The Cotton Candy Massacre: Part Treats

Rate this book
Taste the carnage once more as the award-winning Cotton Candy Massacre series continues.

The book you are about to read chronicles the carnage that occurred on Halloween night, 1989, in the quaint town of Charleston.

Many would flock there for the Hardstack Halloween Festival.

Most would not live to see midnight.

They would fall victim to one of the most bizarre and brutal events in the annals of American history. An event whose body count would dwarf the Bonkin's Bonanza incident.

An event that would come to be known as...

I gave books one and two 5 Stars… I would have given book three 5 Stars - however, the Raccoon that thought like a human kept bringing me out of the story! 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Where do I even start with this review?! Part Treats is an absolute circus of terror and delight! It features a fresh cast of characters (as well as reoccurring ones), Heavy Metal madness, a Halloween Festival gone haywire, a cute raccoon clown named Twizzler that’ll haunt your dreams and utter wereclown pandemonium! This is the best clown b-horror/comedy series out there!

Robertson is hands-down one of my go-to indie authors, and for good reason - he weaves tales that play out like blockbuster movies in your head, complete with characters you'll actually miss when they're gone and a wicked sense of humor that'll have you giggling through even the most gruesome creative kills. Maybe I’ve had a taste of the tainted cotton candy myself?! Oh wait, I have! Her name is Rose, you’ll find her kicking ass with her brother Angel. I totally lost my cool when the author of my favorite series had turned my brother and I into literary legends by naming characters after us - talk about ultimate fangirl freakout moment! But trust me, I'm not wearing rose-tinted glasses (no-pun intended), there’s never a dull moment in this action-packed thrill-ride, it’s a blast! It was also fun to find references to his other works in this book! I'm already salivating at the thought of plunging into the next installment of the series. Bring on more wereclown madness please!!

This is a ridiculously addictive read and it’s even cooler with Robertson curating a Spotify playlist to give it that full-on cinematic vibe. Grab this if you're ready for a screaming good time and consider joining the delightfully dysfunctional Bonko's Family this Halloween - just don't say they didn't warn you about the gore-fest that awaits. Out October 13th!

Many thanks to the author for an ARC of this AWESOME book in exchange for an honest review.

Part treats did not disappoint! Old characters sticking around but some new ones being introduced and I was just as invested in the new cast! However, dear sweet raccoon clown, Twizzler, might have stolen the spotlight in this one. I loved him so much.🦝

Robertson is one of the most creative authors with gruesome, crazy kills. The gore is presented right away and keeps pace throughout the whole thing! The suspense of it all kept me eagerly turning the next page to see what shenanigans these characters would be up to next. It amazes me that through the absolute chaos the story is solidly intact and comes together beautifully.

I’m looking forward to what’s sure to be an epic conclusion to this series.

Also, candy corn has always been my favorite candy at Halloween. I’ll be second guessing every piece I eat now thinking of this book 🤣

I am devour these books like the clowns in this book devour the people in TCCM.

These books are not like other series where the books can’t stand up to the first one but these books have such great plots that they reel you in book by book.

I love seeing little snippet of returning characters like Hannah and Sully.

The gore in this book will turn your stomach in a good way. I don’t know if I’ll be able to look at sugar cookies and pies the same way again.

I am so ready for the F-f-ffinal Chapter.

Such a fun read, as always! The writing style of these is the best. Reading a book that is written as if you were watching it on a screen is such a fun experience. Can’t wait for the final installment next winter!!

Thank you to the author for the ARC.

The Cotton Candy Massacre series has quickly become my all-time favourite.
Once again, we are taken on a rollercoaster ride through a carnival of chaos, where each page is packed with inventive and fun kills, shocking twists, and characters you can't help but root for (or against!).
I am in awe of Christopher Robertson's talent for creating vivid, gruesome sequences on one page and then being able to weave in moments of levity that keep you laughing even as you're biting your nails on the next.
By book three, you expect a series to start taking a sour turn, yet Part Treats is nothing short of perfection.

Also, Twizzler is the sweetest little angel and can do no wrong in my eyes.

THE COTTON CANDY MASSACRE PART TREATS - Christopher Robertson
💀
4.5/5 ⭐️
💀
Flashback: Rob standing there staring down at his phone. The Cotton Candy Massacre staring up at him from the Audible App "purchase with 1 credit" beneath the creepy clown cover art. Nervousness gripped at him, he'd heard about this book. He wasn't sure it was something he'd be able to handle, but life had been kicking him in the balls repeatedly so honestly, how bad could it be? His thumb hovered over the button. Tap. "Fuck it" he thinks, putting in an earbud.

Fast Forward: Rob puts down his paperback copy of The Cotton Candy Massacre Part Treats. A smile on his face, satisfied with yet another incredible story in the chaotic universe of blood thirsty murder clowns. F-F-F-FINAL CHAPTER WINTER 2025 can't F-F-F-FUCKING come fast enough!

Part Treats is the third installment of my favorite book series ever. Something about the way these books delve into pure chaos brings the biggest smile to my face. Truth be told I was nervous with the start of this book, it felt like it took a moment to really get into its stride but I knew the payoff would be tenfold. I was right. What starts with a revenge-crazed chemistry nerd devolves into clowntastic horrors that would've given Buster B Bonkin himself a rock hard stiffy. Though it seems he's not pleased these clowns come from some off brand bullshit handmade candy corn. Once the wereclowning begins, not a page goes by that isn't filled with gore-soaked fun for the whole f-f-f-family! I can't wait to see how the finale plays out!

The installment I needed! Part treats is a wild ride where we get a few returning characters, nods to the first two books and nods to other books in the Christopher Robertson universe! This book has the horror start early and it doesn't stop, even during the epilogue and credits. Robertson has defied the trope of the third installment being the worst because this is right up there with its predecessors!

Arc review
I was so excited for part treats and I can honestly say Christopher Robertson did not disappoint. The gore and the carnage is definitely amped up in this installment and it is oh so amazing! With tie ins to the first 2 books in the series and slight nods to other books he's written this was fantastic. This has become one of my all time favorite series and he has become a one of my favorite authors. I cannot recommend this book enough. It's f f funfor the whole family! 🤡

Twizzelrs are my favorite horror character. A wereclown raccoon is way to cool not to obssess over. Altough I rather meet non wereclown raccoons. Each book are very diffrent from eachother with the setting, plot and characters altough they still work perfectly as a series and each book gives a bigger picture. Looking forward to the next book.

4 stars!

First of all, thank you Christopher for providing me with an ARC!

Let’s just say, Christopher did it AGAIN with this 3rd installment in the TCCM saga. Lots of clowns, gore, badass characters and one chonky lil fella with the name Twizzler.

The story continues with Hannah who wants to bring back her best friend Sully after she was killed during the chaos of Bonkin’s Bonanza after the reopening of the carnaval. The Hardstacks are trying to come back from all the drama after what Ruth did in part 1.

The epilogue ending had me gasping with that plot twist, and i can’t wait for the last installment and getting all the answers we want and need. 🩷

killer clowns ✅
Lots and lots of gore ✅
Epic rock concert ✅

The atmosphere is quite different from the first two books, but as fun and emotional as ever. The characters are deeply flawed yet touching, which makes them very interesting.

I loved the first two books in this series and part three definitely didn’t disappoint! I was pleasantly surprised in this third story because we had a whole new lineup of characters. This time it also took place outside of the carnival and at a heavy metal concert! What a nice change of scenery 🤘

I don’t want to spoil anything for future readers so I’m keeping this review short and simple. The tainted cotton candy has taken toll on these concert goers and as previous readers know from the first two books, this cotton candy turns people into psychopathic were-clowns!

I had fun reading this one and Robertson did a wonderful job keeping this reader hooked as there was never a dull moment and it was absolutely filled with the chaos that I expected!

Thank you, Christopher, for this ARC. Cotton Candy Massacre: Part Treats will be available on October 13th, 2024.

So, there's no secret how much I adore these stories, this series, these characters. And I absolutely think you should pick it up immediately. Especially if you're into a little of the ol' ultra violence. Where the first two were brilliantly gory, this one is ten times that. And it's magnificent. Read it. Immediately.

This was one of my most anticipated releases when it got announced. I am a big fan of this series and my hype grew when I heard that it would involve a bigger scale like the first installment.

The characters here are all quite likeable, and even the antagonists are ones that you love to hate. It is a continuation of the character introduced in Part Toots and gives more insight on her motivations which I enjoyed. It also introduces a new cast of characters which are fun to follow through the story. Unfortunately, However, I won't dock points for that because although I would have liked that inclusion, its just a personal preference and the story doesn't suffer without it. Robertson set out to tell the story of a different cast and he does just that in classic Terror Scope fashion.

The violence and gore in here are awesome in some scenes and cringe inducing in others (in a good way!) Robertson pulls no punches and will have you worrying if your favorites will make it out alive. Character deaths can happen at any moment so be ready and cherish the time you get with each member of the cast before The Honkening begins again!

This novel is a bit of a return to form of the first book with its large scale setting and bigger cast of characters than the second book which was more personal story. It answers some questions, leaves you with others, and ultimately keeps you wanting more! I would have liked a bit more clarity on the fate of some of the characters at the end and some more time in the aftermath of the event; but at the end of the day, I enjoyed the hell out of this book and am looking forward to The F-F-F-Final Chapter to see how Robertson wraps up this amazing series.

I fear this review is just going to be me regurgitating my thoughts from the previous 'Cotton Candy' books. This has all the pulpy, gory, clown crazed fun of its predecessors whilst adding some solid world building. It does a fantastic job of tying in the previous two books as well as the short story prequel. We have a new cast of characters (and a couple we've met before) and they are another great ensemble to follow, providing real moments of humour, horror and heart. There is also heavy referencing to two of my favourite movies ever and even a chapter title that is a possible Easter egg to a goosebumps book. All that wraps together to provide a very fitting conclusion to one of my all-time favourite trilogies (literary or otherwise) and that's the toot-tootin' truth!

Part 3 of this original and gore-splattered series and the fun doesn't let up. Whereas book 2 was intimate and claustrophobic, this one goes BIG with a fairground, a pyro-fuelled metal show, a resurrection, a quirky little raccoon...and clowns galore!

Everything here is amped up from previous editions. The characters are more extreme, the dark humour is even darker, and the deaths are some of the most outlandish of this series yet. Bring your waterproofs as chances are something will splatter on you.

To be honest, the best way to describe this story can be found in the prose itself..."a chaotic cacophony of carnival cruelty." Spot on, no notes...bring on the f-f-f-finale!

Apparently I'm not a good ARC reader, because (even though it was my first) I took a long time to read it 😅 Thank you to Christopher Robertson for giving me the opportunity though!

But hot'damn this was great! 🤘🏻

Honestly, I feel like the story just keeps getting better & better. The gore, the plot thickening, to fuze everything together. It was amazing! & I can't wait to see where it all ends (& begins, I should say)

Reading these books is like watching a horror movie in your head. & I know I keep saying how I don't like clowns but, I think I'm really starting to enjoy them 😂 LMAO

This is the long awaited treat-quel to the series full of utter clown carnage. I was beyond excited to pick up this book and see what kind of gruesome gore Christopher Robertson dreamed up this time.

The first half of the book wasn't hitting the same way the first two had, but by the end, I felt the familiar comfort of... violent discomfort and really liked how the story panned out. As in the first two, we are getting the return of the wereclowns, the culprit this time: tainted candy corn. Oh, and because it deserves a special shoutout: Twizzler, the furry fiend who stole everyone's hearts (and quite a few lives).

In true nature, this book is also formatted as if you were watching a slasher film, with "cut to" descriptions and visual descriptors to aid in the overall vision.
- I feel like a lot of the first half of this book felt disjointed and didn't flow as well as I was hoping. Some of the scenes felt like they were just thrown in for extra violence without really flowing from one to the next. This made it hard to follow, especially when there were a LOT of characters introduced throughout.
- We follow a main group of teens, as in the previous books as well. And the story does return to them mostly. But some additional scenes focusing on other random people in town made it a little hard to tell what was important and what was just to show the reign of carnage. This is no different from book one, but somehow it felt less cohesive in this one.

The plot is described as being focused on a heavy metal festival, but it actually is a carnival + festival + the literal entire town. So the stakes are much higher and the chaos is much more widespread.
- The music festival element was VERY fun. The guitar battle? Iconic. I wish more had happened at/with the stage location because it feels like a lot of the action was unrelated to the music portion.
- The carnival scenes felt repetitive of book one. A lot of the rides and booth kills felt familiar. Yes, they were different, but I kind of wish that it was not a carnival/fair setting again.

Hannah is back from book two and she plays a VERY important role in this one, which I liked, but also... didn't?
- This is potentially spoilery, so I'll hide it.

The blood and guts were spilled and it was a beautifully violent story, as expected. As always, so many creative ways to die. For lovers of splatterpunk and all things bloody, this will give you everything you want. I found a new gag reflex so that's cool.

The ENDING? Dang. I am very intrigued and impatiently waiting for the final installment to see what kind of absolutely unhinged story can come next.

Thank you to the author for the free e-ARC. My review is completely my own, completely voluntary, and always completely honest.

Following on from the events of the OG Cotton Candy Massacre and the thrill ride that was Part Toots, Roberson returns to delight us with Part Treats.

Plans are well underway for the Halloween festival with lots of exciting events including live music from Charleston’s own ‘Hellfyre’. The only rule…. No clown costumes.
Unfortunately Hannah has other ideas. Still not over the loss of her friend, she puts her own plans into motion and from there we will get to witness a whole new massacre.

I loved both of the previous books, and I think Part Treats actually came out above Part Toots for me in terms of enjoyment. The pace was pacing, the gore was goring, and it felt like a high octane thrill ride from beginning to end. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there is so much going on in this book that while absolute mayhem, it melded together seamlessly in a way I was truly in awe of.

Clownweenies

Loved This read in the series so far and looking forward to the next. The clowns are back and are on full throttle to destroy everyone and everything in their path. Hannah a friend of silly desperately misses her and wants to find a way to bring her back, but will she go to the extreme lengths to do so, or will it even work. The Hardstack candy factory owner fights to keep up appearances and his daughter's both have hidden agenda.
A full action packed, non stop gore fest of twists and turns, losses and clown feasting throughout the whole read. A great plot that follows the previous read and no doubt the next. You won't be bored reading this massacre of bonkins clown fest. Recommended!

4.5 rounded up to 5.

Thanks to the author and TerrorScope Studios for an advanced copy of Part Treats!

I love this series so much. It has heart and gore and humor. There are strong friendships and sweet romances. Part Treats was no exception. I really liked that the focus was on Hannah from Part Toots, along with the introduction of several new characters. I also loved that there was justice for Sully - I always felt sad with how things ended for her in the first novel. Twizzler was also a fun addition - make sure you read the post-credits scenes! A cute little raccoon-turned-clown was a fun little side-character and storyline. Additionally, I'll never view cookies the same way again 🤢 IYKYK 😅.

I'm super excited for the fourth and final installment next year - and as always, I have no idea where this crazy story is going to go, but I know it will definitely be a TREAT. 😂❤️

Do you like tainted candy, killer clowns, zombies, and a homicidal raccoon? Then this book is just for you. Welcome back to Charleston Halloween 1989 months after the events of the first two books. I hope you enjoy your visit and survive the night that the WereClowns come out to play.

I liked the book. It is not as good as the first two were. The flow was choppy due to the constant changing of characters with the authors writing the following “Cut to:” after separating the scenes with candy corn border. It felt unnecessary. Be on the lookout for the fourth and final book cooking out in winter 2025. The Cotton Candy Massacre The F-F-F-Final Chapter that takes place New Years Eve 1989.
