3.5/5

LOL moments like when that lady from Tsugumi's past comes running in for a kissing contest with Raku that I painfully remember how much of a harem this series is *smh. However, on that note, I do respect Tsugumi for being happy for her mistress.

Also, I really like Maiko - he's so funny, and he does his best (albeit cheekily) to help out his friend Raku. This volume showed me just how much he does care about Raku.

4.5*

I have been very much enjoying this series, and this volume was no exception. I enjoyed getting to finally meet Chitoge's mother, Hana ("Madame Flower"), who is a workaholic that comes across as having no feeling whatsoever for her daughter. It was also fun seeing Ichijo work as Hana's secretary so proficiently, and earning her respect enough to be trusted by her, so that he could make a big change in her life.

Hana and Chitoge getting to finally spend Christmas together, after all these years, was a amazing. And, the truth behind the ribbon Chitoge always wears was not exactly what Chitoge always thought.

This series is filled with little surprises, and they usually make the story more interesting. I highly recommend it.

Thanks very much to VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, for giving me the chance to read-2-review this volume. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Another fantastic addition to the Nisekoi story, full of laughs and some surprisingly deep character building and progression. I'm glad the author is keeping the quality mostly consistant, as most manga start to fall into a rut around volume 6-8 or so (in my experience), but Naoshi Komi has done a fantastic job of keeping things top notch!

The plot is going no where. They are supposed to be looking for the girl whose key fits into Raku's locket. Is it Onodera or Kirisaki? Why are there three extra tsundere girls?

*spoilers ahead*

I liked reading this book, especially as I remember this part of the anime fairly vividly. It was heartwarming to see Raku working so hard to impress Chitoge's mom, and then to help them spend time together. Very cute! Also, it's cool that's Raku's the reason Chitoge wanted her mom to buy her that hair ribbon she always wears! I liked reading this installment of Nisekoi. I hope the rest of the book come into the library soon! 4 stars. Also, Tsugumi's friend is a cutie.

This is kinda a mish mash of a volume. Several random plots that are one chapter, though Ruri's glasses did give a bit of growth. The few chapters about Chitoges mom were actually really good and showed a lot of Chitoges character as well.
Overall I feel like this is goanna be a kinda meandering story but it should have plenty of good moments!

This is the perfect book to read in bits and dabs throughout a very busy day. Great reading for small breaks!

I'm bumping this series up to 5 stars for this book, which is unusual because this is such a typical harem manga, with the usual pre-requisite silliness, but the storyline about Chitoge's mother was absolutely beautiful. I loved how the whole thing resolved, and got a nice dose of the warm fuzzies as I read it.

Now I'm in the mood for Christmas!

Let's hope the rest of the series can likewise measure up from here. I like LIKING this book. :)

The first half of this was random filler and I hated it.
The second half though had a great deal of plot and was highly enjoyable.

Volume 7 of Nisekoi is, quite simply, heartwarming. There’s something deeply rewarding about how the series has settled into shorter, focused story arcs—each one designed to deepen character relationships rather than overcomplicate the larger narrative. This time, the spotlight falls on Chitoge and her strained relationship with her mother—and it’s easily one of the most emotionally resonant chapters of the story so far. The early chapters do a great job of establishing just how intimidating and work-obsessed Chitoge’s mother is, painting a clear picture of why Chitoge has grown up feeling distant from her. But it’s Raku who quietly steals the show here. For the first time, we see what so many of the girls may have seen in him as children—not the clueless rom-com lead, but a genuinely good person. The arc where he works himself to the bone just to free up time for Chitoge’s mother to spend with her daughter is deeply moving. He goes beyond his limits, not for love, not for personal gain, but out of empathy. Because he sees Chitoge hurting. Because he wants to help. That final stretch—Raku racing on his bike to the hotel, then the airport, and convincing Chitoge’s mother to turn the plane around by phone—is over-the-top in the best way. It’s cinematic. Bold. But what sells it is the quiet moment that follows, when Chitoge’s mother asks, “Do you still love me?” and mother and daughter finally begin to speak honestly. It’s an emotionally earned payoff, and for me, the high point of the series so far.

What’s most powerful about this arc is how human Raku’s motivations are depicted. He doesn’t help Chitoge because he’s secretly in love with her—he helps her because she’s suffering, and he cares about her as a human being. And in doing so, he becomes undeniably important to her. As someone who’s favored his bond with Kosaki until now, I found myself genuinely rethinking that stance. There’s a depth to Raku and Chitoge’s connection that’s quietly grown over so many shared moments, and this arc lets that growth shine. Even the lighter scenes complement the emotional weight beautifully. One that stood out was Chitoge’s desperate attempts to get Raku to notice her new makeup—only for him to miss the signals entirely. It’s funny, relatable, and honestly a little painful. My ex once went through the same frustration with me, and I can confirm: poor Chitoge’s plight is far too real. The way it’s portrayed is light, but authentic.

The only real sore point in this otherwise stellar volume is the state of Raku and Kosaki’s relationship. Their dynamic is beginning to feel… stalled. Worse, the delays are getting increasingly contrived. That Raku fell asleep right before their kiss in the last volume was already a stretch, but now Shu of all people—who told Raku in Volume 2 that Kosaki liked him—suddenly prevents Ruri from doing the same, citing vague nonsense about how Raku should “figure it out on his own.” It’s hands down one of the weakest moments in the manga so far. It contradicts Shu’s earlier actions and makes little sense except as a desperate attempt to keep the status quo.

Still, that one flaw shouldn’t overshadow what an excellent volume this is overall. The series feels like it’s reached a kind of equilibrium—emotionally honest, narratively balanced, and often quietly moving. If Nisekoi can continue to pair heartfelt arcs like this with its signature humor and charm, I’ll gladly stay along for the journey.

This volume was pretty weak. Full of overused tropes, events that are way too over the top, and nothing progressing the story. I expect tropes and over the top scenarios in a harem story but this one was out of place that I was happy to be done with it. I hope the next volume gets back on track because up until this volume it was a pretty enjoyable read.

The first 2/3 of this volume were like the earlier volumes (inane humor). But, the last three chapters about Chitoge's mother were worth reading; they even shed additional light on the mystery driving the story line. Thus, I gave this volume an extra star. Now, if they could just ship Tachibana and Shu to Siberia.

First of all tears! I LOVED how Raku tried to get Chitoge and her mom together. Shows he’s really starting to care for her more and more. Second, I love how Ruri actually TOOK Shu’s advice about making Raku and Onodera get together on their own. Shows he can sometimes be mature and knows what’s up.

I read this a while back so I don't really remember why, but I think this was my favorite volume so far! This series is full of cliches and I definitely don't believe that so many girls would be in love with the protagonist, but it's a lot of fun.

Paula McCoy. She has the same last name as my old fourth grade teacher...😜 She's on Tsugumi's side...

Oh, Chitoge💕

It's adorable how Raku noticed all those little things about her ALL ALONG and he just didn't say it😍

"Lookin' pretty good, mademoiselle."
