"Nord og ned" is a two-part story from the “Krüger & Krogh” series. The real strength of this work lies in its meticulously crafted depiction of mid-1960s Norway. A lot of research has gone into ensuring that the people and environments look authentic for the time period, with several prominent figures from the era’s politics and intelligence world making appearances. The story is deeply rooted in the Cold War and the looming threat of the Soviet Union.

However, the plot itself feels somewhat drawn out and didn't really need to be spread over two books. A bit more tightness would have helped. Some of the full-page illustrations don't feel detailed or significant enough to justify their size. While this is perhaps the most ambitious story in the series, it’s not the most successful. The first two albums were both more compact, focused, and exciting.

That said, I appreciate the ambition. It’s great to see them push boundaries, even if it doesn’t always hit the mark perfectly.

Brilliant. Superb drawings and a well written story. An adventure in the spirit of Herge and Franquin, Tintin and Spirou.
