Hi. My name is Jordan. I never had the perfect life as a child but I wasn't abused. More like confused. I grew up in one crazy family, but they only made me the person I am today. Well, let's just say that they built the mold until I was sixteen.

Life has a way of smacking you around sometimes.

My life, after sixteen; well let's just say that I was sucker-punched. How many rounds do you think I can take or will I just cut and run the minute the whistle sounds?

I am scarred, alone, and vulnerable; fighting everyone, including myself in self preservation.

Will I find redemption, my own peace of mind?

Scarred is Book 1 of the SCARS SERIES.

I am an indie author of erotic romance books. My debut novel "Scarred" is currently available on Amazon Kindle as well as available in paperback. "Scarred" is book 1 in the "Scars Series". Book 2, "Wounded by Her" published March 30, 2014 and the reviews received are awesome. The third book in the "Scars Series", "Shattered" is now available on Amazon for Kindle as well as in paperback. All Ebooks by C.R. Gress are available in the Kindle Owners Lending Library (KOLL) as well as Kindle Unlimited (KU).

I am currently working on formatting a manuscript for a fellow author before I finish "Mending the Wounds", the final installment in the "Scars Series".

I am also slowly working on a "Scarred" Novella called "Letters to Aiden" but that is a side job and is not on the immediate release list.

After stressing myself out for most of my life and obtaining three engineering degrees, I decided it was in my best interest, for my health, that I uproot the family and move to the east coast of Florida. Then add to that the fact that I refuse to work in the engineering field rather I wait tables at a local restaurant and write books in my spare time.

I am married with two teenagers and a very spoiled pit bull but we love living at the beach year round. The family enjoys boating, swimming, fishing and more while I enjoy being around lots of different people at work as well as stay in shape with all the running.

I love Rock-n-Roll music and spend a lot of time at concerts around the region. I also love riding Harley motorcycles and can be thought of as the redneck type.

Scarred is a story about a troubled young girl who suffers almost unbearable loss beginning at a young age. She loses someone very important to her and finds herself numbing the pain through meaningless sex and drug abuse. The story begins in 1991 and ends in 2012. It chronicles her life through its highs and lows, and she does have her share of lows, but she always manages to pick herself up and go on. When she is just getting out of high school, she meets a young cop, Gavin. The two begin a hot affair, but Jordan isn’t ready for commitment yet, so she runs. However, Gavin isn’t about to give up on Jordan. Will they ever find their HEA?

Scarred had so much potential to be a 5 star read. It addresses some very important issues, such as loss and drug abuse. It is done in a very raw, realistic way, but I felt like parts of the story were rushed. I do realize that it is a book that takes place over a long period of time. However, I think it would have been better if there was more detail during the important parts of her life. There was a good bit of time described when she is undergoing treatment for her addiction. In my opinion, more time should have been taken in detailing her relationship with Gavin since he plays such a big role in the book. With all that said, Jordan was a character readers will not soon forget. There are times I didn’t really like her because of the choices she made, but other times, I loved her. She has a tenacity and determination not many people have especially when life knocked her down as many times as it did.

I will be reading the next book because it is from Gavin’s point of view. So, I am curious to see their relationship from his perspective. He really does love her, and I hope they finally get their HEA.

Title- Scarred (The Scars Series #1)
Author- C.R.Gress
Rating- 4.3 STARS
REVIEW- This novel has portrayed a character who has endured a lot of realistic life issues. I generally start of my reviews by talking of the pace of the book. But with Scarred, I want to start with the characters. The main character, Jordan, has been presented as a strong personality, and I rate the author for this representation. Jordan's character personifies a strong woman, who is tainted, but still holds her head high. The surrounding characters are also described remarkably. I felt, one of the accomplishments of this novel was the involvement of a lot of characters. Gress knew how much to focus on one particular character, before moving on. My favourite character would have to be Jordan! However, I was quite hesitant towards Gavin, but am unable to describe my reasons without giving the plot away. I hated Greg's character overall, but you'll just have to read this bundle to know why! Okay now about the pace...throughout the novel, the only way I could describe it's pace would be an ECG. The blips would correspond with the twists in the pace: fast, slow, neutral. The same would go for the plot, and it's twists and turns, throughout. Overall, I LOVED the storyline, as it's something that has never been told in this way before. However, I would like to see more emotion, in terms of side characters. And with that, I have to add I don't think anyone else could've written and portrayed SCARRED any better. Well done C.R.Gress!

This book has so much pain for one so young, to lose so much and not have the support she needed is heartbreaking. You can feel her pain as she tries to find her way through mistakes after mistakes.
I felt this was a good read, I did feel there was not enough details given. The book moved on and I felt lost at times. The author usually came back and touched on the issues but I still was left with a few unanswered questions. I did enjoy reading the book much more then the audio.

The author herself puts a lot of emotion in the book, there are a lot of pain, heartbreak. I did feel Jordan was a little wishy washy as so many women can be. She broke his heart and walked away but then said Gavin broke hers. Gavin reminds her she is the one that moved on. I really do not think Jordan knew what she wanted. I was glad to see Jordan worked out the issues with her mother and they got closer. There is no doubt that Jordan has a tough life from the beginning, had she not lost her love so early she most likely would not have made the choices she made, which in return scarred her for life. It was just a snowball effect after that with her life going out of control and no one there to help her through it. The scenes where hot and steamy but not to much of an erotica for me. I am looking forward to reading more in the next books up to see if they are able to overcome their issues and find their peace together.

Yes the author leaves some question unanswered but I am hoping she will fill in some of the blanks in the next books of the series.

Jordan's life is drastically changed when she is sixteen. The repercussions of that leads her down the road to drugs, alcohol, and promiscuity.

She is also VOID of any emotions to the point that each time she tries to recover from her downfall, something happens to send her back again.

20 years of her life go by in this book showcasing the nothingness she feels and the constant running from everyone -- including the one man she meets at 18 that she can never get out of her system.

Now she is scarred, alone, and vulnerable.

Will Jordan be able to pick up the pieces and find love again or will her scars mar her for life?

I absolutely loved this book. C.R. Gress is an absolute genius, I could not put this book down and read it in one day. I could not wait to see what happened next between Jordan and Gavin. This book took me on a roller coaster ride that I could not et off. C.R. took me through the emotions and made me feel many things. She did a great job of making the reader feel as though they are in the novel and are part of it. I can not wait to read more. C.R. Gress is amazing and everyone should read this book.

Great Book. Nothing fancy just a great story that is so easy to get into, I was done before I knew it and wanted the next book A.S.A.P.
Life is good at throwing us curve balls some of us take the bat and hit it out of the park, some of us not so much. Jordan has had life throw her some nasty fastballs but still survives.
Scarred really was a great story that was so easy to read I finished it in about 3 hours. And every minute was worth it.

I really enjoyed this book. Jordan has been through more in her short life than people should ever have to deal with. Can she get through things and make something of her life or is she going to continue having terrible luck and end up with more scars? I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

One could say that Jordan was handed a very bad hand. In response to that bad hand, she made a few bad life choices like many people do. Getting clean, she meets an amazing man who adores her. The thought terrifies her so she runs away. Can she get over her fears and let herself loved? Or is she doomed to run forever?

I listened to an audio book of this, so I feel it's best to give my opinion on both the audiobook and the story line. I just want to start out by saying I LOVED this story! I loved how emotionally intense it was. It was very obvious that the author knew all about what she was writing about. Now for my criticism on the writing. The timeline got a little jumpy but it was still okay to follow, so it wasn't too horrible. I also didn't really care about the main character all that much. I mean I get that she was going through a lot, but I feel like she just over-dramatizing everything.

The audiobook itself was great. I almost listened to most of this audio book in one sitting. The voice actress did a pretty great job. I don't really have many complaints. I think that she may have been the reason for my distaste with the main character, though.

All in all, I fully recommend this book. At the risk of full disclosure, this is very adult with adult scenes and language. It's still great, though. I have to be honest, I had my misgivings about this book at first. I'm glad I swallowed them down and read the book, though. I can't wait to read the sequel. I also plan to look up other books by this author!

Scarred is about a troubled young woman, who had a terrible loss at a young age. We follow her through her ups and downs from the beginning of the loss until she makes something of herself. Will she ever be happy again? We follow her ups and downs. Happiness and sadness. This is for mature readers due to content. I cried with Jordan, laughed with her and hurt with her. I felt part of the book.

I really enjoyed this book, it shows books aren't always have happy endings or beginnings. It shows you can pull yourself up from a low. This is very well written. And I cannot wait to read the next book
