This is a very short tale of a local São Tomé and Príncipe man who helps a young boy, gets arrested by the Portuguese authorities on a trumped charge and then wins the prize of dancing with the mother of the boy. It is a simple tale and at first the poor English being used in the writing was a result of a translation but after a while it actually added some charm to the story.

São Tomé and Principe. Short story in very basic English. Young man stands up for justice against “invaders” and earns the girl of his dreams. São Tomé is off the coast of Africa near Gabon.

São Tomé og Príncipe (Africa)

Could not find any other native authors from this country whose work is accessible to me.
I'm happy I didn't go with the longer short story collection. "It was ok" is really the best description for this short story. A very simple and sweet romantic story, with no meat to it whatsoever.
