Dead Again

Raymond Austin, author of The Eagle Heist, the first Beauford Sloan Mystery, continues to use his background in television to spin suspenseful and thrilling whodunits. His television credits as a director of The Saint. The Avengers, Hawaii Five-O, Hart to Hart, Magnum P.I., JAG, Airwolf, Spencer: For Hire, Vegas and Quincy, to name but a few, make writing this series so enjoyable for Austin. For the mystery series is ideally suited for the small screen.

Private Eye Beauford Sloan is back, and in this second Beauford Sloan Mystery series he is sent from his home in Virginia to the United Kingdom by the Lester Hancock Insurance Company where two have died. The first, a man insured by Lester Hancock to the tune of $20,000,000. The second, a Lester Hancock insurance investigator attempting to decide if the man’s death was accidental, or murder. PI Beauford Sloan, who as readers know resembles actor Wilford Brimley, has but days to solve the mystery. Or ... the insurance company must pay.

Booklist: “Remarkably likeable … Austin knows how to create detailed characters, dialogue that is both memorable and realistic, and an exciting plot. Excellent and a real find.”

Decent read

Although I enjoyed, it got a bit tedious at times. I found myself skipping paragraphs of nonsense from time to time. That may be just my impatience at times. That being said, it is enjoyable and does have a few interesting plot twists
