Three players in the game, their pawn in a gilded cage.
I didn't know why they had brought me back or what they wanted from me. They should have let me die in that room of pain and shame, but instead they've hidden me away, kept me under the attentive eyes of dangerous men unaccustomed to the likes of me in their midst.
I was sure my useless bodyguard and father-in-law never expected me to become attached to the ambitious, damaged, and unhinged men they stashed me with, but I was no longer concerned with what they thought of me.
Free of the monster I'd married, I planned to live my life on my terms… until it was made clear I was expected to honor my obligations or face the consequences. No matter which way I chose, my life wasn't my own. I wasn't sure it ever had been, or if it ever would be.
The Redemption of Shelby Ann is the second installment in the Twisted Love series, a dark, contemporary reverse harem. This series will have an eventual HEA, but it's going to take some patience to get there. 18+/Mature audiences only - dark content that isn't for anyone with reading restrictions.
Emma Cole is a multi-genre romance author covering everything from dark and light contemporary to paranormal and sci-fi. Almost all of her stories are, or will be, from the reverse harem subcategory, and none of them skimp on the heat.
This book was a longgggg time coming, and while I enjoyed it,it was very confusing. It jumped around some, we got multiple POV’s and new characters. There were a lot of reveals, but a lot of questions presented as well. This book also wasn’t very dark at all compared to book 1. The formatting and jumping around plot made it difficult for me to follow.
A long awaited sequel- this review may have spoilers. The Redemption of Shelby Ann picks up where book one, the Degradation of Shelby Ann left off. Poor Shelby is in an undisclosed location healing from Dirk and Milo’s last “session” and trying to piece together what happened. Meanwhile there’s her former bodyguard, Carter, who isn’t quite the savior she hoped him to be and some new men put in charge to keep her safe but also just keep her where she is. As she heals from her near death experience the story follows her journey through that process, but also alludes to more trouble on the horizon for our girl. Along the way Shelby starts to fall for her keepers (this is Why Choose afterall) while she navigates life after Dirk. Everyone is definitely keeping something from her and this book ends on a cliffhanger…again! I hope the wait is not as long this time, but Emma Cole delivered yet again and I’ll be eagerly awaiting book 3!
Wow what a ride! The second book was well worth the wait! My heart broke time and time again for Shelby Ann but I have a feeling something is stirring and book 3 will be epic.
There are so many TWs in this book, yes it’s dark but it is fantastic! Well done emma Cole, another amazing book!
I'm really loving this series it's full of all the dark things and more. I love the new characters and the new Shelby. We learn more of who Shelby is and where she comes from. I can't wait for the next book!!
Book one left me want me and this sure gave me the more I was after. Well written compact and a great read, the past may come back and make a reappearance. Full of drama action and as you would expect another great cliffhanger. Definitely a good read.
Just what was that ending😱 It took me a minute to remember how the 1st book had ended and thanks to the arthur for her little bit of help in remembering what had happened in the 1st book granted that last chapter was rough. I was truly on the path of wanting Shelby to get her answers as bad as I was wanting answers. I still want to know what that girl signed as secrets are unraveling a little at a time. I swear it's like pulling string one after another just to get to another string that needs to unravel. Ugh I need the next book to know what's going to happen.
With great anticipation, I awaited the release of this book, having exercised patience for two years. However, upon its arrival, I found myself underwhelmed and perplexed by the confusing nature of the concluding chapters. While I have thoroughly enjoyed many of her previous works, this particular book, unfortunately, falls short of expectations.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for this book for a year, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint—at least not in the way I expected. After the emotional rollercoaster of The Degradation of Shelby Ann, I went into this one thinking it would be the end of the story, with everything tied up in a neat little bow. But nope. What I got instead was Shelby Ann trying to doing some serious work on herself, figuring out who she is, diving into recovery, processing truths as they unfold, trying to decide who she can and can’t trust and confronting the way her body reacts to…well, quite a few things. It wasn’t a simple wrap-up, and I’m so glad it wasn’t.
The addition of multiple love interests really threw me off at first, but I ended up loving the buildup and how it all unfolded. Bridget and Jake Bordeaux’s narration helped keep me hooked. Their voices brought the story to life and kept me interested, even during a few slower moments.
And then—oh, then—the way it ended. I finished the book, stopped, stared at my phone, and couldn’t believe it was over. I need more, like yesterday. This story is gripping, and while there are moments you might want to scream at Shelby (don’t worry, we’ve all been there), you won’t stay frustrated for long. You’ll be too thirsty for the next part. So, author, if you’re reading this: please, for the love of Shelby, finish writing and give us the rest of her story!
WE’RE BACK BAABBYY! After The Degradation of Shelby Ann, I instantaneously dove headfirst into this as I could not wait to see the outcome of what happened to Shelby, and if those fuckers got what was coming to them.
And with the title of “Redemption” it sounded like shit was going to HIT THE FAN and all hell was going to break loose. But Shelby had some previous demons to process which resulted in unfortunate long processes of healing and anxiety/panic attacks to handle first. Not only that, but with new faces that she didn’t recognise. I will admit, I definitely thought there was going to be more in this book than just healing and panic attacks, which I can admittedly understand that would take a while. Regardless, eventually shit did hit the fan and it was CHAOTIC.
However, with how the book ended, I was not fucking EXPECTING THAT. Like HOLY FUCKING SHIT. What a GAME CHANGER. Of course, the cliffhanger ending I was expecting as the first book ended like that, but my jaw was dragging along the floor. I am excited to see what happens in the next instalment of the Twisted Love series, and I am DYING for a happily ever after… eventually.
Cliffhanger(?) Yes! Relationship Type: CURRENTLY under construction, so Technically a RH> Reverse Harem: MFMMM technically right now. I believe there will be an additional 2(?) M/M(?): No. Heat: 3.5/5 Romance: 3.5/5 Dark(?): Not really to me, no. But I really hope it will be darker again in the next book. ☺️ Drama: 4/5 Suspense: 3.5-4/5
I see the book the way it was, and I actually enjoyed this book, and my take away is that This Book is a Bridge Book, this book focuses mainly on Shelby healing cause she was rescued from Darknessin the previous, the next book I believe due to the ending in this one, I believe will be Dark again.
There will be more details and in-depth details in the next book I’m sure. And along awaited answers that were questions in this book. You don’t really see what the guys are doing in their POV’s in here, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be a focus in the next book and a smoother ride.
I can’t wait to see how Dark it’s going to be in Book 3, and see the growth in Shelby.
Have you stalked the release of book 2 for Shelby Ann's story too? Just me? READ IT! I'm so happy that book 2 came to be and it was definitely worth the wait!
Poor Shelby Ann's left us on the edge of our seats at the end of book 1 at the action packed ending and all of the heart breaking things she had to endure.
Book 2 begins with her slowly realizing she did not die as she wished and she has no idea who these men are or where she is being held. She is so badly injured that she cannot communicate right away and is basically at their mercy. Will these hot guys hurt her too or are they her protectors?
Enter Carter back into the dumpster fire who is hiding a big secret! And..... By the time poor Shelby Ann puts all the pieces together. You guessed it! We are on the edge of our seats again! 😵💫🫠
The Redemption of Shelby Ann is the second book in the Twisted Love series. It is imperative that you read this series in order. The last book, The Degradation of Shelby Ann was left on a cliffhanger and this book picks up where it left off.
The Redemption of Shelby Ann is another dark and twisted book filled with characters with tortured backgrounds and presently has danger lurking around every corner. The overall series arc continues and introduces new and compelling yet unpredictable characters. Many secrets are still hidden and some explosive events are revealed but… we are left with another exciting cliffhanger or two, or three and I cannot wait for the next book in this riveting and dramatic series!
You must check the trigger warnings the author has provided, there are many things here that could be concerning to sensitive readers.
I feel like I was waiting forever for part 2 of Shelby but it was definitely worth the wait. Although Emma you really are killing me with the cliff-hangers!
We pick off where we left off from the end of book 1 with her having escaped her horrible situation, but is she safe or has she went out of the frying pan and in to the fire?
Whilst this is a slower burn and not as dark as the first instalment I loved watching Shelby heal and open herself up to new opportunities/people. With more secrets being revealed, more questions arose that I was desperate for the answers for but it seems like we are firmly with Shelby on this ride and will have to wait for the final instalment to (hopefully) get her HEA.
the book begins wonderfully with a recapitulation of the first book considering that some time has passed since the first book appeared. I am grateful to Emma Cole for that because there were aspects I had forgotten. the book brings new characters with whom it is a bit difficult to keep up with at the beginning and in addition the action is a slower burn in this one, but it seems to me that it prepares everything perfectly for the last chapter where a lot of confusion is clarified for us and especially for the next book. I received an ARC for this book, but even if I hadn't I would have read it because I loved the first book. I can't wait to see what's in store for Shelby Ann!
I was eager to read the second book in the Twisted Love Series as I enjoyed the first book quite a lot. But unfortunately this one fell a bit flat for me, at times I felt a bit bored and wanted to skim through and in some parts of the book I was left confused. I am going to continue with the series as I am invested to see what happens to Shelby Ann after all the revelations were made in the end. Be warned, it ends on a cliffy.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have been waiting on this book for what felt like forever! So it makes me a little sad to only give this 3 stars. The book just didn’t quite get it right, it felt like it was written totally different to the first book. It dragged, some places I was bored and some parts felt completely pointless. It felt like this book was written because the author needed to get something out there because apart from the last 10% of the book I’m not really sure what else we got from it.
I hope the next book shows us why this one was so slow!
It was not fully taking my attention i think i need more of actions in my reads for me to get better involved in them i was also confused sometimes and not able to keep up having te reread previous pages.
Overall i do think its a good book and it had some dark but interesting aspects in them too so id still recommend it for others who are more intrested in these kinds of reads!
Personally I did like it but i dont think id reread it anytime soon! 🖤
This series is getting better and better. Poor Shelby I feel like she can catch a break. I so ready to see her fully happy. The guys are dark and cr@zy but good for her at the same time. The story the plot, the secrets and the twist were on point. They got me needing more and more.
Shelby Ann's tale is back and you'll all have been craving more since bk1s cliffy, this one starts of slow but soon speads up, with past and present entwined, the deeds of the past may resurfaced but where will it leave them all gping forward! Well written engaging, dark themes, drama, desires, action and another cliffy ending! I can't wait for more!
Wow book two just really fast paced and having kept my attention full on until the end. I just had to know what happened next. There is several pov's that had me taking a second to catch up to what was going on, there was alot of jumping around a lot. There was some reveals and some more questions that I had. Overall this was a great addition to this series.
Emma Cole has done it once again. I'm so glad to know how Shelby was after what happened. She still doesn't have an easy road but she's a survivor. I can't wait until book 3.... I must know more! Lol. If you need a good read. Emma Cole has that handled.
This is not great. The way the character is written after being taken out of the situation she was in isn't done well. She just starts having sex with the guys in the place that's helping her, and how she's surrounded by all these men that love her and want her. It was crap to be honest.

Listen. It’s been a LONG time since a book left me utterly speechless but here I am. What an absolutely TWISTED story. That last chapter has me in a chokehold of WHAT!? I’m already chomping at the bit for the next book. Holy wow. Just speechless.
Honestly… im just confused at this point. I dont know if this was written intentionally to confuse the reader but my head was spinning by the end and honestly not in a good way.
