Elysian Chronicles #1

A Prophecy Forgotten

Rate this book
The ancient forgotten prophecy of the Runes is about to be fulfilled; a child will be born to save the world. But his cherubian protector must keep him alive against the threat of a cherubian conspiracy and that of their evil nemesis, the malevolent hordes of the mornachts, who are eager to harden his spirit and possess him. It's up to Major Davian and his unit of elite warriors to foil the conspiracy and prepare for war with the mornachts- the third great Battle for the City of Ezzer. For seven-year-old Tommy, he's just trying to survive the second grade, persecution from bullies, and the strain of his parent's divorce. He has no idea he could be the chosen one, or of the spiritual forces at work surrounding him. "M. B. Weston captures the hearts of the reader with her wonderfully crafted world of Elysia with deep imagery, rich characters, and great emotion. A must read for all fantasy fans. Think City of Angels meets Lord of the Rings meets Terminator 2 and you have a small taste of this new reality. Can't wait to see it on the big screen!" Stephen J. Burton, Director/Screenwriter "Inspirational fantasy at its best. Filled with heart-wrenching drama, humor, and breathtaking adventure, which makes for a page-turning saga that will sweep you off to the mystical Elysian City of Ezzer, in Heaven's Realm, where good and evil fight to the death." Robert Gelinas, Author of The Mustard Seed "M. B. Weston has created a fantastical realm that bridges seamlessly into today's world with a powerful yet hopeful, warning message. C. S. Lewis would be proud!" Sandy Lender, Author of Choices Meant for Gods

I love the plot twist in the end! never would have guessed it was Erik. I'm so happy that Tommy got to live with his dad. I wish there was more of Gabriella and Davian. they need to get together and have a garden together. I love the story, can't wait to read the next one

When I first found out A Prophecy Forgotten was about angels protecting a seven-year old boy, I was mildly skeptical about it. Visions of harps, halos, and fat, little rosy-cheeked babies with white wings flashed through my mind.
Boy… was I wrong…
Heaven’s Realm was under attack by creatures straight from one of Tolkien’s worst nightmares! But, take heart! These cherubs have traded their harps and halos for swords and shields. And they aren’t adorable infants wearing oversized helmets either… they’re muscle-bound Navy SEAL’s with wings!
However, this is not to say that they don’t have big hearts. More than once, I smiled at Tommy O’Connor’s boyishness and his childish love of the world. M.B. Weston strikes a rare medium as she creates both a heart-warming tale and an action-adventure full of espionage and betrayal. And, yet, somehow it felt reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings.

This is one of the most interesting combinations of fantasy and angels that I have ever read. The characters are great and I love Davian. I gave this four stars just because I feel like the book took a little while to really get going and for me to really sink into the story, but once I was involved I had trouble putting the book down because I had to know what was going to happen next.
There's mystery, chaos, betrayal, some amazing fight scenes, and really stand out characters in this book, and it's setting everything up for a truly epic saga that I look forward to continuing.

As swift a read as the angelic military officers portrayed in its pages, A Prophecy Forgotten is an action-packed, smartly-written fantasy story about what happens when contentious factions of guardian angels clash over one particularly terrifying human charge. M.B. Weston's debut novel in the Elysian Chronicles is a strong introduction to her particular twist on the classic angels vs. demons paradigm.

Very good story. I was really excited about this book. I found it when I met the publisher and author at Mid South con a few months ago and I really liked them and they way they talked about it. "Roman Legions with wings" was the was the way they described it, and it's true. It's a new spin on guardian angels and I loved it. It's exciting and introduces a new mythology while still being true to the one you already know.

I'm very impressed and can't wait for the sequel.

This is a great book. Weston is a master story-teller. Within the first few pages of this book, I felt like I had been a part of this world forever. I love the characters, and am excited to find out what happens to them in the next book. Although at first glance this book is about angels and demons, the world Weston created, and the races of characters are unique. This is not a trite retelling of an old saga. This is a fresh, new world.

I know this book was written a few years ago, but with Putin and Isis rising, it is almost prophetic in itself.

However, this is a much different take on guardian angels and the opposing demons than I've ever read before and I liked it a lot! I just reread it again, and now that I'm using Goodreads, I wanted to make sure I gave it the report it deserved!

I like to admit my bias up front, so let me say that the author is a friend of mine. Despite that when I tell you this is a book worth reading I mean it. The relationships are engaging, the action exciting, and the climax captivating.
