean? The way they're described, they are...werewolves, so...?? That was a bit silly to try to draw a distinction and try to make "Weres" as more or just different than werewolves. They could still literally turn into wolves, soooo....

This just jumps so quickly from scene to scene that while I enjoyed Jamie and Asher, I also at times didn't feel like enough focus was on them and their relationship. Like how did they get to being in love, exactly? There wasn't a ton of build up for that.

I might give more books in this series a chance, but I'm not pressed to do so right now. When I'm in the mood for mpreg in the future, I might come back to this series for a light, fun read. Otherwise? It wasn't anything special to be honest.

Good enough, chemistry wise, sex wise, to keep me entertained, and easy enough to get through quickly, so it had that going for it. Otherwise it was just kind of 'meh.'

This is a bit of a dark read, yet low-angst at the same time. It's sounds like quite the contradiction, but I'll try to explain.

So in this universe, Omegas are rare and sought after, but they're also traditionally pretty much the subjects and slaves of the Alphas. And there's this rift within the shifter society between the older "traditionalist" shifters who wants to keep everything as it's always been - and even bring back older, disbanded customs - and the younger generation who doesn't want Alpha, Beta, or Omega to be what dictates an individual's life and treatment.

The story starts with an old, grim custom; an omega hunt. In which kidnapped Omegas are hunted by Alphas and then forcefully claimed.
Pretty much non-con in other words.
The human Omega, Jamie, is kidnapped and thrown into this hunt. But Asher, the shifter MC, recognizes him as his mate and joins the hunt. But I wouldn't call that claiming non-con. Because Jamie is really into it. But it's still very much dub-con, because ... well, I don't want to spoil anything. But it's not a rape, that's what I wanted to point out.

The strange thing is, that even if this is the world in the story, it doesn't dwell too much on the injustices and the darkness. Jamie is a very easy-going and snarky guy who won't take sh*t from anyone. And Asher is a very progressive Alpha. So I'd still classify this as a low-angst book, but with a lot of dark elements that aren't allowed to take over. Does that make sense?

Either way, this is smutty as all get out.
Especially, there was this scene when another Alpha was courting Jamie that was really funny, but also super duper hot!
Well, let's just say that if you don't like really over-the-top, explicit sexytimes to be a big part of the story, then this isn't a book for you.
I however, love smut!
Which is what tipped this story from a 4 to a 5 star in my eyes
.

I found the world-building pretty great. But it's a short book, so I didn't really get my fill, I wanted to know more. And there were many unanswered questions. But it's supposed to be a series, with an over-reaching story-arc so I'm counting on getting those answers later on.

This is one of North's first books, though, so I would imagine that they'll develop over time because there's great potential there. I also very much hope for longer stories.

Overall though, I highly recommend this story for A/B/O lovers fond of knotting and stuff. :)

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

This was a book absolutely full of steamy, melt-your-kindle moments. From the very beginning, the chemistry between Asher and Jaime was off the charts and things only got hotter and more intense between them as the book progressed. I really liked them together and loved how sarcastic and snarky Jaime could be. Asher when he was in protective mode was great and he was so caring towards Jaime too. Could the wider world building have been a bit stronger? Yes probably. Other than Jeff, I didn't really love any of the other secondary characters and the narrative did tend to jump over some points. What I mean is, we'd be in the thick of the action with one character and then, next chapter with the other perspective and the entire event would have gone by and it would be later in the day/week. There was definitely plenty of action throughout though and I was kept interested right up to the end. I marked it down slightly because, to me, the final action part with Asher didn't actually feel resolved. There was no mention or acknowledgement of the other characters who played a part and I'm just assuming that this will continue as a wider plot point in book 2. It was good to see Jaime and Asher get their HEA though and the level of heat between them both is what made me round up not down.

Overall, a very steamy read with two likeable characters and a cute HEA. I'd recommend it if you like this genre and I hope that Kai and Jeff get a book next.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I liked the idea of this, but I can't deny there was something missing to make this a book I will be remembering in the long run. Maybe time will tell me wrong, who knows.

I love shifters romances and I'm pretty early to please when this trope is involved. I liked having a human omega because it gave it an extra something, even though in the end it wasn't the main focus in the story.

If you are looking for a spicy romance this is it for you. We have so many good steamy scenes! But they could be too many for you depending on what you feel like reading.

Asher and Jamie were nice main characters. I liked how things went between them, first meeting at the pub and the the Omega Hunt. Between the two things are mostly steamy and passionate, due to the circumstances of their mating and all. Not a sweet romance, but I didn't mind it.

I was maybe expecting more hurt/comfort, and it didn't have that much of it. Maybe there will be with Kai and Milo's stories, since the two seem more traumatized by what they survived. And as usual, I'm more intrigued by supporting characters than the MCs we met here.

Not a bad read, it was quick, easy to read and full of the steam I like!

Asher is the new alpha of his pack after his parents were killed. He has just return to his pack and is unwinding in a pack run bar. He sees a cute human male being accosted by a strange alpha wolf. He rescues Jamie who smells fantastic and learns that the alpha was invited to his pack lands by one of the elders to run an omega hunt. Asher is horrified by the betrayal. Omega hunts used to be traditional but they are degrading to the omegas and cause be the cause of bloodshed and death. It is too late to stop this hunt though. The night of the hunt Asher scents his mate in with the omegas from the hunt. It is Jamie the man from the bar and he is in heat.

Jamie knew nothing about alphas and omegas or even shifters. He works in a bar and is always getting hit on. One guy won't take no for an answer. Jamie tricks him when he is cornered in the bathroom and runs for safety. A big sexy guy named Asher comes to his rescue, Just being near Asher has him all hot and bothered. Jamie thinks that he is coming down with something. He doesn't know he is an omega going into his first heat. He is kidnapped by the jerk and is taken to the middle of the forest where he is being chased by beasts. He is saved again by Asher.

I wanted better

Well, this had all the potential. It just didn’t live up to it for me. Jamie is this hapless little human with no knowledge of were’s or alphas or omegas. He’s kidnapped and used for alpha bait. And when he’s taken by Asher, it’s like, sure, this is fine. THEN, the conversation that Asher has with Jamie about all of that is OFF PAGE. Why do authors do this? Make important moments happen off page. And this book had several instances of it. The one mentioned above, Jamie running into the hunter and the supermarket (how did he get away and what happened?), after Jamie is rescued we see none of the moments that Asher gets his omega back. Ugh. It’s infuriating.

There’s ton of spice for sure, but I nearly didn’t care anymore because I was so peeved about other things. One of the other things this book falls victim to is telling and not showing. I mean, by about 35%, we had only had a handful of lines of dialogue between Jamie and Asher. The rest was inner monologuing that drove me crazy.

Look, the book was okay. I’m not saying it wasn’t. However, it had more cons than pros for me. I don’t know that I’ll continue the series, because I fear it’ll be more of the same.

I love a good uninformed human in paranormal stories. Overall this one was good but had a few misses for me.

The opening is an archaic tradition called the Omega Hunt. Essentially a kidnap, hunt and non-con claiming of omegas. Asher, the new young Alpha of this pack recognizes one of the omegas as his mate but doesn't fully claim him. The aspect of only being able to claim on the full moon was new for me but that's the plot point that allows for the month of stress and chaos.

The biggest miss for me was the conversation where Asher explains to Jamie that Weres exist and Jamie is an Omega happened completely off page. We're told instead of shown that convo. To omit that conversation is to miss the point of having an uniformed human X paranormal coupling. There were some minor jumps in the story where the flow was a bit off but nothing too off putting.

Again, overall a good story of pack life and the logistics of a new Alpha trying to lead and modernize the pack. I think some minor editing to improve the flow and put that conversation on page and it could be really good.

Jamie feels his life sucks. He gets hit on at his job and the guy won’t take no. Then he comes down with the worst case of flu. He cannot even recover from that as he is kidnapped and finds himself running through the woods being chased by monsters. Asher is one of those monsters but he also knows that Jamie is his mate and he is determined to claim this rare human omega until he realizes that Jamie thinks it is all a very hot dream. Not at all what Asher expected.

What an exciting start for the Black Creek Pack series. Jamie was kidnapped by hunters who are paid to organize an omega run, something Asher does not believe should be happening. He is forced to make an exception to ensure the safety of his mate. There are so many problems on Asher’s plate but Jamie is front and center. Their claiming is delayed for many reasons and causes so many issues for these two. What a delight their story is! These two men are in a difficult positions but still allow love to conquer all. Excellent.

Read to me by Alexa.

I’m giving it 2⭐️ because I finished it. But that’s really it. Nothing really happened.

There is a human. He is an Omega unexpectedly. He lives in a world where Were’s are real not to be confused with werewolves . He gets kidnapped to be part of an omega hunt where he meets his true mate, which is the alpha leader of the local pack.

The alpha that kidnapped the human omega, has plenty of opportunities to cause conflict within the story, but each time it either a.) doesn’t happen or b.) The conflict last for 0.2 seconds and is resolved with a very little effort or consequence from the main characters.

The human omega and his alpha, of course, breed during their very first mating so he spends the majority of the book pregnant. He gives birth in the epilogue. He’s kidnapped again for 0.2 seconds during the main story and is saved by his alpha with very minimal effort, and no real consequence. Truly nothing happens in the story. If you just want to read about a human omega breeding with a Were that doesn’t really shift….. then sure.

You think you're having a bad day?

Jamie is having the having a day to beat "Alexander Horrible Day". He is nearly attacked at work, he is sleeping in his car, he is sick with a fever, he get kidnapped and he finds out he's Omega! A male omega who has been trafficked and bred during a full moon to the Alpha of the Black Creek Pack! And boy does he have a few things to say about his predicament.

Asher is a progressive alpha trying to pull his pack back together after a devastating tragedy. But he has conservative traditionalists working against him at every turn. And on top of it the Moon Goddess has seen to give him a True Mate who knows nothing about Weres or Mates or of the fact that he's an Omega and can carry a pup.

Throw in 3 more kidnapped Omegas and this is a fantastic kick off to a series. Asher and Jamie are so sweet and the side characters are well fleshed out and the villains are evil but also fleshed out enough that they are cartoons of evil. I can't wait for the next installment.

Human Omega by Jay L North is the story of Jamie and Asher. This story is told in dual POV and that works beautifully for this story. This book also starts off the Black Creek Pack series.
Jamie he is short, and works in an inclusive bar night shifts. He is not feeling good. Hates having to fix the jammed condom machine in the men’s room. Sarcastic, bratty, and sassy.
Asher: Jamie would say he looks like a viking god of old. Willing to fight for a man he just met. He is the Black Creek pack alpha. There is something that draws him to Jamie.
When Jamie is kidnapped and forced into the mate hunt ritual, Asher wants to be the one to claim and save him.
Overall this is a great start to this story. I did find some places to be kinda not believable but for the most part this is a great story and I am glad I got the chance to read it. I would love to see where this series goes next as well.

Interesting start to a new series. This book is definitely more sex than story, but the description blurb lets you know that before you purchase, so if you're here, I assume that's your expectation. You won't be disappointed. I liked the story and characters, especially Jaime and his snark and independent attitude. It's kind of your typical fish-out-of-water story when Jaime gets kidnapped and forced to participate in an omega hunt, because - surprise - he's an omega even though he's human. He also happens to be pack alpha Asher's fated mate, and Asher is going to make sure he gets to claim Jaime. So there is some drama, excitement, pack challenges, and plenty of sex. To my mind, the story could have used more world and character development, but it's not bad, and I am interested to see where the next book leads. A a reminder, there is lots of M/M sex, so if that's not your thing, this probably isn't your book.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

A human omega, a hunt, and a protective alpha...

What a stunning start to a new series! I fell in love with the members of the Black Creek Pack. The Were concept was refreshing and new to me. The themes of kidnapped omegas, hunters, claiming, and outright joy push the story forward at an even pace. Is there sex? Yes. Lots and lots of sex. I loved all the progressive things the Alpha wanted to, and did, accomplish. And a human omega trying to come to grips with not only Were culture, but the whole "I can have a baby" situation, is something else. But the attraction between Jamie and Asher is as immediately intense as it is inevitable. Yes, there is violence. But the bad guys deserved what they get. I cannot wait for the next book to be released. This is one series I fully intend on following. Once you read it, I am sure you will agree. So Get. It. Now!

Jamie is living in his car and working a crummy job. He’s kidnapped and forced to participate in an omega hunt. His reaction to werewolves, learning he is an omega, and the alpha who claims him aren’t among his finer moments. But Asher is completely irresistible and his mate? Yep, his life has taken a strange turn into the unknown.

The characters were nice and Asher’s pack was mostly portrayed as accepting of Jamie. I liked that Asher was intent on bring the pack out of it’s hidebound past. The book did have a lot of steam as well as truly despicable bad guys.

I feel as though the story needed more depth. Some important conversations were off page and I think they needed to be included. Some of the book seemed stilted and a bit repetitive.

Looking forward to more stories of this particular pack.

I received an arc of this book.

This is an entertaining, somewhat dark Mpreg shifter romance that certainly caught my attention. I’m not going to give the plot away but I will admit that I found the plot well-written & quite intriguing with so many unexpected situations that had a strong “expect the unexpected” undertone. The characters (a rather sarcastic, human male omega, Asher) & an alpha male “werewolf” shifter (Jamie) portrayed fairly realistic emotional feelings. There is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: rogues, alphas/omegas/betas, a manipulative council elder (Mathias), pack politics, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, suspense, abduction, omega hunts, coercion, questionable consent, confusion, doubts, remorseful feelings, surprises, declaration, love, explicit scenes, surprises, contentment & a wonderful epilogue.

The book was well-written and kept my attention throughout. The MC’s had an instant connection and their chemistry was amazing. Asher is a typical Alpha: strong, protective, possessive, and very sexy. Jamie was an Omega and a human and therefore “weak”, but he really was a strong and loving influence on Asher. Together, the unlikely duo make a great couple and being Asher is the Alpha of his pack, making Jamie the Alpha-mate, they made a great team for their little community of shifters. They really balanced each other very well. Each of the characters had issues and trauma to overcome, and the story had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the conclusion. The steamy scenes were well-written and had me enthralled. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
