GREAT START FOR NEW SERIES!

Susan Sleeman is off to a great start with her new Lost Lake Locators series. Her first release, “Lost Hours,” exemplifies her dynamic writing style, where suspense drives the romance. Sleeman captures readers' attention from the very first sentence, and you'll find yourself reading late into the night. I have always appreciated how she brings characters from her previous series into her new works. I highly recommend this book!

In “Lost Hours,” Sleeman weaves a plot involving a twisted, deadly game of cat-and-mouse that someone has meticulously planned for Nolan Orr and his teammates at Lost Lake Locators. What they thought was an evening of fun quickly turns into a scenario filled with betrayal and survival. To complicate matters, an old flame, Sheriff Mina Park, arrives to investigate. If you think things couldn’t get any more complex, you need to read it to uncover this fast-paced story's thrilling conclusion!

First Susan Sleeman book I do not like

I have read all of Susan Sleeman's books, some series multiple times and really enjoyed all of them; however, Lost Hours I had to drag through. I kept hoping it would get better, but it was difficult to finish. I liked the LLL group and saw the characters developing, but not like the Veritas group. Really wanted to like the book, but something was missing, cohesiveness of the plot, lack of connection with the main characters, and Mina just irritated me, could not like her at all. With that said I look forward to reading more about the LLL group. Just hope Mina stops being such an unlikable, self centered person.

What a fantastic start to a new series with a new team. The Lost Lake Locaters team is comprised of former law enforcement agents with various skill sets and assets. Lost Hours is of a missing woman, a murdered person, the search to find the murderer, and proving the team's innocence. Mina and Noah have a history, but there's a misunderstanding they have to resolve. This story is of forgiveness amidst tension and a fast-paced, engaging plot with twists and turns. Looking forward to reading about the rest of the Lost Lake Locaters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nolan Orr and his team Lost Lake Locators have been invited to a "killer of an evening." Being locked in an escape room is not what any of them had in mind, especially when they find the dead body of the mayor. Unfortunately the sheriff Mina Park is Nolan's ex-girlfriend. Will they be able to work together to find the killer or will their anger from the past keep them at cross-purposes?

I really enjoyed the first book in this new series by author Susan Sleeman! I love the whole concept of the Lost Lake Locators and am looking forward to each of their stories. We were introduced to each one in Lost Hours and each has their own personality and their own backstories that I can't wait to read about. Nolan and Mina have a past together. But Nolan left, seemingly without a word. Now he is back and Mina has to decide if she can trust him once again. As always Susan Sleeman brings a spiritual aspect to her characters with lessons learned throughout the story. Both Mina and Nolan have been hurt but Mina seems to be the one that is dealing with some trust issues. Can she trust the Lord to work things out and will she decide to hang onto her anger at Nolan or can she learn to forgive in order to have a future with him? Lost Hours started out as I have come to expect from all of this authors books, exciting and making the reader eager to turn the pages! A must read!

YAY! Another new series by Susan Sleeman.
Whenever I hear there is a new book by Susan Sleeman, I know it will keep me reading and not let me put it down until the very last page. YUP! This one did just that!
I’m now excited to get to know this new group of characters and see what suspense and adventures will come their way.
When I read a book by Susan Sleeman, I know I will learn many things I never knew before. She packs so much into each story, and her books will keep you on the edge of your chair. I was captivated from the very first page until the end, and I thought I knew who the bad guy really was, but NO, I was wrong. Boy, can this author twist things around, so you really must finish the story to breathe!
I love reading Susan Sleeman's books!
She also weaves beautiful truths and lessons about God’s love in a way that isn’t offensive or preachy.
I’m looking forward to reading all the upcoming books in this series, learning how the characters work through their quirks, and seeing how they let God lead them.
This book has action, tension, and suspense, as well as a bit of romance—well, maybe a little more than a bit.
If you love action, suspense, and intrigue, I highly recommend you pick this book and start reading! However, I need to warn you that once you start reading, you won’t be able to stop! I stayed up way too late to finish this book. WOW!
The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Susan Sleeman is BACK in the new Lost Lake Locators series, and I am HERE FOR IT!

In this first book of the series, we see Nolan Orr (whom we met towards the end of the Shadow Lake Survival series) take the center stage as he helps Sheriff Mina Park pursue a murderer who has kidnapped his victim’s daughter. There aren’t a lot of leads to go on, but the entire LLL team kicks into high gear to give chase, and we learn more about the backgrounds and strengths of the team that will be highlighted in this series. It’s going to be great!!

The overarching theme in the book is the choice that the various characters must make between holding onto anger or choosing forgiveness. Everyone from the sheriff to the murderer has to make a choice at some point about how they plan to conduct their relationships, and the way that they choose makes all the difference. Nolan and Mina hurt each other in the past, and I love the way that they work through that during the investigation in realistic ways.

This book also sets up the theme of found family, through the members of the Lost Lake Locators team, who all have difficult pasts and distant/nonexistent relationships with their birth families. They’ve banded together as a team that chooses to be a family, in ways that go beyond even the teams in Sleeman’s previous book series, and I’m excited to see what she does with that dynamic.

Lost Hours is a thrilling start to what promises to be a fabulous series, and I can’t wait for the rest of the stories!

My review today is on the Christian Romantic Suspense, Lost Hours. This is book one in the series Lost Lake Locators. I'm a huge fan of Susan's and have followed her for years. I am always thrilled when she launches a new story. As an author I am always amazed at how she is able to come up with her ideas. This one is incredible. I love the first chapter and the escape room. What an awesome way to open the story.

Nolan Orr and his team mates are invited to "a killer of an evening." A formal, black tie, event. Who has invited them? An evening in the mansion had to have cost a fortune especially for the whole team. After dinner they were taken into an escape room, decorated with memorabilia from their police academy days. As they figured out the puzzle they find a dead body. He now had to deal with the one woman who broke his heart, the sheriff!

Sheriff Mina Park sat at her desk wishing for something to happen. Lost Lake nearly drove her nuts in the off season. She mind drifted to her lost love. He had left without a word and broke her heart. She had to stop thinking about him. She then received a call. A murder and Nolan's team was the main suspects. They had been set up to take the fall. They didn't do it. Could she work with him after their shared past?

An exciting journey to find a killer before he finds them. God has a plan for these two brokenhearted souls, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for harm. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

A new series begins at full tilt with loads of suspense, mystery, action, romance, faith, and camaraderie. The Lost Lake Locators are good at their job of finding lost people. If I had the necessary skills, the location of their offices would be a real drawing card to seeking employment with the team. I can only dream of living somewhere with a lighthouse next door. The LLL team seemed well-suited for working together with various law enforcement agencies based on their previous jobs, skillsets, experiences, and personalities. The hero and heroine both struggled with unforgiveness. As I continued reading, I could not resist from thinking constantly that they needed to forgive and forget the past and then move on. As a close friend says: “Build a bridge and get over it.” Apparently, they were not the only ones in the story who needed a lesson in forgiveness. One of the greatest lessons in life that is so easy to preach but so difficult to put into practice is the lesson of forgiveness. In the story, we can see the results of both forgiveness and unforgiveness. This is a great example of Christian fiction at its best as we see positive values played out in story form. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

This first story in the series starts with a bang and introduces the readers to the Lost Lake Locators. A group of friends who met in college, all former law enforcers with individual skills, who have united to form a company dedicated in finding those missing. Especially when law enforcement has not been successful.
They all received an unusual invitation to a mansion on the island thinking it might have been extended by a former satisfied client. What they never expected was an escape room, discovering a body and the leader, Nolan Orr , coming face to face with the woman he never forgot , Sheriff Mina Park. A woman who broke his heart.
Add to that a missing woman and an unknown killer, and you know you will be on a rollercoaster ride for the entire book.
o the plot old misunderstandings between Nolan and Mina have to come to grips with the past where trust and what each thought was true, is likely not.
The plot was engaging and the main as well as the secondary characters, well developed.
The author delivers another clean contemporary Christian suspense, with a little romance on the side.
Looking forward to the next stories in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Frustrated and Disappointed

Mina is so self-absorbed and cowardly that she cannot make one phone call to her parents to verify Nolan's story. Presumably she is trying to avoid a confrontation - well she should have chosen a different career than law enforcement!

It is really quite disturbing the free pass given to parental betrayal and manipulation of adult children. Since when has avoidance of hard issues been a Christian response?

It really sounded like Mina's perfect home life was in fact based on lies and manipulation if the truth could be so damaging. Healthy families are accountable and are not scared to seek forgiveness and admit their failures.

This novel needed the vitality of more drama because both Nolan and Mina appear lifeless, unlikeable and even boring in their interactions. I remember reading Susan Sleeman novels In Harlequin Inspired Suspense and really enjoying them, so it is most likely that Harlequin can afford better Content Editors.

As far as the Police Procedural, it was really quite well done with all the latest DNA advances, if a little slow and boring in places.

When the beginning scene happens in an escape room and a dead body is found, you know this is a great book! The Lost Lake Locators or LLL is a fantastic new series from an author who knows how to write suspense! Nolan and his fellow former law enforcement friends form the LLL team who attend the escape room invite. They certainly don't expect a dead body but when his former sweetheart, Mina, shows up as the sheriff, he knows it's going to be a long investigation. He and Mina had a hurtful parting, and forgiveness is woven through the story. Although they have to put it off because of the murder investigation, eventually it has to be dealt with.
I enjoyed getting to know each team member of the LLL and look forward to each of their stories. They each have a skillset that is unique. Usually, they specialize in finding lost people but in this first story, they are showcased in helping to catch a murderer and a missing daughter. The details are always fascinating to me of what goes into an investigation. I highly recommend this book!

Lost Hours by Susan Sleeman
Lost Lake Locators Series Book One
Nolan Orr and his friends, more like family, bought an old inn and lighthouse and ran their business, Lost Lake Locators, or LLL, out of there. They’ve found all the lost people they were hired to find in the past year. Nolan had chosen this location as he’d visited here five years ago. He’d fallen in love…until she ghosted him. Nolan heard she’d moved to Portland but now knew she was still here. So he did what he could to avoid her.
Sheriff Mina Park figured she’d run into Nolan at some time, but she still wasn’t ready. And not under these circumstances. Her first murder case as a sheriff. Nolan and his teammates had found the body, all people she had met and liked before he left without a goodbye. Now, they were all suspects.
A superb start to this new series in the small town of Lost Lake. Looking forward, as always, to the next story.

Lost Hours, a romantic suspense novel by Susan Sleeman, was a fun read. The second-chance-at-love trope added a lot to the chemistry between the two main characters, Nolan and Mina. Brought together when a game night turns deadly, the two join forces to solve the murders in the small Pacific Northwest town. I really liked the twists and turns that Sleeman took her characters and readers through. I love solving the crimes along the way as I follow the investigation by the main characters. And the forensic science shared was very intriguing. The novel was fast-paced and kept me turning the pages — I read this one in record time. There is an ensemble cast of characters, so more great books to come! There are 5 books in the Lost Lake Locators series (2 due out in 2026)! I look forward to more great reading ahead.

Recommended.

Audience: adults.

Another series has begun! Lost Lake Locaters! I love how Susan Sleeman creates a series where every book draws you in further! She really develops the characters in a way that allows you to “know” them and always continues to give us glimpses of past series characters which is always fun.

I always enjoy a book that takes me on a journey and keeps me guessing until the end. I really like that the women characters in all her books are strong women. In this book Mina and Nolan have a lot to work through personally as well as professionally. They have a strong faith and friends that support them.

I can’t wait to read more about the rest of the team and finding those who are lost!!

This will definitely appeal to those who watch Tracker or Missing Person shows!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

Locked in an escape room in an isolated mansion . . . What a way to begin a rousing mystery. The plot escalates from the suspicious opening drama. Who could be targeting this team of former law enforcement professionals? So many surprises and twists keep readers` guessing and puzzling over what has happened and what will happen next. As usual, the author brings in some state-of-the-art investigative tools to assist with solving the crimes. I love seeing the Veritas team assist in investigations (see her other series to learn more about them). This exciting suspense novel kicks off a powerful new thriller series. If you appreciate clean mysteries with plenty of action, you should like this book, as will readers of Agatha Christie and Mary Higgins Clark. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

A fantastic start to a new series from veteran romantic suspense author Susan Sleeman. So thrilled to be in at the beginning of the Lost Lake Locators. Love the way the author introduces the team -- she excels at team banter and bonding. And the focus on finding missing people is such an intriguing theme for an entire series! A solid mystery (I finally figured out whodunnit but it was tricky for a while!) and an understated romance -- more rebuilding a friendship and learning to trust again before romance can solidify. So - Second Chance Romance with emotional depth and a focus on forgiveness and faith. Unputodwnable from start to finish.

I listened to the audible edition narrated by Whitney Dykhouse. She's a favourite narrator of mine and a familiar voice when it comes to Susan Sleeman's novels. So comfy and cozy to settle in to listen to a well loved voice.

I love everything about this series, this is book one in the Lost Lake Locators series and I look forward to reading more of all the characters I met in this book. Susan Sleeman is one of my favorite authors and she always grabs and keeps my attention. I love how so many of her books and series include people from other books and series, so you can stay connected, yet you do not have to read them all to enjoy any other book. This book is full of mystery, drama, friendship, romance, forgiveness and so much more. I loved getting to know Nolan Orr and his entire team. Mina and Nolan share a history but will they be able to work together and solve this mystery before anyone else dies. This has many twist and turns in it all wrapped up in a fast passed page turner that I have come to expect from this author. I would recommend this book. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

It was a very exciting from start to finish. Nolan and Mina had a past which was kind of rocky. So their first meeting was kind of hard. But as they worked together the love sparks flew open. Nolan had a great group of friends worked well together. They were all in for Mina and Nolan relationship. They had quite the case to solve. It kept them all on edge. So happy that it was solved. Looking forward to all the rest of the love stories for Nolan team. Also Mins and Nolan ongoing love story. Will read more by this author

Spine-tingling suspense starts off this new series and it's a keeper! When Nolan returns to Lost Lake with his team of investigators, he knows it's only a matter of time before he runs into Mina. They had a summer romance that ended badly and he hopes that someday they can resolve the past. Just not over a murder investigation - and one where he's a suspect and she's the sheriff in charge! The twists and turns of this intriguing novel kept me up on so late but it was sooooo worth it! I can't wait for Book 2. This is a definite must-read for 2025!

Lost Hours is a riveting and thrilling start to a new series. Combining a murder to solve (the wheelhouse for Sheriff Mina Park) and searching for a missing person (the objective for the newly created Lost Lake Locators) gets this new series off to an action-packed and fast-paced start. I love that characters of previous series are called on to help (although not having read those books is in no way necessary to understand and enjoy this book). I loved getting to know the new characters and am excited to read this new series!

Lost Hours by Susan Sleeman hits the gates running with a murder.

Keeping the pace, we are swept along with police officers on their night off to dinner hosted by a grateful citizen. They are escorted to an escape room, have their phones taken from them, and must now solve the mystery of how to get out. Inside the room, while solving the puzzle, the officers find a dead body in a locker. The body is the mayors.

The question is who did it and why.

I liked Nolan, although he seemed not fully up to the job. Mina, the sheriff came across as gruff and possessive.

Lost Hours is another great book by Susan Sleeman.
What is supposed to be a dinner and escape room game for Nolan and his team ends up being a murder investigation with them being framed for it.
Along with the Sheriff Mindy, a woman from Nolan's past, they work together to figure out what is going on. And to maybe rekindle what they once had. All the twists and turns in this story were so exciting. But the ending, wow, I totally didn't see that coming.

Mina and Nolan

This is a story of deceit and misunderstandings. It is a story of murder and kidnapping. It's also a story of forgiveness and love. The Mayor has been murdered and someone has been framed. The Sheriff of a small town is doing her best to find out who the true murderer is. Nolan is willing to help her if she'll accept his and his teams assistance. Can she trust him? Pick this one up today, it will keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning.

Great start to a new series

This was a great start to another new series by Susan Sleeman. It has all the wonderful characters, action, and gripping suspense that I have come to expect from her stories. Didn't have any suspension to the identity of the bad guy till the very end. Masterfully done. I also loved the secondary story of forgiveness and lost love. Really great read that I highly recommend!

Murder and puzzles, and a love renewed. Sheriff Mina has her hands full.

The Sheriff and Nolan have a past that keeps popping up in the middle of the investigation of the murder of the mayor. She is determined to keep the past just that but he keeps helping her and she can’t quit feelings falling back in place. But they are not having the easiest time finding the murderer and they still have a missing woman to save.

In Lost Hours Susan Sleeman introduces a band of investigators who find missing persons. The characters are interesting and this book easily sets up the series. While I love this genre and this author’s work, I struggled to stay invested in this story. There were instances where I felt the actions were nonsensical for trained professionals. Still, the storyline is interesting and the guilty party is surprising. Overall I enjoyed the book.

Good story

I enjoyed this book, was my first of hers, and will check out more in this series. I liked the characters, I would have liked more suspense but there was some in the beginning. It was more of a trying to figure out who killed the Mayor and why, which I thought the motive was kinda lame, over taxes. Seems like it could have been more involved but probably just me. All in all I enjoyed the book and do recommend it.

Very well written and narrated suspense! I listened to this book on Audible. This book is packed with action, suspense, and twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I thought I had a good idea who the killer was, but I never saw it coming! I really enjoyed the puzzle that the book started with, that was a great feature! The characters were well developed, and I was able to follow along, and know who was speaking through out the story. I really enjoyed it and I recommend this audiobook.

Great story and good suspense too. I really enjoyed this new book in this series starter. I appreciated that it did not end in a cliffhanger and the reader is free to read the next book if they wish but I also feel that I could read the books out of order if I wanted to. Definitely recommend this one.

Dangerous Beginnings

I liked that there were so many crooks and turns before you get to the end of the book. I love surprises and this book kept me guessing who done it. The only thing that was hard reading the story was there were so many characters that I couldn't keep up with who's who. Overall I loved this book!
