Home to Collingsworth #2

Home Away from Home

Rate this book
This Christian romance, Home Away from Home, is book 2 in the Home to Collingsworth Series and continues the stories of the Collingsworth sisters and their struggles and triumphs as they deal with their faith, the bonds of family and love!

Laurel Collingsworth-Davis thought she had everything she could ever want: a beautiful home, a fulfilling career, financial security and a devoted husband. However, at the beginning of their marriage, she and Matt--each for their own private reasons--had agreed to never have children. When her grandmother dies, Laurel realizes that she does, in fact, want to be a mother. She desperately needs Matt to reconsider his position, but when he refuses, she fears her storybook life may be over.

Matt Davis has very real reasons for not wanting to become a father; reasons he's never shared with Laurel. Now he realizes that in order to get her to understand, he may have to reveal more of himself to her than he's ever revealed to anyone. But doing that may very well cost him his marriage regardless.

Will Laurel and Matt be able to trust God to help them overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that stand in the way of them staying a family? Or will their fears drive them apart and end the marriage that had seemed so perfect?

There are two points I really like in this book; one has to do with Matt and the other Lauren.
Matt;
I like the way the author make him come to terms with the reality and application of God’s transformation of our soul at the new birth. It is a perfect example of how we are lacking in understanding of the extent of God’s work in our lives. This is why Matt could not trust himself to be a father.
Lauren;
Fearing that God will not give her the response or answer to her prayers about Matt and the baby. I can easily relate to this. The basic truth is the lack of faith or trust in God to do that, which is right for us.
She was right, because there are many situations where God could have done something prevented a seemly bad thing from happening but He did not so to say.
I such times we tend to forget the scripture that says to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.

Tear jerker

Well this is the second book in the series and I rated it a five star, again it was one that I could not put down.

I stronger recommend that if you were emotional with movies and TV series shows reading book that you do have a box of Kleenex because this is a tearjerker story. Well okay it was for me anyways.

Let's just say that Matt and Laurel had release of up-and-down issues throughout the story. One of the big issues was that when they got married that Matt told Laurel that under no circumstances is she to get pregnant he does not want any kids.

Laurel found out that she was pregnant and it was caused from being sick and while on antibiotics it takes the effect of birth control pills away.

Well I think you get the gist of the story so I'll stop right there and let you read the book.

Happy reading!

tissues needed. this book continues on with secrets being revealed to the Collingsworth sisters. Matt realises healing happens when the bad stuff is in the open n not hidden. We all need support when we struggle plus remembering God is wanting good things for us. Trust is a big hurdle but little steps need to be taken. Forgiveness. Second chances. Finding out you have another sibling and Lauren tells Rose she is her mother. Making promises of having no kids when God desires their be a baby!! what then do you do?

Like the first Home Away from Home, this one was just as great and enjoyable. I loved the turns and twists in the plots. The characters are funny, and the stories are addicting. You always want to know how someone's going to react, wonder how they'll find out this secret, if it will fall miserably. You see pain, fighting, joy, and resolutions in the book. However one thing spills after another, one conflict and then another. There's secret meetings, secret promises, and notes found. Absorb yourself in a book with wonderful yet crazy characters with surprising plots.

This one really pulled at my emotions, tissues were needed. I could not put it down, after reading just the first chapter I was so drawn into the story that I had to know what was going to happen. Loved the way the story unfolded. The theme from the previous book, secrets create problems, continued throughout this book. Honesty is really the best policy. I look forward to reading more in this series, I feel drawn to this family of sisters.

Such a good series. The author has thrown in some interesting elements that you'll just have to discover on your own. I read that each book could be a stand alone but I don't recommend it. You'll be missing much of the underlying themes and relationships unless read in order. I can't wait to see what progresses so I'm off to book three!

This one was even better than the last one.

I loved this 2nd book of the Collingsworth series by this author and it was much better than the last one. I read it in just a few hours. This one has many twists and turns. It wasn't predictable like the 1st book but I highly recommend that you start with book 1 because it tells the whole purpose of the series.

This was a different kind of story line. Laurel and Matt married a couple of years with an agreement to have kids, but when Laurel ends up pregnant it cause a separation in their marriage. I enjoyed this book better than the first but Violet and Dean played a roll in this book so got to see more of them.

I liked the premise of this story and the characters, but it just had too much angst for a short book. I think it would have been better for the story to have started with some happiness between Laurel and Matt to let us get a feel for the couple before all of the problems inundated us.

Good book

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first one. It wasn't as choppy, it flowed better. The sisters bonded and I really enjoyed Laurel and Matt's story. I am on to the next one!

gy good read.

The author seemed to dwell on two different subjects for a longer time than necessary. Even after exploring those subjects in detail, she continued to write about them to the end. Other than that, it was a good read.

Different from the typical romances in that it involves a married couple struggling with challenges from the past and trials in the present. I liked how the author really tried to show a couple working through challenges, even with a brief separation. Really well done.

Ack! This book made me so angry! This is the most unhealthy marriage for so many reasons. Everything they said and did just ticked me off. I finished it so I had context for the remaining stories in the series but that was my only motivation.

Trust in the Lord with a!l thy heart

What a beautiful story of love, trust, pain and honesty, as the Collingsworth saga continues.
The sisters are forming a closer bond. Matt and Violet go through some fiery coals, but come through stronger.
Wonderful book.

I had read book #1 a long time ago, and enjoyed it. I didn't feel I could afford the rest of the series at that time, but when I recently joined Kindle Unlimited, I went back and re-read #1, and then read this one. I really like the way Jordan continues the story line without any break, and the characters are all familiar. She does a good job with showing the conflicts between the characters and how the Lord helps them resolve things.

A Good Story of Healing

Matt had quite a few obstacles to overcome. It's good that Laurel had come to an understanding with God that through him all things are possible.
