this is the third in the Fueled by Lust series, and this is Cato's book. We met him in book one, and more in book tow, and this book overlaps a little with book two.
Cato, with "equipment to make Gates weep" sets up programs to pick up certain phases and words said, typed, on the airways and in cyberspace. His computer picks up Luna talking on an abuse line about getting away from from boyfriend Bryan. After making the decision to go, she calls the line to tell them, but that delay cost her dearly, and she ends up in hospital in a coma. Cato, having fell in love with her voice, spends time with her, but she isnt healing, so he calls in Kallon, an Insedi healer. Following a trip home, an rude awakening, some misunderstood words, LOuna finds herself back in the hands of Bryan and Cato is not backing down on his mate.
Having already read the fourth book before writing my review, I think this is my favourite! Its quite some time in the book, before Cato and Luna meet, so its slightly different, and you get more of Insedi history too, but not saying what :-P
Its much funnier, but painful too, because of Luna's situation, and her past. Cato is much more at home on earth, so there isnt so many language gaffs, but lots of funny references. I particularly loved the name given to the purple thingies (cant spell it, sorry!) that claimed Lina and Cassie, Lina calls her's Harry, since he was a Seeker....Heat Seekers....get it?? read it, you will then. But what made me laugh, with that Harry Potter reference, was that the leadig lady in this book is Luna!
I love that previous characters come and go, and new ones too. All too often you get a series, and previous characters play no part, not here. you get them all!
This leads nicely into Lucien's book, and as I said, I've already read that, and review will follow.
Cant quite stratch to five full stars, the use of the word DRUG when it should be DRAGGED drives me N>U>T>S!!!
DAAAMMNN! (Imagine that said like Chris Tucker and Ice Cube sitting on the porch in the movie Friday, and you know what I’m thinking!) If you haven’t seen that movie, YouTube is a helpful tool. Seriously, each time I start thinking about what to write up in this review, I have to calm myself back down and give myself a little fanning action. This book is HOT! I mean seriously, it’s Cato. (insert purring sound here)
Right away we are introduced to our heroine, and her crisis. Often times we read about women being abused by a significant other, but it is rarely ever emotional abuse that is depicted in stories. I was really surprised at how well this was written about in this story. The first few chapters show us a lot about who Luna is, who her struggle is against, and how clever and determined she is. Near the end of Chapter 3 the crazy breaks out, and in Chapter 4 Cato finally meets Luna, only, it’s not quite the happy introductory moment we all want for them.
I loved reading about a woman who is not afraid to admit that she made a mistake, but at the same time refuses to settle for that and is determined to turn her life around. “I know I don’t want to be like this anymore. I want to leave and find myself. In truth? I want to be loved. Is there such a thing?” ~Luna I also LOVE Cato’s “over-protectiveness”, if you can call it that. There is nothing sexier than your man wanting to protect you from every harm that even thinks about looking in your direction. This book is a full of excitement, intense moments, and some bad ass moments mixed in. I loved every minute of it, especially (huh hum...SPOILER...) Chapter 32. Holy Crap! Mmmm...mmmm...got me thinking about what I can do to get in trouble with my husband….;)
Get your fan ready and enjoy! 5 STARS for Fueled by Lust: Cato by Celeste Prater!
This was her third book in the series and I loved it!! I have so enjoyed this series.
Luna has always took care of someone, after the recent family tragedy, she felt a emptiness... so much so she had to fill it. Her present boyfriend seemed to fit that bill at first, then slowly things started to change. The feeling that she needed to leave pressed on her. When Cato finally meets Luna even from a distance he feels she is his... when the need of her rescue came upon, he was there without question. He became her protector and benefactor. Luna still in the “unknowing” was well taken care of.
If I had to name this review it would be “A Coming Home” it just fit.. the story line, Luna's character all came together. I loved her with Cato they were both each others.. missing piece. How Cato looked after her... not knowing if she would accept him, through his fear of her “freaking out”, he was a constant by her side. This wonderful story will make you laugh and some of the antics, it will make you fan your face in some of the hot scenes(the small BDSM Elements was a nice touch), it will tug at your heat strings with some of the love. It was more than a joy to read and Id recommend any of Ms Praters books to friends. Enjoy
Oh my! This series has taught me that although I have liked getting to know the Emperor's son and his Royal Guard, my heart actually belongs to the tattooed and pierced I.T. guy. Cato is one hot mamma and he is just about perfect - a bit of a slob but still perfect.
Luna, my heart goes out to her. Abuse isn't just physical and unless you've been on the receiving end of mental abuse you will have no idea how crippling it can be. I thought Celeste made Luna's story absolutely heartrending.
Cato has had me in tears - both with Cato's emotions and with Luna's story. It is an absolutely superb book that I really can't recommend highly enough.
The thing that really ties it all up for me into one of the best erotic sci-fi series I have ever read is the attention to the timeline and all the details of the world and the men. The mannerisms and sayings that we take for granted that can be misconstrued... and frequently are by the 'newbies' that arrive. I love how the ending of one book leads into the start of the next.
There are so many stories I have yet to hear, I hope that Celeste has more than a couple of tales left to tell in this series!
What? I thought my review posted. Let me try again. Awesome, super, fantastic read. Cato can throw me on the back of his harley and I'd happily ride off into the sunset on any planet he wanted to park my butt on. I'm in love. That's right. I'm in love with a fictional character. Someone needs to cart me off to the loony bin. I blame it all on Ms. Prater's ability to get me invested in her characters and how these incredibly hot sweetheart aliens love their women so much that they would do anything to make sure they don't get hurt. Oh, and did I mention how incredibly super, burn you down, hot Cato is in the bed? Good grief. I'll never look at my couch the same. Love, love, love this series. I even love the cat, Donk. You gotta read this. Fantastic story.
It really isn't my favorite read this year. For the most part of the book the heroine is comatose and I didn't like her personality much when she was awake. It is nice to kill some time.
