Read the 11th edition for my master's program and the author's blame Columbine on teachers not creating a positive enough atmosphere and supporting kids.

I stopped really giving a shit what they said after that, which is bad because it probably could be a decent manual on the hardest part of teaching. But if that's their attitude toward a horrific tragedy like Columbine, I can't take anything they say with less than a handful of salt.

This was the text for a doctoral class I took on behavior management. It's well written and contains a lot of practical solutions for educators dealing with students who have behavioral issues.

This is a quality textbook that is very rich in information. It has sections on the foundations of classroom management, creating a safe and supportive learning community, increasing student motivation and learning, and methods for altering unproductive student behavior. Naturally, many of this skills need to be practiced and honed in real life or one the job--reading about them isn't enough. However, this book provides and excellent introduction filled with specific examples, things to consider, and techniques to utilize.

Interesting book - I was impressed. I was worried it'd be about being authoritarian, but instead the viewpoint was that it's important that students also learn creative problem solving and conflict resolution.

There were so many good ideas in this book, that it's so far the only one that I'm not selling on Amazon. It's a keeper for now.

Some of the ideas should be common sense for teachers, but is a good reminder every once in a while. However, there are some great gems of ideas in there.

I read this for my MTE 523 class. Most of it was common sense but I did appreciate the different activities they provided for students to get to know each other.
