JaRue Malone is a single mother who simply tries to make ends meet. The father of her eighteen-month-old daughter, Infiniti, refuses to help take care simply because JaRue won’t play by his rules. With the help of her best friend, Journei, and her bosses, Knasim and Knight Richmond, she’s able to provide a somewhat stable and comfortable environment for her daughter. That is until her child’s father tries to get the upper-hand on her situation, leaving her in shambles, not knowing which way to turn.
Hassan Ashby is the heir apparent to The Ashby Crime Family in Wood Haven. After his father steps down and appoints him the new head of the family, he’s thrown headfirst into his role and everything it entails. Working closely with The RCF, Hassan is given a direct order from Knasim that he has to adhere to, or it could cost his family more than he could afford to lose.
Journei is JaRue’s best friend. She’s down to ride with JaRue ’till the wheels fall off. She’s been by her friend’s side through everything that she’s been dealt with, leaving her to have very little time for herself. That is until she crosses paths with Rakeem Ashby. Sparks fly immediately, but what Journei doesn’t know is that Rakeem is keeping a part of his life from her, and it could put a nail in the budding relationship that they’re trying to build.
Rakeem Ashby is his brother’s right hand and enforcer. Whatever problem The ACF has, he’s the man for the job. He just wishes his personal life is as easy. Rakeem has a lot on his plate, but when Journei enters his life, he feels compelled to make it easier to insert her in it. The only problem is, he hasn’t revealed every aspect of his life.
Not knowing the outcome of what the Universe has in store for them, these two couples navigate through every storm and obstacle in order to conserve solace in their lives. Will they get knocked down at every turn, or will they defy the odds that are thrown at them?

good story, bad editing

I really liked this story. It was a quick read but still had substance. The story was good but needed to be edited to help with the finesse and structure. There were way too many errors, especially with the book being as short as it was. I don’t know why she didn’t put Keith on papers since he was legit. I also don’t know how I felt about Journei and Rock with the whole Lu thing but they kept it cute for the most part.

Hassan was just who JaRue needed to love her and Infiniti properly after experiencing Keith’s triflingness. I like how Hassan knew he wanted JaRue from the moment that he first laid eyes on her and paid for her items at the gas station. Hassan could’ve easily dealt with Keith before court but he wanted to lock in with JaRue and Infiniti because he was in love with them. Rakeem, Lu, and Peace’s predicament was so sad especially when Lu gave up when she knew that Rock and Peace would be in good hands with Journei. I like the compassion and care that Journei showed to Lu and Peace when she sat with them. It would have put the icing on the cake if all of Keith’s dirty laundry would’ve came out in court.

About the book: This book was short and quick with just the right amount of drama that I love. This book was the true definition of black love without all the unnecessary drama. In this book we have two couples the main one being Hassan and JaRue. Okay so JaRue is a single mom doing the best to provide for her daughter while her no good lying/cheating baby daddy does nothing. But has the nerve to want full custody. Then we have Hassan aka Mr make it happen. He’s in a crime organization family so what he says goes and the moment he sees JaRue he was all about her and ready to kill anyone that hurt her. So when he found out about her baby daddy all he saw was red and ready for war behind her. He showed her what love was and how to be treated. Then we have Journei and Rakeem this is truly a beautiful love story on how to love again after a loss. We didn’t get a lot of them but we got to see their relationship go from friendship to true love.

Unputdownable

Whew, I can't believe this is the first book I read by this author...maybe second, but I was captivated! Haze, Rue, Rock, and Journei definitely gave their all. Let's discuss Haze and Rue first. This woman had that man from the moment he met her. He was ready to break all his rules and he knew nothing about her. However, Keith no-good lying @$$ had Rue leery of any man that came in her face. However, something about her didn't or wouldn't let her past stop his pursuit. Hey, they can only catch you if you want to be caught...Rue did! They were a little unconventional, but it worked.

Now, let's discuss Rock and Journei...Rock was in turmoil. The love of his life, his daughter's mom was dying and he couldn't do anything about it. Journei walked in and became his bestie. Yeah she liked him, but she really wanted to be his friend. Lu had a chance to connect with Journei and laid some truth and expectations on her she wasn't expecting. Love has no timing, so when you fall, you just have to be prepared.

This was a great read and I know I have some other characters I have to read now...I'll keep you posted. Happy Reading Y'all!💋

JaRue & Hassan

I guess you could say it was love at first site because from the first time Hassan laid eyes on Rue at the gas station it was just something about her. As they got to know each other her deadbeat baby daddy really showed his jealous side, he didn't want to care for his daughter or her offering no type of support but felt he had the right to control her life happy she had Journie her best friend in her life to encourage her as well as stand up and next to her when it came to Keith, his wife and sister they felt since he was a surgeon they were entitled but Hassan shut all that down as well as making her the happiest she has ever been.
Rahkeem was dealing with a lot but at the right time Journey entered his life and as if she had planned it his wife Lie knew she was the one that came.to her in her dreams now she was able to rest in peace knowing that the love of her life and daughter would have someone that will show them true pure love like she did.

The Head Of ACF Family!!

JaRue was to open her heart to date and love again because of her goofy baby daddy Keith and his wife. Who she know about and lied about his age. She met Hassan at gas station. Then she saw him at the club, Kari tried to come in there and pop her ish. You know Knight didn't it make any better because he doesn't have any filter. Keith is and always be petty a hater. JaRue is living her best life without him and can't stand it Hassan is her man now, he's going to protect her and Infinity at all cost. They are the solution to each of their problems. Journei met Rock at club and they have been talking ever since. Lu told that she was the one for him. Since they are besties and all. He wanted Journei to moment he saw her and feeling guilty about it. Hassan stepped up and changed Infinity last name because he said that aren't living under their roof with different last names. We need a story with Rock and Journei.

I Didn't Want It To End!

You ever not want a book to end because you love the characters THAT much!? Well that is what this book was to me! While some of it was predictable, there was enough twists and humor to still make it completely enjoyable. Then, not to mention the Lu storyline, O M G, I was in shambles in here! That type of love was so beautifully written that my heart broke and healed in the same chapter. I loved all of these characters... Well, except for Keith, Cheryl, and Kari - but they don't matter. Rue, Haze, Journie, and Rock were a pleasure to read about from beginning to end. Love is a beautiful thing folks and this author did not disappoint in showing how even with complexities, love is still beautiful when it is done right. This is a 5 star storyline but the editing and grammatical errors made it a 4 star experience.

This book was talked about in some groups I am in on Facebook and let me tell you, they lied. lmao I was expecting a way better love story then this. For starters, Keith and his wife were trifling individuals. I will give you that. But the grammatical errors were a bit annoying, and I didn't really feel any true chemistry between Rue and Haze. I mean yeah, they liked each other, but the chemistry was off. I feel like it was almost forced and a bit rushed. I do like that there wasn't any extreme drama in this book, outside of Keith, but this book just fell flat to me. Journei and Rock were alright. I feel like they almost had a little bit more chemistry going, as they were "besties,' but even still... it was just eh. Some of the dialogue was a bit redundant and contradicting. Only a couple scenes seemed contradicting, but still...

it was cool

It was a cool book. It had some pros and cons. I’ve read several books by this authors and it’s like I’m reading the same sex scenes in every book it’s just lack luster at this point. Every woman in her books calls the dude daddy during sex. Also, what really bugged me about this book is that it was like Rocks grieving process should be rushed and that he needed to apologize to ole’ girl for shutting her out when IMO it shouldn’t been written like that. I’ve lost someone very close to me that died at 23 so I understand needing space to grieve. I also don’t like that Lu was being called his BM. She was more than and should’ve been addressed as such.

This was a short read. JaRue works for the Richmond family, who run big business both legal and illegal. The Asby family works under them. Hassan and Rakeem Ashby run their own legal and illegal businesses as well. JaRue meets Hassan at a gas station but eventually run into him again at a bar/club. Journei is JaRue's best friend, she meets Rahkeem at the bar/club, they hit it off. Rahkeem's baby momma is dying. Drama ensues when the bm passes, Rue's bitter ex find out that she dating, and Hassan's jump-off find out about Rue.

The overall story was good, but it was a bit rushed in the end. I feel like some things could've and should've been explored more. Journei and Rock in particular. I took a star off for that.

Lemme introduce you to Hassan Ashby. That man was everything. From the first time he saw JaRue he was standing on business. He was a man of intention, which we love. He was a major upgrade for JaRue from Keith’s raggedy ass. Now Rakeem, has my heart. His situation had me in my feelings. I balled like a baby. He got a little side eye from me, but in the end I was here for it. Lu’s words really pieced it together for me. Journei is the best friend every one should have. I was waiting for her to give Kari a two piece and biscuit. This book has affiliation to The Richmond family. Not a must to read before but it’ll help. Im running to read that series next. Definitely recommend this short read.

Humor and sexy ppl 💜 it

Tacarra, now you done had me laughing my ass off. I thoroughly enjoyed JaRue and Hassan journey together, I mean, it was swift, but you can put a timeline on something that was meant to be, I guess. Now Journei is a damn character, and I'm so glad her and Rock were able to move forward. Fking Keith ass had me feeling like Journei when he kept popping his ass up and ur wife trying it. Shit I wanted to see her ass get dropped by Rue or Journei. Kari lawd child was so delusional. Like how is it possible that these blatant blocks she kept getting from Haze didn't connect that he didn't want more from her.

Phenomenal Read!!!!!

Absolutely loved reading this novella… I felt like I was part of the story maybe as the friend Journie… Loves how Rakeem and Journie love story played out despite the circumstances. And Keith sorry behind got what he deserved. Loved how Knasim and Knight took care of JaRue as employers adding she was struggling and helped her even before Hassan came along. It was an all around happy ending every woman wishes they come across or have the opportunity to experience in a lifetime. Will be looking forward to reading more from this author… Keep up the amazing work!!!

This book gave me everything I needed. We got love, a little messiness, heartbreak and healing! S/O to Knight and Knasim for remaining awesome!!! Hassan stood on business when it came to Rue and Infinity! Keith tried to break my girl with his bitterness and his face was left on the floor by the end! Then we have Journee and Rakeem. He had the biggest transformation and Lue held her dignity til the end. Journee was a true gift from God. She was a true definition of a friend and honored what Lue told her in secret! I loved Peace!! Everyone got the love they didn’t know they needed!!!

Ohh my heart hurt for Rakeem, Peace and Lu. 💔 Lu’s condition was so heart wrenching but I loved that she loved Rakeem enough to release him to love again.
I loved that we got to see th RCF again and my girl Journei😂💗😂 she was the funniest balance for all the heavy topics this book cover.
Journei was hilarious - please put her and Knight in a scene together. They are hilarious 😂😂😂

come into the light

When you’re in the dark and scared of what the light looks like, but then a man like Hassan walks in and changes everything that you felt was wrong with you. when a man sees you and doesn’t let you stay in the dark for too long.
Journei the type of woman that Rakeem deserves when he was in the dark and need someone to bring him back into the light he was broken, and didn’t know how to come out and journei sat by and held his hand

This may have started a marriage of convenience for Hassan & JaRue. However, they way JaRue was able to step on her haters necks??? That is how you build confidence up in your woman, so nobody can play in their face. He said I got you... and showed and proved in this short story.


Rakeem & his bestie Journei well, all I can say is sis was a friend to them man and set her feelings aside.

I can't imagine Lu hearing them talking about another woman in her presence while she lay dying. Like, the author could have kept that.
