The Best Night Ever

Prince Blueblood thought the Grand Galloping Gala was over. He thought he could just go to sleep and put it behind him. He never expected to be reliving the same disaster of a day, over and over... and over.

This fic was astounding. It was an excellent play on the wondrous movie Groundhog Day. The characters seemed believable, and in character according to the show. The plotline was sweet and endearing. It did have some flaws, but they were minor. The ending was also not up to par. It didn't quite justify the rest of the fic. But otherwise, the fic was definitely worth reading. I give it 4/5 stars. I would recommend this to anybody 13 years or older. If you're a brony, and a fan of Groundhog Day, this book is for you.

The basic idea of this story is "Cast Prince Blueblood as Bill Murray in Groundhog Day", with the same basic outcome, but the details are all quite original and well done. Prince Blueblood never loses his Bluebloodiness along the way but finds that there's a good side to himself that he never realized before.

While the protagonist is Blueblood and the story focuses tightly on his experiences, the other main six also show up - Rarity most prominently, of course. Since unlike Bill Murray's character Blueblood is not confined by happenstance to a single small town, and indeed has many personal resources at his disposal, the scope of the story is somewhat enlarged from Groundhog Day.

All in all, quite a great story that stands on its own. Inspired by Groundhog Day but not at all ripping it off.
