This was my first time Reading this author's work. I thoroughly enjoyed it will not be my last. I loved how Sandy was able to change the Marines way of thinking. The Marine was definitely a ladies man. But her l innocence and more convinced him she was very special. As I said before I thoroughly enjoyed it I was reading more of a books.
The writing is not bad, it flows easily and evokes beautiful images. The reason I gave it one star? I did not like the heroes and the handling of this story at all. Please skip the rest of this review if you don't like spoilers.
The heroine is a virgin who usually does one of the following three things: 1) Cooks a variety of foods, pies and sweets, 2) takes care of someone/ helps someone, 3) blindly obeys her (clearly insane and backwards) dad.
The hero usually does one of the following three things: 1) Thinks of ways to have sex with the heroine. He also never wears condoms because this is a romance book and how are you going to get the marriage/ child ultimate finale/cliché if he wears condoms, you ignorant fool!?! Sheesh! What do you mean, 'venereal disease'? Is that a kind of pie? 2) is overbearing, juvenile, presumptuous and VERY crude, 3) can't explain why this woman makes him feel so differently, but she does, because reasons.
Quotes: "His cock sang with electricity, then hardened like steel." "Best pussy in the world." "Sperm boiled in his hard spheres." "I can't wait to sample your pie, he thought, thinking the sweet pie between her legs was probably just as sweet as the pies she baked." "I'd much prefer friends with benefits," the hero thinks about the heroine. After two paragraphs: "You deserve a good man in your life." (Hm, what? How did we go from thought A to thought B?)
If you are still living in the 1950s and you want to read an easy book about a marine who feels extremely smug he was the first sexual partner of a woman (as in woman=object and virgin woman=brand new object, with tags on) then this book will rock your world. If you like your heroines experienced and with a bit of backbone, it will probably make you wince.
What a Beautiful love story after Braylon Captured the killer for Sandella's Family then proved that he wasn't the father of some chicks baby plus some more things don't want to give it all away lol Then he showed Sandella plus her Family why it's okay to fall in love with a Marine!!!!! ❤️❤️ This was my first time with this Arthur and most definitely want be my last now on to book # 2 in this series...Happy reading everyone ☺️☺️☺️☺️
This is my first time reading this author's work, and while it was a pleasant read, it was very predictable to me.
The author described the first meeting between the main characters as one of lust, especially on his part. She was a virgin but somehow, I didn't see the relevance in repeatedly mentioning it. The dialogue described what he wanted to do to her sexually, in such graphic terms that it got redundant after awhile.
The second half of the book where he reopened her mother's murder was a bit more interesting but was still predictable. The only surprise was the gender of the baby, in my opinion. The fact that his ex was claiming that her son was his and he had doubts but never took precaution when having sex. The story seemed disjointed too.
I can appreciate when writing a story, events and endings can happen anyway the writer wants it to; however this book was not only unrealistic but corny and although the author attempted to make the story line sexy it was a fine line crossing into a unappealing description. The writing style needs work along with the plot because it left me confused as to if the killer/rapist went to jail or died. Just all over the place! Then...once you're done there's a excerpt for the next book Marrying the Millionaire, if it's anything like Marrying a Marine then NO THANK YOU!"
This is probably one of the most poorly written books I have ever read. Not counting the typos, the writing itself was crude and elementary. There are better ways to write "love scenes" without being vulgar especially when the other dialogue is portrayed as coming from a more innocent place.
An enjoyable read! The way the past controlled the present was pointedly present in this novel, to the point where the hatred for the Marines was so intense one wondered what could break it. The author chose the love between Sandella and Baylor to do so and also the determination of Baylor to right the wrong done in the past. The inclusion of the story relating to Madison and Baylor's relationship was interesting, it would have been more entertaining to read what would have been the struggle of the writer had gone in that direction. Still enjoyed it!
Opposite as night and day. Hilton Head Island being the backdrop of this story is whimsical. You have suspense meets contemporary romance. As Braylon is the embodiment of everything Kane, Sandelle's father hates and distrust. Yet through it all with strong convictions to protect and survive. What was to be a bone of contention, became the healing in which Kane needed to give his blessing.
Mix in paternal drama and entrepreneurial dreams and you have a novella that makes you want to see what happens next.
First time reading author. Needs to get another editor. Please! After 42% of the book showed the creativity of the author. Then back to predictable at 79%. Sometimes I believe that the author had forgotten what was written. As examples: when the characters, "Sandella and Braylon" on the island alone, reference to "Royce" getting dressed was mentioned. The rapist/killer of "Sugar, mother" reference to him and father spending time in jail as both had been killed. The grammar was okay but most of this story is "yawn" 😴, predictable.
This was a very good book. Braylon and Sandella were so cute!!! This book was an emotional ride for me, but I'm happy Braylon was able to help out Sandella by finding her mother's killer. I'm also happy that they got their happy ending, despite Madison and her trying to come between them. First time reading from this author and won't be the last. Starting the next book to the series now. Great job
I love romance novels but this one was disappointing, some things were so unrealistic and I get that romance novels aren't supposed to make the most sense but geez this one questions our intelligence. Like as soon as he knows there is a secret he happens to find a box with all the answers. They start a business and all of a sudden she is producing hundreds of cakes but there is no mention of her baking any of them. I was very disappointed.

1st of the Hilton Head Series I like how the author tapped into a little bit of everything romance, suspense, and of course some babymama babydaddy drama to disrupt a new budding romance
I loved the story of Braylon and Sandella. The suspense made me want to read to the end of the book. I recommend this book to everyone who loves romance novels with a happy ending.
I enjoyed this romantic love story with it's sometimes funny, sometimes intense plot that is well written. Secrets, mystery, engaging characters and a likable h/h makes this a must read.
He a Marine and she works for his grandmother as a aide to his uncle. it was lust at first sight for both of them. But both things that could keep them apart. Her mother was killed and he may be a father. Can they over come these obstacles.
This has to be one of the worst books I've read in a long time. The H was a jerk and the h was so boring - the writing was juvenile and full of cliches - I rolled me eyes so many times I gave myself a headache
Sandella did good marrying her marine! This is a wonderful book with intrigue, mystery& love! There was a wonderful but overbearing father and brothers! Braylon worked for & got his girl in the end! You will not be disappointed!
This book was romantic and fun. The story line seemed authentic. The characters seemed and like the people in a genuine town real. The setting was beautiful.
