London is burning. The Luftwaffe is coming. And Trip Gibson is in the fight of his life.
From the award-winning author of the bestselling Journeyman Chronicles of the American Revolution and Sunward I’ve Climbed comes Frank A. Mason’s unforgettable sequel—a visceral, emotionally charged novel set in the fury of the Battle of Britain.
It’s 1940. American pilot Trip Gibson has joined the Royal Air Force, determined to stop Hitler’s war machine from leveling Britain. But flying for King and Country turns out to be far more brutal than he imagined. In the chaos of dogfights over London and the smoking ruins below, Trip must confront the terror of constant combat and the brutal truth that skill alone won’t keep him alive.
Every mission leaves scars. Every downed friend chips away at his soul. And when the bombs start falling too close to the people he’s come to care about, Trip realizes this war isn’t just about nations - it’s personal.
Can he stay sharp enough to survive? Or will the shouting wind of battle silence him for good?
A powerful World War II aviation epic perfect for fans of Flyboys, Band of Brothers, and Master of the Air.

Frank Mason is a master author of historical fiction. His characters are true to life and his plot holds together. He leaves you hanging from one chapter to the next. I cannot wait for his next installment of this series. My only complaint is that he spends too much time in detail of the plane’s take off and landing procedure. If one is a pilot you will enjoy the detail, but as one who has not flown an aircraft, if was a bit of a bore.
I read this book in one sitting. I was affected by the losses trip experienced. I was honored to fly in the Air Force, and have been very impressed by the accuracy of the narrative in this book. I am looking forward to more books about trip And His experiences at World War II.
Again, this second book was OK. I can recommend this book if squadron camaraderie, WW2 aircraft and tactics are of interest to the reader. But the reader will have to speed read through the boring sections where every female seemingly wants to bed the key character. A love interest usually forms part of most novels, but seriously….
The story involves an American who distinguished himself as an outstanding flyer who becomes an ace and a leader. He flew in theRAF and earned the DFC . He fell in love with a beautiful young woman that was tragically killed as a result of a Nazi bombing. A very emotional and well written story I am sure you will enjoy.
I liked this book, had lots of detail about the time and the aircraft. The salacious bits broke the somewhat story even as it became repetitive and predictable. I read mostly on an exercise bike and the time flies by! Not great literature, but an engaging read.
This series is excellent! I am an avid reader of WW2 history whether fiction or nonfiction. I enjoyed these 2 books and look forward to the 3rd. It gives a realistic view of actual combat and the emotions the characters display.
A strong story about a country under attack, lives lived and lost while trying to defend homes and cities, daily air sorties with little time to pretend a normal exestence for the sake of sanity.
This story about one of the earliest American volunteers for the RAF is evolving nicely as it moves through the early difficult days of the London Blitz. Trip continues to be lucky in battle but not so in his multiple love affairs.
These first two books are a great read for those who don't know much about the RAF and its signicance to the allied victory in WWII. The appendix' at the end of each book is worth reading before diving into story.
The Shouting Wind is a very intriguing and action packed story of the WW II Air War in England and a pilot’s loves and losses. Very entertaining and enjoyable reading.
Totally engaging tale of aerial combat, love and cuisine told with historical accuracy and flair. Could not put it down and left me looking forward to the next volume in the series.
Keeps your attention throughout. Fast paced with plenty of emotions. Hard to put d.I strongly recommend. Catches all your attention right from the beginning.
Some brilliant writing about pilots and airplanes. I believe the author wrote too much about the main character’s sexual encounters. His knowledge of aviation is enough to make this book a great read.
