Parisi Family #5

Forgotten Comeback

Rate this book
Men fall first. Women come first. Welcome to the family.

Taylor

Steady job. New girlfriend. Healthy boxing routine. My life’s back on track, that is, until one bad decision has me clinching with Ace’s Wild Boxing Club’s biggest player. Now, my carefully constructed facade has been KO’ed by a walking red flag of a man named Gavin Webb. Extorted into becoming a bare-knuckles boxing ring girl, I’d rather take a DQ than admit a part of me craves the chaos. But when I find myself on the wrong side of the Parisi Family, I have to decide whether this is a fight worth going the distance.

Gavin

Train halfheartedly. Take dives. The long game. It’s what I’ve been playing for years, until a fiery redhead gets inside my head. Taylor McKenna isn’t my type. She’s bossy, curvy, and has a bad attitude for days. Not to mention she keeps screwing up my plans to get information about my family’s enemy: the Parisis. Now, instead of the long game, I’m getting distracted playing a twisted game with this woman. And soon, I realize I never want this game with Taylor to end.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when the Parisi family we try to deceive.

If there’s only one book you can read this weekend, make it Andrea Hagan’s Forgotten Comeback. Or at least download it to cue it up for when you do. It’s a must-read. You won’t regret it.

Readers will be locked in when they discover that Gavin and Taylor go after the same girl, and the remedy is an MFF scene. However, it evolves into bouts of jealousy, competition, and confusion for them. I was cracking up at this scene because of the arguing Taylor and Gavin were having during the threesome.

But Forgotten Comeback is not all lighthearted fun. There are some deep, sensitive topics within the plot. I loved the openness of how mental health was addressed, from weight gain due to meds to manic episodes and therapy sessions. The journaling questions were real: Why do emotionally unavailable partners appeal to me? Why is it scary to let someone love me? All of this is part of a mafia and bare-knuckle fighting story full of excitement, action, and spice.

Speaking of spice, I’m not big on nicknames in books, but when he calls her “maneater,” it’s perfect because it fits especially during those spice scenes.

Thank you to Author Andrea Hagan for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So, here’s the deal. Gavin was the bad guy in Forgotten Deal. Right? I mean, we saw it all happen from Taylor’s best friend’s (Katerina Stefanos’) point of view and he’s evil, right?

Well, what I love about a change in perspective is how the same story can be told so cleverly that you end up questioning what you thought you saw. And Andrea Hagan masterfully shows us what was really going on with Taylor McKenna and Gavin Webb while all that Parisi drama was happening in the first four books. Sure, each book is a standalone focusing on separate couples, but I would recommend that you read the series in sequence to appreciate how brilliant Hagan’s mind is at weaving all of it together.

“𝘎𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘨.”
“𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘳𝘦𝘥’𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳.”

Gavin Webb is a part-time trainer at Ace’s Wild, part-time bartender at underground raves, and full-time co-conspirator of the mysterious John Davis. Taylor McKenna knows that she should be staying far, far away from his slick womanizing ways. Taylor has had her own share of personal health challenges that even her BFF, Kat, doesn’t know about. But while Taylor is trying to keep busy with work and chasing her girl-crush, Gavin keeps getting in her way, literally.

Soon, we find out that there’s more to Gavin than his fuckboy charm and he grows on us, and on Taylor. It’s really cute to witness. No one, I mean NO ONE, writes witty banter better than Ms. Hagan.

It turns out that a love of verbal pugilism isn’t all that Gavin and Taylor have in common. Both have had past issues with the intangible balance between mind and body, resulting in an unexpected protectiveness of one another. Beneath the cheeky surface lies a deep well of emotion. These characters are more than what they seem.

I would almost say that I found Gavin and Taylor to be so fun, sexy, and empathetic that they are my new favourite couple, but that would risk scary Romeo and his badass girlfriend Nicky coming after me. I’ll just lay low and watch from behind the window curtains if you all don’t mind.

I really love how we get a new piece of the bigger puzzle that is the Parisi family. With each book in the series we get a few steps closer to the whole picture that is unfolding.

I enjoyed the story of Gavin and Taylor, though they don’t exactly start out as friends or love interests. They’re both fun and sassy, and because of it we get plenty of banter. Both characters have quite the backstory, which forms them into the people they are now.

The story reads pretty smoothly. Add some danger, betrayals, and spice to the mix, and you got yourselves quite the page turner. Can’t wait for the next book in the series! 💜

Forgotten Comeback is book five in the Parisi Family series, written by Andrea Hagan. I absolutely love Hagan’s writing style. It’s like crack to me. I can’t get enough! I have been following the Parisi series since book one, and I am wholly invested.

This book features some new characters - kinda! In Forgotten Comeback, we join Taylor and Gavin, along with his brothers. Taylor has a steady job and a new girlfriend, Mia. Her life seems to be on track until Gavin Webb enters the picture. Sharing her girlfriend with Gavin during a heated session was a huge mistake. Now she can’t get the fu
Gavin, a bare-knuckle boxer, is the ultimate playboy. Attractive with a sharp edge. He had one job: to get info from Mia and move on. He never expected this fiery, curvy red head with resting b!tch face to invade his every thought to the dismay of his brothers. When it comes to light that Taylor is friends with Kat, it throws a bigger wrench into his plans.

I love the push and pull between Gavin and Taylor. Their back-and-forth snarky comments had me rolling with laughter. The tension was fantastic and the spice was delicious! I loved seeing the storyline from this perspective. It made things much clearer and raised the stakes even higher. I loved the mental health representation. I know I’ve said it before, but this book is my favorite in the series!

Thanks to Andrea Hagan for gifting me an eARC of Forgotten Comeback. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own

this couple's back and forth was absolutely hilarious, they're both quick-witted and go toe to toe every time. i loved the running jokes. after their secrets are out on the table, their communication is wide open and i'm here for it! gavin is incredibly protective, which is super hot. his acceptance and patience made my heart melt. taylor is just trying to live life but life got hands. it's cute when she 'reluctantly' helps him after his match. her growth is beautiful and i wish i could commission her for an art piece.

i haven't read too many mafia romance books so i don't know if this is a regular occurrence but giving the antagonists love interests was really fun, i was blindsided by how much i ended up caring about gavin and his brothers. i found myself hoping inferno's book was next and i'm so happy it is! looking forward to 'forgotten games' ♡

I am in love with Gavin! There, I said it. I also loved the banter between Gavin and Taylor throughout the whole book. Forgotten Comeback has a mafia element, but I enjoyed that it was not the majority of the storyline. Gavin is a bare-knuckle boxer and F-ckboy until Taylor, the fiery redhead, worms her way into Gavin’s thoughts and heart. Once again, I felt that this is my new favourite book in the series. After reading the teaser at the end of Forgotten Comeback, I cannot wait for the next book. I am giving a rating of 4.5 / 5 stars.

Another all-consuming read in the Parisi series! Gavin and Taylor are a VIBE.
Taylor tries to avoid “playboy” Gavin at all costs, but he seems to be everywhere she goes. Out with her friend, at the gym..
She can refuse her feelings and chemistry all she wants, but he is going NOWHERE.
The banter between these two is TOP TIER. I was laughing throughout the entire book.
This story addresses mental health issues with insight, sensitivity, and compassion. I thought the topic was represented very well.
The way Taylor finally gave in to Gavin’s persistence was oh so satisfying. These two create flames together, and I loved every second!

This book was an amazing read that took me away from my everyday reality to another in which I could relax and forget about my everyday worries. It moves along at a pace that makes for an enjoyable read and at a speed that is perfect for the flow of the story. These characters, you feel like you know them and you cannot help but love them even if you want to hate them. this book has to be at the top of your TR list, you will not be sorry.

An Absolute Must Read

I absolutely love this author and this whole series. Once you start reading you can't put it down as you get sucked into the story and this one was no different. Gavin and Taylor are made for each other just don't know it in the beginning. I love how their story came together in a way that made perfect sense to who they are as people. I hated when it ended as always as it left me wanting more.

Gavin and Taylor are one couple that I cheered for from the start of this book. Glad it did not include a female in the final dynamic.

These two will make you feel frustrated, happy, and sad as you dive into their story. So much to unpack.

The two leads have quite the explosive match as both didn't want to be tied to the other but both just keep getting drawn into each other's lives. I like the strong characters that also seem to bend when needed. And i love the dialogues. They added a fun element that keeps you on your toes and also a laughter in your belly! Like all of Andrea Hagan's books, there is a dark element to it. But it's not too overwhelming as to cause trauma! Another great addition to the series. I love the Parisi family!

I have loved every book in this series and this one didn't disappoint. We have finally hit the part of the series where we are getting the other side of the story. I was wondering that there was no way I could care for these characters with all that happened in the other books but dang it if Andrea didn't make me fall and feel so much for the "enemy" side just as much and all her other characters. This starts out steamy and just keeps upping the heat. Oh and the back and forth teasing it top tier. I can't wait for the next more and more characters to fall for.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the amazing author for sharing an ARC of this book with me !!

“Hate to see you go, but still love to watch you walk away, man-eater”

“She doesn’t have time for obsessed fuck boys, I don’t have time for fiery redheads, but here we are”

Parisi Family series book 5 here we come!!! I had been waiting for this like never before and this only indicates how obsessed I am with this entire series !!! And I was right to be excited !! I loved it !!! The thing about this series is that, the more you read, the more involved in the craziness you are. And there’s no way out. Gavin and Taylor’s story started in a very complicated “I definitely hate your guts” kind of situation. But the truth is: that’s exactly the only way it could have ever started. They reminded me a lot of Kat and Fabio and it completely makes sense (iykyk) but I had even more fun if possible because their banter was bantering so hard !!! The spiciness was there and it touched a whole different level, as it usually happens with the Parisi family. But the way it got involved in the plot of all the other books and the way some of the background stories were explained finally gave sense to all the question we have been asking !!! And I still need more !!!

“Got a taste of bloodlust, and you liked it, huh, man-eater?”

“Are we even capable of making love?”
“You’re gasoline, and I’m the damn match”

I love this series so much! Every book seems to get better and better and I love finding out more bits and pieces of the series arc! And of course I love the couples, and seeing them again in the books after their own books. As a reader who’s not very familiar with the mafia genre, I find these books exciting and easy to follow with the exact right amount of mystery and intrigue. Easy 5 stars.
