Return to Grimwood in the wildly funny fifth book in Nadia Shireen's bestselling and brilliantly anarchic illustrated comedy-adventure series.Perfect for readers age 7 to 107, fans of Dog Man, Roald Dahl, Bunny vs Monkey and David Walliams, and anyone who loves to laugh.
Grimwood needs a new mayor! Titus has finally decided he’s had enough, leaving behind big antlers to fill. With characters new and old throwing their hats into the ring, who has what it takes, who has a hidden agenda, and who is simply in it for the parties? The only people who can decide the fate of Grimwood are . . . the residents of Grimwood. Oh no.
Fully illustrated throughout and full of heart, laughs and surprises, this is the must-read fifth title in the bestselling and fantastically funny Grimwood series.
Nadia was always destined for a career in illustration—as a child, she would doodle on her exercise books, while as a student she would doodle on her law degree notes. Then, when working as a journalist in London for pop music bible Smash Hits, she would doodle all the time on anything. The good people at Smash Hits didn’t fire her for doodling furry animals - instead they let her leave early to go to evening classes in illustration.
This was followed by a MA at the prestigious Anglia Ruskin University. Drawing and writing for a living is very much Nadia’s dream come true and we expect great things from this promising new author and illustrator.
Don’t worry Titus is fine! He just decides to step down as mayor so he can get a break and a chance to open a bakery. A vicious campaign to replace him takes place. Ingrid the duck is a very strong candidate until something scurrilous starts to happen. I love Grimwood. I cannot recommend these books enough for bedtime stories. There is such a wealth of different characters and silly voices you can do, and a laugh on every page. They are an absolute joy!
Thank you to the publisher for a review copy of this book.
Been listening to the first four Grimwood books on repeat with the kids for some months but had a false start with rock the vote because the villain was so mean and they didn’t want to hear it. We are peril averse except when we’re not (wdym you’ve done the whole of the LOTR radio adaptation three times but Steve Nasty is a bit much?! Kids eh). Anyway this week we managed to listen to the whole thing and hysterical laughter abounded, especially at the end.
Silly and sweet, I switched between the physical book and the audiobook and both were great fun. The illustrations in the book are hilarious and Adam Buxton’ narration is absolutely brilliant - I was very impressed with variety of parps.
3.5? Pamela the MVP, as always Yes she's a murderous, politician-eating-alien conspiracy theorist who has CCTV everywhere and puts trackers in animals but. The pros outweigh the cons here.
