Set deep in the '80s SoCal rock scene, a lead singer on psychiatric disability with a mandate from God clashes with a supermodel dabbling in witchcraft.
Vivid, funny, dark and accurate, BEFORE THE FLOCK paints a piercingly insightful portrait of youthful energy and talent as it careens carelessly into the waiting jaws of the entertainment business.
I just finished this tantalising and perfectly prosed expose into the glamorous worlds of 80's Rock-n-Roll and Modelling. A riveting read, full of complex characters. And Sophie, the supermodel-- wow such a sad and superficial life. Made me feel thankful I never became a super model (as if that were ever a possibility!).... I was captured and connected throughout the entire book. It was a refreshing and unique read that I highly recommend to anyone who has ever wanted to live the life of a rock star or at least just get a closer glimpse... Read it, you won't regret it!!
i received this book for free through goodreads first reads.

With this intro, i already knew i had bread for my teeth. An other book that i could eat in one big bite.
Thank you for giving me the chance to read this beautiful book. It was more than i could imagine.
Before the Flock is for anyone who has ever been enthralled with the glamorous life of rock stars and supermodels, especially if you are from the big hair and big shoulderpad days of the 1980's. Before the Flock offers a revealing look at the underbelly of both industries; the people, the politics, the drugs, and the real costs of being a mega star. The characters are vivid and their stories waver between triumph and tragedy; they sacrifice everything for their art including their childhood, their sanity and their closest friendships.
This is the kind of book that you can't help but read cover to cover. A great story!
This book was one of my top 10 all time favorites. The character development was fantastic. In the beginning, I was not so fond of the members of the band, and by the last compelling page, I was overly concerned for their future and overall well being. If fact, I think of them often. This book will be exciting, interesting and allow for just enough self reflection. Enjoy!
