Rate this book
Shelby Campbell has a secret she's kept from her friends and her newly found family. She's a victim of domestic abuse, hiding from her psychopathic ex-husband. She hopes to leave her past--and her ex--behind when she moves to Morris Springs and changes her name. She thinks she's left no trail for him to follow, but she quickly discovers her ex is more resourceful than she gave him credit for.

Tommy Bell is the sheriff of Morris Springs and it's his job to keep Shelby safe. He has no idea how determined her ex-husband is to make sure that if he can't have Shelby, no one can. When Shelby leaves the protection of the Triple S to save her son, Tommy has to find her, before it's too late.

Award-winning author Tori Scott believes in love and enjoys writing about the ways people fall in love and the pitfalls along the way. Her own love story was a classic romance storyline. She met her husband, Tony, on her first day of college at the age of 17 and knew the moment she met him that he was the one she was supposed to marry. She did, and they now live on 5 acres in the country with their dog Bo. They have 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

A wonderful cap to an awesome series. Tori Scott has a great talent for creating people that I love in stories that grab me from the first page. This series is a must read for anyone who appreciates really good writing, a bit of suspense with their romance, and friends on the page. It is time for us to move out of Morris Springs, and I am going to miss all of them. One of the things that I love is that although this is the last book in the series and key elements are wrapped up, it is obvious that life goes on for the characters even though we will no longer be a part of their lives.

We met Shelby in Beneath a Texas Star, when Nick discovered that he had living siblings and now she moves to live with her brother and to escape her stalking ex-husband. As Nick and Jean prepare for there holiday season wedding, all his friends step forward to back him up in protecting Shelby and her son Cole. First in that line of people ready to help Shelby, is Tommy Bell, sheriff of the county and really good guy.

By the way if you have read Lone Star Justice, the McQuad family has a cameo role in addition to the help that Rand provides from his position and personal knowledge

It is sad to say "Farewell" to my dear friends, but I look forward to my next journey with Tori Scott!

As always I want to point out that a 4 star review on Goodreads can be a 5 star recommendation on any other site. This book is a full star book!!!

Tori Scott delivers again, as only she can. When Shelby Campbell and her son Clay move to Morris Springs, she has a secret that she's afraid could ruin her chances with her new found family and friends. Shelby is running for her life from an increasingly abusive and violent ex-husband. Shelby with the help of her recently found brother and his friends has decided to change her name to her birth name, and hope that with all of their help that she and Clay will be safe. It's very hard to learn to trust after so many years of abuse and scorn. Sheriff Tommy Bell is gentle but firm, he's understanding and seems to know what Shelby needs before she has to say a word, but can she trust him? It's almost Christmas, Nick and Jean are getting married in just a few days, Clay is feeling a little rebellious because of being uprooted and having to stay so contained, Michael Shelby's ex-husband is missing so everyone is strained and worried about what might happen should he show up. It's an explosive situation, who do you trust to hold things together?

The Best of the Best!

This is the last book in the Lone Star Cowboys series and I thing it is the best by far. Shelby Campbell and her son Clay run away to Morris Springs to be near her brother Nick, hoping to escape her abusive ex-husband, Michael. No matter where they have run to in the past, he has always found them. As a way of escaping him, Shelby decides to change her name back to the name she was born with, Danielle (Dani) Brand. We are reunited with all our previous heroes and heroines and get to watch Sheriff Tommy McCade fall for our lovely Shelby. Tori Scott ties up the ends from some of the other storylines in the previous books in a satisfactory way. I highly recommend this book.

In this the last book of the Lone Star Cowboy series you get Shelby and Sheriff Tommy's story as well as updates on all the familiar characters we've gotten to know and love. You get the right blend of suspense, romance and real life issues that all make for a great book. It is written well and I'm sad to see it end but no doubt author Tori Scott will continue to deliver great stories, great characters and quality work. Enjoy and happy reading!

I enjoyed this book and all the familiar characters being brought back. I've seen some comments about this being a book about domestic abuse however I don't see it that way, Ok number one this book isn't about living with abuse however it's about looking for freedom from a controlling and abusive man whom she fears and then when the opportunity and support system exist she runs hoping for herself and her son to feel safe again but at the same time being fearful and untrusting of relationships. It's about learning to overcome and move on from the mental and physical trauma that abuse causes and learning to live love and trust again. The back story helps is understand the heroines actions and thoughts and I felt it was a story of strength and courage.

This is the sixth book in the Lone Star Cowboys series and I think Tori Scott nailed it perfectly. Shelby Campbell finds out the Nick Jackson is her brother and decides to move to Morris Springs. First to be with her brother and second to hide from her abusive ex husband, Michael. Michael has always found them no matter where they went. As a way of escaping him, Shelby decides to change her name back to the name she was born with, Danielle (Dani) Brand and her hair style and color. We have all our previous heroes and heroines to protect Dani and her son Clay. We also get to have romance build between Sheriff Tommy McCade and Dani. Read how Dani deals with her new live with her new family!!! I highly recommend this book!! ❤️
