England Solomon had tried to keep away from Dakota Holmes. Back when they were growing up, her parents had warned her many times to stay away from him because he was always getting into trouble. Then one day, after many years, their paths crossed again. His overwhelming charm had captured her heart. Has he changed over the years or should she listen to the warnings echoing in her mind and walk away?
This short story was a very painful read. I'm amazed something this short could make me suffer the way it did while I was reading it.
The plot is basically a cliché. Dakota was a poor boy from the wrong side of town. He only wanted to date England's sister. Many years ago, England encounters him on the street wearing expensive clothes. It turns out he has a lot of money now and England is desperately in love with him.
Yes, I know, it sounds as terrible as all those romance novels with millionares, billionares, etc. But actually, the most painful aspect was the plain prose. The author only tell us facts, it doesn't have a single description on it!
And to end with this review, let me explain why this story was completely unbelieveable. No, not for the millionare. England is madly in love with him, she cries for him at night but their relationship is based on a few dinners and some kisses. They didn't talk at all. So why did she fall in love with him? He isn't even interesting.
This one was the most simplistic view on love I've read about.
The story of England and Dakota proves that real love can stand the test of time.
***Spoiler Alert*** This quick little story tells the tale of England and Dakota. They met as kids...lost touch...grew up...and fell deeply in love with each other.
I enjoyed this quick sweet read and recommend it anyone looking for a feel good love story :)
