I expected Radical Next to be another book about artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Instead, what I found was a much bigger conversation—one that asks not what technology will become, but what we will become alongside it.
What stayed with me most is that Sam Rad refuses to frame technology as either a savior or a catastrophe. Instead, she explores the uncomfortable middle ground where AI, extended reality, biotechnology, and quantum computing are forcing us to rethink identity, relationships, work, faith, and even consciousness itself. Rather than predicting the future, she challenges readers to become active participants in shaping it.
I also appreciated how the book balances technical insight with philosophical reflection. Sam clearly understands the technologies she's discussing, but she never lets innovation overshadow the human questions at the center of the book. The personal stories and broader reflections make complex ideas feel surprisingly accessible without oversimplifying them.
