So I have a ton of stuff that makes me want to run to the hills once I see certain words in a blurb. One of them is funny, humor, hilarious etc. So when I was asked to review a romance…one more of those words where I wanna run. I figured ok. So ignore the romance and any attempts of humor for my own sanity. That makes it way better. For me that is.
Then I started the book. And the romance kicked in really fast in the story. The romance was not bad and got me engrossed in the lives of the two main protagonists lives. Ok so I get saying that the romance got me engrossed after trying to ignore the romance might be weird… thing is….the romance was really good. It had all the expected tension and we have two very likeable main protagonists.

But on the way to get to the romance I hit the humor. And it had me in stitches. Certain parts literally had me laughing out loud. And had me tell friends, listen to this….lol. That my friends is why the words humor etc in a blurb makes me want to run to the hills. Few authors can actually ever pull it off. This book however is not misrepresented in its blurb.

The humor is brilliant, the world building is well done. The reference to Christian literature is never derogative and adds loads to the theme of the book which as it turns out is the true definition of love. Pure love not only romantic love. This book is a brilliant, really fast read and one that I will recommend to all that love humor, romance and Christian literature in general.

"Summers' Love, A Hilariously Funny Cinderella Love Story" by Stu Summers is a great romantic read with lots of fun and also more serious notes.
Told from two perspectives it tells the complicated story of the romance between Kate and Stu. Kate struggles financially as sales rep for protection devices. Stu is a romance writer and, in fact, a little too good to be true.
The two meet and struggle through a series of misunderstandings, deceptions and unfortunate circumstances.
The plot is well developed and much better than a light hearted love story would suggest. Despite the many funny moments both lead characters have enough depth to make them likeable and credible.
A very enjoyable novel.

This was a first read book that I won a copy of and was surprised at how much I liked it!

I read the book in one day and enjoyed it immensely. The characters were very believable and well developed. The story was very good and I believed it could really happen that way. Many women feel like Kate and have many worries about the men they date. Stu's shyness and fear of a loving relationship were very believable too. I recommend this book as one great love story with no sex scenes to worry about. Love that about this book. Thank you!!

Light. Breezy. Entirely charming. Looking for a great summer read to toss into your beach bag? SUMMER’S LOVE is the book for you.

The story is the basic boy meets girl (both of which carrying a lot of emotional baggage), boy loses girl (because of said baggage), boy wins girl back (baggage successfully dealt with). I know, I know. Why read another one of these?

Because this one is lightened with humor and snarkiness.

SUMMER’S LOVE doesn’t really take itself seriously, but that’s exactly what makes it such a fun read. You’ll feel like smacking the hero, Stu Summers (yep, that’s also the author’s name, go figure). You’ll alternately cheer and rave at heroine Kate Winston. And I guarantee you’ll love/hate Red, a side character who doesn’t know when to quit.

If you need a short, easy escape into a quirky love story, give SUMMER’S LOVE a whirl. It's not my usual genre, but it was a fun excursion for a change of pace.

Though I’m not a fan of romance novels, I enjoyed “Summers’ Love” a lot more than I initially thought I would. The premise makes it sound more like a romantic comedy, and even though it has a ton of laugh-out-loud scenes, it also carries a sweet and endearing message about love, heartbreak, and the difficulties the best of relationships sometimes undergo.

“Summers’ Love” is a riveting read with two lovely protagonists and a supporting cast of zany secondary characters. The writing is top notch, and although it reads like a typical romance novel with a predictable ending, it is still a wonderful feel-good read that leaves you craving more from this exceptional author!

Highly recommended.

If you are looking for literary greatness, you won't find it here. If you are looking for a lighthearted read, a summer-in-the-middle-of-winter or a beach read that will keep you turning pages while the surf licks at your tootsies ... this is it.

It's just ... FUN. But it's also a page-turner. And a little pushy around the boundaries, which is fine because that's where most of us live anyway. Still, nothing that offended my sensitivities.

Bottom line--Summer's Love is not for your next literary book club, but definitely for your next BOOK club. As in: read this BOOK. It's fun. You'll laugh. You'll grit your teeth. You'll just flat-out enjoy it.

Follows the classic romantic comedy formula based on deception. Somewhat predictable. As in, you know the couple will get together at the end. But the tag line about it being a Cinderella Love Story is accurate in the sense that the someone turns out to be a pumpkin (not saying whom). Has a little bit of a spiritual element but not so much that it turned me off. All in all, an easy read.

I was given this book in return for an honest review/

This was a wonderful read.
This is the sort of book you can read whilst enjoying the sun and a glass off nice chilled wine.
I loved Kate and Stu and constantly found myself rooting for the pair of them to get their "Happy Ever After".
This was well written and I look forward to reading more by this author :)

From Josephine's review:

"I thought I downloaded an inspirational or clean story according to the source list I found it on. The main character asked others what their biggest fear was, and one answer was "The repeal of Roe vs Wade." No thank you to this book."

This reminds me of part of what turned me off about this book. Unfortunately, I cannot remember who the other character was, and that could make a difference, but I think I remember that it was a character that the reader is supposed to relate to. And I can't relate to that. I kept going on this book until chapter 9. I disliked the whole thing.

“Summers’ Love” by Stu Summers is not your typical romance. It’s not a typical Cinderella story, either. And yet, it uses many of the typical clichés that are found in romance and comedy, but not in a typical manner.
Kate Winston moves to Georgetown with hopes of making it as a sales rep for Tasmania, a company selling personal protection devices for women. She sells stun guns to women, using the sales techniques usually used for Tupperware and cosmetics. If she can just sell ten more guns, she can win the title of salesman of the year, and a trip to Nassau. But to make those sales, her customers want her to sweeten the deal by including a signed copy of the latest romance novel written by Stu Summers.
Kate leaves the party and rushes down to the local book store where Stu Summers is having a book signing. One look across a crowded room and they both feel the chemistry. She purchases 14 copies of the novel, only to learn that there is a limit of one autograph per customer. Stu signs one copy, and includes a bookmark that gives the address of his rental cottage a few hours away. Mistaking it for a personal invitation, Kate takes her books, and drives to the elite resort, only to learn that the bookmark is nothing more than an advertisement.
Fate is on her side, and she runs into Stu at the resort. Having no place to stay, the sexy author offers to put her up for the night, and they begin getting to know each other. What they share, and what they are really trying to do are two different things. Each is hiding their true intentions and identities from the other, in a scheme that is similar to “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days”.
While using a bestselling author for a hero in a romance novel has been done to the point of becoming a cliché, this author’s history is not the typical pie in the sky dream. According to the author’s profile on Amazon, much of the information is true. Stu Summers is a real author, and actually published the books mentioned in the story. How much of the character’s career and sex appeal are actual facts is a blurred line only the author can call. Describing himself as the perfect sex symbol is a bit egotistical, but the author’s profile picture isn’t exactly ugly, either.
Instead of the typical plot where the hero writes one book, hits it big, and lives on easy street for the rest of his life, this character’s career is more realistic. He’s a man who scraped his way up from the bottom. He took the classes, joined a critique group, and suffered reams of rejection letters. He’s the perfect, handsome, marketable icon with only one major flaw: he can’t write. Finally, he admits to his lack of talent, and makes a pact with a ghost writer.
Hattie, a good Christian woman with lots of writing talent, but without the marketable image, has been turning out his books for him. Now, she wants to explore a new genre, leaving Stu without a manuscript, a demanding editor, and a breach of contract suit. If Stu wants to save his career, he’ll have to write an entire book in just one week.
Romance readers who enjoy a touch of comedy will enjoy this book. Authors who are frustrated by rejection will be able to identify with the realistic “pay your dues” look at what it really takes to be a best-selling author. Readers who are tired of the Cinderella plot where everything goes right for the heroes will enjoy a reverse take where everything goes wrong, but ends up being right in a better meaning of the word.
The book is well written, very enjoyable, and includes a lot of “oh, no, she/he didn’t do THAT!” moments.

Kate Winston is a sales representative for Tasmanian Tasers, selling stun guns to women for protection. She's broke and her mortgage is due. When the ladies at her demonstration party will only buy a stun gun if she gets each of them a signed copy of author Stu Summer's newest book, she has no choice but to agree--even if it means following him to the Outer Banks on the coast of North Carolina. But the one thing she never counted on is falling in love. Can she get past her major trust issues and follow her heart?

Stu Summers is a best-selling author--at least that's what the world believes. In reality he's a fraud, a phony, who never wrote any of the books that bear his name. For years he's rode on the talent of an anonymous "holy ghostwriter" but when he meets the determined Kate Winston his world slowly starts to unravel. He only wanted to use her for his next novel, he never planned to fall in love. How far will he go to win her trust and prove his love?

When I find new authors I'm often skeptical about their books and whether I will like them. I want to be entertained and drawn into the story. It's a great feeling when I find a book that keeps me engaged to the point that I hate to put it down. Summer's Love is just that kind of book for me. Kate and her stun gun parties were so entertaining, especially with her brother being the guinea pig. Stu's "holy ghostwriter", Harriet was the motherly type that believed in doing the right thing. She was a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is old lady that has the ability to put a six foot-plus bodyguard in his place. I enjoyed her character immensely. She needs a "granny sleuth solves mysteries" story of her own! Red was also another character I loved. She was a guest at Kate's stun gun party that wound up playing a larger part later on in the book. She was a tough shoot-now-and-ask-questions-later type of woman. But underneath the tough exterior she had a big heart and a protective nature and only wanted Kate to be happy. Stu was in his own little world in the beginning but he soon realized that sometimes you need to put the feelings of others ahead of your own. I loved his transformation. Both Stu and Kate were passive when it came to God and religion. They weren't sure there was even a God to put their trust in. But their relationship with God soon evolved into something more solid and it was great to see the changes in them both.

This was a book about love and the sacrifices a person will make to prove their love for another. It was about trust and how each of us need someone we can count on. It was about relationships, with each other and our Creator, and how necessary they are in our lives. It was a fun read and very entertaining. The characters are the kind you hope to read more about and the setting was amazing. Sailing on the ocean in a sailboat? Very romantic and very engaging. I hated to put it down and I didn't want to see it end. I loved the whole plot--it gives us a little peak into the world of authors and, being an avid reader, that was a treat. I would love for this to be book one in a series. (Hint to the author and publisher!) If you have never read anything by Stu Summers I recommend you start here. If you like contemporary romance with the right amount of humor woven in, you'll love this book! Highly recommended!

Summer's Love by Stu Summers is a good old fashioned love story. It has all the elements and clichéd situations that just hook the reader in from the first to the very last page, and it leaves you wanting more. It is cute. It is funny. And at the end of the novel, the reader is left with a warm fuzzy feeling.
Kate sells on stun guns for a living, and hosts parties, in the hope of becoming the top sales person, and winning a holiday. At a party, all the women agree to buy a stun gun, if Kate gives away signed copies of the latest Stu Summers book.
Kate has never read a Stu Summers novel, but buys fourteen from the local book store, where the famous author is doing a book signing. She patiently waits in line, but is disappointed to learn, it is just one signed copy per person. Kate is determined to be sales person of the year, and follows Stu Summers on his break. Stu signs another copy, and includes a book mark.
Kate still needs more copies signed, and on looking at the book mark, sees what she thinks is a personal invitation to Stu Summers summer home. Kate, with books in tow, motors for several hours. On arriving, she realises, it was no personal invite, merely a printed advert to stay in the famous author's home. Kate, is disappointed, but Stu invites her to stay. They both feel an attraction, and thus a wonderful romantic comedy ensues.
Stu, who built his literary career on a lie, wants to come clean with Kate, but each time he starts to tell her, he is interrupted. What will happen when she finally hears the truth?
Ghost writer and devout Christian Hattie is Stu's friend. She encourages him to write, and pushes him forwards in his personal and Christian life. Whilst also encouraging the reader in their walk with God.
Summers Love is a very clever story. It has wonderful descriptive narrative, that enables to reader to easily envisage the scenes. It is also funny and light hearted. It would easily translate into a movie, and I, for one, would love to see this happen.
I have never before read a novel where the author lends his name to the main character. I did wonder if Summers Love mirrored the author's life, but as the story panned out, with all the traditional great story telling devices, I decided that it probably didn't!
I can thoroughly recommend Summers Love - it is entertaining, clever, amusing, and really is a Cinderella love story. So do yourself a favour and download or buy a copy today. You will be missing out, if you don't.

I just finished the audio version of Summers' Love. I thoroughly enjoyed this lighthearted romance. First, it's predictable. But that makes it enjoyable. It's those moments of thinking, "I was right!" I found myself saying, "How could he?" and "Why would she?" but of course, I knew it would work out in the end. There are many pop-culture references which added to the fun. At times it was repetitive (how often do we need reminding that Stu and Kate aren't exactly as they present themselves) but even so, it worked.
The secondary characters add much to the story.
Stu Summers is a much sought-after writer of romance novels who also loves sailing. His best romances are in his books, and his lack of real relationships leaves him awkward around women.
Kate Winston is an ambitious woman trying to pay her mortgage. Taking a second job selling stun guns at home parties, she's on her way to make Sales Rep of the Year. Her last party deflated when some of the women wanted to leave to get Stu Summers' autograph at the local book store.
Kate makes them an offer: If they each buy the most expensive stun gun available, she'll make sure each of them gets an autographed copy of Stu's book. Kate couldn't care less, she's barely heard of him. But she wants to earn her bonus trip and the Top Sales title.
Off she goes to the bookstore, purchasing twelve copies, only to find there's a limit of one autograph per customer. What's a girl to do? Naturally, she follows Stu into the parking lot and disrupts a call. He adheres to the bookstore rules and signs just one book, leaving her with a bookmark inviting her to his beach cottage for the weekend. Kate leaves, unsure what to do.
Oh and that phone call Stu was on? It all boils down to this: He's a fraud. He can't write. He's been paying Hattie, an elderly church going woman to write for him. His fame and fortune? Because of Hattie.
And now you have the storm brewing: Kate, nearly homeless yet a top sales representative. Stu, a best-selling author who can't write. Hattie, who writes Stu's stories and stays in the background. And Stu's editor, oblivious to the entire mess, who wants new material ASAP.
Bring them all together and you get Summers' Love.
I really want to tell you more like how it ends or reference part of the storyline, but I'd rather you read it yourself. This is a fast, easy read and it's sure to put you in a good mood.

I received this book to give an honest review.

I am not big on romance books they are so hard to get into. But when I read the blurb to this one I figured you know what I will totally give this book a try and I am so glad I did. I literally was laughing at some parts, shaking my head at the main character, and most of all found myself enjoying the story.

There were so many points in the book that I enjoyed reading and the advice that was given by Hattie was just amazing and I agreed with her.
Now you may wonder okay who is Hattie that gives great advice, she plays a big role in Stu's life and knows the right thing to say.

Favorite quote: "Profanity is the sign of an unimaginative mind, dear." Totally fell in love with this being said as I find it to be true.

Favorite quote number 2: "Soup simmers. Love needs stirring." How true is that and something that I need to think about in my own love life of marriage.

You start off with Kate who is a woman that sells stun guns, yep I said it. When she tries to make her sales she decides to try another way to sell. In the process she meets Stu, now it is like love at first sight but Kate is a person who doesn't trust men. Now we all know that when a woman can not trust a guy it is because of something in their past. That is the same with Kate. She is very independent and has her own problems to deal with.
Now Stu this best selling author has a secret that he has been holding, and it comes to light as him and Kate deal with their feelings for each other. He is a gentleman, caring, sweet.
I found myself wanting to shake Kate for being so rude, but then again I could see how she felt. When Stu opens up his heart and lays his feelings out my heart pattered with love and aww! I have to say the ending was a perfect way to end the book and I LOVED it!
There is Christian references within the story, but it is nothing overbearing. It goes together wonderful and it fits the way the story is written perfectly.
For those that pick a book based on the cover, don't do that with this book, pick up the book because of the blurb and the way the story is told.
For those that enjoy humor with romance than check this out!

Summers’ Love, A Hilariously Funny Cinderella Love
By Stu Summers

In heavy financial trouble, Kate Winston needed to earn extra money to make her mortgage payment. Fourteen women met at her apartment for a demonstration which could save their lives. Kate soon realized she was losing her audience when one lady mentioned author, Stu Summers, was autographing his latest novel at the bookstore nearby.

Kate bargained with the ladies. They would buy her product and she would toss in an autographed copy of Stu Summers.

Kate’s goal is to win a trip to Nassau with her top sales. Yes, she had orders and a good chance of winning. Now how to get the books autographed?

The story of how that could happen is the love story with a few zigs, zags, and touches of faith. A relaxed read and a little fun tossed in the mix.

I was given this book for my honest evaluation.

I signed up to read this book only knowing it was a romance, nothing else. Most stories seem like a repeat of just about everything you have ever read. But this book is different and original. Kate decides to win over a group of people by getting them autographed books written by Stu. However nothing turns out as planned. The story follows them through an adventure packed romance with a sweet ending. The ending leaves you wanting and needing to know more. I also wished the relationship would have been drawn out more, everything happened really quickly! Overall it was a great read. #WaARSUMMERLOVE

An amazing story of finding love and with it life. What do you do when you are an author who has never experienced love? Why you get a ghost writer. What happens when she says no more...well you need to find a woman to love. If she happens to carry a tazer and loves using it....well then so be it. If the Holy Ghost ghost writer also happens to be a giggle a minute then you have a winner, as you do with this book. It is amazing. I loved it and thus my 5 * review. I am sure everybody will love this book.

There is plenty of comedy, and it’s the welcome and winsome kind where the joke is on all of us. The foibles of guys and gals, celebrities and working stiffs, Christians and the secular-to-vaguely-spiritual all intertwine in characters you'll care about. If there’s a loving God, the people he loves are a bundle of flaws. But there’s no “those people” - they are all of us and that’s part of the book’s charm.

If you like romantic comedy, you'll be on board with this tale. If you don't, you'll have fun as Summers riffs on romance novel conventions and takes things in unexpected directions.

A cute, humorous romance. Enjoyed it thoroughly! Stu had some major strikes against him, but the author did a great job bringing him to the place where he finally got it right. And the things Kate goes through are so close to reality, but with such a funny spin. Light story but with a great plot. Highly recommend!

Other than a little too lengthy (and boring to me) part about sailing along the North Carolina coast, this was a fast and fun read. One is led to believe the author is somewhat autobiographical in telling this story. Hmmmm, I have some doubts. However it had many funny moments and true emotions came through several places as well. I loved the wisdom and character of Hattie. I think the brother's living conditions were an insult to his intelligence as well as the reader's gullibility. No one would remain in that apartment if life threatening gun play was a regular occurrence. Even though I can't say it was a favorite read, it was well written and moved at a good pace. An entertaining diversion.

Surprisingly unexpected.

Honestly, I had no idea what to expect going into this book, but it was fun and quirky in an unexpected, yet completely expected, way.
How does this happen? The author takes a fairly saturated genre and ironically pokes fun at it while still giving the reader what they expect from a romance novel. Kate (the leading lady) talks about things she despises about romance novels...hunky guys with no brains sweeping smart independent women off their feet to just jump into bed...and turns out their love story, is actually NOTHING like what you’d typically expect. It’s like her own personal happily ever after catered specifically to her.
The book is smart and fun and sort of sucks you in without you even realizing it. 5/5

I'm not even sure what to say about this book. It was funny. It was a pleasant read. It was mildly confusing...
While the plot was fairly easy to follow as I read along, all too often, I thought I had a handle on the situation when new information came to light that threw my previous notions out the window. This did not make it any less enjoyable to read; it just kept me guessing right up to the end. At one point, I remember thinking it better have a truly epic epilogue to bring me enough closure. I was not disappointed.
Overall, this humorous, irreverent look at the romance novel industry is worth the few hours it takes to read.

Very Funny, Clean Romance
This is a very funny and romance about a romance writer. The story moves quickly with a lot of nice plot twists. The characters are well developed and are a bit quirky. The dialog and emotions seem real and believable. I am not at all sure why this is called a ‘Cinderella’ story. Despite the ‘blurb, I would call this a ‘no tissue’ read. This is the first of this author’s work that I’ve read and I will read more

This novel, like so many others, has failed to grab and captivate my attention. There are many different times that I can pick up a novel and cannot finish it at that time; however, I might be able to return to it at a later date. This is one of those, who knows, maybe next time it will be a game changer.
