Amazing resolution to the trilogy

I loved Felgrim and Prowler and eagerly awaited the third book. After the events of Prowler, I had no idea how the author would wrap up all the exciting threads. I am pleased to say she did! And with as much action and excitement as the first two books.

My only complaint is that I wish this book had been longer. The plot is amazing, the writing is smooth, gripping and accomplished, as I expected from the author, but the focus was a little unbalanced for my taste. This book is very fast paced, and there’s no time to linger, but unlike the first two books which focused on the faith, political intrigues, and magic, this book put relationships front and centre. I love the characters and the relationships are handled expertly, but I would have loved if as much time was devoted to those other aspects as well.

However, that’s not to say there’s anything lacking in regards to the other aspects I mentioned. War, demons, betrayal, and belief are all within this book. The stakes are raised even higher than the previous installments. The resolution is brilliant and unexpected.

When you find a trilogy where you love the setting, characters, and plot, it’s natural to want to spend longer in that world absorbing all the details. I look forward to re-reading The Dark Watch trilogy many times in the future.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me the final instalment in the Darkwatch Trilogy.

I have absolutely adored this series. It’s dark and spooky at times. The world is infested with different demons and it’s up to our main cast of characters to save everyone.

This picks up with the characters all still mostly separated, each doing their own thing. I love the switching of POVs because I genuinely just love all the characters and it’s nice to see things from different perspectives.

The brilliance here is where they reunite. It’s one of my favourite types of moments in any story with a big cast, but this reunion is full of drama and tension and yet also love and hope run beneath it all. And then they set off on an absolutely insane plan that’s their only hope.

I loved these characters so much. I especially love Davon as the resident moody sad boy, but all of the characters felt so really and fleshed out, and while Bissy may have been annoying at the very start, she ends the series being one hell of a badass. Eaton gets some well earned development, Marla is EVERYTHING, and I absolutely adore Polita. These characters’ all display different versions of strength and courage and very really messy humanness.

I think the single greatest moment of this series though is the part where the series name “Darkwatch” suddenly makes sense. And the whole structure of the entire series becomes so clear. I literally screamed it was SO satisfying.

I’m honestly sad this series is over, but I bet it is so satisfying as a reread!
