“Wit huiswerk” is een term die veel gebezigd wordt de laatste tijd. Look no further: dit boek opent je ogen voor een vorm van leven (op onze eigen planeet notabene!) waarvan je niet wist dat hij bestond. Voor een wit persoon leest het als een kwaadaardig sprookjesboek maar voor veel zwarte mensen (in de VS) beschrijft het de keiharde realiteit van het dagelijks leven. “Huiswerk” heeft een negatieve connotatie: het is iets dat je met tegenzin doet. Ondanks dat het geen roman is, is dit boek een echte pageturner. Dit boek zet keurig uiteen op welke manieren de zwarte bevolking van de VS tot op de dag van vandaag wordt onderdrukt.
