this was cute! however, the cast was a bit too big to keep track of everyone and some characters felt underutilized. the writing style was enjoyable, too.

Read if you like:
💕 small town scenery
💕 cast of quirky characters
💕 sweet treats
💕 event festivals
💕 single POV
💕 single timeline

I originally selected this book because I absolutely loved the adorable cover, but as soon as I read the description I literally became obsessed with this one! It was everything I wanted in a book!! A Valentine’s day BOOK festival, author speed-dating, all the treats and scenery… it was exactly what I needed for a book to read this Valentine’s week 💕💕
As with most cozy mysteries, there was a GIANT cast of quirky and zany characters. I did get a little confused trying to keep track of who was who though, because there were so many characters.
I absolutely love books about books! And the fact that this one includes a BOOK FESTIVAL?? I absolutely loved that!
I know these are supposed to be “beloved authors” but I honestly did not like any of the characters, and thus was not sad to see any of them go 💀 🤪
I enjoyed the included texts between characters because it almost added another few POVs to the story.
I definitely saw the ending coming 🤪🤪 but still a very enjoyable murder mystery!
I really really love when authors include recipes in their book! It just shows that the author went to so much extra effort writing their story 💕💕 I absolutely love that!

i loved the idea of this book, but unfortunately i did find it really slow and hard for me to really get into, i had to push myself a bit to finish it. the writing style wasn’t my favorite and there were a lotttt of characters to keep track of. i did enjoy the setting of it and like i said, the idea of it seemed cool, since it’s a murder mystery book that takes place at a book festival with authors. 🥹 i’m sad that this wasn’t for me, but i’m sure other people will find it interesting and a fun read 💕

thank you to NetGalley for this ARC 💗

What I loved:
-This is exactly what I was hoping for: a cute valentine's murder mystery. It's a cute short story/book, so I will definitely recommend this to those looking for a quicker, fun read.
-Quick murder mystery, Scooby Doo style, super fun whodunit.
-Perfect spooky fun read with Valentine's vibes thrown in.

What I didn't love:
-There are a lot of characters which is difficult to keep track of.
-The transitions from scene to scene/environment to environment can be slightly confusing as the book goes back and forth without a substantial visual formatted transition.
-The writing style is not my favorite. It's not passive tense but it's not a casual tense, and this book is rather causal.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC book and leave an honest review! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"Deadlines and Valentines (Jules Keene Glamping Mystery #4)" by Heather Weidner is set around Valentine's Day during a romance book convention that Jules's town and camping resort is hosting. There are several romance authors staying in Jules' various tiny houses and trailers. Some of them are quite nice, while others bring the drama.

Where there's drama there's going to be problems. One of the authors is found dead and several more get attacked. It's just one chaotic thing after another. It was a bit difficult to pin down any one suspect. However, in the end it did make sense. Looking back I can see how that person could be a stronger suspect.

It was a very cute story, I say more 3 1/2 stars for me . This was an ARC read for me. I wish I knew if there are other books prior as there are so many characters to keep track of it was a bit overwhelming. I did enjoy the murder mystery and the story being about Authors. Does give you a little in-site as to how that works can be

I was debating keeping this book downloaded until Valentine's Day but the cover looked too good to pass up. I previously downloaded this book via NetGalley as an ARC. I was admittedly nervous reading this as I had read a lot of stereotypical murder mystery thriller type books which isn't really my go to genre. However, this book was very well written. I did find it hard to keep track of which character was who to begin with but it all became clear. The story kept me wanting to read on more and find the 'who dunnit'. I know this book is part of a series which others recommend to read first but this book is also a standalone, so I read it as one. Whilst I find murder mystery books a very predictable premise, this book was written in a clever, different way I've not seen before, which is amazing! The character of Jules was cunning in parts and the typical FMC heroine, however was an all round team player wanting to get to the bottom of things. Well done Heather in making a predictable genre your own little success. I rate it 4 stars and would recommend this to others.

This was a fun little murder mystery (and only around 200 pages, at least the ARC I read was only about 200 pages)! I finished it in an afternoon.

The writing style was fun and super easy to read, but I did find the dialogue to be a bit weird. It was another one of those situations where I found it to be a bit stilted and choppy.

There were also a lot of characters and for such a short book that was confusing. I had trouble keeping track of who was who a couple of times. But I don't know if that's a me problem or a problem that lots of other readers may experience.

A very cartoonish murder mystery (Valentines-themed, of course) that involves a little dating festival, a trip to a resort and a very popular author found dead!

If you're looking for a fun and festive lil romp, I would recommend this. But I still found myself wanting a bit more from it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

So I definitely jumped at this arc because I met the author at a book event in my hometown. I didn’t know much about the series overall except for what she told me at her table and during a panel.

I enjoyed the story, but there was a ton of characters to track, I definitely confused some characters at one point. But it was still very fun & I’m excited to go through and read the others from this series!!

Thank you to the author, publisher, & NetGalley for the early access to read this story!

This was such a cozy thriller! I really enjoyed the small town glamping resort in the mountains of Virginia. It was so easy to imagine in my head since I am familiar with the areas that the book mentions. I had no idea what to expect with a thriller/mystery themed novel based on a valentines book festival. With several quirky, attitude-filled characters, this book did not disappoint.
I picked this book up not realizing that it was the fourth book in the series. I will definitely be adding the first three to my “to be read” list.

Book Title: Deadlines and Valentines
Author: Heather Weidner

What a rollercoaster of book this was.

Welcome to Fern Valley’s Love is in the Air Book Festival. “Hello. I’m Jules Keene, owner of the Fern Valley Luxury Camping Resort.

Yes, so this Book was a tapestry woven with true crime, suspense, thrilling and gut wrenching plots. I Love each and every character both for their beautiful and ugly side. The book also has some hilarious and jealousy filled rivalry between author's and how it turns so nasty that one of them even end up losing their life.

The book title won't give us the hint about the mystery involved but I really loved how it was written beautifully with a back story of Valentines day and the book festival. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it was a fresh read for me except that mystery and crime part.

I love Jules character the most. How she was patient & hospitable to her author guest and dealth with all their unrealistic tantrums and showing interest in their personal well-being.

The thing I found confusing was there were too many pen names given to the author making it difficult to recollect who's is who, but likely kindle made ut easy with the highlighting feature and later in the book they were referred by one singular name throughout their multiple pen names. To name a few here are some quirky author names,

Cinnamon Moon’s, Allegra Rhodes’s, Gigi Johnson. It’s short for Virginia.”, Phoenix Abbott or Tracey Davis & Echo Aames,” and last but not the least Windsor Abernathy.

I really loved the quirky banter of Gigi with echo and phoenix all three of them had air to grind 😁.

Secondly the bitter sweet rant of Windsor and her assistant Tiffany.

The thing I Love this most was Jules endearment towards this book festival and how she stood through the thicks and thins to make it a memorable one for all the authors and the guest attending the festival. I really loved how every event was beautifully and gloriously planned making me feel mentally present at this book festival. And the friendship between Jules and Gwen pixel is unmissable.

All in all this book was a breather for me as it got me out of my reading slump. Although I waded a bit through some page but I devoured each and every page of it. The best part is that it's written in a conversational tone making it a fast paced read.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves books with a blend of mystery in it to give this book a read.

I absolutely love the Jules Keene Glamping Mystery series, and Deadlines and Valentines, the fourth book in the series, did not disappoint! Though you don’t need to read the other books in order to enjoy this mystery, I’d suggest you do. It helps when you have a prior knowledge of the main characters as well as the setting. Each book contains its own mystery which is solved within the book, so you really can jump in anywhere!

In Deadlines and Valentines, Jules and the town have set up a “Love Is in the Air” book festival featuring several romance authors. Fern Valley is a small mountain town that is popular during the summer and fall months, but winter was always a hardship on small business owners. When Jules became the leader in the town council, she suggested several ways to boost the economy, and this was one of them. The festival sounds like so much fun, but as is the case in a cozy mystery, someone had to go and get themselves murdered!

This was such a fun read! If you read, and you obviously do if you’re reading this review, I’ll bet you’ve wanted to go to an event like the “Love Is in the Air” one. This event is even better than what you’d normally find since it takes place over two weeks, and the accommodations are in the cute glamping ground that Jules owns and runs with her aunt. It has vintage themed trailers and themed tiny houses! I’d love it!

The romance authors at this event were a trip! There was a LOT of drama! As I was reading, I kept wanting to ask the author if this is how cozy mystery conferences are! Even though there are probably authors who don’t bond with each other, I’m sure they’re not going to murder each other! Figuring out who murdered the victim in Deadlines and Valentines was exciting! Most of the authors had the opportunity to do it and some had motive. But whodunit? You’ll find out!

I highly recommend Deadlines and Valentines as well as the other Jules Keene books! The romance themed author event was a lot of fun to read about. As always, I loved the main characters and enjoyed getting to know the authors and trying to figure out who the “bad guy” was. The setting is charming, and the food sounds amazing! If you love small town cozy mystery books with great characters and puzzling mysteries, you’ll love Deadlines and Valentines by Heather Weidner!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I want to start off by saying that the cover of this book is stunning! Paired with the description of the book being 'cosy Valentine's Day mystery', I was sold. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit the way I was hoping it would.

Before I get into the reasons why I didn't love it, I want to mention that I can definitely see why some people would love Deadlines and Valentines. I think for me, it just came down to the writing style. It wasn't my favourite. There were parts of the book that I think could have been cut because there were so many random chunks of information that had no relevance to the storyline. I think the storyline had a lot of promise but there was too much filler for me, to the point where I just ended up skimming for the most part. With that said, I hadn't read any of the other books in the series prior to reading this one so it could've very well been my own fault for not having enough of an emotional connection to the main characters to care about a small mundane things they did.

This all simply came down to not connecting to the author's writing style. Those who do enjoy it will most likely not share my opinions which is one of the great aspects of reading.

After several attempts at reading it, I had to DNF the book at 35%. My 2 Star rating is based on the fact that the book wasn't for me but I can still understand why other people would love it.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Level Best Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun who-done-it this book turned out to be. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque and chilly small town, we have the murder of the nice female author. Before I jump to the mystery, I want to pause first and talk about the backdrop of this book. Jules, a small town resort owner, and her fellow town business owners put on a romance weekend in preparation for Valentines. By romance, I don't mean the traditional romantic Valentines, I mean a festival dedicated to romance authors. It also amazes me the description of the festivals or events that take center stage in cozies. This book was no different especially the romance cover model show, ooh la la (LOL.)
Jules relied heavily on her friend Pixel for research. After reading this book, I think Pixel needs her own series if for no other reason than because an IT person for the FBI named Pixel. I love it and would read that book. Jumping back to the mystery, it was a true who-done-it with a lot of suspects especially the divas. I had a few guesses on who the killer was but the author did a nice jump of showing Jules puzzle out the answer. This was a fun book and while I think an early January release might make more sense since we are in other holiday mode now. Overall, I would recommend it.

⭐⭐✨

What I Liked
1) The setting was built perfectly and I found all the different events so interesting. I would love to go to an author speed dating event in real life it sounded so fun!

2) I loved the building of some characters, others I felt were a bit flat and not fully fleshed out. Phoenix was definitely meant to represent a lot of real authors that are being the absolute messiest on social media and I loved the author's representation of that

3) This book felt like a cozy mystery for book lovers and chronically online book lovers

What I Disliked
1) There was some cringey moments (I do expect this going into a cozy mystery though). I hate when cozy mysteries have women that are obsessed with men and the male model fashion show was just not for me.

2) I never really notice when a phrase is repeated but the amount of times a character says something 'with a wink' is excessive and I think it needs to be edited down

3) The mystery and its resolution did not feel very strong to me and the payoff at the end was lackluster

Overall, the vibes of this cozy mystery were perfect and I would recommend it if the romance book festival sounds interesting to you. However, you should know I don't think the mystery is that good.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Heather Weidner for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Deadlines and Valentines coming out October 15, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Fern Valley, nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is ground zero for all things romance. The town has pulled out all the stops for the first Valentine’s Day “Love is in the Air” Book Festival with events like Death by Chocolate, author speed-dating, a character masquerade, and a male cover model fashion show.

When a popular author with a heart of gold is found murdered in the barn at the resort, Jules has to find the culprit before more than just hearts are broken.

This is actually the first book I’ve read by this author. I need to read the other books. I haven’t read a Valentine based cozy mystery yet, so I loved that aspect of the book. I loved the book festival and glamping setting. Jules is a really strong and smart character. The mystery was really good. I loved the Scooby Doo vibes. I would definitely check out more books by this author!

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys holiday cozy mysteries!

💜ARC REVIEW💜

Tropes:
Cozy Mystery
Nancy Drew Vibes
Valentine’s Day themed

Favorite Character:
Jules Keene

Quick Summary:
As a way to bring more tourist to their community, Jules Keene and her companions host a weeklong festival for popular Authors and their fans. What should have been a simple week of events catered to bring authors together with their fans takes a deadly turn. With one Author turning up dead, others getting injured and belongings going missing, Jules Keene definitely got more than what she bargained for.

Overall Review:
If you are a fan of Nancy Drew and want to find some books that are very similar, this one is for you. I loved the cozy aspect of this book and the twists that kept you wondering. The only thing I wish was that I could have started from the beginning of the series just so I could get a better understanding of the individuals of the story and the environment. I loved how the next book was hinted in the end and will definitely be on the look out for when it comes out!

Fern Valley is hosting its first book festival and it’s showing off and pulling out all the stops for the authors and fans. It has all these different events with some pretentious authors (if you know, you know.)

Jules Keene and her coworkers work at the glamping resort trying to make sure everyone’s doing ok and tempers are tampered down. Everything changes when a body of a well known author is found on the property. Jules has to find the culprit before more people get hurt.

This book was cute but it was a little overwhelming with how many characters you had to keep track of. While it was still a fun who-done-it book, I had a hard time finishing this one. The style of writing is not my usual type of writing I read.

I did enjoy some parts, and appreciated that it was a cozy and simple murder mystery. The characters all had different personalities which is hard to since there was so many in this book.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions I expressed are my own.

my rating: 2.9/5
thanks to netgalley and the author and the publisher for giving me a chance to read and review this ARC.

opinion:
this book is for the cozy mystery fans. i find the mystery gets more interesting towards the second half of the book and personally, i enjoy reading on how it unravels till the end. though after around 30 pages in, i stillthink that the dialogues are sounding a little unnatural and lengthy at certain parts, especially at the start of the book.

the romance between jules (fmc) and jake (mmc) is cozy and slightly faint at the start but as the book progresses, their romance finally has some depth to it and their chemistry has also definitely increased with the help of time. there are a lot of characters mentioned in the book and each of them has a strong characteristic so it gets confusing most of the time in the early stage of the book, personally.

overall, a fun and quick read of a cosy mystery vibes of a book! thank you for writing this book.

I’m just loving the art because of all the pink and I’m assuming it’s Bijou on the cover and she deserves her spot 🐾💓but the idea of fans and authors getting together and having different events was the biggest attraction for me 🥰

Jules owns “ Fern Valley Luxury Camping Resort” and together with her aunt and her furry friend Bijou they run the resort and host events as well , it’s a beautiful setting and the concept is great with trailers and tiny homes that are book themed its definitely a place I’d book into with a happy heart 😉

During the event we have a mystery and a few other strange events and there are a few divas that would make you think they’re the guilty party and when do find out who it is it’s a shock but also not really if you know what I mean 😉

All the characters played their parts and I’d like to have Hake build me one of his tree houses so it can be my reading cave !

I really did enjoy every moment and this one s a read I’d recommend to any book lover if not just for the setting 🥰

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy ❣️📕

Deadlines and Valentines by Heather Weidner brings the perfect mix of Valentine’s Day charm and cozy mystery vibes. Set in the picturesque Fern Valley glamping resort, Jules Keene finds herself caught up in a murder mystery during the town’s "Love in the Air" book festival. The characters are warm and relatable, and I enjoyed the dynamic between Jules and her friends, who are always ready to get to the bottom of things. The way Heather balances romance, mystery, and small-town charm feels effortless, and there’s just enough humor to keep things lighthearted despite the whodunit vibes. Though the mystery itself wasn’t too surprising, the way everything comes together still makes for a satisfying read.

If you're into cozy mysteries with quirky characters and a festive setting, Deadlines and Valentines has you covered. The mix of romance and suspense keeps the story fun and engaging, making it an easy, enjoyable read for anyone looking for a light mystery.

Although I love a cosy mystery, this book failed to hit the mark. The setting was promising - a glamping retreat with a Valentines literary book festival, however there were too many characters and random events going on. The main characters were quite superficial and (the majority) unlikeable and I struggled to be enthused by the storyline. Also - where was the romance?? My overall feeling is that this book lacked depth in all areas and would have been far more gripping if we had more detail and back story for the characters. If you are looking for a quick read that requires little effort to finish, then you will probably enjoy this, but don't expect too much. If you make it to the end however, there are some delicious recipes waiting for you!!

This is book 4 in a cozy mystery series set at a glampground. I have not read the previous books in the series and I was able to follow along just fine. This book follows MC, Jules Keene, and her staff at a glamping business/campground. A book festival event for romance authors and fans will be taking place at the glampground over Valentine’s. There are many fun activities scheduled for the event, including a book signing, author speed dating and more. It is sure to bring a lot of business and fun to the small town.

Drama starts to unfold as soon as the authors start arriving for check-in. Did the staff bite off more than they can chew? When accidents begin to happen, it is up to Jules to speed along the investigation so that they can pull off the event!

I enjoyed this fun mystery with a bookish themed event. I will definitely be going back to catch up on the series!

A romance festival who dun it? Love it!! I was totally expecting spice, but what I got was a fun and twisting murder mystery adventure!

When Jules Keene hosts a romance novel festival at her town she knows there will be some snags, with diva romance authors, crazed fans, personal assistants who are past the breaking point, what would make it even better? MURDER

I honestly had the murderer guessed after a while (although I did think for a second it was Jules lol) you don't know until the end! Did you guess right?

A few grammatical errors, but the recipe book in the back totally makes up for it!!

I read this as a standalone but it is the 4th book in the series, I was confused for a few chapters on whose who, but it gets easier. Overall a cute book.

Deadlines and Valentines is a delightful cozy-romance mystery that takes readers to a charming glamping resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where a book festival provides the perfect setting for romance and suspense. This was such a fun read! As someone from the BRM's I tore through it in one sitting, drawn in by the idyllic setting, quirky characters, and the buzz of a book event atmosphere.

While the story was engaging, it leaned a bit on the dialogue-heavy side, which sometimes made it a little tricky to keep track of all the characters at first. However, once the story picked up, I was fully invested in the quirky interactions and the unfolding mystery. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy—I enjoyed the lighthearted vibe and setting of this fun read!

My favorite entrepreneur/sleuth is at it again! It’s a cold February in the Blue Ridge Mountains, & Jules Keen has captured the essence of Valentine’s Day with her custom themed glampers & tiny houses.

The Valentine’s Day festival is featuring numerous best selling authors. But there’s always a storm brewing somewhere, with that one person who likes to makes waves, & inevitably someone ends up being hurt.

This fun Valentine’s Day mystery, reminded me of when my husband took me to a haunted house that had been made just for that special holiday weekend! It was a great hit! Just like this winner from Heather Weidner!

I received an ARC copy of this for an honest review. Her books get better & better! Thanks so much for the opportunity, Heather!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Heather Weidner and Level best books for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a really cute and cosy murder mystery set in a hotel/glamping site in the midst of a Valentine’s Day Book Festival. Featuring a vibrant and eccentric cast this was a fun and light little read that made a good palette cleanser after reading a heavier book before it.

In my opinion, it has some issues with pacing and some clunky dialogue, but I can overlook that and say it was pretty enjoyable. This is perfect for anyone wanting to pick up a little cosy and festive mystery, definitely will be one I recommend in the darker winter months!

If you like cozy mysteries, glamping, small towns in the mountains, book festivals, and Valentine’s day check this book out. This is the fourth book in the Jules Keene Glamping Mysteries. I enjoyed this book and since it was a murder mystery it was also perfect for the fall too.

All romance books are roses, chocolate, and steamy love scene but are they??

The number of characters in the book made it very difficult to keep up with and the fact all of the Authors had two names. This book definitely packed the drama and chaos. I will admit my guess for the actual suspect was hard to pinpoint. Author turned killer?? Publisher turned killer? Who done it?

Jules Keene had her hands full organizing an event for writers, publishers, and fans themed 'Love is in the air.' They were supposed to have a wonderful glamping experience in the cozy village of Fern Valley, offering a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As the guests arrive, drama unfolds and unfortunately, crime is in the air.
I enjoyed this clever and charming murder mystery. Having writers as characters was a great idea, they are intriguing and quirky. You can also expect suspense and humor. The setting is charming, with the glamping resort adding a unique twist to the typical cozy mystery backdrop.
Cozy murder mysteries are my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Thank you, Netgalley, for this arc. Since it's a series, I can't wait to see what adventures Jules finds herself in next!

I absolutely loved this book! It was a Nancy Drew meets book festival mystery. The book was a short, fun, easy read. I loved the characters and the Valentines theme of the book. This was the first book in the series that I have read, but I felt it was easy to understand who the characters were and I did not feel like I was missing anything.

The only critique I have is the dialogue was a little choppy; sometimes I did not realize where the dialogue began because it seemed like some punctuation was missing. It was not a big deal for me and I still liked the book!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC!
