Remember loving this book as a child. I recently bought it for my grandson. Turns out it was really weird and you never actually find out what the smell was

I love Ant and Bee. But I wish they wouldn't hang about with Kind Dog. Kind Dog is exactly like your friend from way back who you still feel obliged to see for historical reasons, even though he's really boring, and then you feel bad for being nasty about him, because he's kind, there's not a malicious bone in his body, but jesus, he's just so fucking dull, and he's got that rubbish hat.

Dad used to bring back Ant and Bee books from his trips to Europe. I've never met anyone else who's read these but they bring back fond memories. Now they are collectors items and go for $40+ each. Amazing. Sure wish we'd kept them....
