“You don’t know who I am,” I whispered. He didn’t move—either away from me, or closer—and after an interminable moment, I stepped back and hurried out of the house.

He didn’t follow me as I fled into the night.

Lylin is not used to being alone—much less alone, hurt, and lost. So when she is separated from her guard and forced to abandon her horse, she counts herself lucky to stumble upon a manor house. Still frightened by those who chased her into the night, she keeps her identity a secret, calling herself Lily as she accepts the help of kind servants and the compassion of Lord Fallon. When they fall into an easy friendship, she wonders if her secrecy was too hasty. However, as she gets to know the manor and its residents, Lylin discovers that she’s not the only one hiding secrets, and it may be a very good thing that her host doesn’t know her true identity as a member of the royal family.

I love words. I always have. In songs, in poems, in books, in movies—words move me. In my younger years, I dabbled in writing as a therapy and an escape, but I never expected it to become more than that. While deep in the depths of mommying several small children, I took seven years to write my first book, Just Ella. During that time, I taught myself how to write a novel through a whole lot of trial and error. Not the most time-efficient method, but it gave me an education I wouldn’t have received from a class or a how-to book. Something about the struggle of writing without a formula or rules worked for me. I wrote for me. I wrote from my heart space, and I think that’s the reason that Just Ella has found room in so many of my readers’ heart spaces.

I write clean romance because I love it. I love the discovery of new love. I love the relationship building that’s done with looks, words, brushing fingers, and tentative kisses. Jane Eyre is the hero of my youth and taught me that being true to yourself and clinging to your convictions will be hard, but it will bring you more genuine happiness than giving up on yourself ever can.

I am an extraordinarily happy wife, and a mother of five kids. I’ve lived in Utah, Arizona, Missouri, and Virginia, but my heart is now firmly ensconced in Idaho where we’ve built a home and a community.

I love chocolate, waterfalls, pretty teacups, the sight and sound of ocean waves, and most especially my husband and my five littles. I love books that leave me with a sigh of contentment, and I aspire to write stories that do the same for my readers.

4 stars ⭐️ Clean Fiction - YA Fantasy (non-magical) (Fairytale Retelling-like but not actually a retelling)

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this author is excellent at writing Angst™️ in her stories. Because this is the third book I’ve read by her and I’ve been a basket case of emotions for this book and the first book in the series.

Even though I greatly enjoyed “Just Ella”, I’ve been pushing off the rest of this series because I wasn’t very interested in reading Ella’s sisters’ stories. But I do want to read the series, so here I am, finally.

I loved seeing a lot of Ella and Gavin! Rain was very annoying and such a snob in the first book, so it was good to see her hidden side in this book. I’m bummed that her story isn’t the next one, but I’m definitely looking forward to it and glad to see some hard-earned character development come from the events in this book.

This was one of those books where everything is going well for a while, and then ANGST happens, but then it looks like it’s all going to be hunky dory until you look down and see you still have a third of the book to go. Buckle in, friends, buckle in.

Because of bonus content at the end, this book actually ends at 88% and when I tell you I was gasping like a fish out of water with the story ending so abruptly. Everything’s wrapped up and good and cute and all that, but I was expecting more cute scenes and was so surprised by the book ending!

This book made me stay up way too late (much like the first book) and there was a lot of action, drama, and yes, angst that kept my attention fully on this story as I was reading. There’s a classic YA style to this book and the prior one as well, but in a good way. It definitely got excited me for the rest of the series!

Main Content-
‘Saints above’ is said once; A few mentions of praying (but not towards Whom); A few mentions of gods related to constellations (a couple are named and shared what they were known for); A mention of a man “returning to his maker” after a fight; A mention of Hades; A mention of someone being called a she-devil.

Language: an unfinished ’you sniveling piece of—‘, and in the bonus content at the end ‘hell’ and ‘hell to pay’ are both used once; A couple mentions of curses (said, not written); Some eye rolling & Sarcasm.

Being stabbed and getting stitches, Being hit/attacked, Being held at sword point, Injuries, Pain, Blood/Bleeding, & Passing out (up to a handful of sentences); A couple moments of PTSD/trauma from harrowing events; Seeing a death, fighting/attacks, injuries, blood/bleeding, & another’s sobbing over a death (up to a few sentences).

Lylin has a few moments of anxiety and panic (up to a few sentences); Lylin tries to avoid lying, but does a few times in order to keep her identity a secret (which she does feel a bit of guilt about; Later, she asks her sister to lie for her as a cover); Eavesdropping; One of Lylin’s sisters is a bit of a snob, placing an importance on society standing and looks down on two of their sisters that married far below them (some of her comments are on-page and she enjoys besting those sisters; One of the sisters is hurt by her comments and lack of interest in her); Implications of a man having a type of “madness” that makes him volatile and easily angered.

Mentions of deaths, possible deaths, & grief; Mentions of abductions (including one in the first book) & planned abductions/kidnappings; Mentions of violence; Mentions of fighting, attacks, attackers/bandits, weapons, & possible hangings; Mentions of prisons & treason; Mentions of a girl’s foot being crushed and leaving her “crippled”; Mentions of injuries, pain, blood/bleeding (up to a few sentences); Mentions of alcohol, drinking, & a drunk; Mentions of nightmares; Mentions of hatred; Mentions of lies, lying, & deceit; A few mentions of jealousy; A few mentions of gossip; A few mentions of eavesdropping; A few mentions of hunting; A couple mentions of a manipulative husband sucking the life out of his wife (Book 3).

8 hand/fingers/palm kisses (some are greetings),
5 cheek kisses (one lasting a couple sentences and another, a few sentences),
6 head/forehead/hair kisses,
1 neck kiss,
1 almost kiss (lasting a few sentences and told in both POVs),
3 kisses with no details,
9 kisses lasting a sentence,
5 kisses lasting a couple sentences,
4 kisses lasting a few sentences,
Wanting to kiss (up to a couple of sentences),
Staring at lips (up to a couple sentences),
Seeing a couple married couples share kisses (up to a sentence).

Touches, Embraces, Dancing, Hand holding, Nearness, Smelling, Noticing/Staring (up to a few sentences); Wanting to touch & embrace (up to a few sentence); Blushes; Jealousy.

Rhys goes into Lylin’s bedroom at night despite the amount of trouble it could cause (nothing happens, he went there to leave her a note).

A side couple has a relationship that is called “passionate and volatile” (they yell at each other and Lylin thinks that a man who has professed love for a woman should treat her the way the man is and calls it an “awful passion”; The young woman says that they were “always good at hurting each other”).

A man makes some snide remarks to Rhys about Lily (calling her his pet and that he won’t soil her and saying she’s in the man’s bedroom when she’s not); A man stares at Lylin’s figure/body; Lylin points out her lack of curves a couple of times (in her POV).

Mentions of kisses & kissing; Mentions of jealousy; A few mentions of reputations; A mention of a guard looking away when a woman is in her underclothes.

I don’t know if my expectations were too high or maybe I just overanalyzed everything, either way this just didn’t connect with me. I liked the story and even liked the characters, but something was just off. I know a lot of people will enjoy it though so I think this is just a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.”

I liked Lylin and it was fun getting her story. She’s a sweet girl and easily likable, however if I’m being honest she never really showed that she would actually make a good queen, IMO. Maybe she was too mild or at times too timid for me. She also seemed young and I just kept thinking I hope she is a lot older when she ends up taking over the thrown. She has good qualities though; she’s loyal and doesn’t give up. She does have strength and hopefully with time and experience she will make a good queen.

I liked Rhys. I thought he handled some things poorly (like with his brother and with Lorriana). I think I wanted him to fight for Lylin more, but he accepted his fate too easily. At the same time, he really didn’t know Lylin all that well, but still. Lylin is definitely in a sticky situation and to help relieve stress she starts to write letters to Rhys, which she never plans on giving him. I guess this could be a good way to vent, but I also thought it would keep her from moving on. Almost like she was dwelling on him and what could have been. It’s a sweet storyline though so I tried not to overanalyze it. Overall, I thought they had a sweet relationship and I was happy with how everything turns out.

I’m surprised by other reviewers saying they wanted Lorriana’s story. Really? I couldn’t stand Lorriana. She’s just a brat, overly judgmental and has a huge chip on her shoulder. She judges and treats her sisters horribly. I don’t care if she always felt left out (that was mostly her own doing anyway).

I just have to say, the King and Queen really drove me nuts in this one. They never came across as very royal to me, but more than that their poor parenting just rubbed me the wrong way. The king was pretty oblivious to everything going on around him (which is a bad quality in a king). How did he not notice Lorriana and Lylin’s behavior and question what was going on. He makes a halfhearted attempt, but it just wasn’t enough to satisfy me. The queen bothered me when she sat by and let Lorriana run down her brothers-in-law and what she considered her sisters poor choices and when Lylin confronts her about it Lylin is the one to get reprimanded. Why did the queen never see fit to correct Lorriana and her horrible attitudes? This family needs some communication classes.

Overall, it was a pleasant read. I liked it and I know others will too.

I love a good princess story and this one was no exception. I loved the way this story started off--right in the middle of an adventure. This is a companion book to Just Ella. I don't think you need to read that one to understand this one, but it was fun to see some of the same characters show up in Missing Lily.

Lylin (aka Lily) is the youngest of seven sisters, all of whom are princesses. She is very sheltered and naive about life, but when she's placed in dangerous and scary situations, her natural instincts come through and she is able to handle them quite well. She's very real and down to earth. She isn't afraid to be friendly with the servants and is very kind and loving to everyone around her. However, she isn't perfect. She feels real emotions all the way around--jealousy and anger, too. Even though she felt those less than perfect feelings, she still put others wishes and needs above her own. I loved how she had such a good relationship with her sisters, even those who are so different from each other. There was something about her that really endeared her to them.

Lord Fallon is a social recluse, yet he seems very desirable. All of the young ladies want his attention. He is very honorable and loyal, determined to honor his parents dying wish no matter the cost. He's the kind of guy that you really want on your side. I could almost see him rolling his eyes in some situations, yet he took a breath and carried on like a true gentleman.

This story was full of great characters, including one that was easy to hate and fear. I loved the palace life, the adventure, the dilemmas, and of course, the romance.

Content: no language; some violence/fighting--sword fights, stabbing, tense situations, but not graphic; kissing. Clean!

How do I put into words the things I love about this book? I've read it several times (Annette is actually my sister and I help her edit), and as with Just Ella, no matter how many times I reread it, I get pulled in every time. I'm compelled to keep reading to see what happens next, even when I know EXACTLY what happens next. I get sucked into the relationships she forms, the adorable and witty dialogue, the inner struggles, the forthrightness and courage of Lylin, the irresistible charms of Rhys. He's one of those love interests where I can't wait to see what sweet thing he'll do, what thoughtful thing he'll say next.
Missing Lily is character-driven and non-formulaic, and the romance is well paced, with just enough angst and hard choices mixed with the hope of "happily ever after" to keep me reading late into the night.

I loved Just Ella this authors first book and I was excited when I saw this one come out. Her books take off right from the start and throw you into a world of Princesses and the men they fall in love with. This book was very enjoyable and filled with lots of fun tension. Her books have wrapped up nicely with lots of detail at the end to lead into another story of another sister and I hope that we will get to hear Lorraina's story next:] I am so excited to have found this author! She has jumped to my top favorites with her two books. These books are for 12 and up there is kissing and some violence but it is kept very clean.
-Re read to my 15 and 13 years olds. My 15 year old loved it but my 13 year olds said it had way too much romance and not enough action. I would categorize this book with Sarah Eden or Julianne Donaldson. But I must say I LOVED reading it again:} It is just the sweetest book:}

I have been waiting and wondering and hoping that Annette Larsen would write another book after Just Ella! I was so ecstatic when I found out she had and it was about the same royal family! This story is about Lylin, Ella's youngest sister. Right away I was taken in by Lylin's stubborn nature and her openness. I loved Rhys as a character and how strong, capable and yet mysterious he was. There is plenty of intrigue in this book which I adore and also plenty of romance! The chemistry between characters is sizzling while staying within appropriate bounds for a sweet romance. There are toe-curling kisses and love that will have you sighing and squeezing your own loved one tight. I loved the ups and downs, the unsurety of the future for Lylin, I loved it all! Princesses, dashing Lords, a King and Queen, a villain and intrigue...what more can this reader want? I loved it so much I stayed up until my eyes were burning and now I am hoping for another book in the series! I want more Annette K. Larsen, I want more!!!!

I have not read the first book in this series, Just Ella, but have heard that it's a great read. In Missing Lily, Princess Lylin is the youngest of seven princesses. She gets separated from her guard during a storm and, while being chased, finds a house and makes her way to the stables. She is discovered by Rhys Fallon and tells him her name is Lily. He doesn't get out and socialize much so he doesn't know who she really is. She's able to spend a few days there and enjoys being Lily. She feels an attraction toward Rhys but then finds out he's betrothed to someone else. She leaves at her first opportunity (without saying goodbye) and when she seems him again, the situation is complicated and devastating.

Lylin is likable. She's kind, sweet and loyal. She learns that she's going to be the next queen and she's definitely not ready now but seems like she will grow into that role as time goes on. She's also willing to take over which is something none of her older sisters would do. Rhys is handsome and also kind and loyal. He's in a tough situation and I think he was in shock when he met Lily as Princess Lylin, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in how he handled things. He's willing to keep the agreement his parents made, even if it he's personally miserable. There were some great scenes with Rhys and Lylin that took me through a range of emotions: frustration, sadness, laughter, happiness, and satisfaction.

We also meet Lylin's sister, Princess Lorraina and Rhys's brother, Tobias. Princess Lorraina is a brat and there's not much to like about her. She's critical of her older sisters' decisions yet she isn't willing to step up and take over as queen or be with someone she loves. She has a hard time taking others' feelings into account in the decisions she makes. She makes some changes towards the end, but if the next book is about her, I will pass on it. Tobias is Rhys's brother and he's also not likable. He's selfish and violent. However, after learning more about him, I found him to be more sympathetic and didn't necessarily think what happened to him was justified.

This book does stand on its own and I didn't feel lost because I hadn't read Just Ella. Ella does appear in this book quite a bit so if you want to learn her story first, then read Just Ella before you read Missing Lily. I will read it at some point in time, and knowing who she ends up with won't ruin her story for me. This is a good book that has some twists and turns and if you enjoy princess stories, this is a series you'll want to read! It's also 100% clean!

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.

I LOVED reading this author's first book, Just Ella, and this one was just as good!!! Your attention is grabbed from the first page and you're aching to find out how it will all end as you continue to read. This is a book I will read again and again!

Update: just re-read this book (for the 4th or 5th time maybe?) and I still absolutely LOVE it. There is action, danger, a secret identity, twists and turns in the plot, secret letters, and a love that will leave your toes curling long after you finish. I can’t tell you how much I love Lylin and Rhys, and can say with 100% certainty that I will definitely be rereading this one again!

2.5 stars, rounded up. This story had a good beginning, and a lot of potential. Despite some repetitive words and phrases, the writing was good. The last third of the book was all over the place and the ending dragged out to the point of me losing interest. Nothing that a good editing couldn't shape into an excellent story.

I loved loved loved this book. It seems these times were simpler times. You were reserved, polite and genuinely tried to find purpose. Sometimes though, your mouth won’t work in telling how you feel because it may be inappropriate. And that leads to hurt and sometimes worse.

I would love to live then, everyone generally being polite. But, I would miss my airconditioning too much!

Missing Lily picks up a few years after Just Ella left off. You don’t have to read that book first to enjoy this one at all but it was nice to see these characters years later.

Lilyn is the youngest sister of many in the royal family. So she never thought she would have to worry that she would be queen one day, but one by one her sisters chose different paths and it was kind of left to her. She doesn’t want it but seems to know that is what will be.

She is out with her guard Nathanial and they are over taken with some who appeared to want to hurt her. So when her guard tells her to go she flees on her horse. She is smart and purposely gets off and lets her horse go on hoping that the one rider who went after her would chase the horse and give her time to escape. She has hurt herself. She wanders and crawls over the wall to Lord Fallon’s place. She is afraid and doesn’t know who to trust. Lord Fallon finds her wounded and frightened in the stalls and takes her in and cares for her and the staff cares for her. They know her as Lily. Since no one knew her, she was unsure who to trust so she gave a false name. Lord Fallon is a kind man who is a bit of a recluse. We find out why later but he seems taken with her. The staff and Lord Fallon work well together and he seems to have an informal relationship with them and they respect each other. Lilyn aka Lily finally feels safe but doesn’t know if or how to tell them who she is. But she is stuck there do to the storm and some flooding. She worries about her family missing her and worrying about her.

When the guards show up looking for her, she runs off without saying goodbye.

Back at home, she finds her sister (Who to me is a little snobbish) letting her parents arrange her marriage. I am sure you can guess who that is. So when Lord Fallon comes to the court and sees who Lilyn really is, he is a little shocked. And now Lilyn has to watch him court his sister. (I don’t know if I could idly stand by and do nothing). Both Lilyn’s older sister Ella and her guard Nathaniel know her feelings. Then we get a little tension with Lord Fallon’s brother who is not a nice, kind or any good virtue in him man! He comes to the palace and that’s where the story really gets going. Because apparently, Lilyn’s sister loves this man and he loves her. So we have 4 people that aren’t happy and none has voiced their concerns.

So I thought okay somehow it will all come out and all will be right with the world, the end. But no, there was much more to the story. There is action, fighting, arrows, stitches, Balls, horse riding, thoughts of revenge, unconditional brotherly love, confessions of love, love that cannot be, sorrow and happiness.

This is a wonderful clean story that is fun and just makes you feel good inside. I hope she has another book so I can see what happens to Lorraina (Lylin’s sister)

After having loved Just Ella, I couldn’t wait to read the story of her youngest sister, Princess Lylin. While I enjoyed it and thought it was cute, there was something about it that kept me from loving it as much as the first book in this series.

Princess Lylin first meets Rhys after she is attacked and separated from her guard, and they begin their relationship with her keeping her royal identity a secret. Their friendship develops rapidly before Lylin is rescued, and when she finally sees Rhys again, there is a rather big obstacle keeping them apart .

I really liked both Lylin and Rhys, although not as nearly much as Ella and Gavin (and speaking of that adorable couple, it was so much fun seeing them make a reappearance with their two-year-old daughter! I really wish there had been more scenes with them). I think part of the problem was I would have liked to have seen more relationship development between them. Apart from the beginning, most of the time they spend together is spent not communicating much due to the obstacle separating them; in fact, most of their communication is in the form of undelivered letters. I would have liked to have seen both characters fighting for one another more.

In addition, I absolutely hated the antagonist and the entire conflict with him, a lot of which was quite violent. I feel the characters dealt more with this conflict than with their relationship, which annoyed me.

Despite my minor issues, Missing Lily was still a very enjoyable story, just not near the extent as Just Ella. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and discover the rest of Ella's darling sisters' stories.

I was so excited to hear about this book coming out! I loved Annette Larsen's first book, "Just Ella", and I just knew I was in for a fantastic read with Missing Lily.

This is a sweet, endearing tale of a princess and a young man who meet under not so ideal circumstances but become friends. Princess Lylin arrives at Lord Fallon's home wet, hurt and alone. He offers assistance and help when she so desperately needs it.

Lord Fallon is all things gentlemanly and kind. As Lily recovers and heals, she and Lord Fallon begin a friendship. Lily keeps her identity as a princess a secret not only to protect herself but also to keep the friendships she is forming with Lord Fallon and his household the same. She knows if she told them the truth, everything would change.

Of course Lily has feelings for Lord Fallon. How could she not? He is handsome and honorable. But eventually Lily must return to the palace and resume her duties there.

The road for Lily is bumpy and full of potholes. Her tender feelings are bruised yet she almost always handles herself with decorum. I love that she is kind and tries so hard to please her family.

This was just such a sweet story- enjoyable from beginning to end. It was romantic and heart felt. The characters really come alive and I felt like I could visualize every scene. I fell in love with Lily and Lord Fallon. They were perfect. This is a book I can easily hand off to anyone, young or old. It is clean and it is endearing. I love the way Annette Larsen writes!

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Missing Lily is a clean YA fantasy romance with fairy tale elements. It's a cute story with a secrets, a sweet romance, and a nice ending. If you liked Ms. Larsen's first book Just Ella, I think you'll enjoy this sequel about Ella's younger sister.

Lylin is an interesting character. Brought up with etiquette in the forefront of every public action, it's fun to watch her interact with the less rigid Lord Fallon and his household. Lylin and the handsome Lord Fallon fall for each other rather quickly, though a certain secret makes any relationship between the two impossible.

I liked the plot, the part the letters played (I can't get into it without spoilers). Lylin is in an impossible situation and my heart really went out to her. The best part of this novel was the characters and the interactions among them.

While one could say the descriptions paint a vivid image of the setting, I felt mired at times and thought they made the novel move too slow. Sometimes it's better to leave things to the reader's imagination. While I couldn't put Just Ella down, I had to force myself to read this one at times. I felt like the first third to half of the story dragged, while the second part flew by. All in all this is a good story with great characters and a suspenseful plot.

First off, I absolutely loved the first book in this series--Just Ella. So I was hoping for more of the same. For the most part, Annette delivered, though I was less than satisfied near the end. My high five favorite parts of the book:

1. Great situation at the beginning. (Not sure that it really got solved in the end, but maybe I missed something.)
2. Awesome main characters.
3. Being a princess isn't always about balls and pretty dresses.
4. The guy and the girl working as equal partners.
5. Love isn't always easy, but if you want to, you can make it through hard things. (I didn't care for the foil couple, but then again, I suppose I wasn't supposed to.)

Although I'm not sure the inciting incident was "explained" fully--or at least what it had to do with the villain (come to think of it, there are a few unanswered questions, but the important stuff is there), I enjoyed this book. And if there's another one after it, I look forward to it as well. Missing Lily is good, clean, escapist fiction, and if you want a peek into a princess's life, it's worth the read. It's appropriate for girls of all ages.

I guess I'm the odd one out. I didn't love this book. Larsen's first book 'Just Ella' was so good, but this one was very average and sometimes even boring. The best part for me was the beginning. It grabbed my attention, and was something different and exciting. I wish the rest of the book would have kept up with the intrigue.

This author continues to create one of a kind books within the same royal family. I appreciated the intrigue, the struggle, the progression, the honesty, and the changes.

Wow... Not sure how this managed to be so achingly sweet and so terribly heart-wrenching at the same time. Lylin was a dear, and so was Rhys, and I was rooting for them both from the start, although I wasn't sure what it was going to take to get them together as the complications started twisting around them. I appreciated the way that they tried to fight their attraction when their responsibilities pulled them in opposite directions, as hard as it was. And although I'm usually frustrated when one of an engaged pair continues to do things that make the non-engaged person love them even more, I wasn't as bothered in this one, since what brought those feelings on was just being their own honest, friendly selves.

Also, can I just say, there's really nothing simple about the side characters in this one. King Forrester frustrates me so bad--he seems like he's a fairly competent king and a caring father, but just about every time he sticks his nose into his daughters' love lives, things go terribly wrong. :P I wanted to send him somewhere far away and let everyone else work things out a couple of times, but there's no denying that he has mostly good intentions, if his execution tends to be off. Lorraina I disliked with a passion--until she turned around and said something that made me feel compassion for her--over and over again. And then she made the right choice for what could have been a superficial reason but ended up being rooted in some very wise instincts. I honestly feel for her now, and I'm very curious to see where her story goes.

This series doesn't shy away from the hard topics--in this one, toxic romance, wayward family members, working through a desire for vengeance, and trying to help someone who won't let themself be helped. It's not an easy read , but for me, who tends to shy away from heavy topics, I felt like it was very well handled, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Marilee's book holds.

4.5 stars

Content note--I found one profanity in one of the "bonus scenes" at the end of the book, but since it was a bonus scene and not part of the main story, I just skipped it

The Man🐺 Who Would Be 👑King

Sweet Historical Style Romance💕 and Mystery in a Fantasy 👑Kingdom.

The Princess👸of Dalthia, Lylin, one of five sisters, is attacked in her way home from visiting. While her guard battles two highwaymen, she races away but is soon lost in the darkening woods. Leaving her horse to confuse the man chasing her, she stumbles through the dark in the rain, and finally comes upon a manor🏰.

Rhys, Lord Fallon, the owner of the house🏰 finds Lylin👸 in his stable, and she feighns amnesia. She doesn't want him to know she is the Princess👸so she calls herself Lily👸

Lord Fallon🐺 falls in love with Lily👸 immediately, and only wants to keep her safe. He is somewhat of a recluse and doesn't attend balls or society functions, so most don't know who he is.

Rhys🐺 has a younger brother Tobias👺, that is a degenerate, out of control, and mad at The 🌎world. He shows up and immediately causes trouble.

This book is written in first person from Lily's👸 point of view. I enjoyed this SWEET romance.

Another good book! I loved Lylin and Rhys. The supporting characters were interesting, difficult at times. The story was a little strange, but it all came together in the end. I'm not sure about the parents...they seem a little oblivious to what's going on with their kiddos.

Missing Lily is the companion novel to Just Ella, which if you haven't read, you should go buy and read it right now! If you absolutely can't wait to read Missing Lily, which I understand, you can read the books out of order. Reading Just Ella first will just give you more background on the kingdom and the Royal family.

Missing Lilly starts when Princess Lylin is on her way home from her sister's and men try to kidnap her. Lylin's guard fights them off, and sends her ahead. After hours of running away on horseback, then on foot, Lylin finds a barn to hide in. The owner of the barn and manor finds her and takes her in. At first, Lylin hides her identity because she's just been chased for nefarious purposes, then she keeps hiding her identity because she likes being "Lily". She likes befriending The Lord of the manor, Rhys Fallon, she likes being treated normal. Blissful days go by as Lily and Rhys' friendship grows, until Rhys mentions that he's betrothed. Shortly thereafter Lily goes home, still thinking of Rhys, but honoring his integrity to his unknown bride.

My favorite part of the story was the letters that Lily writes, starting when she returns home. She writes heartfelt letters to Rhys that she never plans to send explaining her deception and her feelings. When unforeseen circumstances bring Rhys and Lily together again, yet still keep them apart, the letters helped settle my angst! Even though they weren't being sent, they gave me hope for some honest communication between our characters in the future.

Missing Lily was a story full of adventure, love, and honorable (and admirable) characters. Okay, they were dishonorable characters, they move the plot along. Lily and Rhys just seemed so worthy of finding love and happiness together. I loved the book and can't wait for Annette Larsen to write more!

Content: Clean. Some violence (sword fighting), no swearing, some kissing. I'd feel comfortable giving this to a young teenager to read.

LOVED. LOVED...... LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

I grew up with the Disney classics of Cinderella and Snow White; and I dreamed of the day that I would be the princess standing next to my knight in shining armor looking to live happily ever after.

Books like this keep that dream alive!

They inspire me to reach for the best and know that within me is a royal princess.

They also help me relax as I simply enjoy a REALLY GREAT STORY!

Princess Lylin finds herself in a very precarious position.

She is hiding in a stable after being hurt and chased hoping to just wait out the storm.

Lord Rhys Fallon is a recluse by choice and is surprised when he finds a young woman seeking shelter in his stable.

Not knowing if she can trust him with her true identity Lylin tells Rhys that her name is Lily and leaves out the fact that she is from the royal family.

As they wait for the roads to become passable they find themselves becoming great friends.

But when Lily finds out that Rhys is betrothed to another she flees without saying goodbye.

Knowing that was not the "proper" thing that a princess should do...she sets out to write a letter explaining....

GREAT TWIST AND TURNS AWAIT FOR YOU IN THIS STORY... :)
SUCH AN ENJOYABLE TALE!
Please read this book...you will be SO GLAD you did!

***4.5 Stars****

This book made me happy. The end.

(Just kidding)I didn't find any reason to not fall in love with this story. The plot is cute, the book has excellent pacing, the characters are very likable, and it is suitable for anyone of any age.

Lylin is a princess who has her own opinions, she thinks and acts quickly and she has empathy for others. She is the seventh daughter and has a close relationship with her sisters.

Returning home from visiting her sister Ella, fromJust Ella, she is ambushed by thugs, she escapes by using her whits. She is injured cold, and frightened. She finds her way to a barn, intending to hide when she is discovered by the owner.

This begins a great story. She doesn't know who to trust, so she gives him a false name, Lily. The story begins with distrust, but quickly becomes a clean romance. Lylin learns that Lord Fallon is an honorable man. He is also handsome!

There are some intriguing plot twists that keep the reader turning pages. I didn't find a dull moment in the book. It kept my interest from start to finish. While this book comes after "Just Ella", you do not have to read them in order to stay caught up in the story. They are both wonderful, so I see no reason why you wouldn't want to. :)

As seventh daughter of the king Lily is a little extreme in her antics and views. But she is in for a bit of adventure and shock when she gets home and chats with the king. On her adventure she meets Rhys Fallon and become fast friends as he helps Lily. Lily keeps secrets and does not tell Rhys she is the daughter of the king. But when Rhys and Lily meet again it is at the palace as he is betrothed to her sister. I personally am sick about it as is Lily. Things get sticky as Rhys stays at the palace for a month to get to know Lorriana. The plot thickens as the king invites lord Wisen to escort Lily. Lilly is not happy about this arrangement and it happens Lord Fallon witnesses this and it becomes a bit tense. So, who will speak up first and try to fix things so Rhys and Lily can be together? Or will they both forgo saying anything and suffer. You will have to read it to find out. I have to say I love all the twists and unexpected along the way. A fulfilling, sweet, sassy and satisfying read that left me extremely happy!

Just Fyi- This story has no sex or swearing!
