Can a kidnapped fairy and a human find love despite all odds?
Nathan Alexander’s batty aunt has done it again. This time she’s sent him a rare plant he doesn’t want. Imagine his surprise when he finds a kidnapped fairy hidden within its leaves. As a man who heads a non-profit organization for abused women and children, Nathan makes it his mission to help her find her way home.
All her life Katenia was warned about the evilness of humans. Never was that proved more true than when she was kidnapped from her quiet valley home. Thrust into the human world, Katenia must fight her very instincts to trust Nathan if she ever hopes to return to her rightful place…and to her normal thumb-sized fairy form.
But with their lives in danger, finding home…and love…will be a journey worthy of a fairy tale.
There are books that you simply can’t put down, the ones where you are glued to the page, desperate to find out what happens next. Unfortunately, Ever Mine was not one of those. It was a quick read, to be sure, but honestly? Not a keeper. Its few redeeming features do not make up for all the moments of “wait, what?” that kept running through my mind.
Maybe someone out there can help me make sense of this whole thing.
So first, we have Nathan Alexander. Nathan is wealthy, the CEO of a non-profit organization, and recently single after breaking it off with his fiancee (who, by the way, is looney. Just, straight up cuckoo for cocoa puffs.) When Nathan’s aunt sends him (yet another) exotic plant, he plans on simply ignoring it, but when the flower unfurls, his attention is drawn to the tiny fairy lying inside. The little fairy, Katenia, has no idea where she is, but the giant in front of her is willing to help her find her way home. That’s all she needs for now.
Until she gets outside Nathan’s office building, is startled by a car horn, and magically turns human-sized, without her wings (but still with her magical abilities.) Nathan brings Katenia to his aunt to try and get her fairy form back, and offers her a place to stay while his aunt looks into the situation.
Oh, and to have sex.
It’s a fairly forgettable premise, when it comes to fantasy novels. It’s more urban fantasy than otherwise, but without a lot of the plot points that usually comes along (strong connection to the urban location, war between the sidhe realms or equivalent, environmentalism factors, etc). Unfortunately, it also lacks the interest. I honestly didn’t care if they got together. Their happily ever after did absolutely nothing for me.
A super sweet and lovely romance, Ever Mine was a fantastic novella. I really liked this short read. It was a true delight of a book.
Katenia was a lovely heroine. Her reactions to the human world were entertaining and she was strong enough to defy anyone to to get what she wanted or protect who she loved. Nathan was sweet and determined to protect the woman he was coming to love. I thought they were both wonderful characters.
The romance was lovely. Katenia and Nathan were perfect together. They were such a sweet couple. And, there was some serious heat with these two. Tons of steaminess going on there. They were a perfect couple.
The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. There were a couple of surprises, with who was actually responsible for Katenia's kidnapping. There was a surprising amount of story that fit into a short novella, which I really liked. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was perfect.
Ever Mine was a wonderful romance novella. I really enjoyed reading this lovely book. Romance lovers, if you want a quick and lovely read, then this is your book.

I received an advanced copy of this story from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The expected publication date is June 2, 2014.
This was a really quick and easy read that takes you away from the everyday normal for just a short period of time. While I admit that I found the whole concept a little on the strange side it still managed to distract me for a moment in time.
This reads like a paranormal/adult romance cross over read. While it delves in to the Fairy world and magic and witches it also has the adult aspect to the story. By this I mean there is adult content, graphic adult content. This is where it was a little weird for me. While I have read both genres many times I have not read the two mixed together. I found the result was a bit of an awkward read as the two did not necessarily mix well. I also found the transitioning of the story a little awkward and I had to reread portions to understand what had just occurred.
That aside, the book does entertain and offer a little something outside of the usual norm. This could appeal to many who are looking for something a little different. Add to that the short length of the story and it does not require a big commitment.
I was a bit upset when I finished this novella. The description led me in a very different direction then the actual tale that took place. I really liked the premise of this book, but the execution was a bit unexpected, and disappointing, and at the end I was, the word would be revolted. "A sudden, strong change or reaction in feeling, especially a feeling of violent disgust or loathing."
First, I have to say I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review..
I am so glad I have chosen to finally put a chunk in my review list.. i have so many books to read...
This was a very good book. It was a fast read, and a little steamy i have to add. I really didn't expect it.
Nathan is a wealthy man. he owns a non profit company for abused people. He takes a lot of pride of his work because he came from a abused home. He is going thru a lot recently. he called off his engagement to his psycho girlfriend. today was suppose to be their wedding day and he decided to go out to dinner with his ex. What a smart plan right?! Well, right before he was suppose to leave his secretary tells him that he has a give from his crazy aunt.
This gift was another plant. They were all dying because he didn't take care of them. Well, this one he touched and the flowers started to bloom. He couldn't take his eyes off of it. well, that is when his problem showed up. His aunt has given him a fairy. so it was official. he went crazy! Nathan could not believe what he was seeing.
Katenia is a fairy trying to go back home. She has no idea how she got there, but knows she will be in trouble. She is not allowed to be around humans. Well, she now has a bigger problem. She grew. Something scared her and now she is a human. She now has to put her trust into Nathan to help her go back home. the only problem is that she likes him. She cannot bond with him or she will be with him forever and be in even more trouble.
Nathan loves Katenia their is something about her that he can't stop feeling this way. His Aunt and uncle is acting weird and katenia doesn't feel safe around their house. Nathan has to solve this mystery. Katenia warned Nathan that his ex is a witch. Nathan found this funny because her not knowing things about humans he thought she was making fun of her. Until Nathan finds out the truth.
Katenia ends up sleeping with Nathan and she loves it. Now she has to face her father who wants her to be a baby factory for their blood line. Nathan is bound that nothing is going to happen to her and that she will be with him forever. the only problem is can he go against a couple witches and an angry mob of fairies? what happens when the plan backfires? who will help him now...
There’s something to be said for a good novella. With so many series out there, or Long Epic Reads that, no matter how engaging, seem to go on forever without any set resolution, it’s nice to have a book you can sit down with and polish off on a rainy afternoon. It’s like the literary equivalent of a bag of chips, if you will.
EVER MINE, however, didn’t feel so much like a novella, though. It felt more like a story that could have been, maybe should have been, longer. The last novella I read – Anchored by AJ Larrieu, had that bag of chips feel. It was just enough – the world building was solid and the story unfolded well within that universe and time frame. EVER MINE felt way too rushed. I don’t want to say it was a bad story at all, because it wasn’t, but I was left wishing there was more to it. I wanted to know more about Nathan’s family – even his crazy aunt. I wanted to know more about Katenia’s world, and more about magic in ours and how Nathan got twisted up with a witch. And I really wanted more time with Nathan and Katen together because…wow. They had some serious steam that lead to lovely hot sex.
Yes, that steam was very much insta-lust, but when I’m in novella land, I tend to not mind so much because without it, we’d be at the end of the story before anyone got past first base. I had a few issues with Katenia not understanding human idioms but then describing something as “way cool” but that’s the Picky English Major in me.
If you’re looking for a quick, trip into a world of pointy-eared fairies and seriously hot sex? EVER MINE might be just the way to spend an afternoon. It certainly was for me, even if it did leave me wishing the author had spent a little more time and slowed the rushed pace just a little to flesh out the story.

A sweet and romantic book, Ever Mine is perfect for readers who love fantasy and romance together.
Nathan Alexander is a certified workaholic. So he doesn't have time for relationships. When her meddling aunt sent her a flower with a fairy on it, things start to get crazy.
Katenia was warned by his father and other fairies about the evilness of human beings. But when she met Nathan, she can't help the attraction she felt for him.
This book was a pleasent surprise for me. At first I thought that this was going to be YA but it clearly wasn't with all the sex going on throughout the book.
I loved seeing the world through Katenia's eyes since her innocence with most things regarding the human world was child-like and really endearing.
Nathan was such a sweet guy and I loved how she was protective of Katenia and the way he that under his tough exterior he was still sweet.
The plot wasn't amazing but it was good and was really a great read.
Received digital edition from publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
It was such a fun little novella. It's a little shorter than a novel, and a little longer than a novella, and it's perfect because it's just so cute :) It's kinda like thumbellina, when the fairy gets kidnapped and sent to the human world and thank goodness she is rescued by a nice guy :) And though it's small, I wish it were a little more :)
So Kat is the little fairy, who maybe doesn't have the best life in her world, but it's still her life. And when she gets kidnapped then trapped in a flower and sent to a human, things get crazy. He's a very attractive human, scary and still human. But she finds a way to get him to help her to go home. But then, does she really wanna go home now that she found Nathan and got to know him.
Nathan has his own demons, but he's sweet, and has a temper, and is hawt, and is working extra hard to find a way to get cat home. But he doesn't really wanna let her go. I would love to know more about his family as well, being that it was his family that started this whole mess. Especially his aunt who made me giggle. And a little more about how he fits into Kat's world too.
The storyline is your happily ever after fairytale! I loved it. You have to work for that HEA but maybe just maybe you'll get it. I really liked it and it is so easy to love it as a quick read. I definitely say if you want a sweet, hot, and fun, this one is yours! Such a great ride! WELL DONE! :) 4.5 FAIRY WINGS AND PAWS!
When Nathan's aunt gives him a plant for what would have been his wedding day with his ex-fiance, he didn't expect to find a fairy in it. She didn't expect to wake up in the "land of the giants", or worse, the humans. Convinced he's hallucinating, he carries the little fairy in his pocket and she's trying to find out how she got from her home to Nathan's office. Once outside, she turns human size.
First it's funny as Nathan tries to hide a little fairy and not look like he's talking to himself, but it's sweet how he sees to protect her in the human world and not take advantage of her. There are, of course, altercations, decisions to make and enemies to fight, but it's a fast paced read.
What I loved is that not only is she not shy or a prude, and makes it a point to tell him that fairies are much less inhibited in regards to nudity and sex (oh why can't humans be like this?!). While she may be new to Nathan's world and bewildered as what's going on, she's no innocent, naive idiot, or pushover. She doesn't let people push Nathan around, she protects him as much as he protects her, and there's no alpha male ownership going on. She sees him as hers as much as the other way around.
It's a very nice and cute read with a female lead that's as strong as she is curious.
(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Lyrical Press and NetGalley.) Nathan cares more about his job than his love life, so a pint-sized fairy is nothing more than another problem to deal with, until she becomes human-sized, and kind-of sexy that is.
This was an okay short story about a human and a fairy. Nathan was a typical busy business man, with little time or inclination given to his love life, to the extent that he’d broken up with his fiancé. Katenia was a tiny fairy who became human-sized, and even though she’d been brought up to hate humans she wasn’t adverse to having sex with Nathan.
The storyline was okay, but wasn’t really anything amazing. The relationship between the pair was okay, although it would have been nice if Nathan had offered Katenia his jacket a bit sooner after she became human-sized and totally naked! There was some sex in this, but there seemed to be more foreplay than anything. When they actually got down to having sex it seemed to be over extremely quickly. If I had been Katenia I think I’d have been a bit disappointed! The ending was okay, but again, I didn’t love it. I certainly won’t be reading this again in the future. Overall; okay fantasy/erotica story, 6 out of 10.
Ever Mine is a great escape from reality. Star-crossed lovers indeed, Nathan and Katenia are from two completely different worlds. A quick, fun, and lighthearted read, Ever Mine is a fairy tale you won’t want to miss. Beautiful, kind, vulnerable and determined, Katenia is the perfect match for alpha male and moody human, Nathan. He’s been burned by love before, (and his ex is fierce!) and it takes a special kind of woman to get him to feel again. And who would’ve thought fairy tales could be sexy?!
“But Nathan didn’t just take. What he gave to her was so much more than what he demanded…”
I adored how confused Katenia was by the human world, and seeing it through her eyes, yes, there are some strange goings on around here. The misunderstandings between the characters were adorable and downright enjoyable, and Nathan, even as brutish as he was, was so patient with her as she tried to assimilate. The entire story, I couldn’t see how they could possibly work out with all the odds stacked against them but I wanted their HEA sooo badly. This novella had enough suspense to keep me hooked and I finished it on one sitting. Great quick read with 4.5 fairy smoochin’ stars from me.

Wow! I absolutely love it! Who doesn't love fairies-right? Eden Ashe has dazzled her readers once again with her impressive talent and brilliant imagination. When Nathan's Aunt Mellie sends him another plant as a gift, he thinks she's finally losing her mind. But when a beautiful fairy pops out of the plant, he fears that it may be him that's losing his! Oh my! And when she suddenly turns into a beautiful full size perfect woman, the game is on and all bets are off! What? Fairies aren't real-they simply don't exist! Do they? Sexy alpha male Nathan wants beautiful Katenia and he wants her badly! So let the games begin! The story is exciting, enchanting, captivating, heartwarming, romantic, arousing and sensual. The dialog is smart, sassy and well written. The characters are imaginative, fascinating and sexy. This is an enchanting story that teases your imagination while tickling your fancy! Marvelous entertainment and a great read!
I really hate writting bad reviews but this book bugged me. I'll keep this short:
For a guy that ran a non-profit organization for abused women, Nathan sure is one surly mofo. Hes angry all the damn time that it got tiresome. We have an ex fiancee who he knew his whole life....and NO ONE (especially his aunt) knew that she was a crazy ass witch??!!?? He proceeds to choke Katenias father upon meeting him. (really good way to represent your company here)! The whole kidnapping crazy, magic hungry uncle seemed to be added to the end.
Now for the kicker.......... Nathan kills his uncle and...wait for it.........THEY FREAKING PROCEED TO HAVE SEX RIGHT AFTER!!! RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAMN BODIES!!! WTH!!
I think I'll skip reading the rest of this authors books......

A cute fairy tale (literally!) that deals with what happens when a fairy becomes human sized and is seized by human emotions/feelings for a distracted, flawed human. Both Nathan and Katenia are written strong and compassionate with flaws that make them truly human. There were a few quirky characters that seemed to have been written just to provide a specific point (ex-fiancee and batty uncle) but the story works. Katenia’s naiveté was entertaining and provides a nice counterpoint to the world that Nathan lives in. Cute, quick, funny and hot.
A fairy trapped in the human world and the human who needs her. I found this hard to put down. Enjoyed the story but thought I would be reading more of a continuation of the first book in this series about the dragons. Even still, totally liked and enjoyed this. Would definitely recommend.
Cute story. Would have preferred it were more a novel than a novella. I was just getting into it when it was over. Boohoo. But for a quick (and sexy) read, this works!
When Nathan receives yet another plant from his crazy aunt, he doesn’t expect a thumb-sized fairy to come out of it. Convinced he’s losing his mind, it doesn’t take long before the little fairy gets Nathan to take her home with him. Unfortunately, the unthinkable happens on the way and Katenia goes from a tiny little fairy to a fully grown human in the blink of an eye. Now Nathan has to help Katenia figure out what happened and how to change her back but while their time together is short, that doesn’t stop the flames from igniting between them. But when the time comes for Katenia to return home, will she chose the life she once knew or the man she’s come to love?
Awww, this book was so adorable! Katenia and Nathan together are definitely hot but I loved that they were so different. Nathan is this big burly man who’s aggressive and possessive, not to mention growly! While Katenia is this little slip of a thing who has no idea what is going on. The simplest phrases would confuse her and that confusion was so cute! Nathan was extremely tolerant of Katenia’s adjustment and I loved that he didn’t fault her for not knowing most human euphemisms. At the same time, I liked that Katenia was such a spitfire and was at her strongest when defending Nathan against other people. So cute!
I adored this simple, funny story but its not without its faults. Mostly, I just have a bunch of questions like who kidnapped Katenia? Was it Nathan’s aunt? If so, why did she kidnap Katenia? To what purpose was sending Katenia to Nathan supposed to accomplish? And then, if she did intentionally send Katenia to Nathan then why was she surprised when Katenia turned human-sized? How did Katenia change size? Why didn’t Mellie (the aunt) stop Nathan’s evil ex from going all psycho on Nathan and why didn’t she notice the ex was a witch before? So many questions unanswered and then even more in the fact that Nathan’s personality was sometimes the exact opposite of what he would claim he avoided. He supposedly didn’t yell at women but it seemed like a big chunk of the book was of him doing a lot of yelling at females.
In the end, though, I still liked this one. It was fun to say the least and had a ton of amusing moments. I loved Katenia’s innocence and confusion but I also liked that Nathan couldn’t resist the little fairy. The premise of Katenia trying to acclimate to being human-sized and the two trying to fight their developing love gave the book a light-hearted feel to it. A really good story and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. If you’re looking for something short, fun and light, definitely give this one a try.
The least which we can say it's that Ever Mine is a true fairy tale! An improbable love story with attaching characters, of malicious quite sadistic and dark foes, a story very simple and yet original. Because for once, it's not the human which is found propelled in the universe of the fairies with his 10 cm in height, but the reverse and that is refreshing.
Nathan is a rather dark and dull man in the first pages. We have a little difficulty to make an idea on his personality, then little by little he is revealed and we meets a wounded, protective and sensitive man. What is amusing, it's to see that it's his meeting with Katen that make him more wild and virile. Katen in the other side is very fresh, naive and soft, but it's partly an image. Her daily live in the fairy worls pushed her at the end, hiding steel mental under her smiles and resembles enormously at Nathan in her desire to protect the others.
The other characters aren't described too much, we have a vague idea of their character and importance in the story. On one side, there is the Nathan's sister who gives them a hand and his niece who shows a soft side of Nathan. His aunt and uncle are definitively disturbed and as of the beginning we feels well that something doesn't go well with them. For Rhiannon, his ex, she is the perfect representation in all the definitions of the term of "witch". Katenia's family isn't really described, it's too bad because they have a negative image.
The screen is nevertheless basic: a fairy was kidnapped, the poor guy who is also a victim finally finds himself with being ultra-guard towards her and seeks to bring her back home. But meanwhile the charming fairy became human, they pass by the box room and several dark enemies come to say hello. But the whole story is well carried out by the writer, we aren't bored and we are nevertheless astonished by some things. The erotic scenes are numerous enough for a novel, but on the other side it illustrates well their attraction, the fact that they are destined one for the other.
In spite of certain things rather foreseeable, this reading is pleasant and we have a good time. I find it too bad that the universe of the fairies and sorcery isn't developed some more, there is potential on this side and that would be worth to be deepens. I make a point of talking about the cover who illustrates well Katenia such as I though she'll looks like. It's a novel which I recommend obviously if you have 1 or 2 hours of free time!
“Sometimes, taking care of something else, puts the pieces back together.”—Aunt Mellie
Fairies don’t exist. Nathan is pretty sure about that. Except it’s hard to ignore a feisty fairy when she accidentally becomes human sized. Naked. Yeah…Nathan needs to help a fairy return home while dealing with a jealous ex, a curse that also shouldn’t be real, a creepy relative, and crazy, burning attraction to a certain fairy. Actually, there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun before Katenia returns home; Nathan doesn’t believe in love. But just like all the other things he didn’t believe in before Katenia, love might be the scariest of them all…
“There is one rule. Not to fall in love with each other.”—Nathan
The book was entertaining and a quick read—both fast-paced and short (novella length). With our heroine being a fairy, we have some fun moments with language barriers (as Katenia takes everything literally) and with the fact that fairies don’t mind showing some skin—like all of it—while Nathan is trying to be a gentleman and not look. Add in another fact that fairies don’t have a problem with being shy about sex, and Nathan really has a battle to be a gentleman.
He pretty much loses, and we get a medium-high heat level romance! But then there’s the pesky issue of fairies and humans don’t mix (as in burning hatred on the fairies’ part) and there are some villains willing to break up the two of them—as in let’s make one of them or both six-feet under. Plus, Nathan has to deal with some past baggage, which has pretty much given him a negative view of love. Luckily, Katenia is as fiercely protective as she is hot, and Nathan needs someone like that to protect him from his own cynicism about love.
I thought the book depicting their relationship was entertaining (with some dark moments thanks to past baggage—or hypothetical future in the case of Katenia) although I did raise an eyebrow with their actions after dealing with the villains (and thought…really?? Now??). A little past that scene, the ending was perfect, and I loved it. Overall, this is a 3.5 out of 5 for me!
(Originally posted on my blog; I received a NetGalley copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.)
First things first, is that cover not absolutely stunning? I must admit that I judge books by their covers. Horribly shameful of me, but it is the truth. If the cover intrigues me enough, I'll even read books outside of my normal genre. This was the case with Ever Mine. I'm not normally into urban fantasy romance. My preference is for fantasy romance however, so I thought it wouldn't be too far off.
This is a very short read, almost a novella in size I think. The fact that I felt I really knew the two main characters pretty well in such a short amount of time was pretty fantastic. Also, in that short amount of time, there were at least four intimate scenes. Unfortunately, for me this wasn't a very good thing, but I know for many others out there, you will be quite pleased.
Nathan was a really good guy. He just left his fiance two months before the beginning of this book, and his ended the engagement to be true to his heart. He is quite the gentleman in not wanting to even come close to abusing anyone of the female sex, but unfortunately, he ends up letting those females walk all over him. His biggest flaw in my opinion was his cursing. It drove me a little crazy.
Katenia is a royal type fairy who gets kidnapped and winds up on Nathan's deskas a gift from his crazy aunt. She is a powerful woman who fights for what she loves. However, she does have her own fears and vulnerabilities. Katenia struggles a lot with figures of speech, and I thought it was kind of cute the way she learns of the human world.
Well, there is some action in this story, so it did get pretty exciting from that point. I didn't like how the romance was mostly a physical attraction. Lastly, the witch kind of just gets thrown in the mix weirdly. Some of the bits kind of just seem thrown in at awkward times.
This book was received early from Netgalley/Publisher in return for an honest review.
This novella is a charming and magical romance. Nathan Alexander doesn’t know what to think when he’s aunt sends him a kidnapped fairy in a rare plant and sure wasn’t expecting to find himself on a journey full of danger and possibly love worthy of a fairy tale.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with suspense, danger, magic, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life by describing the events and scenes with vivid details that capture the imagination. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and enchant the readers from the very beginning.
The attraction between Nathan and Katenia is hot enough to make fairies glow and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, while the romance is sweet and charming and gives readers an exciting happily ever after. The reader can’t help but get caught up in Katenia story as she finds herself in a very unfamiliar world with no idea how she got there and who can resist a knight in shining armor who rescues the damsel in distress.
The author has certainly caught my attention with this enchanting quick read that makes the heart feel good and to spice things up adds a couple of surprises that the reader doesn’t see coming. While I haven’t read the first book in the Dragon Lore series, I will be remedying that and looking forward to reading more books by Eden Ashe. (Note: This book may or may not be part of the Dragon Lore series as most sites refer to it as being, but the author’s site does not.) 4 STARS 3 FLAMES
I needed a break from reality, and Ever Mine, with its unique twist on a fairy story was the perfect solution.
Nathan runs a non-profit organization for abused women and children, and he was surprisingly alpha, determined that he will protect those who need it, even though he has zero interest in a relationship with a woman after his last woman. He could be brusque and a bit of an emo-boy, but his genuine character shines through in his interactions with the women and children. And none are more apt to send him reeling than his Aunt, a bit in her dotage, who gives him a rare yet unwanted potted plant for a present.
Imagine Nathan’s surprise when the plant happens to hold a fairy, and that fairy is convinced that all of the horror stories she was told about humans are true. Katenia is the thumb-sized fairy that now finds herself in a new and scary world. She is gentle and caring, but determined and even a bit stubborn, and her reactions to the human beings and their actions around her are positively adorable. Nathan displays his heart in the patience that he shows as he explains the new sights, and the misunderstandings that all are situational are cleverly written and defined.
Yet, despite it all, these two find that there is a connection and a love between them, not just the steam that lights up scenes like a firefly in the dark. With a completely unexpected twist, this fast paced and utterly delightful story will be sure to surprise.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
Ever Mine is a cute urban fantasy romance novella. It's a quick, enjoyable read with a really sweet ending.
Katenia is a fairy whose flower home is given to Nathan by his aunt as a gift. When Katenia turns full size almost immediately, she is desperate to revert to her fairy form and go home. It doesn't take long, though, for Katenia and Nathan to fall head over heels for each other.
Katenia is portrayed in a manner that reminded me of Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She seemed to be aware of the "giants" as her people refer to humans, but I was never sure how much she knew about us. Her level of fear always seemed off-- she was awfully accepting of what would be a nightmarish experience. All Ariel got were legs, and she wanted them. Katenia grows from the size of Nathan's thumb into human size and loses her wings.
It's a love story at the core, so she must fall in love within these 105 pages. Perhaps she was so absorbed by the strength of her attraction toward Nathan that she was blind to other things.
This is a light, feel-good story that would make a good beach or vacation read. Just be sure to bring your imagination and leave your disbelief at the door.
This is one of those books that I really enjoyed right up until the main character kills a couple people and it basically doesn't faze him and... WHAT? So a guy who lived through some pretty non-fun things in his childhood and doesn't want to become like his dad has to kill someone and he's just like "HEY! We're free now! Ignore the body in the corner! LET'S BONE!" and I COMPLETELY couldn't get into that.
Maybe it was the unexpected killing. Because I'm down with it normally. It's true. Normally I'm all "We have a book full of disemboweling and heads flying around all willy-nilly? SIGN ME UP!" But to have said killing show up out of the blue like it did here and I'm thinking "This guy is going to have a lot to work through after that." and instead it was business as usual.
Again, I really liked the book up until that. It was sexy. It was amusing. There was a whole MINE mentality that I dug. I just got thrown out of the story when we hit the killing. I have issues. I know.
On of the reason I read so much children's literature and classic literature is the decided lack of smut. Smut does not permeate ever thought in my head and it's hard for me to realize it must be ever present in a lot of people's minds.
Nathan and Katenia can barely stop having sex. Seriously. It takes all of their will power to do anything but have sex.
I did really like both of those characters. Regardless of the fact that Nathan had a stormy past with an abusive Dad and a walk in closet with everything from work out clothes to a tuxedo, he was more than just those tired clichés. He was protective of the girl he loved and that gets me right in the heart.
And Katenia may have been to voluptuous in her fairy world, but she was also spirited and spunky. I managed to swallow all the so perfect he could barely keep it in his pants clichés.
Then he gutted Rhiannon and his Uncle Thad. Um...murder much? How was that going to be swept away? And then as those bodies lay gutted they decided to have sex AGAIN? Really? Oh my.
I really liked this novella! For a short novel, it was a great story, hot, and a lot of fun to read! Nathan receives a plant from his aunt, opens the note, and pretty much ignores it. All of a sudden the plant opens and a fairy named Katenia falls out. Nathan reads the note again, his aunt tells him to take the plant home and not screw it up! Reading about how Nathan is trying to get out of his building and talk to a fairy at the same time was hilarious! Katenia somehow loses her wings and becomes a human. Her and Nathan are instantly attracted to each other and it is pretty much love at first sight. Katenia wants to go back home though, and Nathan doesn't believe in love. Reading about Katenia learning to be a human was so funny! Sex scenes were really hot. I loved this story and will definitely want to read more by this author!
I received this complimentary copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This was actually a really good book, almost 4.5 stars material, but the story seemed to skip around, genre-wise, at times. The first twenty or so pages was an adorable, fluffy fantasy romance novel opening. Then all of a sudden, everything is all about how much they want to sex each other up. Then it calms down for a bit and goes back to fluffy fantasy, then all the sex ever. It was too smutty for a romance novel, yet there was a bit too much non-smut for it to be proper erotica. I still really enjoyed it, but I wish it had made up its mind and stuck with it. Also, the lead guy, Nathan, could be a real jerk at times. Definitely not somebody I would ever want to date, and with a temper like that, probably not somebody I'd want to be friends with either. But even with those flaws, it was definitely gripping and exciting enough to earn all four stars that I gave it.
What a delightful novella. A hilarious paranormal romantic comedy. I only wish it was much longer so I could spend more time with the characters.
The very first scene pulls you into the story, and it never lets you go with its fast pace. Be prepared to laugh out loud as the heroine, an adorable fairy with a temper, learns the English she speaks is nothing like that spoken by the hero.
I am normally not a fan of the hero and heroine falling for each other quickly, but in this case, they spend 99.9% of the story together, and you can just see them growing to love each other in a very believable manner with every page all the while trying to talk themselves out of it.
Eden Ashe is going on my list of authors to watch for. She's 2—0 with me so far, and I am eagerly awaiting her upcoming Dragon's Redemption.
