Forged Bloodlines #7

Release Me When the Sun Goes Down

Rate this book
“Bossy Anja was in control now, and I’d be damned if I let either Ellri take that away from me.”

Anja will endure anything to save her loved ones – torture, humiliation, showtunes, you name it. For Rob she’s sacrificed everything, even her last drop of blood, desperate to save him from Lodinn’s twisted revenge fantasy. In this seventh Forged Bloodlines installment, Release Me When the Sun Goes Down, Anja realizes that the only way to defeat an enemy scarier than Jakob is to stop relying on a knight in shining armor to do it for her and fight him herself. In the process she finds the strength to take back her due and the man she loves. The answer to her problems lies in the birthplace of vampire mythology, and Anja embarks on a rescue mission to save her family and friends before they’re picked off one by one.

This has to be one of the best (if not THE best) indie series going in PNR/UF. The plots are always multilayered, the characters unforgettable and the villains easily evoke pure hatred.

the fact that Anja love life always seems to be in shambles no matter what kind of adds another dimension to the stories.

Anyway you remember the horrible ending of the last novel (no I won't tell it here) , that is where we start this book, nothing like hitting the ground at full speed. The author plays fast and loose with people's lives in some places and I guess you can't have the ultimate endings without a bit of tragedy. This novel is no exception and the Anja, Rob, Bishop, and Jakob love mess is not as bad in this book as in previous novels so I REALLY liked that because the author seems to know when we are getting tired of a particular storyline and solves it (at least temporarily).

You will see all the old group pretty much and the ending here is done exceptionally well and in this one the last page leaves you with a teaser to make sure you buy the next one (was there ever any doubt) but it is NOT a cliffhanger, I would probably have been more than a little upset if she had done that (see what I mean about knowing when to do things).

I am sorry I can't tell more about this book but almost the whole thing is spoilerish but if you have not read the previous novels you should not be here anyway, this is the culmination of the overarching story for the last several novels and it is done in a very satisfying manner and as always about the time you think you hate Jakob he will do something to make you give him a bit more leeway.

Bottom Line: 4.5 Stars rounded up and once again I cannot wait for the next one. Seriously, this is one of the best indie series being written and better than most contract authors. Get book 1 and join the addiction.

Well, Lisa Olsen has done it again, another super freaking awesome book. I won’t lie, her books are my crack, I am so addicted to her writing that I could never get enough. Book 7 starts out where book 6 left off, in the morgue with everyone wondering if Rob is alive. I’m just going to say it, Rob dies. Watching him die was awful, even though you know he’s going to come back…. Yes, he comes back as a vampire! Woo hoo! I love Rob as a vamp it’s fun to watch him learn and grow as a newbie. He doesn’t take it very well at first, being a newbie is hard on him and his body, but I have the utmost faith that he will be a bad to the bone vamp once he gets the hang of it. I think Anja secretly loves having to take care of him, the little bit he lets her that is. Anja has a lot going on that she chooses to deal with herself, although she doesn’t have to. She makes some decisions that I sometimes didn’t agree with, and I don’t think Rob agrees with either, but in the end it all worked out so I can’t be mad at her. Lots of twists and turns in this one, boy howdy the twists! I almost forgot to mention Jakob, you will see a side to him you haven’t seen before, I was shocked by him in this book. I was shocked by a lot in this book, in the best way though. There is suspense, lots, betrayal, although I’m not sure that could have been helped, death, not just Rob’s death and the ending is going to make you say…Waaaaaa??? Best cliffhanger ever! I loved it and the way it’s already making me foam at the mouth to get my hands on the next book in the series. This series is a must read, and I pity the people who haven’t been introduced to Lisa’s amazing robot brain. Release Me was an easy and enjoyable 5 stars

An okay read

I had high hopes for this book and in a way it did deliver. It really wraps things up and leaves it open for a new direction. Most of the things you have been waiting for should get worked out. This book also falls into the trap of the previous books. Most of the book is Anja and company doing the same old stuff. Mainly whining about Lodinn and waiting for Jakob to fix things. This fills 68% of the book. Anja finally gets motivated and actually deals with the books description. After that everything gets wrapped up very quickly and easily. So easy that Anja's solution could have wrapped everything up before Lodinn ever showed up. At the very least he should have been dealt with long before he left such a body count. It was a very smart idea but it made a lot of what happened really pointless. This series has turned into politics with a touch of romance on a small scale. Anja is the elder of the west but that has little impact.

I'm so in love with Ms. Olsen's books in general but the Forged Bloodlines series has been amazing without a doubt, Release Me Before the Sun Goes Down no exception.
Just when you think there is an unfortunate end in sight we get a hell of a cliffhanger AGAIN! I don't know how she does it but the Fall is a long way away to see what happens next.
I have to say I'm still torn between who I'd want to see Anja with--Rob or Bishop. The moments between Rob and Anja go from sweet to absolutely hot but I feel some truth in Bishop and Anja being destined to be together. Who knows how it will play out but as they say, they have forever. As far as I'm concerned Ms. Olsen can keep this series going that long as well.

While this is another good installment in the series, I am getting a bit tired of the love triangle. I think that it might have advanced a bit further here because the soulful eyes and lips crashing all over was a bit much. I do like the characters and the overall story. I will most likely read the next book, but I might need some time to get the heartfelt angst out of my system.

I'm so happy that Rob and Anja finally decided to be together wether they had to hid or not. After everything she has been through she finally gets her man and gets Jakobs blessing. But what happens at the end will leave u wanting more. Camt wait to read the next one!

I might have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the repeated use of the phrase "cool beans"!
