Clive Staples Lewis was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954. He was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

Hello my name is Drew and I am a twelve year old boy that hats reading, but the reason why I liked this book was because I am the type of person that like fictional and short books so if you are like me then you will definitely love this book. I would say that how this book changed me in a major way is that there was so many questions that got me thinking about how I would react and got me think like that in every day life. Here is so cool, fun, and interesting facts about the book series called Narnia, the first one is that there is seven books in the book series, this book series also has a lot of similarities to the Bible and that is the truth and if you are offended by that and you feel like I hurt your feelings then I would like for you to know that I do not care so deal with it, if you like medieval battles with fictional animals then you will like this book and all of the books in this book series because this book series has a lot of that sort of thing so read it I am telling you that you will love it but the reason why this book series has so much books in this book series is because he wanted to tell story's about Jesus and wanted to make them fun for kids that liked action and excitement while they were learning valuable lessons, and CS Lewis loved teaching kids valuable lessons that they could carry on and tell other children or tell their children in the future and the advice would also give them a great and better way of understanding things. If you have not read this book yet then skip this sentence so I don't spoil anything for you because I have to rite a review on it because it is for school and I have to say all this stuff for school, so the plot is that this boy that has a sick mother (a unknown sickness) and his dad haft to move in with the moms sister and brother that live in england but the boys dad has to go to india to get more money to pay for the bills that the doctor is asking for but the moms brother is a magician and he has ring that can send you the other worlds, but now I will talk to you about the characters in the book, the boy that I was talking about earlier is one of the main characters he is the nephew of the magician, the store neighbor named Polly is also one of the main characters that also go's to the other worlds with Digger, also the magician (the uncle of the boy) go's to the other worlds with them, the dad but we do not hear a lot about him, the mom (which is sick) also do's not get a lot told about her, the aunt which is the sister of Digger's mom and the sister of magician, the witch how is from a other world and she is evil, and the last one Aslan and he is good and fights the evil witch. I would also say that the author did a great job at writing this story and some observations would be that he told the story in third person view and he added a lot of detail.

De leitura fácil, demonstra claramente como foi escrito posteriormente pelo controle do autor sobre o seu universo e pelo forma como todas as explicações se encaixam perfeitamente com o universo preexistente. Trabalha bem os assuntos do interesse do autor, com belas metáforas e uma leitura rica para crianças. É um pouco anticlimático porque nunca investe em grandes conflitos. Traz uma boa história de origem.

m'esperava que fos més sobre afers de Narnia, no tant anar i venir. però quan ho he entès, he trobat que té un sentit argumental ben trobat. la majoria de seccions estàn bé i prou, però de sobte trobes parts com el cant de l'Aslan o la conversa entre en Digory i la Bruixa a bàsicament l'Eden que son precioses.

I expected great things from this book as I love the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. However, I found the storyline hard to get into and there were too many descriptions. It did, however, provide some great foreshadowing for the lion, the witch and the wardrobe book.

I tried reading this when I was younger, but I never made it very far because the beginning was slow. Once I got past the build up and into the creation of Narnia, it was much better!

Loved reading this again. It was interesting to read it as an adult versus when I was in middle school. The writing is so C.S. Lewis and I loved reading his works again. I pray the new tv adaptation does not ruin the magic of these (and the biblical symbolism).

grande fan des films que je visionne chaque année, je n'avais pris le temps de lire les livres que lorsque j'étais plus jeune, et je me suis dit qu'une relecture s'imposait !
je suis donc très biaisée, parce que c'est un univers qui a pas mal bercé mon enfance, les films font partie de mes films préférés et leurs personnages ont une place immense dans mon coeur... mais je trouve que ce premier tome (qui en réalité était plutôt le sixième) fait très bien le taff !
certes, il doit être compliqué à lire quand il ne sert que de préquel, c'est-à-dire qu'un lecteur qui ne connaît pas la suite et qui ne lirait pas ce livre comme une manière de poser les bases d'un univers bien plus vaste pourrait être un peu perdu ou s'ennuyer (contrairement à la première trilogie Star Wars qui raconte VRAIMENT un arc à part.)
mais purée, qu'est-ce que j'aime Narnia.
