Corrupt Promises is a standalone in the Twisted Arrangements series. However, this book contains spoilers for previous books in this series. Cian and Ravenna's story starts prior to Stolen Vows and ends after Forever Fake, spanning the timeframe of the series so far. This is a contemporary mafia romance with dark themes. Expect drama, spice, and a morally grey hero. For full content information, please check the author’s website
I received this arc and this is my honest opinion. This is an arranged marriage, mafia, enemies to lovers, swap in place of sister for the wedding, betrayal, grovel, again betrayal, again grovel, PTSD, ow drama story. There are a lot going on but it doesn't feel overwhelming. I believe it helps that it is more than 400 pages or else it would feel packed, I love the relationship between the hero and the heroine and I loved the fact that the heroine was sassy and stuborn but not in cringy way. Usually authors when trying to present strong heroines they often appear too much for my liking. I'm all about feminism but there are boundaries between a strong headed woman and a woman that behaves like a man or speak like a man. This story has so much going on and when you think "phew that was close" something new happens. There's angst, there's betrayal from the hero and then grovel, there's betrayal from outside sources but eventually we have our happily ever after. The writing has a really beautiful flow and the story isn't tiring nor does it appear to have any unnecessary sub plots. I really liked Quinn's previous stories and I think that she's about to become one of my top1o authors. I also loved that the couples from the other stories are playing some minor role but in the same time important. Of course it can be read as a standalone but if you have read the previous stories of hers the experience is whole lot more pleasant.
Disclaimer, I was a beta reader for this book, but my review is based on the updated ARC copy I received. It's a testament to the quality of the book that I didn't mind reading it twice in less than a month : )
As promised, Cian and Ravenna's story was much longer and more painful than the previous books in the series, but it was so good. Everything flowed really well and I read through without ever slowing down. There were a few times where I thought "Oh, I wish the author explained this or included that," only for it to appear a few lines or pages later. The author also did a great job weaving in information from the other books to anchor the plot around the timeline of the other books without it feeling repetitive.
I appreciate that Cian actually was an ass to Ravenna in the beginning, and not just in a "I have to keep her at arms length" way, but that he enjoyed knowing he'd have control over her and seemed to genuinely not care about her feelings. Too often in these arranged marriage books the MMC is rumored to be a dangerous brute, but is immediately kind to the FMC. In this case there was genuine character growth, not just in the beginning but throughout the novel.
It was nice to see an actual volatile couple who clearly loved each other but seriously struggled to maintain their relationship. As the book went on, they felt like a couple who had been together for quite a while. They understood each other and could call out the other’s thinking in a way that was natural and believable. Despite all of their struggles and some of the horrible things that happened (I cried several times while reading), I was still rooting for them and wanted them to be happy together. The ending was satisfying and emotional, and I can't wait for Maximo and Elena's story.
This story was a great Mafia read. It was fast paced (some parts a little slow) and action pact. Loved the fact that the fmc was a sassy little thing with a spine alltough she lived in a world ruled by men. Both the FMC as the MMC had severe past trauma that made their relation a little hard at times. The characters where really growing especially the MMC. Loved that!
So about the story! The story is about Ravenna and Cian. Ravenna is a daughter of the Italian mob and her twin sister is married off to the head of a Irish gangleader to secure a alliance. But when her sister doesnt show up on her wedding day Ravenna secretly takes her place. Cian has been hurt and betrayled a lot by his former fiancé. So he vows never to love a woman again. Until he gets to know Ravenna... Does her lies catch up with her?
"You don't know me yet, but I'm the kind of man who's loyal to a fault. I take my vows seriously. I'll never stray from you. I will cherish you, if you'll let me."
"My stomach flips. I think I'm falling in love with my husband."
It is currently midnight and i just finished reading this being forever grateful i received an ARC to this love story.I loved the immense character growth in both Cian and Ravenna which showed the true meaning of Communication trope done well.I had kept putting this book off not wanting it to end but alas it's one of my favourite reads of the year hands down.I will not lie and tell you I'm familiar with the authors books apart from the one that involved Roman and Sophie but enjoying two books by the same author goes to show her talent. Can't wait for others to be fully satisfied with the characters like I was.
The writing is fast and keeps you hooked. I picked up this series this month and finished all three books in three days and that says it all! Rav completely stole the spotlight for me. Her courage, resilience, and ability to forgive made her such a strong and inspiring character. She truly has a spine of steel. Cian, on the other hand, is grumpy and guarded, but slowly learns to trust and open up. Watching their journey together was so satisfying. The story talks about love, trust, courage, forgiveness, and the strength of family. I especially enjoyed the found family part and it added warmth to the darker moments. It has all the dark, intense vibes of a mafia romance, but also gives you sweet moments that balance it out. From a marriage built on lies to a happy-ever-after, this finale felt perfect. The epilogue was straight out of a fairy tale. Mafia romance fans—this whole series is a must-read (but don’t forget to check the trigger warnings).
This book totally surprised me, in the best way possible! I’ve always been a fan of Cassia, but this one just shows why I love her work so much. 🙌🏼
What I loved most was getting to see Ravenna and Cian’s journey after marriage. We hardly ever get books that show what happens once the couple is already together, and honestly? It made me love them even more. 💕 Both of them had their own demons to fight, and it was so beautiful (and sometimes messy) watching them figure things out, make mistakes, and still learn how to lean on each other.
The plot had me hooked, the romance was swoony, the spice was on point 🔥, and don’t even get me started on the epilogue 👀 it was everything!
Now I’m sitting here impatiently waiting for Elena’s book because I need it ASAP.
4.5 ⭐️ i was lucky enough to be an ARC reader. I hadn’t read any of the author’s previous books. That will be changing. This book was a good time. I really enjoyed the main characters. Cain and Ravenna both from organized crime factions coming together to form a new alliance. The book flowed very well and kept me entertained the entire time reading. The spice level was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and worked well within the story. I definitely would recommend this book for those who like the mafia world or just a good story.
Unfortunately, I did not remember these characters or the other stories in the series to fully enjoy this book. My mind is not what it used to be. That being said, I loved Cian and Raveena. Oh the guilt trip he suffers from after realizing how much Raveena suffered after he dropped her off at her fathers when the truth of her identity came out. He didn't give her a chance to explain, even though he knew she was about to tell him the truth before it all went to shit. I do wish Raveena made him grovel some more and let him stew in his guilt. I was surprised that the book tackled infertility, but I loved it. Cian's reaction to finding out Raveena knew she was pregnant before jumping into the river after him was everything! What was annoying was Cian's insecurities that drove them apart - it got repetitive at one point, like move on already. Thankfully Raveena was smart enough to use her brain.
Cassia Quinn, the champion in writing great Mafia stories, with high angst and one hell of a ride, has done it again! This is Cian and Ravenna's story....and this is one story that you are going to want to read. It's hot, full of angst and unexpected events that has you wanting to devour the book in one sitting!
Taking the place of her twin sister at an arranged marriage to Cian, known as The Beast and the Irish Don to his clan, was the first in many mistakes for Ravenna, who now has to be known as Elena. Her first BIG mistake is lying to Cian as to her real identity. Cian and Ravenna's marriage is bumpy to say the least, and yes they do consummate their marriage, and Cian does treat her with great respect. The spicy scenes between these two is off the charts hot, as Cian struggles to accept Ravenna as his wife. He needs an heir to help consolidate his treaty with the Italians. Cian carries a great burden. He was destroyed when his ex and his brother deceived him and caused all his injuries. He killed them both, but nightmares were a part of him as he could not forget or forgive...hence why he hated liars. Yeh not a good start for Ravenna, who lied to him from the very beginning. When Elena returns, everything turns to shit!! Literally!! Cian and Ravenna, who were making headway in their marriage, find that her lies cause Cian to return the two women back to their father, stating he never wants to see her again.....her father then severely beats Ravenna, so she has to hide herself away until she recovers. While she then is sold on the meat market....as a whore. Her father deems her not worthy of anything he needs as she is no longer a virgin! So when Cian finds out she is one of many at an auction, he buys her back! Yay! As Cian and Ravenna begin life once again, the story unfolds as real feelings become involved. BUT, Cian cannot let go of his past, and his insecurities of how a woman like Ravenna could love a man like him, that looks like him, confuses him. He is suspicious of any man that looks at Ravenna, and of course suspicious of her, as he finds it difficult to reconcile that she would love him! And then there is the issue of producing an heir. It just wasn't happening...even though they were constantly together.....sizzling hot scenes for us readers tho!! How does Ravenna and Cian overcome all their obstacles in their marriage. Someone is trying hard to make Cian doubt everything about Ravenna......He becomes consumed with jealousy at every turn. It seems to Ravenna that there is someone trying to destroy their marriage and Cian in the process! His mental health deteriorates....
Don't hesitate...take a ride on the wild side with Cian and Ravenna as they fight valiantly to maintain their trust in one another and keep their marriage intact. You won't regret reading this great story. One of the better Mafia stories for me!
Corrupt Promises is the fourth book in the Twisted Arrangement Series. Cian, also known as the beast, is the leader of the Irish mob known as the Gaelic Devil. He must marry the enemy’s daughter, Elena to end the war and obtain peace between their families. Cian takes his vowels seriously. He will be a faithful husband and protect her. As long as his wife is loyal and honest, he will treat her with respect. He has no problem killing his new bride if he finds out she deceives him. He starts to lower his guard when he gets to know her and he thinks he might be able to make this marriage work. When he finds out the truth, he lets her know just exactly how he feels and it’s not kind. Will he give her a second chance or will he show her why he’s called the beast?
When Ravenna’s twin sister goes missing, she takes her place and marries Cian. She doesn’t suspect anyone would know, least of all her husband. She’s terrified of what he would do if he finds out. She doesn’t want to know why he got his nickname. Ravenna only marries Cian because she wants to secure peace between the families. She wants all the killing to stop. This is the only way she can do it. So she will pretend to be her twin and hope that Cian never finds out. The more time they spend together, the more they get to know each other. Quickly, a bond is formed and feelings are developed. The guilt eats at her for her deception, but she doesn’t want to lose Cian. She is afraid if she confesses now it’ll be too late and he will want nothing to do with her. So she enjoys her time with him. That all changes when her twin Elena reappears. Now Ravenna must face Cian’s fury. What will she do to earn his trust now that she no longer wants to leave his side?
Cassie Quinn had me crying so many times. This was such an emotional roller coaster. I felt bad for Ravenna because of her living situation at home. But Cian’s traumatic past and the reason he cannot trust anyone was so devastating. The chemistry was amazing. They always wanted each other even when they argued. Despite the fact they couldn’t stand one another, their was instant mutual attraction. They eventually give into their desire leaving us with extremely hot scenes. I love that we got to see Cian‘s romantic side. There were some very beautiful scenes between them. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book. Not only were truths revealed but more deceptions were discovered. This story was filled with heartbreak, action, drama, romance, so much heat, and a twist that left me yelling. I am so excited that Ravenna’s twin, Elena is getting her own book. I can’t wait until this book is out.
I was chosen to Beta read this book, it's my first time doing a Beta read, and I hope I can give it the praise it deserves. For those who love Mafia books, you will love this book. If I had to rate this book on the type of mafia book, 1-mafia light, lots of romance, vague refences to the mafia life, no real conflict with the MC's to 10-Hardcore, dark, violent, bloody, and lots of angst with the MC's, I would place this at a 6. There is plenty of angst between the Mc's, depending what your version of romance is. This is not the "flowers and candy" type romance, it's the "sinfully decadent" type. There is violence, but not excessive gory, torcher my enemies, paint the walls with their blood type of violence. lol I would say there is a type of torcher in this book, but not the bloody kind, but the mental kind. Sometimes having your own mind turn against you is worse that physical torcher. The MC's go well together, a strong MMC, with a large personality, overbearing but still has vulnerability and a MFC with the personality to stand up to him, yet is also vulnerable. She get's knocked down, but gets right back up. Their relationship gives the meaning to " irresistible force meets an unmovable object" Cian and Ravenna have great chemistry and there is plenty of angst and love between them to bring them to life on the page. If you liked her other books, you will not be disappointed, if you haven't read them, go do so, it will be worth your time. Put it this way, I was about a 1/3 of the way into it when our internet went out, and we lost it for over 24hrs. I was so frustrated! It was like having a bite of the best chocolate cake ever, and being told you have to wait until tomorrow to finish it! Happy Reading!
One of my top reads for the year! This author knows how to capture your attention, and I don't want the book to end. I loved this couple so much and I love the way their story was written. If you haven't read the first 3 books I wouldn't start with this one, go back to book 1! I had been hoping from reading the first 3 books that we would get Cian and Ravenna's book and was thrilled when I learned we were. This book takes place before book 1 and has events that happen during the time period of the three books and then after. I loved that with this book it's not just a couple is married, and they live happily ever after instead we get a story that is about a marriage. They are married at the beginning, and we are taken through the journey of their marriage, their ups and downs, and how each one of them grows through these events. These two didn't know each other at all but with just a little time they couldn't imagine life without one another. I liked that not just one person in the marriage had struggles it was more real life like with the fact both of them had their own problems to deal with. I loved that from the very beginning Ravenna was never bothered by Cian's scares and she stood up for him from the beginning. I have loved all the characters in this series. Cian does not disappoint he is just as possessive of his wife as the other men, and Ravenna has the strength like the other women. Yet, I feel like we learn that Ravenna helped her cousins become strong and we see now why she gave such good advice to her cousins in their own relationships. I really hope more than anything we get to see where this couple is in the future. I'm looking forward to book 5 and have my fingers crossed that Cian and Ravenna make plenty of appearances in it.
4.5⭐️ I was fortunate enough to be chosen as a Beta reader for this book. And I just want to say this was an amazing read. This novel spans the timeline of around 4 years, starting a year or so before the first book in this series to a couple of months after the third book. Nothing felt confusing with the moving timeline and everything made sense. This is book is the fourth book in an interconnected, mafia, billionaire, romance series and while each book can be read as a stand-alone I would highly recommend to start at the beginning to fully understand the characters and they’re stories.
Ravenna Pontrelli’s identical twin sister is engaged to Cian O’Rourke (“The Beast”) and it’s their wedding day but Elena is nowhere to be found. Ravenna decides to take her sister’s place in the arranged marriage and we go through the story of the main character’s marriage and how they work through everything throughout years of struggle and trauma.
This is not a sweet, fluffy read so please check your trigger warnings. There is nothing gory or overly violent/violently descriptive in this. There is also descriptive spice in this book but it doesn’t overtake the story and there is a nice balance between plot and spice.
Overall I believe the story was well written and that the main characters were perfectly meant for each other and this was a really good read. I am looking forward to reading Brutal Proposals when it comes out!
I haven't completed a book in one sitting for quite some time. I like this story I wasn't expecting it to be that good. One thing I know is that Cassia Quinn never disappoints at all. Like Cassia said, it is a long book, but I didn't feel it at all; it was really smooth, and I didn't even notice the time while reading it.
❗️Spoiler(?):
When I saw the tw list I was not prepared for it to be that long. But I forgot how thoughtful Cassia is of us. [thanks gal] I wasn't prepared to fall in love with Cian and Ravenna so quickly, but I did, and I'm really happy that we also got a bonus scene 🥳. I think after Ravenna and Cian healed I healed with them. I'm also thrilled about their miracles, they deserve it so much. Ravenna is an amazing woman who is rational and sensible. I love her protectiveness toward her loved ones especially towards her sister, cousins and husband (even if he sometimes was a stronzo🤭). Cian is a man who needed encouragement to heal from his past traumas, and I'm happy that Cassia included him seeking help and not just hiding the dirt under the rug just for a quicker happy ending. Thanks to the amazing author Cassia Quinn for her amazing work again and again. I really enjoyed reading this story and I hope you enjoy reading it as well.

Now for my Review
I received this as an ARC and I was not disappointed!! This is a mafia romance, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage. I could not put this book down it was so fast and kept me hooked on the storyline. This book follows Ravenna and Cian’s story. This book starts with Ravenna having to step in and marry Cian instead of her sister who is missing the day of the wedding. I at first didn’t like how Cian was so rude, grumpy and very guarded but it definitely built up his character’s storyline. I loved how Ravenna was sassy, stubborn, courageous, resilient I loved that about her. The way she challenged Cian was chef’s kiss. Their chemistry was off the charts!! but they both had past traumas that made it a struggle for them to trust each other. But this book really showed the growth of the FMC and MMC and how they overcame their past traumas for themselves and for each other. The story line just flowed, and I didn’t feel like anything was rushed or happened quickly. I definitely recommend this book, definitely will be a re-read for me. Can’t wait for the next book in the series
Corrupt Promises is a mafia inspired dark romance that will suck you in and leave you wanting more. The plot and characters are well written and will have you on an adventure and you will find yourself not wanting to stop reading.
The characters are well written and will have you wanting more from the family line and finding out more and more about their mafia world and everything that entails. You have Ravenna a mafia princess and a woman who has dealt with a lot of crap with her family but mostly her father. He was completely awful to her, then she finds out she’ll be wed to an Irish mob boss to cement their alliance.
Then you have Cian, The Beast and the Irish boss. He hasn’t had it easy either and got betrayed by his own blood. He takes this union to show his loyalty to his own people and to show he won’t make them do anything he wouldn’t. He just wants what he wants and no questions. He definitely is an alpha male and wants control, but when he meets Ravenna that is tested and other stuff comes out from his past and it may hurt their future… Read and find out if Ravenna & Cian get their happily ever after. In this tale of betrayal, suspense, and spicy dark romance. You won’t be disappointed.
Cassia Quinn's Corrupt Promises is a gripping story of love and revenge that draws you in from the very first page. What begins as a marriage of convenience to end a war quickly turns into a complex game of passion and intrigue. The author skillfully builds tension between the main characters—Cian O'Rourke, the wounded but powerful “Beast,” and Ravenna Pontrelli, who courageously and cleverly takes her sister's place. Their initially hostile and suspicious relationship gradually evolves, and unexpected emotions begin to surface beneath the tough threats and apparent hatred. The dynamic relationship between Cian and Ravenna is fascinating, with his angry threats mixed with passionate kisses, taking the reader through ups and downs. If you're looking for a suspenseful romance with well-developed characters and surprising twists and turns, Corrupt Promises is the perfect choice. It's a story about how lies and secrets can lead to true feelings that can overcome even the greatest obstacles.
Ok, YES! Loved this book OMW it was so good I am ready to read every book Cassia has written
The ups, the downs, the good and the bad it was all perfectly tangled together to give us this Dark Mafia Romance
From arranged marriage, hidden identity, break ups and make ups, to past trauma and current drama this book had it all
Honestly with everything that happened in the first 40% I really couldn't see what else could happen and the writing just kept me invested I had to know what Cassia had in store. And she delivered
We get everything we need from the characters stories, the right details at the right moments we watch them grow as individuals and as a couple. Their history truly helps make them who they are and they are both stronger individuals, they are perfect for each other
I know this is book 4 and there are minor character spoilers in this book from the previous 3 but that will not stop me from reading the first 3 books, Nope I need those back stories and I am really looking forward to the next book in this series
The queen of mafia romance has done it again 👑👏 We have been waiting four books for Ravenna and Cian's love story 😍 It was WORTH THE WAIT!
First off, this book does a great job weaving in previous storylines, so this book does cover a longer time period compared to the previous novels in this series. Even with that, I do think this book would still be great as a standalone as the author gives enough backstory - I do want to go back and re-read the other books in this series now, though 😅
Some of my favorite tropes in this book include touch her and die 😈, beauty x beast ✨️, and third act break up ❤️🩹
As with all books in this series, the spice was HAWT ❤️🔥 I rate this book a 4.25/5 spice, with some explicit sex scenes 😘 "Pulling out, I drop to my knees, steadying her with my hold on her slim waist. I lift her trembling legs over my shoulders and lap at her 😻, tasting our unique, mixed flavor" 🌶🌶🌶🌶
I can't wait for Brutal Proposal and hopefully a Bane Brothers series 🤞
4.5 stars I really enjoyed this book, although it’s a bit longer than my usual reads. The storyline flowed nicely and had some nice twists. Some parts were fast paced while others were not, but the story is anything but boring. Just when you sit back and relax there’s another twist coming.
It was obvious why Cian was called The Beast, he’s scarred inside and out, but somehow he and Ravenna were perfect for one another. She kept her faith in him, despite the fact that he had trouble believing her. I don’t know if I could have been so patient with him, lol.
“You’re mine, Irlandese, and I’m yours. That means forever and always no matter what life throws at us.”
This is a new to me author and this book can be read as a standalone story, I didn’t miss any information to understand the family dynamics, but I would love to read the previous books in this series as well.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Cian and Ravenna have been through horrible trauma, and my heart broke for them. Finding out why they call him a beast and learning about how truly cruel and twisted her brother really was just heartbreaking.
This book captures the realities of marriage, from the ups to the downs, the good to the bad, and even the downright ugly. Despite everything thrown at them, they persevered and weathered the storm together.
Each book gets a little better, but this book was as close to chef’s kiss that this storyline could give us. Maybe I love me some twisted, messed up mmc but Cian is the best. His past, although it had a chokehold on him, it didn’t stop him from falling head over heels for Ravenna almost right away. Although Cian was supposed to be marrying Elena in an arranged marriage as a peace treaty with the Italians. But when Elena is nowhere to be found, and knowing the family needs this pact, Ravenna steps in as her twin sister…without informing him of the switch. What follows is an amazing love story between two people in an arranged marriage; one with trust issues because of a past relationship, and one who should have wanted to leave time and time again, but refused to give up on the man that saved her. Just thinking about Cian and Ravenna makes me smile.
I absolutely loved this book! Cassia Quinn’s writing flows effortlessly and had me engaged right from the start.
I adored the main characters, Ravenna and Cian. Ravenna’s vulnerability, sass, and strength make her such a compelling heroine—she’s more than a match for Cian and refuses to be a doormat in their arranged marriage. Cian might come across as big and tough, but he has his own demons to fight. Underneath it all, he’s a complete softie for Ravenna, and it’s clear how deeply he loves her.
Their chemistry was fantastic, and I appreciated how their love evolved naturally and at a perfect pace. They were so sweet together—she is his Broc Meala, and he is her Irlandese.
I also enjoyed the involvement of Ravenna’s cousins and their husbands throughout the story, which added great depth and family dynamics. I’m really looking forward to Elena and Maximo’s story next!
Thank you, Cassia, for the ARC — this is my honest review.
What an amazing story! Ravenna and Cian together made this an exciting story.
Her sister disappears on the day of her arranged marriage so Ravenna agrees to marry Irish Mafia Don, Cian in her place.
So much danger, drama and a plot that kept me captured. These characters were so well written, I felt like I was part of the story. Ravenna was a smart, fiesty young woman very protective of her twin sister Elena. But Ravenna marrying Cian was the best thing for her. Cian was very flawed from a traumatic past that leads him to not trust easily.
These two personalities were so fantastic together. The slow build of the relationship but not only that, the chemistry they displayed was a delight to read about. Bought our all the emotions.
A beautifully written book and one I highly recommend. So good!!
I really enjoy Cassia Quinn’s books. I enjoy how the stories in this series build together but can also be read separately. This was my first Mafia series and now I am hooked. If you never have read a darker series this is a great one to start at.
I anxiously anticipated Corrupt Promises because of the ending of Forever Fake. I was already invested in Ravenna and Cians story. So from the first chapter I was hooked because I needed to know what was going to happen and what led to that moment. I really enjoyed learning about Ravenna and Cian’s back story. All these stories in the twisted arrangement series have a dark story line that the characters have to overcome. Ravenna is so strong and she helps Cain overcome his demons.
Plus this book has a playlist which I absolutely love. It is a great list of songs.
This book has everything mafia, arranged marriage and rivalry. I honestly love the development you get read of the love story between the two main characters and what a love story that is. Really like that you also get to know different characters in a story. The suspense in his book was hot and amazing.
Honestly, couldn’t put this book down and the way the author has written this story makes sure that you had to continue reading On to see what happens. This has definitely become one of my favourite books.
If you love mafia stories and arrange marriages, this is definitely the book for you. I honestly would recommend this story to anyone that likes this genre. You will definitely not regret reading this book.
Really can’t wait to read more books from this author.
