I Pre-Ordered Thorn by Marata Eros because I have been following this series from the very start, enjoying Mick and Faren's tale as well as the many larger than life characters around them; Kiki and Thorn in particular. So here we are - I've got my coy of Thorn and my hands are trembling, my heart trying to pop out of my chest - you gotta love a bad boy and Thorn is MY kinda guy <3

Opening the Kindle pages up I began to read Thorn's story, something I have been dying to know for a very long time as I am sure a lot of ladies out there have too! How can you not? This man just eludes pure sex, protectiveness and also kindness hidden underneath - similar to unwrapping a delicious Christmas present....... Thorn's story is not quite what I expected, we got a small snippet at the end of The Token 6 as to how it would all begin; his mother was hooked on drugs, beaten and by the sounds raped on a regular basis. His home environment growing up was disgusting to say the least and we have heard small bits here and there throughout The Token series as to the "Hood" where he grew up was like, the dirty streets how he had to fight for everything he had. We know that he was wrongly convicted for murdering Mick's Sister to whom the Black Rose strip joints are named after, he then became a cop - working undercover for Mick as the manager of one of the clubs. We have witnessed first-hand his unusual mood swings between kindness and almost anger laced with disdain for this weakness with Faren.

During his hypnotherapy regression, Thorn remembers a vital piece of information, a single name - Rex, the man who beat him and his mother, the man who scared his body with cigar burns so much so he when and had them covered up with full sleeves of Tattoo's to try and rid himself of the past abuse; but this man, this man is his father and now he has his name - Rex - now Pandora's Box is about to open with a force like no one ever expected.

The one woman who has always gone toe to toe with Thorn is Kiki, they are very alike and I always thought that they would get together but when Kiki introduces him to the exotic beauty Simone she is the one who sweeps the rug from under him and literally knocks him on his ass! She is the force of nature no one see's coming, not even Thorn and definitely not Kiki. This whirlwind of a woman swoops into their lives, turns everything upside down, inside out and rips the ground apart leaving them all blind to the danger that is coming for them all.

Sometimes is the past better left dead and buried? Or should you unearth it and rip it apart where it stands? For Thorn, Kiki and Simone there is only one option as soon as Shepard appears - Stand and be counted, stand and Fight!

I truly enjoyed reading The Token 7: Thorn, It opened my eyes and answered so many questions that I had about him, it reveals his true personality and character, why he is who he is and there are some impressive twists and turns that Marata Eros takes you down that will slam you right in the face because you will Not see them coming! Fantastic as always, this series has been sensational and I have already now Pre-ordered The Token 8: Kiki - What her story will Reveal......... WOW! 5 Stars All The Way!

My Rant: I have long awaited this release of Thorn and boy was the book what I expected an more. Marata starts this book with a kick butt beginning because you get the back story to Thorns hidden demons. You get to see why thorn could be such a prick but an amazing, sexy, alpha hero with attitude. When I began The Token Series I hated Thorn and his wishy washy attitude, that has all changed now. It was compelling to read such a moving story of perseverance. Thorn is Thorn and his past has shaped his development but what you get in this book is a emotionally impacted story. Thorn is trying to cope with all the recent events that has happen to his friend McKenna and Faren and that leaves Thron memories open to the past. His wounds are laid bare after the lost of his mother and now he has to put the pieces together to find some solace with himself. Just when Thorn has the nerve to confront his past, in comes Simone and her deep dark past. Thorn is struck by this mixed beauty and he begins to feel torn about being so attached to her and I cant blame him. Simone happens to be perfect for Thorn, She is strong, independent and a fierce character to be reckoned with. When Thorn and Simone collide you can feel the impact in the pages. Marata spins this loves story with so much aggression she leaved imprints on your imagination. The scenes are smokin hot and the romance between the two build with incredible momentum.

I was so glad to see my girl kiki is still in the story. She sassy witty and down right the home girl you need to have in a pickle. Kiki bring a lot to the story because some of her background is come into the light. Kiki has her own past but it seems she is going to have an interesting future because sin is an mysterious but wicked character and I love that about him. You get to see the chemistry between Kiki and Sin and you cant help to have your mouth water about the next installment of the series.

Thorn has a new villain and OMG he is ferocious. When Marata writes characters like this you get to see how dark and tormenting she can really be. This character has the hair on my neck standing at attention. The plot is full with action and a lot of emotional angst. Marata writing style is captivating and intriguing and you cant get enough of the Token Series and its drama and unbelievable cast of misfit characters that seem to find a way into your heart. I love Marata's work because she explores the unknown with her stories. She writes with such an intriguing and vivid flair that you cannot deny her talents. If you have not grabbed a copy of The Token Series you are missing out on a real treat that could sate your book frenzy addiction.

Oh an by the way did I mention that I am giving away all 7 e-books, so join in on the giveaway.

My Recommendation:

Overall I love this book and the Token Series. I rated this book 5 out of 5 Purple Rant Hearts and would recommend this book to anyone that loves a romance that is an emotional roller-coaster that is full of action. This book has all the elements of a great story with a edgy twist. . I will be adding the Token 7 to my favorites list.

FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the author, editor, publisher, or Promo Host. This is my honest opinion about this book and I did not receive any monetary compensation for writing this review nor was I obligated to write a positive one.

Marata Eros has outdone herself with THORN! Bringing us the back story of the mysterious, undercover cop/strip club manager; revealing why he is the way he is. Showing him in a completely different and totally likable, and, I can't believe I'm saying this, desirable light!

Thorn is still undercover, running the Black Rose strip clubs. Series favourite, Kiki recruits a new girl, Simone, who without a doubt has an instant effect on Thorn after a bungled but impressive audition.
During mandatory psychiatry sessions Thorn is confronted with repressed memories from his childhood and makes the decision to face and conquer the demons from his past.
French born Simone is in hiding and is just trying to blend in but her past inevitably catches up with her, bringing her and Thorn closer together, but not without turbulence.

This is another kick-butt read by the Marata. She never fails to deliver action packed, deep, tangled and emotionally draining stories that find their way into your heart.
The flashbacks to Thorn's horrific childhood an Simone's tragic upbringing particularly had an impact, leaving me numb and feeling ill with compassion and empathy.

Ms. Eros rivals JR Ward- author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, for her male POV writing ability! She has an absolute gift for it that resonates through all of her amazing books.
THORN has been my favourite installment so far, in The Token series, although I can't wait to read Kiki's story which is next!

Thorn
And the plot thickens……….the web Marata has woven with this series gets more intricate with every book she writes. It’s dark, gritty, raw, and so incredibly addictive.
If I’m being honest, in The Token 1, I was NOT a fan of Thorn…….at all. With each book in the series, and every new revelation, I found myself growing more and more fond of him in a twisted sort of way. Now, in Thorn, I adore him! In Thorn, you will delve deeper into the man…he fascinates me.
In Simone, Thorn has met his match, and these two will take you on a journey like no other.
~ Thorn ~ “I think of my anger, a vast well of bottomless rage. It makes me tired. Chasing me like it does. I can’t have a relationship without rage. I can’t have a relationship without trust. I don’t want to love a woman. It’s dangerous.” Simone changes all that……….”Simone wasn’t a one night stand or part of any plan. She’s a tornado, I got in her path and she swept me up.”
I think Thorn and Simone are two of the most bad ass characters Marata has written. I love them almost as much as Mick & Faren, and Cas & Jess (A Terrible Love/A Brutal Tenderness). Beautifully written, complex characters that will have you as addicted as I am, and have you craving more.

He has been a dark and mysterious character in The Token series, and finally, we get the lowdown on Thorn. Eros wrote a mesmerizing, dark tale of organized crime and the man whose undercover role in exposing it all.

Simone is a new potential employee for the Black Rose strip club. When a nefarious man appears claiming ownership of Simone, it draws out all of Thorn's inner protectiveness, which unknowingly pulls him deeper into the secrets of his past. Togethe,r Thorn and Kiki give Simone, an already kick butt protagonist, the help she so needs.

I was utterly shocked by the revelations that were revealed. I can honestly say, I sure as heck didn't see that coming more than once. Eros boggles and mystifies with her plot twists and turns, and leaves us wanting more.

This series has been magnificent, just when I think it can't get any better, I am surprised by another brilliant story that envelops me into the lives of her characters in this dark world of Eros' imagination.

I am highly anticipating Kiki's story!

I received this copy of Thorn from Tamara Rose Blodgett in exchange for an honest review.

I love that Marata Eros decided to continue on with the Token series with another three books making them based on three characters introduced into the original Token series books.

Thorn is up first and its a blast I really loved getting to know him better and see the other sides that make up this interesting character. Thorn oh you tortured beast of a man you. I really liked Thorn he has the weight of the world, you think he is the villain but Thorn is straight up.

His love interest the lovely and incredibly strong Juliette is amazing and a really intriguing character that has a past so incredibly dark your head spins. She is incredibly intelligent and well self managed for someone with her upbringing.

As a couple they connect immediately and believably, I loved the French connection also.

So much happens in this story looking back I cant believe how much was fit in.

This story has everything love, action, French a$$holes, unknown family connection, Kiki's hilarious take on the world and a dark terrificly told story that will entice you to want to read more.

All up another brilliant story from a favourite author I will most definitely be following on with Kiki and Chet's story....

For this to be a short I am blown away. I would have never expected the story that was presented. Although this book can be read as a stand alone I think it is better to read the series in order so you get a better understanding of Thorn. Some secrets would be ruined but nothing ground breaking of you don't though.

As for the story in itself. I would have never expected Thorn's past, aside from what we know, to be this. It's exciting, chilling, crazy and on some level could be a true story. Although I am happy with the ending even with all it's twist and turns the ending between Simone and Thorn is a little rushed. I bet we will hear more from them though as Kiki's story is next.

This was a very fast paced book. If you've read the other Token stories then you don't want to miss out on Thorn's story. There was a lot going on but I expected no less. It was very enjoyable. I wasn't too sold on "Simone" but she eventually won me over.

With Thorn's character for me it started and hate and ended in love. The more you read about his story from the beginning the more you feel for him.
