I had a difficult time engaging with this second-in-a-series by one of my favorite historical romance authors, and ended up a little disappointed. I didn’t find much of what I’ve loved of the author’s previous books; namely chemistry and connection between the MCs, smokin hot, deliciously filthy sex scenes, and a story that captured and held my interest.

I did enjoy Conrad and Gigi’s first meeting. She walks to a stream that has a lovely little waterfall, thinking about taking a dip when she realizes she’s not alone. She peeks, he’s naked, she ogles, and he catches her watching him, requesting a kiss for the show she got. It was a very primal mutual attraction, and I was loving it. But I realized when I finished the book that this first interaction was the only one that brought the heat for me. Almost every scene that followed which involved them being partially or fully naked felt without connection, though I did love the role-playing aspect. But all the “gushing” Gigi did (think about it… or maybe don’t) was just cringe.

There was so much potential here: enemies to lovers, a ruthless, self-made man who was a former prizefighter bent on vengeance for terrible wrongs done to both him and his mother, secret identity, who is trying to kill Conrad? … but most everything just felt oddly flat.

The appearances of Gigi’s brother Ethan and his wife Xenia, the MCs from book one, were simply a reminder to me of how much more I enjoyed the first book. I went back and forth in my mind, trying to figure out if it was me, or the book, and came to the conclusion that it was, indeed, the book.

Many thanks to the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was better than the first. I can’t even remember what happened in the first book. 😅

There’s forced proximity, which I enjoyed because those scenes tend to lead to steamy moments between Conrad and Gigi, like two carriage scenes. 😏😏😏 There seems to be more fellatio than I can recall ever reading in a Grace Callaway book. Just an observation.

Speaking of fellatio, the second time we see the hero, he’s getting his c*ck sucked off by a widow and prostitute during an orgy. Then he agrees to take the widow home and have sex with her (not described). This is three months after his unexpected encounter with the heroine in the woods, whom he thought was a mute and a maid. I don’t mind reading scenes like this but I know some readers do.

He says, “I love you” first but Gigi was the first to realize that she’s falling in love with him. When he realizes that he can’t live without her, he proposes. She is hesitant at first because they don’t know each other that well. 👏👏👏 and she’s correct since he’s keeping secrets from her (hence, the title of this book). I assume his two secrets are his true identity and his revenge plot.

Her family makes a few appearances, as this series will be based on her and her brothers’ romances. Her parents have their own romance in another series, which I’ve read but recall the specifics. The last 2-3 chapters have events that leads into the next book.

4.5/5. Releases 5/8/2025.

Heat Index: 8/10

—small town romance but historical

—satyr/nayad roleplay

—oh no someone is trying to kill my man with statues

—head over heels whirlwind

The Basics:

When magnate Conrad Godwin sweeps into the tiny village of Chudleigh Bottoms, Lady Gigi Harrington is not here for his "I am going to buy everything up including your friend's business" ways. But she is here for all the times he has her look at erotic books and gives her unimaginable pleasure. A few problems: A) there's no way her loving family will approve of him B) should they really be rushing into this? C) who is trying to kill Conrad by shoving statues onto his head and such?

The Review:

The thing about Grace Callaway is that she's basically incapable of NOT entertaining the reader. Her books always have a bit of mysterious at minimum, but her latest series has softened it a bit with the setting of Chudleigh Bottoms (which is a bit of a legacy setting for longtime readers). This series is kind of a warm hug for readers. Yes, someone is trying to kill Conrad in ways suitable for a Loony Tunes character, but in many ways this is a small town romance gone historical, with a bit less of the Gothic than its predecessor.

I mean, there are some hints at... dream connection to the dead? Maybe a touch of reincarnation? I wasn't 100% sure, but a bit of communing with the dead did happen, much as it did in the first installment of this series.

But plot stuff aside, a lot of this is really focused on a rather whirlwind romance between Conrad and Gigi. The romance kicks off immediately here. He's her Viking (until he isn't and she kind of hates him, but only for a minute) and she's his nymph. Then he introduces her to a naughty book about a satyr named Prick and a nayad named Pearl, and they're that! Might I add, I am a sucker for a historical romance in which people get their hands on racy novels and Learn Things. And Gigi certainly does learn things.

Gigi is a classic Callaway heroine—maybe a bit more sheltered and less insane than some that came before her. But she's still a bit spirited and a lot sweet. Conrad has some torture to his past (I mean, it's kinda significant) but he doesn't carry it quite the same way as a lot of tortured Callaway heroes do. He resists the call of love for a bit, all "Oh, I won't marry this girl, it's just a bit of fun" ... But when the time comes, he's the one who really cops to love first. And he's in? He's IN.

I've noticed recently that there's been a bit of a trend in historical romance for characters who kind of lose their heads to passion, commit, and then realize that they need to learn some things about each other. I do like it. Here, you really believe that Gigi and Conrad get swept up in their feelings ... and then they kind of have to get to know each other for real.

My one critique of this book would be that Conrad is kind of carrying a lot of the narrative weight on that level? But that's part of what you often run into with second gen series. Gigi's parents had their damage, but they recovered from it—and you can't give second gen kids in romance TOO much trauma because you undermine the happiness of the first gen, right? So I get it, and it's a minor critique. I am VERY much looking forward to the next book.

The Sex:

Grace writes such fun sex scenes, and Conrad is basically jumping at any opportunity to hit his knees and give Gigi what she deserves. As always with a Callaway novel, there's a bit of butt stuff, and it's well-appreciated. But I especially loved the role-playing. So cute! And hot!

The Conclusion:

If you're a Grace Callaway fan, you will have a great time with this. If you're not and you want a small town vibe with a lot of heat, a good dose of humor, and a touch of mystery—you'll also have a great time. And the next book is marriage in trouble? Say less.

Thanks to Grace Callaway and her team for a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Two Secrets to Surrender is the second book in the Blackwood Legacy series, and I had so much fun reading Gigi and Conrad's rompy and steamy romance. The satyr and nymph roleplaying was so perfect for these two 🔥 (iykyk).

Conrad Godwin is an industrialist with a notorious reputation and he wants to acquire the Roman bath spa located in the quirky village of Chudleigh Bottoms. Lady Gigi Harrington is helping her friend, the spa owner, renovate and reopen it to the public. There's no way her friend is selling the spa and Gigi is supportive of her decision. Conrad and Gigi inevitably clash because of this.

First of all, the meet cute was so much fun and hooked me right away. Peeping at him while he's bathing in the waterfall? Yes, please 😂 I always love a meet cute that builds up my anticipation and this one really got me excited for Gigi and Conrad's next meeting.

Grace Callaway's enemies to lovers books are always so much fun to read. I love a shady, secretive, and ruthless hero who has big plans for revenge. I don't know what that says about me 😂🤭 In my defense, his heroic actions and the choice he made at the end clinched his character arc in a satisfying way. I really like that Conrad got the justice he was due without sacrificing the good parts of himself.

I really love this quirky fictional village Grace Callaway has created. I also love the overarching cursed-village arc. This supernatural aspect really levels up the series for me and I'm excited to see where it goes in the next book. James and Evie!!! I'm salivating for their story!!! 😍

We’re back in the small town of Chuddleigh Bottoms with one of my favorite families. This time Gigi, youngest daughter and reunion child of Marcus and Pandora, takes the spotlight with a hot naked Viking she meets by the lake. After a make-out AND naked meet-cute they don’t see each other again until Conrad returns to Chuddums to continue his lengthy revenge quest. While there, these two can’t seem to stop locking horns and lips. Leading to many sexy adventures and a push-pull of emotions.

Conrad & Gigi
I adore enemies-to-lovers when either they feel like legit enemies OR (like in this instance) they have competing interest that cause friction with each other but they’re both so attracted and down bad, they simultaneously can’t stop arguming and flirting. Conrad and Gigi are more alike than they realize, but due to his endless secret-keeping, and her meddling (but well-intentioned) family it takes them a while to get on the same page. Gigi is absolutely the daughter of Marcus and Pandora, the way she is so scheming and confident while also endlessly caring and selfless, screamed daddy and mama Harrington. And this compassion is something Conrad desperately needs.

I’ll read anything Grace Callaway writes, and I think she delivers so well on creating characters you care about and want to see more from. While Conrad and Gigi are for sure the dominant couple in this book, I like how invested I am in the rest of the family and how the other two siblings’ love stories will play out. The heat is high, the twists just on the right side of melodramatic, and the characters are so consistent to what I would expect. I love this family, so any time we spend with them is a win. Did the enemies turn lovers relatively quick? Sure. But there was still so much conflict after the “I love you’s” that I didn’t know how it would go. Chuddleigh Bottoms is just also a really fun place to me, the small-town energy with hilarious side-characters and deep lore is like coming home after a long day.

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for an eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own. So excited for Evie and James' story since Grace writes such excellent second chance/marriage in trouble books, I know she’ll do these two justice.

4.5 stars.

I was rather nervous about this book at first because there were a couple of scenes featuring the hero with another woman (before he's with the heroine) and I'm really not a fan of those even when it's not cheating, but they were ultimately relevant to the plot. Conrad and Gigi were explosive together and their chemistry fairly leapt off the page. I loved that Conrad felt things so very deeply, was fully aware of this trait, and didn't try to hide it from Gigi. He was ruthless and determined and had been betrayed or abandoned by nearly everyone in his life; it was impossible not to love him and root for his happiness with Gigi. She truly brought out the best in him and I loved seeing their communication develop as their relationship grew stronger. I also loved that they married rather unconventionally and were so determined to be together and so sure of one another. This wound up being a warm fuzzy book for me and I highlighted so many of Conrad's dialogues. I can't wait to see what's going on with James and Evie in the next book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is my 26th book by Grace Callaway and I have been reading her since 2016. Since about 2022 she only writes 1 or 2 books a year (which is sad) because she writes so damn good. She is on my "favorite authors" list. I know I don't say much in my reviews because I hate to give any hint away on anything so I just let you know that I think a book is good or not and if sex is hot or not. I don't read book descriptions anymore so have no idea what I'm reading about when I get into a book. I liked to be surprised in every step of the way.

I loved this book. I loved Gigi and Conrad. Sex was super hot and steamy. Their chemistry was off the chain. I loved the story and the characters. Grace gets such great depth in both. Conrad was written so intense. Gigi's personality was perfect for him. James and Evie are next up but can't wait for Owen's story. Adding to favorite reads list for May, 2025.

Debated between 3 and 4 stars. The H was a tad hoe-ish. After kissing the h, they don’t see each other for 3 months. During this time, the H has a fling with OW, the only reason they went separate ways was because the H caught OW snooping in his office. It bothered me that even though the H said he thought of his “nymph” (the h), he could still be with others. Mind you, the MCs did not have a relationship at this point but it was unnecessary to read about OW and sexual escapades.

This started off strong with a sexy meet cute between the two MC’s and then quickly turned. I hate when the MMC’s are intimate with other women after meeting the FMC. Why do authors keep doing this? How is that romantic? Grace Calloway is one of my favorites, and I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I honestly didn’t know if I could continue with it to be honest. I wish some of the reviews would have mentioned this as I would’ve avoided it.

I did push through. I really liked Gigi. She was strong, resourceful, and kind. I’ve never met a heroine written by Ms. Calloway that I haven’t liked. She held her own against Conrad. Their battle of wits was fun, but I felt that it was more about lust on Conrad’s part than love. While their chemistry was scorching, I couldn’t help but feel that Gigi loved him more than he did her. I definitely want to continue the series and am intrigued by James and Evie’s story.

Title: Two Secrets to Surrender
Author: Grace Callaway
Oh my stars and garters. Hot of the presses my fellow readers. Two Secrets to Surrender is has been claimed as a sizzling read. I’m here to tell you that Conrad Godwin has and will be a character that I will never forget. Always when a man can give as good as he can get— is and will be a man that I will always keep close to my treasure box.
If you know what I mean. Come on now ladies. This man moves through this book with so much grace and style. Let’s not forget how randy of a rake that he is. The wild and freaky things that Conrad was teaching Gigi had me blushing in all the right places.
And I was reading in the privacy of my own bedroom. Alright, let’s discuss the book before we reveal our female main character. The plot around Chudleigh Bottoms’s World Famous Roman Bath was entertaining. It certainly has its excitements. Letty, one of Gigi’s dearest friends owns this beautiful place.
Together the two opened a number of doors as to how the two ladies will survive the dark forces that’s come to haunt their village. Readers, you will love how the story is is actually being told in great detail that will stimulate your imagination. Not only are there troubles at the village spa, but someone has returned to town with revenge. Revenge that consumes their icy cold heart with one ambition.Murder.
What the heck?! I thought that this book was about hot springs water! I’ll leave this one for Bloody Thom to figure out. Well Gigi has decided to launch a new brand of water, but some how she fell into the little game called Eye Spy With My Little Eye with Conrad at the watering hole. As Gigi tried to ignore the advances of this Adonis of a man who appears through the pure clear curtains of the waterfall.
Somewhere in there scavenger hunting she finds him somewhat alluring. Dare she think it.Charming. Conrad finds himself attracted to to this little nymph that has cast a spell over him. Please don’t anticipate Gigi as one of those ball room debutants. You will like her character very much. She’s intelligent.
She takes charge at all of what she does. She speaks her mind. She’s an entrepreneur. Gigi is loyal to all her friends and she loves her family very very much. I love how the writer discussed certain topics that really pulls at your interest.
The topics are close to the plot. The plot collaborates well with the main characters and their objectives. These are just a few of the factors that has the reader believing all that’s happening in the book is so real. I say it again. That is called the brilliance of a talented writer.
I really found this book to be fun and and entertaining. This can be said for Conrad’s and Gigi’s relationship as well. Together the two will have you having all those feel good tingles of being in love.
Their steamy love affair might have you hyperventilating. Oh my gosh the part where Gigi and Conrad are leaning against the billiard table and he has her leg hiked in the air and he’s — strike gold that’s scrumdiddylymptious.
It was a wham bam thank you ma’am. That picture just brought it home for me. Well any way. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I give two gold snaps and a - Family. Can’t live with them. Can’t live without them. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

gigi has always loved the village of chudleigh bottoms—it represented a fresh start for her once-fractured family, a place where healing began. now, she’s determined to help her friend breathe life back into one of the oldest businesses in town: a historic bath spa. but trouble comes in the form of conrad, a dangerously handsome industrialist with plans of his own. from the start, gigi knows she must protect the spa, and the town, from whatever scheme he’s plotting—no matter how tempting he is.

conrad’s mission is simple: revenge. some of the people of chudleigh bottoms turned their backs on him and his mother, forcing them to survive in a cruel world. now wealthy and powerful, conrad returns to bring the village to its knees. the bath spa is only one piece of his plan—until gigi makes it complicated.

the story centers on gigi and conrad, two people with opposing goals who can’t help but clash—and spark—over the spa. as tensions rise, conrad begins to question his path of vengeance, even as secrets from his past threaten everything. he isn’t just a businessman, and as his hidden truths begin to unravel, heartbreak is inevitable.

gigi shines throughout the book with her warmth, loyalty, and fierce independence. she’s a woman with a big heart and a sharp mind, always pushing forward, especially when it comes to protecting her family and helping her friend’s business succeed. her love for the village—and her willingness to believe in second chances—make her a heroine worth rooting for.

two secrets to surrender is a quick, steamy read with just the right blend of passion, intrigue, and emotional depth. grace callaway delivers another compelling historical romance with heart, heat, and a heroine you won’t forget.

How the nymph tamed her satyr; he thinks he’s winning and puts up a decent fight, but she’s something else!

Gigi is a marquess’s daughter, her family’s baby, but their protectiveness is suffocating. Especially since neither of them is doing so well on their own, and so she organised a little scandal, fled the Season and nudged her middle brother into happily ever after. Now reviving his quaint village has become her new project.
Conrad is a man who, as a young boy, was cruelly cast-out time and time again by people who should have protected him and his mother. He ended up at boarding school – bullied, tortured and scarred for life. Fled, became a prizefighter and invested his winnings to become a ruthless businessman – all in the name of revenge.
They meet by accident, share an earthshattering kiss and part ways.
Their paths cross again when his plans are about to crush hers – and worst of all, she won’t back down!

He’s an obsessed, possessive, coarse brute – a conqueror. She’s anything but a meek lamb; clever, creative and caring – a healer. They spar at expert level, push right up to the I’m-going-to-strangle-you limit, and then scorching attraction obliterates all rational thought. Each and every time! Yes, a wickedly delicious case of ‘fight hard, lover harder’!
I absolutely adore this duo, their irrevocably entwined souls, their journey and the stark contrast between raw passion and heartrending healing tenderness. They see each other for who they are, and don’t beat around the bush – and that’s refreshing!
Add colourful nosy villagers, a curse, a dash of folklore, a titillating little book, foes to annihilate, a villainous mastermind, an omitted truth or two, and, of course, his hidden agenda – it will ruin everything, but nothing a near-death experience can’t fix 😉 – and you get absolutely unputdownable, thrilling, brilliant instant heat, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance!

3.75 The smut is smutting in this book. Oh my from the get go. Sometimes I skip over the sex not here, I reread a few scene I was that into it. Conrad is into a dirty book of a woman that teases a man, seducing him in many cat and mouse games and Gigi likes it. The greater story though... it felt a little lacking I didn't really like Gigi, she felt like a push over in someway. When she talks about how she brought her family back together, it reminded me how much I felt for her brother in the first book. Conrad, he was just typical. He was hurt one time in his youth by a woman (sounded like the only one he treated like an actual person) and used that as a reason to not trust women. And I had a lot of empathy for him about his childhood, but he used it to hurt Gigi. I wish he had been honest with her. I am rounding up to 4 cause of the smut I cannot lie.

I ended up not liking this as much as I thought I would. The book starts great. Gigi and Conrad have a steamy meet-cute that turns into a bit of an enemies-to-love vibe, but around the halfway mark, I began to get annoyed with the characters. Conrad’s desire for revenge overtook the story, and while he has every right to be angry at the people in his past who hurt him I didn’t like how he lied and manipulated Gigi to the point of being a straight up asshole. Meanwhile, Gigi puts up with his lies and outbursts, then blames herself for Conrad’s reaction. Maybe had their relationship not gone from barely knowing one another to being crazy in love overnight, I could have empathized with Gigi. Instead, I felt she should have made Conrad work harder to regain her trust.

Spirited debutante & only daughter of a Marquis Lady Gigi Harrington wants to help revive a fading business in the quaint and quirky village of Chudleigh Bottoms. The arrival of Conrad Godwin a wealthy and arrogant industrialist jeopardizes her plans. The pair lock horns, drawn together by scorching animosity and even hotter passion.
Another riveting page turner from the author, strong characters & a well paced story had me loathe to put it down. I loved both Conrad & Gigi, their chemistry sizzled, their banter was a delight & they locked horns at every turn. There’s secrets, conflict & steam. It ticked all the boxes for me & I highly recommend it

I really enjoy all of Callaway's books, but this one was truly exceptional. I loved the story and I absolutely loved the interactions between Conrad and Gigi. I loved how Conrad was both strong and vulnerable and Gigi completely understood it. The first book in the series was ok, but this was outstanding and I can't wait for the next installment featuring James and Evie.

Two Secrets to Surrender is the second installment in the Blackwood Legacy series. It’s not a requirement to read the first book to have a full understanding of this story. This is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE books by Grace Callaway. The book started out at a fast pace and did not let up. The writing style-superb 😙🤌
I mean what is a miss of noble birth to do when she is caught spying on a nude gentleman? Well…pretend to be what she isn’t. As this book shows secrets don’t stay hidden forever and the truth will come out. Lady Georgiana Harrington (Gigi) and Conrad Godwin are drawn to each from the moment they meet. Unfortunately they are on opposing sides where it concerns her friend’s business venture. The strength of Ms. Callaway’s writing is brought to the fore as Godwin’s motivations would usually be a turn off for me as initially he doesn’t seem to care about collateral damage. This doesn’t align with my beliefs. The author had me rooting for this man, yes at times I wanted to shake him but I just wanted their HEA. Gigi and Conrad were perfect for each other. She found a partner who wouldn’t stifle her. He found someone who would be loyal to him, which prior to Gigi, loyalty was in short supply in his life.

Callaway needs to teach a master class on the artful way of using spice without it taking over a story. She knows how to sprinkle it in to move the story forward. And of course it wouldn’t be a Grace Callaway book without a mystery to solve. The entire book was a delight, the villagers and the hint that star-crossed lovers from the past have their own story which is woven in. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 all the stars for this book.

Well this was absolutely delightful. Gigi is the daughter of a previous Callaway couple and the youngest in the family. She’s protected and cosseted and a bit spoiled but she hungers for more. Wealthy businessman Conrad Godwin has secrets and a deep desire for vengeance. His past is dark and full of scars, physical and emotional. I loved watching these two match wits while fighting and then giving into their attraction. Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Typically, I very much enjoy Grace Callaway but this book just didn’t work for me. I didn’t find Conrad’s three chapter redemption arc believable nor did he do remotely enough groveling.

Great addition to the Blackwood series filled with revenge, unexpected romance, a curse and the charming Chuddums. I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved Gigi. She is loyal, caring and wants to help the struggling village of Chuddums and its residents. Conrad Godwin is out for revenge. He is incredibly ruthless and won’t back down as he takes down the people that wronged him and his mother.

I never doubted Conrad loved Gigi but Conrad isn’t an easy character to fall in love with beginning to end. He had solid reasons for his revenge but he was willing to take down anyone associated with his enemies, even if they themselves are innocent. He did realize what was really important in the end but again, he had his reasons for his revenge and I can’t really blame him for all of his actions. They had a sizzling chemistry from the start and he does chill out a bit. I did like how the Harringtons didn’t accept Conrad right away as I think this is a bit more realistic that they had their doubts of Gigi and Conrad’s relationship. He had to apologize and grovel and that is what I hoped to see from the ending.

I love the setting of this charming village. I also love exploring more of the curse and history. Can’t wait for James and Evie’s story! Third couple to break the curse, perhaps??

This is rompy, small-town, enemies to lovers romance with romcom sensibilities— classic Grace Callaway shenanigans complete with a murder(ish) mystery.

Y'all know the "big bad businessman rolls into town to destroy local business(es)" premise, and Grace Callaway did a fantastic job of translating that into a historical: you got your *ruthless* industrialist, a spunky heroine, a charming small-town cast of characters, and some light enemies to lovers stuff that belies the fact that these two wanna fuck each other real bad from the start. Oh... and there is a local curse plaguing the town that's somehow connected to the prophetic slash flashback dreams our heroine has.

Gigi is the spirited youngest daughter of former hero and heroine, and current DILF and MILF Marcus and Pandora Blackwood. She loves a project and her latest is restoring the local spa to its former glory. So basically, Conrad Godwin is exactly her speed. He's biiiiig, blond, and willing to do almost anything to achieve his secretive ends, like buying out said spa to enact his revenge plot. He's the kind of hero a gal inevitably ends up going "but daddy I LOVE him!" about.

And Gigi ABSOLUTELY does! It plays into her wishing she wasn't so coddled as the baby sister of the family, especially when her family is kind of a mess right now and she desperately wants to fix them. I do appreciate that with Conrad however, her "I can fix him!" tendencies have their limits, and not only does she push back, but she knows when to leave and let HIM grovel.

The sex:

Listen, this book is all about a specific fantasy and that fantasy was BASICALLY informed by one dirty book Conrad read as a teenager about a nymph and a satyr so.... of course their meet-cute is appropriately... woodsy. Of course there's a read-aloud while he Does Stuff to her. Of course he calls her "little nymph" and OF COURSE there's some chasing... eventually.

You get the standard variety of sex acts for a Grace Callaway book (meaning a GOOD variety), with the added bonus of light butt stuff.

Overall:

This is just such a FUN book— humorous, sexy because of the push and pull between Gigi and Conrad and their easy chemistry even as they lock horns, and you'll definitely be intrigued by the upcoming second chance romance between Gigi's eldest brother and his kinda-estranged wife— I know I am!

Thank you to Grace Callaway and her team for the advanced copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment of the spinoff series of Marcus and Penny's story from the book "The Lady Who Came in from the Cold" ("Hearts of Enquiry" series)! This time it is about their youngest child, daughter Gigi who wants to help her friend preserve her family legacy and turn it into a thriving business, saving the village from ruin. Her adversary is ruthless Conrad Godwin, who wants to buy the Roman bath out of revenge and destroy Chuddums.
The captivating plot is very well written, fast-paced, has enemies to lovers, opposites attract, hidden identity, broken hero, tragic past and revenge tropes, unexpected twists and turns and the author’s signature blend of emotion, humor, suspense, action, danger, dirty talk and spicy love scenes.
The tragic ghost/curse legend from the first part also plays a role in this instalment.
I loved the main characters, their verbal sparring, witty banter and the crackling chemistry between them. Conrad is a jaded morally gray alpha hero with a painful past and secrets, and Gigi is a determined, kindhearted heroine who values loyalty and honesty above all else. It goes without saying that tensions between them are inevitable. It was also nice to meet the other Blackwood family members again who have a heartwarming, loving bond.

Vivacious Lady Georgiana "Gigi" Harrington enjoys her life on her brother's new country estate in Chuddums and the solidarity of the villagers. With her wit and ingenuity, she helps her friend Miss Letty renovate her grandfather's old Roman bath and attract customers, revitalising the run-down village, which still suffers from the curse and consequences of the tyranny of a former gang of thieves.
Former prizefighter and ruthless self-made businessman Conrad Godwin, living under a false identity, has been plotting revenge for years against the people responsible for the torment and trauma of his childhood. One of them lives in Chuddums and he is determined to destroy the village.
But he hasn't reckoned with the feisty, determined Gigi, to whom he is attracted from the very first moment and who is a force to be reckoned with...

If you like engaging enemies to lovers romance novels with strong heroines, morally gray heroes that are filled with a good dose of humor, emotion, spice, suspense and unexpected twists, this book is for you!

I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

This story is a captivating enemies-to-lovers historical romance set in the quirky village of Chudleigh Bottoms. Lady Gigi Harrington, determined to save her village and prove her worth beyond being a pretty debutante, finds her efforts challenged by the arrogant industrialist Conrad Godwin. With a hidden agenda and a complicated past, Conrad is initially deterred by Gigi’s spirited nature. Their animosity soon evolves into a passionate romance filled with tension and chemistry, but dark vendettas threaten their budding love. As they navigate family challenges and village secrets, their relationship becomes both tumultuous and intensely sensual. Readers can expect steamy encounters and a storyline rich with intrigue, culminating in the exploration of an ancient prophecy that could change everything.

Yes! Yes! Yes! to the amazing spicy scenes in this book! I love that it is inspired by an erotic book that Conrad got a hold of as a young man. It fuels his fantasies and makes him a creative lover (whew!). This book is such a fun blend of humor, chemistry, and character dynamics. Gigi and Conrad's witty banter and undeniable attraction create an engaging push-pull dynamic that keeps readers invested. The quirky village setting, intertwined with elements of mystery and a supernatural curse, adds depth and excitement. It's the mystery that keeps the story going and you will not be able to put it down! The novel promises scandalous heat, emotional moments, and an enchanting journey toward love, making it a must-read for fans of the historical romance genre. With its well-crafted plot twists and engaging side characters, this installment in the Blackwood Legacy series will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the series. The third book is teased at the end and I am here for it! This book just came out today! Get a copy. You will not be able to put it down and be prepared to swoon.

At this point, Grace Callaway can do no wrong in my eyes. Her pen stays elite. Every time I open one of her books, I already know I’m about to be fed, and Two Secrets to Surrender might just be one of my favorites yet. This story pulled me in quick and had me fully caught up in Gigi and Conrad’s world from the very first chapter.

Gigi is bold, brilliant, and never backs down. She walks into every scene like she owns it... and baaaaybeee? She does. Conrad is all grit and guarded stares, but once Gigi enters the picture, it’s a wrap. Their dynamic is sharp, emotional, and built on so much tension, I was damn near holding my breath.

The chemistry between them is undeniable. Every glance, every argument, every shift in the air…it all lands. And when they finally stop resisting? That moment is everything.

Shout out to Chudleigh Bottoms for being its own little chaotic vibe. Between the secrets, shady prophecies, and village gossip, it gave just the right amount of mystery and personality to keep things fresh without pulling focus from the romance. Gigi’s love for the town and her mission to bring it back to life added a beautiful layer of hope and purpose, and made me love her even more.
And Conrad? That man rolled into town with a whole agenda and a plan to shut things down out of spite, but he didn’t count on Gigi. Didn’t expect her to challenge him. To change the way he sees himself. His mission might’ve been revenge, but what he found was something he didn’t know he needed... redemption, healing, and a love worth rethinking everything for.

Grace delivered a romance with depth, passion, and so much feeling. From enemies to lovers to something deeper, Gigi and Conrad’s story hit every note. And the writing? Impeccable. Emotional without being overdone. Steamy without losing the soul.

Let me say it louder for the people in the back: this is a must-read. Add it to the list, move it to the top, and thank me later.

I love that we’re getting deeper into the Blackwood family saga. Pandora (Penny) and Marcus’s story wasn’t always my favorite, though still a lovely tale, but seeing their children find love feels like an extension of their HEA, and that’s been such a treat.

Now for Gigi and Conrad, what a pairing. I thought it was such a clever touch that Gigi ends up in a relationship where secrets are in play, given that she was the rainbow baby born after Penny’s big reveal. Callaway knows how to weave those family echoes in.

The pacing started off a little slow for me, but it didn’t take long to kick into high gear. What I really appreciated was how refreshingly honest the characters were. No silly misunderstandings dragging things out, just transparency, bold feelings, and chemistry that makes you grin. Gigi is adventurous, fierce in her love, and unapologetically herself. Conrad, meanwhile, looks like the ultimate hard-edged hero on the outside, but inside? Gentleman through and through. His hardships were written with so much depth that as a reader, I couldn’t help but crave revenge and justice for him…but ultimately, it was love that brought him true fulfillment.

And then there’s the village. Omg. The strength of community and the way everyone came together in this story—it felt like its own love story. Callaway is so skilled at building a universe that makes you want to step inside and be part of it, where community itself is a force of healing and passion.

This story has it all: passion, adventure, a surprising plot twist (yes, I was actually surprised!), and the perfect setup for what’s to come. I’m already itching to see what’s going on between James and Evie…marriage in distress, will history repeat itself? And how Owen will be saved from himself.

If you’re a Grace Callaway fan, this one’s a must. And if you’re new to her books, this is a wonderful place to fall in love with her storytelling

We have Lady Georgiana Flora Aileen Harrington—“Gigi” who is the youngest and only daughter but has always known her own mind and heart! She is more mature than most ladies her age and she has the full support of her parents to find a love match!
We also have a hero/villain who has been battered, bruised and beaten but still maintains a small shred of humanity!
Conrad Godwin aka secret identity is a rake through and through but everyone he has ever cared about left him! The women didn’t want him or used him so he is ruthless in business as well as relationships! He absolutely expects the worst! He is vulnerable but tries his best to hide it so it is somewhat difficult to see at first!
These two have secrets but Conrad more than others and several attempts on his life one of which is thwarted by Gigi and this of course brings them closer! Their chemistry is explosive like fire and gasoline but their trust is very slow going! It is understandable after Conrad begins to open up!
But can a man who has never really known love and Gigi who is surrounded by it ever have a HEA!
Gigi is starting to share memories of the star crossed lovers of Chudleigh Bottoms! This a different season could these two possibly be the second couple?
Miss Letecia Caldecott and good friend to Gigi has worked diligently to revive the spa in Chudleigh Bottoms! Gigi and Conrad have a very steamy scene there but it didn’t end the way I thought it would!? This whole story is a page turner with one thing after another so riveting you don’t know what’s next! But you know it will be good!
Can’t wait to read the next one and Chudleigh Bottoms is a place you want to visit or just laugh at its antics! Bravo well done!

Lady Gigi Harrington has a plan to reinvigorate her struggling village and prove she's more than just a pretty debutante. But businessman Conrad Godwin has an agenda of his own and soon the two find themselves locking horns...and lips.

This is the second book in the Blackwood Legacy series. The book can stand alone, although Gigi's brother is the hero of book one and their town's history was previously introduced. This is also a second generation series, as the Harrington parents were the featured couple in The Lady Who Came in From the Cold (Heart of Enquiry, book three).

At first, I was worried that there was a lot going on with this tale: a hero with a shady identity, multiple vendettas, and a village that might be cursed. But Callaway manages to weave it all together and make the reader care about these characters. Some of Conrad's past got a little muddy for me...I wasn't sure if I overlooked something or there was just a lot of people that "did him dirty." I was frustrated with his actions in the second half, but that's why I'd lean him into villainous hero territory. He puts his pain and vengeance first and has to redeem himself. As always, Calloway's high heat level gets two thumbs up! 4.5 stars rounded to 5.

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Revenge, Anti-Hero/Villainous Hero

I have been loving this second generation historical romance series! Two Secrets to Surrender was such a fun read!

Lady Gigi and Conrad have a really fun meet cute before realizing they have competing interests regarding a local bath house. Gigi wants to revitalize and bring tourists to the adorable town whereas Conrad is out for revenge and wants to destroy it.

Revenge is one of my favorite tropes! Conrad had a very tragic backstory and it was very hard for him to believe that Gigi would really be there for him. It really pulled at my heartstrings to see Conrad struggle over whether he should continue to pursue his revenge or choose love and support Lady Gigi.

I also loved the parallels between Gigi and Conrad to the myth that they found about the nymph and the satyr. There was so much tension between these characters and there is a scene on a billiards table that will definitely live rent free in my brain.

I also loved that Gigi’s parents from The Lady Who Came in From the Cold (and kept coming hehehe) had a prominent role in the story. I loved their book and it’s always so fun when characters from previous series appear.

Two Secrets to Surrender is the second book in the Blackwood Legacy series, and I can’t wait to see who will be next! I am especially excited for Owen’s book. I feel like it will bring all the angst as well as the heat!

I loved reading this second book in the Blackwood Legacy series. It had adventure, mystery, tension and surprises. It also had wonderful spicy scenes, a fantastic storyline and wonderful characters.

Lady Gigi Harrington is the only daughter of a marquess with three older, protective brothers and loving parents. She loves the village she lives in; Chuddleigh Bottoms and considers many of the villagers her friends. Gigi desperately wants her opinions and suggestions to be acknowledged and considered by her overprotective but loving family. She’s no shrinking violet and will fight for what she believes in.

Conrad Goodwin is a self made man who has dark secrets and is hell bent on revenge on those who ruined his childhood and to reclaim his rightful legacy. The ruination of Chuddley Bottoms is on the top of his revenge list. He desperately wants to make personal connections with people who want to understand him but is also closed down to trusting others. Everyone he has interacted personally with in his life has either let him down or hurt him.

When Gigi and Conrad have a chance encounter, the attraction between them is evident. She thinks he’s a gorgeous Viking and he thinks she’s a beautiful nymph. When they are formally introduced, Gigi decides she doesn’t like Conrad’s business acumen but she likes him. There’s plenty of smoking hot scenes interspersed in the plot along with attempted murder, family problems, shocking allegations, trying to end the curse of Chuddley Bottoms and reading of Conrad and Gigi falling in love. In the end Conrad will have to decide between revenge and love. There’s also plenty of surprises that I didn’t see coming. There was so much that happened in this story but it never felt rushed and flowed seamlessly. It was a great read that had me engaged and entertained from the first page to the last.

I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series of James and Evie.

Two Secrets to Surrender is the second of Grace Callaway’s latest series ‘The Blackwood Legacy’ which follows the children of Penny and Marcus from ‘The Lady Who Came in from the Cold’. I’m loving that Grace is giving us stories about the offspring of beloved characters in her latest series.
Book two follows Lady Georgina ‘Gigi’ Harrington, youngest of the siblings as she tries to help her friend revive her Spa business in the quirky village of Chudleigh Bottoms. Her plans are put into jeopardy when ruthless industrialist Conrad Godwin turns up determined to buy the spa. Gigi knows that Conrad cannot have good intentions at heart but the more they butt heads, the more she starts to see beneath the hard exterior to the vulnerable man beneath. Can Gigi trust that Conrad will do the right thing, or will his secrets be too much for her to bear?
Any release by Grace Callaway is an event for me and as usual this was an all-nighter. I simply could not put it down. The story is fast paced with twists and turns, keeping the reader entertained and guessing and the revelation of the ultimate villain was unexpected.
I loved Gigi. She is vivacious, lovely, kind, generous of heart and for want of a better word sensible. No silly histrionics for her (although being the child of Marcus and Penny, she was bound to be grounded). When Conrad issued his first confession, although she was blindsided, she did support him and understand his motives. His second revelation hit harder and although she did walk away the misunderstanding was not drawn out and she was willing to listen and see his point of view. Being the only daughter and the youngest sibling, she has been protected all her life and feels as though she is wrapped in cotton wool. To make herself feel useful she does all she can to help others in practical way although she did have her small rebellions. I did love that about her.
Conrad is a complicated man. He has had to make his own way in the world despite the atrocities committed against him all his young life. He started off full of vengeance, but his plans started to unravel almost the first moment that he met Gigi. He is essentially a very lonely man and when he recognises his connection with Gigi, he focuses completely on their bond and demands complete loyalty. He did not change his viewpoint immediately and assumed that he could stick on his path and keep Gigi’s love, but I loved that he fell first and hard for Gigi. He would do anything for her. He reminded me very much of Gavin Hunt from Her Wanton Wager.
The story flows well and I loved the banter between Gigi and Conrad. I’m loving the world that Grace has built in Chudleigh Bottoms with its quirky villagers. The legend of the curse and the mystery of Thom and Rosa is fleshed out a little more in this instalment. I am on tenterhooks to find out what the truth could be. It’s so clever of Grace to tease us with a little more information in each couple’s story – every time I think I have figured it out there is another twist. James and Evie’s story is next, and I can’t wait. I received an advanced review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
