The Moffitts were a typical American family, until the caretaker of their ailing grandmother performed an ancient ritual intended for healing but instead unleashing a powerful and terrifying demon - one of the seven Princes of the Devil himself. Their lives would be torn apart as the malevolent entity haunted and tormented them for eight years, even following them outside of their home. Dozens of notable light workers came to rid them of this powerful, evil monster but to no avail. A promise of revenge from a past life was the bridge that brought him here, and the secret permission of one family member was what allowed him to stay. When the demon set his sinister intentions on an unholy, deadly blood sacrifice and the taking of an eternal soul, the family must fight for sanity, life, and salvation. This book is based on a TRUE story and proves that reality can be stranger - and more horrific - than fiction.
So poorly written it's almost impossible to read. Truly miserable. Even if you were to believe the author is retelling a true story, I challenge you to enjoy this. It's like reading a 6th-grader's dramatic retelling of a story he heard at summer camp. I only finished it because it is my habit an discipline to finish books. Don't make my mistake.
A couple of months ago I came across the story of the Moffitt family on one of my favorite podcast shows. I was intrigued by their predicament and promised myself that I would later dig deeper into their tale. I had never heard of a family so tortured by an entity other than the typical ‘Amityville’ movie that occasionally played on T.V. When I did purchase the book it provided me a much richer description of what took place in the home. The book is about a family that consists of Lee, Bill Sr. Bill, and Deborah; who are bombarded with both physical and mental abuse by a demonic entity. The entity is a force of evil that has decided to claim the life of one person and has caused perpetual mental trauma by isolating the family members from friends, family, and the general public. Obscene messages are constantly written on the mirror, walls are ripped apart, clothes are destroyed, and personal belongings are lost. To live in the home is to live in a horror movie.
The book was full of rich details about what happened to each family member. Nothing was left out and pictures were provided for the reader as well. I first must say that the story is very good, but the writing style is poor. I honestly believe that the story would have read smoother if it was told first hand rather than by third person removed. I believe that if Deborah herself had narrated the story it would have been an excellent book. I have to say that it is loosely based on a true story. I have a hard time believing about fifty percent of the actual haunting activities. It does seem like embellishments to me. Some things seem just too impossible to believe to be true. Overall I still am happy that I purchased the book. I did enjoy it and would still recommend it to those that enjoy the paranormal.
awesome book! kudos to the author for successfully capturing the terror the family endured. hats off to debbie for coming forward with the story. I'm wondering when the movie is going to start filming? they need to make a movie about this. at least a documentary. the only beef I have is this book is sometimes redundant, however, I think that's just part of the story. if you're into the paranormal or just in the mood for creepiness, definitely pick up a copy.
I struggled with how many stars to give this book because the content was very interesting & it kept me reading it & wanting to know what happened with the family, but it was poorly written. So I gave the book 3 stars because the story was really intriguing, whether or not it is actually true.
It was a really fun read. Spooky! Got through in about 2 days. It was based on a true story, but I'd love to hear the story behind it all. I've recommended it to a few people already.
