**A second-chance, fake dating, Christmas steamy hockey romance**
Brent and Zoey
What’s worse than attending my sister’s wedding without a date? Attending it with my ex-fiancé, Liam, as the Groom’s best man… and the guy who dumped me two weeks before our own nuptials.
This weekend was supposed to be simple… witnessing my sister marry the love of her life in a fairytale Christmas Eve wedding in my home town of San Diego, spend Christmas morning at my parents’ house, and then fly back home to Seattle to ring in the New Year while wondering where my life went wrong.
But with the stress of my ex-fiancé bringing the woman he left me for almost a year ago, I’ll have to plaster on a fake smile, a pretend that avoid my ex-fiancé.
Easy enough, right?
But when all hell breaks loose on the flight back to San Diego and I’m seated next to Brent Tomlin, the Hawkeyes hockey golden boy, a groomsman in my sister’s wedding, and the man who stood me up prom night ten years ago, I have to wonder if the universe has it out for me.
Brent offers me a he’ll pretend to be my fake boyfriend for the weekend to make my ex-fiancé want me back, if I agree to go to his grandmother’s birthday party over the weekend.
Now I’m stuck fake dating Brent, who has no problem playing the role of my doting boyfriend. Worse? He’s making it all too convincing.
The goal was to make my ex jealous and want me back, but somehow, I’m the one struggling to keep my feelings in check.
Falling for Brent is definitely not part of the plan.
This was supposed to be fake... so why does it feel so real?
*** All books in this series are standalone in the same hockey universe and can be read in any order; however, there may be potential for spoilers if they are not read in chronological order due to prior HEAs already occurring for other players on the team. Reading order is recommended. Happy reading!
As an avid reader myself, and a Westcoast girl, I love two things: swoon-worthy pro athlete book boyfriends, and writing stories about them living in the beautiful Northwest where I'm blessed to call home.
I do my best work late at night after I’ve tucked in my three littles, and my hard-working husband.
3.75 ⭐️ Embarrassed to say i actually really liked this. Something about fake dating ridiculousness, I love. Was it good? No. Did they fall in love in 3 days? Yes. Do I care? Apparently not.
This is such a cute holiday book without it being over the top Christmas. It’s set a few days before Christmas and has some holiday vibes, but it’s not overly hallmark.
I loved Zoey and Brent’s relationship. The hate to love was so good and I love a good fake dating moment.
The chemistry and HEAT - sheesh. Thank you Kenna for that, I’ll be blushing from now until the next book.
❤️🔥One Bed ❤️🔥Second Chance ❤️🔥Holiday Read ❤️🔥Fake Dating
Perfect Score by Kenna King is a good blend of sports romance and holiday charm!
Set a couple of days before Christmas, the story follows Brent and Zoey. It's been a decade or more since they last saw each other, but now they're on the same flight to San Diego. To make her fiance jealous, she's looking for a date for her sister's wedding, while he's looking for a date for his grandmother's birthday to ease her worry about him. This will result in them pretending to date each other.
Their playful banter and heartfelt moments make the romance feel genuine and fun.
What stands out about Perfect Score is how King develops her characters. The hero is not just a typical “playboy” athlete, but a layered character with vulnerabilities that make him easy to root for. The heroine, on the other hand, is relatable and vulnerable when it comes to someone from her past who still has influence on her, someone you’d want to be friends with in real life. Their journey together feels authentic which is tangled with obstacles from the past and the present, making the eventual happy ending all the more satisfying.
The festive/wedding backdrop adds warmth to the story, giving readers all the cozy, Christmas feels. While the plot follows familiar romance tropes, it’s executed with just the right amount of heart and sweetness.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted, feel-good holiday romance, Perfect Score is a great choice. It’s an enjoyable read, perfect for curling up with during the holiday season!
Massive Kudos to Gran, she is an amazing character who makes me root for them even more.
ARC Review: Reading this book was like watching a hallmark movie! I loved getting a good fake dating trope and this story did not disappoint. I’m normally more of a slow burn girl, so I wish this book was just a little bit longer and over a longer time period, rather than a few days. Even so, I feel like the author did a really good job of pacing the book over the days. I was never bored reading it and never felt like things were being dragged out too much. It was entertaining and cute and kept me captivated the whole time. I read it in less than a day and it’s been a long time since I’ve done that. I definitely need to read the other books in this series because I fell in love with these characters and want to know more about the Hawkeye’s Hockey team!
You’re telling me that this woman cannot forgive the guy that stood her up on prom night, but wants to get back with her ex fiancé who cheated on her and is engaged to who he cheated with? And we’re going to fake date to get that pos back?!? But we’re sooooo angry about the fake bf and prom?!? STILL??? Don’t worry, she’s going to fall out of love with the ex and into love with prom guy all over a weekend. Sure sure. Honestly. The most enraging book I’ve read in a while.
This book was so sweet and comforting. Also, this was my first ARC read so I was very positive for this book and it turned out on point on my expectations. I was giggling and laughing all the time reading this book. All the characters of book were amazing ,Pheobe was a supportive sister and her to be husband David was a pure hearted man. Tessa and Gran were the most entertaining and loving. Zoey and Brent were so funny. Their babters were so cute and entertaining. I loved the vibe they gave to each other.😈
They both were in the same high school and had a thing for each other, but could not confess because of Liam (who is a joker and I feel he should stay single forever his life because he not once, but twice broke the heart of two women).
Zoey Kloss was photographer, and when she was about to take a flight to her sisters wedding, she came to know that her sisters appointed photographer has cancelled the deal. Now she is supposed to click pictures of this wedding because of which she got a little late for the flight, the flight in which Brent Tomlin was present and they were coincidently assigned to adjacent seats🥳.
Brent's grandmother tried to set him up with every first option she gets because she was worried for him, irritated of this Brent mistakenly told her that while he's coming for her grandmother's birthday, he will bring a date with him. Now he is supposed to take a girl who will play a role of a fake girlfriend on the other hand, Zoey is supposed to take a guy with her who will play a role of a boyfriend as suggested by her sister. Phoebe recommends her that she should ask Brent whether he could come with her to the wedding or not because she wanted to make her ex-boyfriend jealous and because of double coincidence, they both agree to play fake bf gf roles. While playing the role they fell for each other, and Zoey realised that Liam was not worth it, but Brent was.
The chaos that Gran causes is too freaking funny.👀 She really is like "I'm a senior citizen and I can get away with anything" 😂her birthday party got me also the brownie deal was also hysterical Zoey looking up at Brent like "are you worth it?" And Brent being like "well cap now I gotta battle ex douche bag Liam AND the treaking brownie recipe gosh damn it"
Brent Tomlin, the MAN you are!! Mr. "Lie back. I've got you" Mr. "Picks lock with a plastic card key so he can comfort his woman." Mr. " Nothing would stop me from getting into this room right now, except you telling me not to"
Spicy scenes of the book had me on chokehold 😈
I hope you enjoy this book and I will totally recommend this book. This is so cute and comforting. Once you start this, you will not be able to keep it back.
Surely a 5 ⭐️ and 5🌶️

Idk if my review has spoilers, so imma check the box in case. 😃
In my opinion, it is such a cute book. The spicy scenes had me kicking my feet, and the banter between Brent and Zoey was too funny. Liam is a jerk head, and I kinda hope he stays single and steps on a lego because honestly, he deserves it after he treated Zoey.
Zoey Kloss, I am so happy you saw the light but my goodness woman. What took you so LONG!! Like you have a 6 foot hockey toned man and you be sitting her like "I need the man who literally cheated on me and got engaged to another woman 48 hours after he broke off our engagement, back" like honey be so for real right now. I get it her left you at prom, but like, I never got one, and I lived, lol.
All jokes aside her slowly piecing her prom delema together and then her realizing the Brent isn't the evil person she thought he was is honestly super relatable -obviously not everyone is gonna be fake dating the hot successful hockey player but you get what I'm saying-and I do find her relationship with her sister endearing also props to Pheobe, like what a supportive sister home girl is about to throw hands with Liam the douche canoe in her wedding dress on her wedding day. Like YOU GO GIRL, BEAT THAT MAN UP!!!
The chaos that Grams causes is too freaking funny. She really is the embodiment of "I'm a senior citizen and I can get away with anything" her birthday party had me cracking up 🤣🤣 the brownie deal was also hysterical Zoey looking up at Brent like "are you worth it?" And Brent being like "well cap now I gotta battle ex douche bag Liam AND the freaking brownie recipe gosh damn it" 🤣🤣🤣
Brent Tomlin, the ✨️MAN✨️ you are!! Mr. "Lie back. I've got you" Mr. "Picks lock with a plastic card key so he can comfort his woman." Mr. " Nothing would stop me from getting into this room right now, except you telling me not to"
Literally freaking SWOON *adds to lists of ever growing fictional boyfriends, then proceeds to sob because they ain't real*
Overall, I liked the book I read it in one day, but my reading speed, apparently according to my roommates, is not normal. *reads 3 books in one day*
I hope you guys enjoy the book I did, and I'm also happy that there are more books in the series cause I have a soft spot for the ice hockey trope. Those boys, no matter the author, have my heart 😩🩷

Things I loved: 1. While there was mention of characters from a book earlier in the series, it wasn’t in a way that made you feel like you’ve missed something by not reading that one first. Anything you need to know about the backstory/other characters is provided. The other books in this series feel more interconnected but this could be a true stand alone novel. 2. Fake dating has to be my absolute favourite trope, and this story did not disappoint. Specifically, it didn’t take 5+ chapters and several days worth of the timeline for the main characters to agree to fake date. It’s usually agonizing getting through the part where they are asking themselves “should I really do this??”, like, we know it’s gonna happen… no need to drag it out haha 3. It has a Hallmark movie feel, which is a good thing. 4. There is some definite spice in this book, but it’s not over the top. Over the top wouldn’t have fit this story well, so I’m glad it was proportional. And trust me, this girl loveeeees some super spice when it comes to hockey romance novels, but there’s a time and place.
Why I didn’t give it 5 stars: 1. Some of it felt rushed. The flip side of that is that very little felt like it dragged out, so it’s not all that much of a critique. 2. I don’t wanna get into spoiler territory, so without being too specific there were a couple of plot holes that were too big for me to just let it go. They didn’t ruin the book, but it distracted me enough to not want to give it 5 stars.
Overall I recommend reading it and if you haven’t checked out the rest of this series I’d recommend doing that as well!
ARC reader, definitely gonna be some spoilers ahead. First, I hope Liam stubs his toe every morning when he gets out of bed & that someone steals all of his shoe laces.
I loved the banter between Zoey & Brent & who doesn’t love Gran!!! she was a hoot & i feel like without her persuasion & cryptic talking to Zoey that we wouldn’t have gotten this happy ending. I loved this book & all of the other books in this series. Kenna King did it again & I can’t want for the next one!

I read this book in one day - the storyline was so cute and enjoyable. I love a book with banter and this one didn’t disappoint, I also love a good fake dating trope along with enemies to lovers!
The characters in the book were written in well and easy to follow! This romance book truly felt genuine. I Definitely recommend!
I would give this 3.5/5 stars if I could. This book is set within a few days however it was hard for me to get into it. The ending was cute but I wish she dived into the drama from the past more. Overall another classic Kenna King and I did enjoy it (once I really got into it).

This one was meh and it felt like it took forever even though it was only 240 pages. And all the back and forth of her loving Liam or not… I didn’t personally enjoy that.
This cute story is all the the things fake dating, hockey romance, and enemies to lovers. Brent is one swoon worthy hockey player that you just can’t help but fall head over heels for. Take a chance and read this story it will not disappoint! Happy Reading!!
4/5 ⭐️ 3.5/5 🌶️ this was a really cute steamy hockey holiday romance. It had the perfect amount of holiday charm without being too overly hallmark. Some fake dating tropes can drag on just a tad too long before realizing if they should do it or not and this one did not do that they made the decision fast to fake date. The amount of spice was the perfect amount for this story, but the spice is definitely there. Overall cute, spicy, while still charming loved it.
- hockey player x photographer - second chance romance - forced proximity - one bed - fake relationship
As always my reviews contain spoilers, don't read further if you don't want me to spoil the plot for you. This is going to be a long one 🫣
H and her ex were friends/ teammates in school and since her bf dumped her before prom, H scoops in and asks her out only to ditch her for it. She hates him ever since. Her ex bf comes back and they rekindle their relationship, date for almost a decade, get engaged only for him to dump her again two weeks before their wedding for another women. She being a lot pathetic is still pining for him a year later even though he's now engaged to the ow.
H/h meet at the current timeline when they are on a flight to a wedding where the groom is H's friend and bride is h's sister. Since she wants to make her ex jealous who is also at the wedding and he wants a date to meet his grandmother, they fake a relationship
⁉️ she is way too hung up on her ex to the point that i was cringing. That ex cheated on her, dumped her multiple times, finally just before the wedding for a random woman he met at a coffee shop . He even brings that woman to the wedding as his fiancé.
But she is so desperate that she dresses up for him, meets him alone to talk and even lets him walk her to her room after telling H to leave. She's obsessed with him up until the last 10% of the book. If this isn't pathetic idk what is.
I’ve had the same fantasy for the last year—that Liam would wake up one morning, board a plane to Seattle, and show up at my door begging me to take him back after realizing what a huge mistake he made throwing our future away This wedding weekend feels like the last chance for us. I have to hope that seeing me again will remind him of what he gave up, and he'll want me back
⁉️ The fucking prom. it happened 10 fucking years ago and she got together with her ex immediately the next morning but nooo she still whines on the fact that H didn't take her to prom. The whole book is about the missed prom
⁉️ her ex fiancé dumped her for ow but what's worse than that ? H didn't take her to prom Maybe what Liam did with Shelby was shitty, but at least he showed up the night after prom with flowers after he heard that Brent stood me up
⁉️ The pity party. h mentions again and again how H won't go for her and how she settled with her ex because he was lesser than H and that she chose him since she can't have H ??????
"It’s no wonder that there’s never a shortage of women interested in him, and it's even more reason why thinking that I ever had a chance with Brent was silly" "Deep down, I always knew that Brent was out of my league " “As if I don’t feel stupid enough for thinking you wanted to take me in the first place? Initially, it was the real reason I agreed to go out with Liam. Liam was a talented hockey player, although not at Brent’s ability. Liam had other qualities, too. He was popular in school… smart and attractive, and best of all… he was interested.
⁉️ The whole story revolves around H ditching her during prom and when this topic comes up during the rehearsal dinner, you'd think they are a bunch of teenagers and not grown ass men because the conversation goes like this
That’s right,” Ben laughs, taking a swig of his beer. “It was because you showed up at practice with a boner for Zoey, wasn’t it? She jumped you because of a clown in one of your classes? “What?” Ben says, lifting his hands up in question. “I don’t know why everyone’s so touchy about it. You’re dating Zoey now. She must give you boners all the time.”
“I don’t know… did you really get an erection when I sat on your lap? And did the entire hockey team know it was because of me?” I ask, becoming bolder than I usually am. He nods. “Yeah.” “Why did it get hard?”
⁉️ when H finds out she rented a room for after prom (like i said, prom is the whole theme of the book) “I asked Abigail to reserve a room for us since I wasn’t old enough to book it myself," I admit, tucking my hair behind my ear and stare down at the floor. “Why didn’t you tell me?” he says softly.
“What difference would it have made? Would I have been worth taking to prom if you knew I was planning on putting out for you?” I say, a little bitter at the thought now
“It would have changed everything," he says, stepping closer. "I wouldn’t have let you go after that without a fight."
That's it, they bang, she still pines after her ex who proposes but she declines cause after panting after him like a dog for the majority of the book, she finally realises that he left her for ow and she wants only H now. Its all HEA after this
Honestly, the whole thing felt like they were in high school rather than grown fucking adults dealing with life and i throughly suffered through this cringe fest 👍🙉

If you're craving academic pressure meets forbidden attraction between student and tutor, this intellectual chemistry is explosive!
Zoey's emotional state hit me right in the chest because, honestly, who hasn't been there? That specific mortification of having to face your ex-fiancé at a family event while pretending you're totally fine? King captures that particular brand of humiliation so perfectly, the way old wounds can completely blindside you during what should be happy moments. What I loved is that Zoey's desperation to make Liam jealous doesn't feel petty or vindictive. It feels painfully, recognizably human. We've all wanted validation from people who've hurt us, even when we know better.
But here's where King gets really smart with the fake dating trope. Instead of just throwing two attractive people together and hoping for sparks, she builds this genuine connection through shared damage. Brent isn't just some perfect hockey golden boy, he's carrying real guilt about standing Zoey up at prom, dealing with impossible family expectations, and trying to be everything to everyone. These aren't just convenient backstory details; they're living, breathing wounds that create this authentic recognition between two people who understand each other's specific kind of hurt.
What absolutely destroyed me was watching Zoey slowly realize that Brent's "fake" affection feels more real than anything she ever had with Liam. King does this brilliant thing where their pretend relationship becomes this mirror that shows Zoey what genuine love actually looks like, protective instead of possessive, encouraging rather than tearing down. That moment when you realize you've been accepting crumbs when you deserved the whole feast? Devastating in the best way.
The Christmas Eve wedding setting is genius because it creates this intense pressure cooker where all the family dynamics and unresolved emotions come bubbling up. King really understands that the best romantic tension comes from characters who push each other to grow, and she integrates the hockey elements naturally without letting them take over the emotional core.
The chemistry between Zoey and Brent builds so beautifully; their physical connection develops right alongside the emotional intimacy, making everything feel earned rather than inevitable. King writes a desire that feels rooted in who these characters actually are, not just what the plot needs them to feel.
While the framework follows familiar romance beats, King's character work and emotional honesty had me completely invested. This isn't just escapist fluff, it's a really thoughtful look at how we learn to value ourselves through authentic connection. Sometimes you need to see yourself reflected in someone else's eyes to realize you're actually worth loving properly.
This is not a romance. This is a story of a girl (Zoey, FMC) who hasn’t healed from being left 3 weeks before her wedding to a POS and a guy (Brent, MMC) that’s been in love with her since high school that’s just accepting whatever crumbs of affection she tosses to him. I almost DNF’d at 70% but finished just to write how much I disliked this book.
There’s nothing likable about Zoey. She holds a candle for Liam, the POS that cheated on her, for a year. She hasn’t healed and then goes to her sister’s wedding with the intention of making him jealous enough to leave the girl Liam is now engaged to, which is also the girl he dumped Zoey for. Zoey’s actions and mentality are not those of a person with a fully developed frontal lobe. Liam dumped her before prom when they were in high school and he dumped her three weeks before their wedding nearly a decade later. Rather than having some respect for herself and taking the time to get over him, she decides she’s going to use her sister’s wedding to get him back. She ends up leaving several of the wedding events (welcome cocktail hour, the rehearsal dinner, even the wedding) because she’s so focused on her own sh*t. Her sister is better than me, because I would be seriously pissed if my sister couldn’t pull her act together for me on what’s supposed to be the happiest day of my life.
Brent, for his part, was in love with Zoey since the first time he saw her in high school, but due to a misguided sense of loyalty to Liam, he decided to ditch Zoey on prom night, which is what leads to a decade of animosity between him and Zoey. The dude deserves better. Luckily for him, he knows how to give Zoey orgasms, which he does after she leaves one of the wedding events to go cry about Liam. After a night of laying pipe, Zoey suddenly realizes she’s not in love with Liam anymore and is in fact, in love with Brent, which proves the theory that the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.
It’s a good thing this book is less than 300 pages because getting to the end out of spite so I could rate this poorly felt like a stretch.

Perfect Score is a great, heartwarming book! I have read all the Hawkeyes Hockey series and Perfect Score is my favorite so far. Brent, our MMC is on his way to San Diego for a friend's wedding and his grandmother's birthday party. Brent's grandmother threatens to set him up with a friend's daughter, so Brent is on the lookout for a casual, fake date. On the flight, he finds himself sitting by an old friend, Zoey. He and Zoey went to high school together, and he stood her up for their senior prom and they've been estranged since. Zoey is on her way to the same wedding, and is not looking forward to it as her ex-fiance and his new fiancé will be at the wedding. Zoey and Brent decide it's for their mutual benefit to fake date, so despite their animosity, they will attend both events as boyfriend/girlfriend. Shenanigans ensue!
I loved the chemistry between Zoey and Brent, and I loved Brent's sassy and saucy grandmother! The jokes, dialogue and situations were so great-- and just the perfect amount of Christmas without being too Christmasy! Perfect Score has my favorite tropes-- enemies to lovers, second chances, close proximity/one bed, and many more which were so fun to read! The first few chapters Zoey bugged me, but she grew on me. Brent, if you remember him from his sister Tessa's book, lives up to his promise and is the perfect cinnamon roll boyfriend, and I absolutely adored him! We also get some cameos of Tessa and what she and Lake are up to, which I loved!! All in all, Perfect Score is a great book-- I read it twice, once as an ARC and once as soon as it was released.
I received Perfect Score as an ARC, all opinions are my own.
A delightful story with the perfect balance of drama and romance.
Brent has been a delightful character throughout the Hawkeyes Hockey series and he doesn't disappoint in his own story. He is such a cinnamon roll and seeing his POV throughout the book is a joy.
It took a while for me to like Zoey's character. A big part of the book is based on miscommunication, which is a peeve of mine, because why not just ask the necessary questions?! She's also caught up on a douche of a character which I just don't get, but thankfully she sees reason in the end!
As with Kenna's other books, the spice scenes are 🔥🔥🔥.
Note is there is very minimal hockey in this story and also very few cameo's from the other Hawkeyes characters we know and love where the story takes place in some game down time and in Brent's home town.
Themes/Tropes: Sports, Hockey, Tragic Backstory, Emotional Scars, Second Chance, Everyone Can See It, He Falls First, Fake Dating, One Bed, Love Triangle & Multi POV.
4/5 🌶 rating
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
frenemies to lovers. second chance + redemption. fake dating.
traveling back home for a wedding where both parties have ties to the couple; Brent is a groomsman and Zoey is the sister of the sister of the bride. they both are not intending on crossing paths but fate had other plans.
their relationship has been rocky since high school… Zoey was stood up & Brent didn’t want to risk his friendship. Neither won the situation and both were left longing, confused, and frustrated.
fast forward to the present - Zoe needs a fake bf to make her ex jealous and who is the perfect for the job? 🥁 Brent ✨
I loved how this story turned out but there were definitely times of frustration on my end.
1. Like why was so she so set on being with and forgiving Liam even after all the lies and cheating? But couldn’t find it in herself to forgive Brent about something that happened in high school? 2. there was ALOT of miscommunication in the beginning 3. the third act breakup was irritating
And of course there were positives that made me thoroughly enjoy this book.
1. the chemistry and spice? 🥵🔥 2. the character growth 3. the relationships between the characters 4. christmas time w/o being overwhelming
✨ARC Review✨ • • Perfect Score by: Thank you For the eARC • • Rating: 5⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️ • • Tropes: 🧡 Second chances Hockey romance Enemies to lovers Forced proximity One bed Fake dating • • I absolutely ate this book up!!! It’s a very short read less than 300 pages but it’s hit all the spots for me!
Brent is a NHL player and he’s a groomsman in he’s friends wedding from high school. Zoey hates Brent. Ever since he stood her up on prom night to go work on his slap shot she could never forgive him…until she need a fake date to make her ex jealous and he need a fake date to get his gran off his back. But little does Zoey know Brent has been in love with her since high school.
This book was so sweet and I’ve now added the rest of this series to my TBR!
This is now available on KU! ✨ • • Fav Quotes:
“He warned me that he sometimes talks in his sleep, but he never mentioned that he could get me dripping wet without being conscious.”
“Don’t get it twisted, baby. I can f**k you just as good from the bottom as I can from the top.”
A second chance romance that sees Brent and Zoey both on the same plane as she is flying to her sisters wedding. There is no love lost between Brent and Zoey following something he did when he was younger. Brent uses this to make amends for his errors of the past and show Zoey that he has changed and he is the guy for her. Zoey also learns the truth about her ex Fiance's involvement in the events of senior year.
This book was a delightful holiday, second chance romance that I enjoyed very much. Brent was a great character, I love how he treated Zoey. Zoey was such a brilliantly written character, and I loved how she warmed to Brent but wasn't going to give in too easily. Liam was just a douche who just wanted what Brent had. I lived Brent's gran. She was a fun character.
This book was well written and easy to follow, and the characters were brilliantly written.
Thank you for the ARC.

I love this series so stinking much!! Kenna does it again!! I love Brent and Zoey so so much!! Brent is such a sweetheart and I always wanted him to get his story! He has been pining for Zoey for years and truly feels he was the better man for her, but she’s always been with his friend Liam. Zoey is still holding resentment for a miscommunication years ago but when they see each other again, they are both in need of “help” from each other. Zoey needs to make her ex jealous and Brent needs a date to his grandmother’s birthday party. I love the little things they know about each other and it shows they really did care for each other even it if was years ago. Brent and his little snacks for her - the notes and sweet things he would remind her of. I was so glad these two gave each other a chance and didn’t let the past hold them back or second guess their feelings for each other. They truly were meant to be and that epilogue was absolutely precious and I miss them already!!
This was a good book though I wish the FMC was a bit more stronger and saw her worth earlier and I also really felt that given they had not seen each other for so many years and fake dated for barely a bit, it was too soon for them to be together and figure they were the One, it just felt unrealistic and I felt that the story should have gone beyond the wedding and there should have been more story or built up to it there. I really liked the FMC's sister for seeing through the bs and I really hated Liam.
P.S. Was it just me or did everyone feel like the MMC should have chosen the FMC when Liam all those years back? I know that if it were the case, we won't have the story but I felt like when the MMC saw what Liam was doing and when threatened (and though I understand he lost close ones so he was scared or losing more), between losing the FMC and the friend who was betraying him, I think he could have chosen the FMC though I did understand his reasoning for the hesitancy on this.
I’m a sucker for a second chance romance especially a holiday season one and this one definitely did it for me!
Brent the man that he is, goodness gracious I was begging for Zoey to give in lol because ain’t no way you could forgive sir douche and not Mr. Brent the hockey god!
Gran was one of my favorite characters and I honestly loved her spunky self even at 90 she was a force to be reckoned with lol!
Brent went through a lot in his life and to see the vulnerable side of him, the side not many man are willing to show, it tugged at my heart strings. He deserved his happiness and it made me mad that someone took it from him but so happy he made sure this time around not to let it go. Honestly after everything Zoey put him through I was so happy to see she was the one running to him and showing him she was choosing Brent!
So after 14 years I’m so happy Zoey finally forgives Brent for what he did and they get their happily ever after, finally sheesh I about went through this book and shook her 😂
The epilogues were everything and then some I love seeing the characters get everything they deserve and not waiting for another book to find out!
