7 Moons Hotel: The Amulet's Game

Rate this book
Vampire? Yes. Detective? Not yet. Delinquent? Absolutely.
Avira Savio's boredom often leads to unlawful shenanigans. After a black market takedown goes wrong, she faces two options: Jail or taking the reins of 7 Moons Hotel.

But neither option comes without strings attached, and if Avira gets five one-star reviews, she’ll have to face the cryptic Plan B. A punishment she refuses to uncover. However, things do not go as planned. Her role as Hotel Manager quickly derails when she meets Mystic Eye Investigations Head Witch, Miss Caine.

When a magical threat strikes the hotel, Avira finds herself in a web of illusions. Hidden within 7 Moons’ vintage walls is the Oldera Amulet. An unknown foe seeks the Amulet’s activation. However, with magic, things are never so simple. The hotel must crumble for the past to breach the present. With every minute passing, Avira and Miss Caine must stop the Amulet’s activation.

Can they contain the threat? Or will 7 Moons Hotel become the catalyst for a time-warping destruction?

By far I'm not any expert in genres but this one I don't think it's under the cozy mystery but just mystery. The feeling I got was quite darkish but in a good way. Also there's an inconcistency that is bugging me. If Avira has worked in the past in the hotel during summer how come noone recognises her and she has to prove herself so in the end they'll have to give a positive review of her? I mean Betsy tells us very clearly that she has worked there for 21 years and Avira is 21 years old you get it?
Anyhow despite those two "anomalies" it was very interesting and quite unputdownable. I would totally recommend it if you like paranormal mysteries without goriness.

This novella is a cozy paranormal mystery. The setting is in a vintage hotel, and the main character is a vampire delinquent who loves to solve mysteries! She gets sent to her uncle's hotel to work for the winter, she isnt too happy about it, but it beats spending it in jail! They team up with a witch detective to solve a mystery at the hotel. I mean, what's not to like about this story? I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more from this series when they get released.

Join vampire Avira, who has a tendency to break the law, as she teams up with witch Hazel, a private detective, to solve a case threatening the 7 Moons Hotel.

This was a fast paced, paranormal mystery. Perfect if you want a quick read. It combines a wonderful magical world with various different creatures, mysteries and mayhem.

I enjoyed Avira and Hazel’s relationship and hope to see them solve more mysteries in the next book. I was definitely left with some unanswered questions I hope to get resolved in book 2.

I did wish that there were more details in the book. Maybe with it being so short it didn’t have time to fill in the gaps but I would have preferred more depth to the characters and world.

I also struggled slightly with the initial concept that Avira was allowed to manage her Uncle’s hotel instead of going to jail when she had racked up a serious charge list. This book did have a youthful vibe to it. I don’t know if it’s aimed at young adults but it did feel like it would be better for younger readers in my opinion. Avira is 21 but they treat her like a child.

Overall it was a good book and I would recommend it to those looking for a YA paranormal mystery.

In 7 Moons Hotel, author Laura Espinal Corpeno invites readers into a cozy paranormal mystery that leans more toward “what’s really going on here?” than classic detective procedural. The story begins with Avira Savio, bored heir and black sheep of a powerful vampire family, being scolded for meddling in a black market investigation. As punishment, she must manage her uncle's 7 Moons Hotel, a curious establishment that caters to a clientele made up almost entirely of monsters.

The hotel holds more secrets than first meets the eye (and eye... and eye). Enter Hazel Caine, a prickly witch detective on the trail of a dangerous amulet before it falls into the hands of an illusion shifter. Sandwiched between these two cases is where the story takes place, and where Avira glimpses her true potential.

There’s plenty of mystery in this imaginative world of monsters, magical mayhem, and supernatural intrigue. What is the amulet? Who really wants it, and why? The book ties up its threads in a satisfying conclusion while leaving enough unanswered to make readers eager for the next installment. I can’t wait to see where the series goes from here.

Luigi’s Mansion meets a world of fantasy in this unique novella! I don’t generally read mystery books, but this was one of the best books I’ve read in 2025. I would recommend it to any fantasy or mystery reader.

This book was a fun, and quirky read. I was intrigued from the start as the premise of the book was not something I’ve read before. It had a lovely little mystery included and lots of magical elements. There was nothing too overly complicated in this story, the world building was very simple - I would probably have liked to have seen more world building if I’m honest. Along with that, I think we needed a bit more of Avira’s history as I feel that we didn’t get quite enough background on her and her family.

The story wrapped up nicely however a lot was left unexplained, this I believe was on purpose and will hopefully be explained in book 2, which I will be having the pleasure of reading next as I have received an ARC.

7 Moons Hotel offers a fresh take on the supernatural genre by combining a vampire protagonist with an unlikely career path - hotel management! When Avira Savio's troublemaking lands her in hot water, she's given an unusual sentence: run a hotel or face jail time. But what starts as community service quickly evolves into an engaging mystery filled with magical threats and time-bending dangers.
The story's greatest strength lies in its imaginative setting. The 7 Moons Hotel itself becomes a character, with its vintage walls hiding secrets and magical artifacts. The author cleverly weaves together elements of paranormal fiction with cozy mystery vibes, creating an atmosphere that's both whimsical and intriguing. The partnership between Avira and Miss Caine, the Head Witch of Mystic Eye Investigations, adds depth to the narrative and creates entertaining dynamics.
While the central mystery involving the Oldera Amulet resolves somewhat quickly, it's appropriate for the young adult audience and maintains a brisk pace that keeps readers engaged. The stakes are high - with the hotel's potential destruction and time-warping consequences hanging in the balance - but the story never loses its sense of fun.
Avira's character is particularly enjoyable - a vampire delinquent forced into responsibility makes for both humorous situations and genuine character growth. The unique premise of a supernatural being having to maintain a five-star rating or face mysterious consequences adds a modern twist to the paranormal genre.
If you're looking for a YA paranormal mystery that offers something different from the usual vampire fare, 7 Moons Hotel delivers an entertaining stay you won't want to check out from.

If you know me, you know I love a good mystery. Add vampires and witches into the mix and it becomes the perfect combination. I am so grateful to the author for gifting me this incredible ARC, I loved it! 7 Moons Hotel: The Amulet's Game is a first-person POV cozy Paranormal mystery. It follows Avira Savino, a delinquent vampire thrust into hotel management, as she teams up with Hazel Caine, a grumpy witch detective, to find a missing amulet that could have terrible consequences for the hotel and its guests.

The world-building in the book is great. Even though 98% takes place in the hotel, you almost feel like you're there. I also loved the relationship between Avira and Hazel. Avira's need to help juxtaposed with Hazel's desire to do things herself really fit both characters, and once they finally teamed up, it was great. Most things were tied up nicely by the end, with enough questions left for book two. The one thing that stuck in my mind, how Avira's uniform stayed clean. I don't remember it being charmed to be self-cleaning and the girl full-on battled a sand monster in it, then woke up the next day and put it back on!

This book was a cute little Paranormal romance and I can't wait to read book two!!

7 Moons Hotel: The Amulet’s Game (Book 1) by Laura Espinal Corpeno

Tropes
🔎Cozy Mystery
🔎Humor
🔎Vintage Hotels
🔎Reluctant allies
🔎Grumpy X Sunshine due

The book follows Avira Savio's. When a black market takedown goes wrong, Avira faces two options. She can either go to jail or manage the 7 Moons Hotel. Managing the 7 Moons Hotel seems like the best option but it comes with a catch. The hotel are not allowed to get more than five one-star reviews. If that happens she will have to face a cryptic plan B. It seams easy to manage the hotel, as she needs to just keep the guest happy. That's until she meets Mystic Eye Investigations Head Witch, Miss Caine.

It took me a bit of time to get into to story. It might be that I missed important info but I got caught up quickly. The mystery part of the story was done well. We got to see Avira and Hazel work together and try to solve the mystery. I would have like to understand more of what the Amulet was about. the hotel staff is amazing and I love how they form part of the story. They definitely played an important part in the book.

It was such a fun read and I really enjoyed it. It was also a short and quick read. I love the overall twist of a cozy mystery but with paranormal. I would love to read more of Hazel's back story and are interested to see where this all goes.

Can’t wait to read the second book.

Thank you Laura Espinal Corpeno for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.

It's not truly a bad story, it's just that the execution isn't really bringing it all the way.
The idea I liked, a magical Hotel with monsters and humans co existing and it being mysteries and what not. I also liked that the character was an adult, but in this case I think it would have been better had she been younger, or that the detective didn't get her in the beginning but her mother forcing her away for her own good.
I can't buy that her Uncle would leave his hotel that he has had for many many years just before the grand opening. It would have made more sense if he was still there and she worked as an employee.
There was also a lot of phrases that was used over and over again, like "assaulting my nose". There wasn't really any time for a pause, there was constantly something happening, all in a span of 4 days, it made it kind of exhausting to read.
As I said tho, I liked the idea and I will look forward to see what the author writes next.

A charming, mysterious little gem that feels like the start of something bigger. More than just a self-contained mystery, it’s really about settling the reader into this quirky, magical hotel and introducing us to characters I can’t wait to spend more time with.

Avira makes for such a fun, chaotic lead, and paired with Hazel, the hints of a potential sapphic romance absolutely hooked me. The mystery itself is engaging without being too heavy, balancing intrigue with playful charm. It’s not quite cozy, but it’s not grim either; it sits in that sweet spot of being both fun and a little shadowy.

Overall, it’s a delightful setup for the series to come, and I’m already eager for the next installment.

I received a digital copy from the author and decided to provide an honest review.

This was a fun, fast-paced novella that does a good job introducing the main character and the principles that she is all about. The majority of the story takes place in a magical hotel setting that holds plenty of secrets and danger. Adding in a mysterious witch detective with a pressing case to solve and a reluctance to partner up, and the story is set. I enjoyed watching Hazel and Avira work together and am excited to see how their relationship develops and the investigating on future cases that they do. This novella was a good introduction to the two of them working together, so I am curious to see how it will look when they are united from the start.

3.5 rounded up

I'm a bit late getting this ARC review out, but it had nothing to do with my visit to 7 Moons Hotel. 🌝

This was a solid start to the series! I really like Avira's scrappy attitude and look forward to learning more about Hazel and how she came to set up Mystic Eye Investigations. And I definitely want to see where this reluctant business partnership is going to lead.

The mystery portion of the story was well done, although I wish it had been fleshed out a little more - I'd like to have known more about the amulet, the illusions, and definitely who was behind it. But I guess we'd have had to have Hazel's perspective for that part of it. 😉

Can't wait to dive into the ARC of the second book!

This was a quick and pretty fun read. I’m not used to reading mystery novels, but I decided to pick this up because I was intrigued by the vampire x witch duo and the cozy fantasy tone.

Rather than a real mystery, the novella serves as an introduction for future cases to solve and to introduce us to the characters. Avira was such a funny character—she’s a vampire, but she isn’t your usual vampire. The whole story was pretty humorous, and I loved the dynamics between Avira and Hazel.

The vintage hotel, open to monsters and humans alike, delivers Hotel Transylvania vibes, and I think this book is perfect for a light yet spooky read during Halloween.

This was such a thrilling story!
You get pushed straight into it on page one and it gets more and more interesting from there. The story has a good pace and it's easy to follow, and you almost grow together with Avira cause you can feel her feelings and follow her thoughts. She's such a sweet and funny character.

As the story moved, the more stressful it became. What a wild roller-coaster ride. I recommend this book for the those who love mystery, vampires, witches, characters that grows and get to know themselves, and for those who'd love a suspenseful sweet read.

I got this book for free as I'm an ARC reader for 7 Moons Hotel, for an honest review.

The book is an entertaining and captivating blend of paranormal mystery and everyday chaos. Avira Savio is a rebellious vampire who is forced to run the mysterious hotel as punishment. I’m swept into a world filled with illusions, magic, and unexpected alliances. It’s a charming and exciting start to a series that balances mystery, character development, and a rich mythical background in a captivating way. I’m really looking forward to following the next chapter in this magical world.

Thank you so much Laura for letting me be a part of your team. 🌺❤️

3.5/5

The plot of the book was awesome, however i got pretty confused over the things being discussed in the book.

Considering it was a prequel, I would have liked it if the world and the different types of magical beings were explained. For a lot of things it felt like the reader should already know how things work. Also, for most part of the book Avira didn't feel like a vampire but a human.

Despite that I am excited to read the next book and hope that it will give us more details.

I think this author had access to my weirdest dreams! But in a good way.
Ms. Corpeno writes quite the paranormal story! Vampires and witches. Illusions, amulets, and magnificence, all inside one big beautiful hotel.
Avira is relegated to work in her uncle's hotel as punishment. Despite her deeds actually being good, she broke the law, so...
She has to get five star reviews or risk going to jail.
What she encounters at the hotel will test her to the max.

7 Moons Hotel was a really great paranormal mystery.

The lore is subtly established, giving us enough information to understand what's going on but not too much so it doesn't feel like an information dump.

I really liked Avira's sense for adventure and her determination to save the hotel.

Hazel Caine was really mysterious and interesting and I can't wait to read more about her.

The hotel seems like the perfect setting for a mystery series as many questions are left unanswered.

I am intrigued and cannot wait to read what happens next.
