Dangerous Protector is Milly Taiden's second book in her Federal Paranormal Unit series. Each book can be read as a stand alone book.
In Dangerous Protector, James Brock is the head of the Federal Paranormal Unit. He focuses on his job and his teammates since the love of his life left him ten years ago. James runs into his love Cynthia Vega during a case and turns out she is now his new boss. An interesting plot ensues with some mystery, intrigue, and some hot hot hot bedroom scenes. I really don't want to spoil the story but wow Milly can write some awesome bedroom scenes!!!
I had a love/hate relationship with Cynthia Vega. The plot was intriguing and it was interesting trying to figure out why Cynthia left James high and dry all those years ago. And then once the reason was revealed I was like seriously...hmmm...I can kind of understand but not really cause James is hot but hey she was young and foolish...and she did eventually make her way back to him...but still...maybe some couples counseling is in order.
Highly recommend this story and I definitely recommend reading Wolf Protector too!!!

By now I think its obvious I am a fan of Milly Taiden, but that doesnt change the fact that Dangerous Protector Federal Paranormal Unit Book 2 is amazing. ITs fast paced, intiguing, HOT, and did I say HOT!
James Brock is the head of the FPU, until Cyn Vega is brought in to be his boss. On top of that they used to be a couple and Cyn bolted after James proprosed. For Brock seeing Cyn again was a shock but his mate was back. James is a different type of creature and its amazing! Cyn has special powers of her own and a missing cousin. They team up to search for her.
James Brock feels very passionate about lots of things and Cyn is one of them. Sit back and watch the fireworks as he rocks her world and convinces her to stay.
I loved the hints we got about Jane, I am very eager to get her and Tony Ramirez relationship. I missed Trent and Erica but a honeymoon they must take lol.

Oh wow, I could not stop reading. This was an awesome amazing read.
It moved along at an amazing pace from beginning to end, never a dull moment. The characters are awesome and you cannot help but fall in love with them no matter what, and the story, was amazing, I could say so much about it, but I do not want to ruin this book to others by giving anything away, and that is what will happen if I start to rave about it. I will tell you this though, this is a must read for 2014 and you will not be disappointed.
Milly Taiden is an amazing author and you definitely need to experience her books.

OMG ... Brock is one POWERFUL protector
This is book #2 in the Federal Paranormal Unit series. Be sure to read Wolf Protector first to meet the team and read Erica and Trent's story.
The team is on to their next case. This one hits very close to home! The hero and heroine have a very strong history and are drawn to each other, but trying to keep the lines professional. The sexual tension is extremely high and unlike many Milly books, we have to wait quite a while for the lines to be crossed ;) But this isn't just about the sex scenes. This is a mystery... think Intelligence meets The Originals. There is a boss the team can't stand. There are bumbling idiots. There is a missing girl out there. The visions and nightmares about what may have happened keep you second guessing up to the end! And now a bit about the story...
Brock has just lead Galvez to another missing child. Luckily they found her in time and she was still alive! But when the agent who recovered the girl comes running out of the burning house he can't believe it - it is her! She had left him and now here she was back in his life! Cynthia Vega in the flesh. They both tried to ignore the other, until another case brought them together again. Cynthia's niece is missing and the local police aren't investigating. Come visit the small town of Holy Oaks and see what happens next. Trust me, Milly will not give you any mercy. ;)

Wow had some very interesting twists and some interesting facts were revealed.
Brock was scorching, he kept making me wish i was his :) and love him using his skills in and out of the bedroom.
Cynthia was interesting character to learn about and her history.
The tention was high, the sex scenes scorching, secrets revealed, supense and i can't wait for the next book and to see where things go next

Oh wow!!! Brock and Cyn story was AWESOME
This book has it all. Once I started couldn't put it down. Brock with his special abilities, lost love, work, a mystery, and family perfect read. Add hot steamy scenes it's the perfect 5 star book.
Milly is a must read author. Wolf protector was great this is amazing can't wait for the next book in this series.

Dangerous Protector was well written with its integrated moments of sexiness and intensity. Taiden truly thrusts the reader on a roller-coaster ride of emotions as we follow Cyn and Brock on their journey to finding a second chance at love.
Cyn and Brock were college sweethearts and destined mates. Brock even proposed and Cyn happily accepted. But, she learns a secret about her family that forces her to give up the one man she loves. Both Cyn and Brock are left broken and incomplete and they can only hope to live a half life without the other. But, merciful fate steps in and pairs the couple together again. Only this time, Cyn is Brock's boss. Oh man...those made for some rather intense engagements. But, the undercurrent of passion during them was smoking hot. A family emergency takes Cyn back to her family home and there she learns even more secrets about her family. Secrets that could end up killing her...or saving her life.
Earlier I mentioned that Dangerous Protector was well written. Well, with that I meant several things. Yes, it contained a solid story and multi-dimensional characters with an interesting backstory. However, the thing that I loved about the story was the subterfuge and red-herrings that Taiden threw in along the way. Like what you ask? The situation with Galvez and Clara. Blew. My. Mind. I totally was not expecting what happened to play out like it did but I loved every minute of it. Even though it totally screwed with my nerves. :)
I would highly recommend this story and this series to any lover of solidly written paranormal romance with smart heroines and alpha, alpha males.

This book is so hot I could not put it down the chemistry between Brock And Cynthia burned the pages. Brock was wondering why she left him 10 years ago but she did not want to tell him the truth. Brock was so determine to make her understand she was his mate and that he loved her. The animal inside him was always at the surface want to come out and show her who she belong to. When she came back, in to his life he did not know she was his boss of the special unit. I would recommend this well written, great book to anyone who likes hot paranormal romance with strong characters that will keep you looking for more. Author Milly Taiden did a wonderful job with this book she pulls you in with her hot and sexy leading men plus the great story lines to go with them. This book is a must have along with her other books is a must read.

This is the second book in the series that goes with Wolf Protector so make sure you grab that one first, and it was truly awesome. Milly keeps you intrigued from the beginning to the end. It has everything a book should have to make it awesome. Love, hate, sex. I could not put this book down. this is one series that I will continue to read while she keeps adding to it. The connection between Brock and Cynthia is Awesome and the love between the two is spectacular. I won't ruin the book for you but you also need to read Wolf Protector..Then you will be as hooked as I am. It is fast paced and keeps you locked in excitement mode. Give it a try you won't regret it!!!

Hot damn!!! This is one hot as hell story. The plot is intriguing, the characters amazing, the writing superb as usual.
Brock is the leader for the FPU (Federal Paranormal Unit) he and his team all have special abilities. Enter Cynthia his lost love and the new leader of the unit.
Cynthia has a family emergency arise and Brock rushes to help her out. Along the way old questions resurface as does their inability to stay away from each other.
Awesome story, loved the storyline! Left me guessing on who was involved and what was going on. I was clueless for sure until it was revealed. The plot was full and rich. Brock, Cyn, Ramirez and Jane were once again able to fill this story with lots of laughter, and lots of HOT HOT scenes.
We finally find out what Brock is and more about his abilities. He is one bad ass agent!

Dangerous Protector! Yes, it's a totally hot book with a hot guy and hot girl, but what I found interesting in this book was the way characters fed off each other mentally. There was a great plot with mystery that kept it going all the way until the end. Some characters totally turned into something different than I thought in the beginning of the book which was a nice surprise that I was surprised. Moments in the book left you breathless and at times just wanting to smack the characters so they would get it together and that made the true value of the story exciting for me. I love how the Author weaves characters from her previous book into this book, yet this book totally stands alone as well, so that you are left treated to a great all round fulfilling story.

OMG!!!!! What a story! Brock and Cyn's story is Hot. Both are strong individuals and both love with the same strong passion. I had wondered about Brock in Wolf Protector and I am so glad you didn't spoil his story then cause he was worth the wait to find out about him. It was worth the wait and the passion was fierce. A must read all the way. Love Milly's work If you haven't read wolf Protector you realy must read that one too.

This was intended to be SMUT. No spectacular plot is needed to make smut great. I thought @ 100+ pages it be vigorous smut. Unfortunately it was terribly boring rated PG13 Smut as far as I was concerned. As for plot .... MEH.... I'm passing on the second book & honestly am wondering why i finished this one. ugh...

Brock is the leader of the Federal Paranormal Unit but when they assign him a new boss, it's the woman he's loved for years. Cyn has good reason for leaving Brock ten years ago and she believes nothing will make her change her mind. When her aunt calls saying her cousin is missing her and Brock go to look into it. Cyn will have to face her past and find her cousin before it's too late.
Plenty of sex, a hunky FBI agent, and a little town were everyone has something to hide. I really enjoyed this book but a couple of parts I had to keep re reading because they were a little confusing. If you liked the first book, you'll enjoy this one too.

Brock and Cynthia are an amazing couple. Brocks' shifting powers are so awesome. His love for Cynthia is so very SEXY!!!!!!!! I was so enthralled by this book I read it in one day! Absolutely captivated by this book!

James insists on going with her.

My Opinion: I really enjoyed this book. I like that James was not just a werewolf but that he is a hybrid. I think that Cynthia should have talked to Brock all those years ago instead of running, but it could be considered a selfless reason also. I gave this book 4.5 Hearts. I have loved all of Milly's books that I have read so far and this one is no different. As I have not read book 1 yet, I can say that although this is the second book in a series it can be read as a stand alone. I absolutely loved Brock's character since his first appearance in Wolf Protector. He carried that "Don't mess with me, I can squash you like a bug" vibe very well. So of course I've been eagerly awaiting his story. In typical Milly Taiden fashion, the main characters of course have some sort of back story to them. A shared past that has led to their current situation and although she throws hints here and there throughout the book, Ms. Taiden drags out the tension until this reader was ready to pull her own hair out.
I have to admit that although I was aggravated that Brock seemed to suffer from what I call PCS (post coital stupidity) I found myself thoroughly enjoying reading this book. I felt that Brock let her off the hook to easily. The big, tough, take no nonsense Other let himself be led by his hormones and I’m not sure how I feel about that. However, my personal feelings aside, I felt Dangerous Protector was well written and definitely worth the read.

Milly Taiden has done it again!! This book was full of action, danger, deceit, lies, sex and an undeniable love! Cyn ran away from the man she loved ten years ago! What happens when she is back and his boss! Brock is shocked to see the women he loves after so long and not knowing why she left! Good and bad.
This is book 2, it clearly stated that in the title and it's not often I'd read the second book without reading the first but I liked the sound of this one and just started reading. Some of my confusion early on is due to this, the paranormal team, the individual characters and the whole set-up and yes I really should have stopped and read the first book, but I didn't so I just went with it.
There's a lot about this book I liked, unusual characters with not always defined powers, Donovan looks like an interesting case for future books. Brock, I loved him what woman wouldn't but since this was his book I would have liked more on him, what we got was good but we never discovered his full potential or really what he even is, I get the half wolf part but what else?
Once I'd got past my early confusion the story itself held me but I struggled to actually like this book and the reason was Cynthia, I just didn't like her at all, I didn't get why she was in charge, her power was sketchy at best, she was weak and basically unlikeable. I couldn't understand why she left Brock like she did, I mean seriously who does that, no conversation or explanation just disappear and then to find out that she's never even bothered to make sure, she just threw their lives away like that....I'm not buying it and Brock deserves someone strong and loyal, someone who'll love him like he loves them. So Cynthia totally spoilt this book for me, I won't be going back to read the first one and I won't be continuing on with the next one either.
I actually finished this book last night and I always write my review immediately otherwise I forget, as I've done on numerous occasions but I knew I wouldn't write a fair review since I was so annoyed, I've waited until this morning and I'm giving 3 stars which I think is fair, I liked the story, loved Brock and the background characters and although Cynthia totally spoilt the book for me I can appreciate that it wasn't all bad.

Brock that boy doesn't beat around the bush, "okay, you want to find common ground? Let's start by you telling me why you left after accepting my proposal." He ground the words out past the knot in his throat. The beast inside him hurt. He'd missed her. His mate." Let me tell you what Brock may be part animal but where Cyn is concerned that damn animal runs the show, "the animal inside growled. He couldn't take her yet. The last time they'd been together, he'd been worried about being too rough with her, too much for her. Not anymore. She was his." He doesn't make excuses for how he feels or acts he tells the truth, "I can't help it, love. You make the beast want to come out of me." He grinned." Brock isn't one of those who lays out his emotions, but when he does it's an opportunity you don't want to miss, "if you wanted my happiness, you'd realize having you in my life was the only way to achieve that," he rumbled and leaned forward. "Neither I, nor the beast inside me want any other woman. Everything that I am, man, beast, demon, belongs to you. Always will." Another book well done Milly!

James and Cynthia were great together. All he wanted to do was protect and love her. Ditto for Cynthia. The issues plaguing Cynthia were real people issues and her reasons for making a few of the choices that she made. This was a read that kept my interest without a break. I read it all the way through in one sitting. That speaks of a good book, in my opinion. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is the second book of the Federal Paranormal Unit. It was just as awesome as the first one. Once I started it, I could not put it down. Brock and Cyn has a past, now she is his boss. To say there is heat is an understatement. You will love this well-developed story. Get comfy and be prepared to pull an all-nighter reading this.

I fell in love with Brock! So protective and sexy! Mmm. Cyn was awesome. I love how she stood her ground and was strong though battling some demons of her past! This book is another great example of why I love this author!!! Sexy exciting paranormal romance at it's best!

Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden is book 2 in the exciting and sexy Federal Paranormal Unit Series. This can be read as a standalone, but once you are done, you will definitely want to check out Book 1, Wolf Protector and fall in love with my man Trent! Ms. Taiden always seems to fill my need for a good paranormal romance. In Dangerous Protector there is a great balance of suspense, mystery, and scorching erotic love scenes. Once again, Milly Taiden takes us to a world full of shifters, demons, and other worldly characters and their mission to help find what is lost and to take down the bad guys. I admire the hell out of Ms. Taiden for her ability to keep us so engrossed in the story. If you're sure the man you love is "the one" why would you run away from him when he proposes? Didn't make sure to James Brock aka Brock either. Cynthia Vega ran from him after his proposal and it's been years since he's seen her last. After driving up to a potential rescue mission he sees her coming out of the house with the victim.
Something transpired between these two Brock had no idea truly happened. She had made the choice for him. He had never loved another. She was his mate. The only woman who would ever satisfy his beast or his other para-self. They had been apart for years...but that never stopped the love either of them have for the other.
Cynthia grew up without a father. She wanted to raise above her station and be someone, help people, and be the best at it. Leading her favorite leading man's FBI group because she too had a para-self and strove to be the best brought back all the feelings she thought she'd pushed aside and hidden. Brock was still as handsome and she was still as drawn. Could she handle working along side him without dragging him down as she feared she would?
That's the crazy thing about love isn't it? When you feel you're not enough for the person you have such deep feelings for you have to believe love will conquer all. That would be the underlying theme for these two for me. He knew it...she didn't want to face it. Scared. It's definitely worth the read to see if they can overcome her complete denial or if she walks away forever...again.
