Rue: A dark erotica novel

Rate this book
Sailor had run afoul of the wrong man, thinking him just another common street thug. He'd shown her differently; violently and quickly.
When he finds her again a few months later, obviously pregnant, he has little doubts that it's his. Snatching her away from her life, he keeps her close until she has his child.
She has to find a way to show him that she's more valuable to him alive than dead, but his dark world is unlike anything she's ever seen. She knows only one way to convince him...

Gabrielle Miller is an award-winning author, creator, artist, and proud mother who has been telling stories since the age of eight. Her path has been anything but linear, shaped by her experiences as an athlete, military veteran, and former engineer. Eventually, she left her engineering career to embrace her true passion: storytelling and the arts.

Writing across genres like epic fantasy, urban fantasy, science fiction, post-apocalyptic worlds, dystopian struggles, and erotica, Gabrielle’s work is known for its intricate world-building and deeply emotional narratives. Her own journey with neurodivergence and mental health challenges, including PTSD and bipolar disorder, forms her characters and themes, creating stories that are as raw and authentic as they are imaginative.

When she’s not writing or creating, Gabrielle finds joy in family life, diving into great books, and dreaming up her next project. She believes in the power of storytelling to connect, heal, and inspire, and she uses her craft to turn life’s struggles into transformative tales of resilience, passion, and triumph.

I really enjoyed this after almost dnf-ing in the beginning. This story is definitely rough around the edges, not because it's poorly written, but rather because of the gritty lack of sugar coating that just hits you in the face. This isn't some glamorous mafia boss taking advantage of a poor girl while secretly being in love with her and, after a brief dub-con interlude, treating her like gold. Geo is a gang leader, he's coarse, he has no use for women (well, maybe one use), he is a stone cold rapist and killer, among many other things. He was definitely hard to like and I didn't till very late in the book. Though I appreciated the depth of his manipulation and strategic thinking in the end. It definitely wasn't something I would've expected from his character. Rue also got on my last nerve with her constant mouthing off - like, girl, you're supposed to be smart? The sharing scene was out of character and I could've done without it. The smut, what there was of it, wasn't really great for something called "dark erotica". yet, somehow, despite all these issues, the book gripped me. I was invested in the characters, maybe even got a bit of a Stockholm syndrome of my own by the end. This one is dark, without the glitz and glam of the fictional "underworld", but there's a love story, however unlikely, that kept me glued to the pages as the story went on.

CHECK TRIGGERS————

I liked this book for the most part - the writing style was uh different for me? Not bad just different. I had Stockholm right along with my girl for Geo tho … he was a different breed 🤭 maybe something’s wrong with me? Not sure on that yet LOL. The spice was spicy but too rushed , not enough detail but enough for you to kick your feet a lil bit lol. Kinda hoped for a part 2 ??? 👀👀

Alright. How do you recommend a book that starts out with a girl having severe nightmares from an SA who gets kidnapped by the person who did it... but then makes you feel like you have Stockholm Syndrome even though you are just a reader? Normally, that would be an outstanding book. I just can't give it a 4 since that is my awesome, and I loved it. Maybe a 3.75 and 2 for spice... but see the trigger warnings if there are any. I went in blind and was a bit shocked at the direction of the book. Ultimately, I did like it. But you need to be a dark romance reader to be ok with the subject matter. A lot of death, severe obsession of MMC, and other things that would make people give it a bad review, and I don't think it deserves that.

We are now outright promoting and showing rape and abuse as romance????

I honestly don't know how people liked this book, when it's nothing but rape ,rape, rape and abuse, abuse, abuse. The MC is disgusting, utter filth, worst than shit and the fmc, who is yet to graduate from school, is a victim of SA, abuse and extreme Stockholm Syndrome. No justice or salvation for the pitiful fmc and the disgusting, loathesome Gio gets HEA.

Only a sick and women hater can write such a bad bad disgraceful book, and honestly this author needs to checked and inspected.

Would have given it negative stars but alas goodreads does not have it.

He raped her because she yelled at him to get out of her way. She got pregnant. She ran into him at the grocery store and fled in terror. He remembered her and realized she was pregnant. He kidnaps her and says he wants his baby.

He hits her and she is bruised. He repeatedly rapes her. He is skeptical that he is the dad.

She knows computers. So she stupidly tells him his computer guy is not doing things right. Now he wants her to hack banks for him.

Deep, dark story.

Yup, this is twisted and the redemption arc is amazing. There are no easily discerned good or bad people, and the way this author paints with words is amazing. If non con is a hard limit, this isn’t the book for you. If seeing justice happen after horrible things, then this book is for you. She is a hell of a writer, highly recommend, well, everything she has written.

Dark intense

Sailor is a young girl who could possibly have a bright future. Geo is a dark, dangerous man not to be missed with at all. When their worlds collide its not pretty. A truly intense read that might trigger some people.

same female lead

Her stories are good it’s just that all her female leads are the same. Short, always sick and tired and mouthy, it would be nicer to see some change
