Wander #1
Wander and Roam
In the last year, Abby Bentley has failed out of college and lost her high school sweetheart. Unwilling to return home, Abby signs up to volunteer on an Australian farm, where she can hide away from her family and isolate to her heart’s desire. Best of all, no one will care about her past. Abby soon discovers she’ll be sharing most of her daylight hours--as well as a very small yurt--with the farm’s other volunteer: sexy, flirtatious Sage.
The more hours they spend together, the more conflicted Abby becomes. Torn between a growing attraction to Sage and faltering loyalty to her old boyfriend, Abby escapes to her refuge of writing letters she will never send. When Abby finally reveals her past, Sage’s secret about his future threatens their bond. With Abby running from her past and Sage trying to escape his future, can they build a relationship in the here and now?

1.5 “It had potential but ugh nop” Stars
Me throughout the whole book:
This book was so boring, predictable and just had terrible writing and plot development.
Do you know how you usually think a boring book is incredibly slow and nothing happens? Well, this book is the total opposite. Uh? Yes, is fast, too fast for my taste, nothing happened and yet at the same time, everything did in a millisecond. One minute I was reading about her thoughts on her ex and the next minute she would be kissing the other guy. She would be talking with somebody and in the next line she would have hiked 3km, everything moved so fast and there wasn’t a flow. Did I already mention that her mind worked like that as well? If you are explaining why a certain person has been your forever and everything you love and all that, but the next line you start saying “that guy makes me so hot, something I never did before, makes me tingle in places….” UGHHHHH. Just please no. Our main character is the most inconsistent character I have ever read in my life.
This book has something I have never experienced and I hope I never experience in my life, it was something like insta love but not really. Our main character sees this shirtless guy across the lake and says how hot he is and a minute later she is meeting him and already mentioning how her body feels tingly and blah blah blah, for fork's sake you meet him a minute ago. Another thing that was screaming how much I didn’t like this story was how much I was aching for more characters. I am the type of reader who likes to get deep with 1 one character, but because the author has so many of them it never happens. Well, in this book I was pleading for more characters because it was BORING. Oh and just if you haven't caught the fact I didn’t like this book, I guessed all the plot 10% into the story.
I thought about another thing that bothers me, actually, it has become my most recent pet peeve in books. I hate when sexual intimacy takes place in moments where they are so out of place. For example imagine talking about death or rape and then the next second you are having sex, personally, I feel I would never have a turn on after something like that. This book has a similar scene, not exactly with the topics I already mentioned but it was the worst timing and reasoning behind it.
Look this book is not what I call trash, because it did had potential if it was well crafted and better written. I just didn’t feel anything. Whenever I should have felt butterflies in my stomach I felt nothing. Whenever I should have been crying or feeling sad, I felt nothing. Whenever I should have been mad, I felt nothing. Maybe I am just a cold-hearted person, but nop I am sure this isn’t because other NA book has made me feel all of the above in the correct places.
I don’t recommend it.

What do you do when the world as you know it comes crashing down around you? If you are Abby, you run as far and as fast as possible. All the way to Australia and an isolated farm. Abby knows she is completely broken, but doesn't see a way out other than to withdraw from everything and everyone. The last thing she expects to find on the farm is a boy who makes her feel things she didn't think she would ever feel again.
Abby doesn't talk about her past, Sage refuses to discuss his future so they spend a few blissful weeks living in the now. But as Abby starts to come to terms with all she has lost and allow herself to feel again, Sage begins to pull away. At first Abby doesn't understand but once she learns Sages secret she will have to make a huge decision about where she goes from here.
This book...OMG...I feel like I totally had my heart ripped out of my chest, stomped on and shoved back in. At first, I was confused, not exactly sure what the deal was with Abby and her ex. It takes almost half of the book before you learn what happened and then it all starts to make sense...and then you start to notice the clues and see things Sage is hiding...and you can see the train coming but so hope you are wrong. Now I don't want to say anymore because I don't want to give anything away but allow me to go off on a tangent for a moment...
...those of you who follow my reviews know that there is really only one thing that I hate in a book, it is my ultimate pet peeve...while this one doesn't go there (yet) it is on that path. Grrrrr...this is a huge cliffhanger so you don't know where the story goes, and I am hoping with my fingers and toes crossed that it goes down the good path, not the bad one.
Ok, enough of my tangent...this started a little slow, like I said I was a little confused at first, but it eventually pulled me in and I couldn't put it down.
My thoughts:
POV first, from Abby
Quick hook or slow starter? 4 (it took a little while to hook me)
Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 4
Passion/Heat level: 3(just a little kissing, there are no sex scenes in the book, they are just implied)
Angst/Heartbreak: 5 (so sad and heartbreaking once everything comes out)
Cliffhanger?: Huge!! Can't wait to see what happens next.
Overall, I really liked it and can't wait for the next book to see where this story goes!
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This had potential but I couldn’t connect with any of it.

This story crawled inside me, split my heart open, and laid it bare for the entire world to see. I have discovered aspects of my own personal journey of grief throughout these pages, and it really made everything burst to life before my eyes. I wasn’t just deeply touched by this soul searing experience; my heart was broken and then surprisingly nurtured and tended back to life. I was given a precious and priceless gift of learning how to balance and live life without fear or regret. No value can be put on such a treasure!
Abby is lost in a world of emptiness, pain, and longing. No matter how far the waves of regret pull her under, she never fights against them. She has given up to the notion of living because she no longer has a reason or a purpose to go on. Isolation has become her world and loneliness her only companion. With nothing left to lose, Abby drags herself halfway around the world to continue hiding, but this time, life has other plans for her in the form of Sage. Sage is unlike anyone that Abby has ever met before, and the harder she tries to avoid him, the more relentless he becomes in trying to break down her walls of pain and despair. Will her strength give out and cause her to open up to him, or will she push him away and pull even deeper into herself and become completely lost in her all-encompassing grief?
I am completely in love with both Abby and Sage. They are as different as night and day, and yet they are exactly what the other needs. They are drawn by an unknown force to grow closer and dig deeper to find out all they can. As they get to know each other, they begin to realize that they have found the missing piece to their own soul. They provide a balance for each other; one’s yin to the other’s yang. While Sage breathes life back into Abby, she fills in the empty pieces of the puzzle that is Sage. Together life makes sense and has a purpose. Together, they can conquer the world.
Each beautiful character represented a unique and essential piece of the exquisite tapestry that is this story. Their own trials and pain served as a guidepost to both warn and encourage Abby and Sage not to give up, but to fight for their balance and their heart’s greatest desire. Giving up is easy, but fighting for what we want takes courage and ferocity. I challenge you to not take the easy road and just give up, but dare to push onward and fight for what you want. Grab onto your dream and never let go.
This is the first book that I have ever read by Anna Kyss, and she literally blew me away. I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what happened next, and yet I was trying to savor each and every word in order to get the full impact of her incredible story! I am beyond anxious to find out what happens to Abby and Sage as I hated to say goodbye to them. They are truly amazing and unforgettable!

4 STARS!
Wander & Roam is the first book in the Wander series by Anna Kyss.
This book was amazing and incredible! I loved reading this book. It focused a lot on facing your fears and embracing life: the here and now. Wander & Roam focuses on two characters: Abby and Sage.
When Abby loses her boyfriend and is forced out of her school, she flees to an Australian farm to run away from her past and her family's disappointment. There, she meets sexy and handsome Sage...
Anna's character development for Abby was absolutely stupendous! I could feel Abby's sorrow throughout the story and I wish I could have jumped inside the book and given her one of my ultra-fine hugs! Abby goes through a difficult stage of sorrow and despair, until she meets Sage who helps her to gradually heal.
Sage is the perfect example of a friend, brother, and lover combined into one person. He helps Abby move on and embrace her past rather than hide from it. Anna creates the perfect character Abby needs to come out of the darkness and into the light of life. Yet, along with his compassion, Sage has a secret of his own that could tear the two apart. Abby runs from her past, he runs from his future.
The chemistry between the two characters was really good. It wasn't too little nor over the top either. It was a good blend of both. Anna perfectly illustrates Abby's internal conflict between embracing the man who can help her forget or staying loyal to her first love and high school sweetheart.
The one thing that did disappoint me was the ending. I WANT TO KNOW MORE! I absolutely hate how Anna left the story! When I got to the ending, I almost threw my kindle at the wall. In my opinion, Anna left the story unresolved and basically at a cliff hanger. Since the sequel focuses on two different characters, I basically have no clue as to how Abby and Sage's story will end! Let's just say it wasn't a happily ever after.
Overall, Anna's writing definitely pulled me in and I hope that other readers will feel attached to this wonderful story. I hope Anna will write another book that focuses on Abby and Sage again and, hopefully, they will get the happily ever after they deserve.

When attending a book signing, I always look forward to being exposed to new-to-me authors. One such writer I had the pleasure of meeting at UtopYA2015 was Anna Kyss, an author of YA and NA romance, fantasy and dystopian novels. The gorgeous cover for Wander and Roam caught my eye and as soon as I found out it was the first in her NA romance series, my interest was piqued as these types of stories are right up my alley. Little did I know what a hidden gem this book would turn out to be!
The story centers around Abby, a college dropout trying to escape her past, and Sage, a philosophical adventurer with an aversion to discussing his future. The two meet as volunteers on an Australian farm. Working side by side, they form a fast friendship based on their mutual agreement that speaking of the past and present is off limits. As they focus on being in the “now,” friendship evolves into deeper feelings; however, their blossoming romance is threatened by secrets they are unwilling to divulge.
Wander and Roam is a breath of fresh air in the New Adult genre. Sage is far from your typical NA hero. He’s a thinker, a free spirit, a man who notices the magic held in quiet moments. He urges Abby to venture outside of her comfort zone and she, in turn, does the same for him. Kyss does a remarkable job of capturing the resulting self-discovery for both of these characters, a key element to this genre. The changes the two undergo aren’t just superficial. They are deeply felt and change the fabric of their lives as individuals and as a couple.
Kyss has a talent for evocative writing and infuses the book with descriptions of scenery and food that leave you feeling as though you’ve been transported right into the story. Putting all of this together, it would be incredibly difficult to read this book and not feel completely invested in Abby and Sage’s heartfelt journey. The book does end on a cliffhanger; however, their story will continue in the third installment in the series. I, for one, cannot wait to see what Kyss has in store for these two characters who now hold a special place in my bookworm heart.

If I had to sum up Wander & Roam using one word, that word would be refreshing!
Sure, there are many other terms I could have gone with to describe this work: suspenseful or sweet or thought-provoking, just to name a few. But in my opinion, this novel presents readers with so many fresh elements, that uniqueness supersedes its other auspicious qualities.
Lately I've read in the NA genre almost exclusively. It's hard not to notice that novels within it often follow very predictable patterns or formulas. Regarding Wander & Roam, however, Anna Kyss gives us some new material to consider:
1. Readers are given a very different type of hero to swoon over; he's not a brooding, tattooed, damaged alpha or a commitment-phobe famous musician/athlete. Instead, Sage (love the name, by the way) is introspective, philosophical, and unselfish--almost to a fault. He meditates and studies Buddhism, and his plans for the future involve volunteering and starting a family.
2. The setting and the context of the storyline are unique; I've never read anything else like it. Sage and Abby serve as volunteers for a WWOOFing program, in which they assist their host (Susan) in tending her farm based near Sydney, Australia. The existence of such a program was entirely new to me, and I enjoyed what description there was about sustaining that particular lifestyle and preserving/selling the farm's produce.
3. The author has chosen to imply sex scenes rather than to provide readers with explicit play-by-plays. I think this choice is a wise one, considering the novel's profound, emotion-laden subject matter. This way, the couple's physical relationship doesn't overshadow the deeper issues at hand.
Overall, Wander & Roam is an enjoyable read featuring two likable and deserving main characters. Be prepared, though, because this one ends in a cliffhanger! I'm already itching to get my hands on the next installment.

wow is this book ever amazing. I do not give many 5 star reviews but this one deserves it. The way the author writes the characters of Sage and Abby is absolutely amazing. Abby has lost a boyfriend and has not learned how to deal with the loss of this person. She hides out in her dorm room and eventually gets kicked out for not going to class or turning in assignments. To avoid the inevitable issues with her family as a result of this she sees an ad and takes off to work in Australia. When she gets to this farm she is going to work on she meets Sage. Now you can tell right off the bat that Sage has his own secrets but you will see what they are later in the book I won't ruin that surprise. What he does do is find the right way to get Abby to see that she isn't living she is just merely existing and there is more to life than that.
This book will touch anyone and everyone if you have lost someone close or just as a casual acquaintance. This book will touch your heart it will help you see yourself in that palace and if you have been there for awhile maybe even a place out. This book does have an open ending but it is not a cliffhanger. This author left it open for more books in this series. I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Please read this book it is an amazing story.

I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Anna Kyss and it most definitely will not be my last! This was by far HONESTLY the most beautiful, heart-wrenching and sweetest books I have ever read! I couldn't put it down and even though I have finished reading it, I know it is one of those books that will stay with me forever! I loved Sage and Abby's story! Abby running away from her past and Sage avoiding his future, find each other in the beautiful Australian farm! Anna's descriptions of local sites transported me to this beautiful land and I felt like I was right there with them! I ran the full gaummlt of emotions reading this book! No vulgar profanity or overly descriptive sex scenes were needed or even missed! I can't wait to read more of their story as the series continues! No cliffhanger ending - you are just left knowing there will be more to this story! Hauntingly beautiful and surprisingly sweet and satisfying read! A book you will want to revisit again and again! Anna Kyss has been added to the top of my MUST-READ authors!! Buy this book! You will not regret it!!

This was such a beautiful story! We all grieve and handle life in different ways and I loved how Abby and Sage were able to help each other just by being themselves. This a wonderfully written story about Abby running from her past by just existing and not really living and Sage who is to scared to think of the future. This story and characters will draw you in and make you feel. I fell in love with Abby and Sage and I absolutely can not wait to see what happens next!

This is a beautiful heartfelt story. Sage and Abby will have you on an emotional roller coaster. The details of this book are so well written that you feel like you are right there with them. This is the first book I've read by Anna Kyss but I will definitely be watching for the next book in this series to see where Sage and Abby go from here.

So the brave girl conquered the dragon of her past and discovered the magical land of life. She went on to love often, live life heartily, and embrace every new experience. She found her happily ever after.

Intriguing and dramatic and the romance was just right.
GRA: Little bit o' language and some innuendo, IIRC.

Wow heartstopping
This book was amazing. I cried a lot. So many heart breaking moments. Loved Sage. Abby just needed to grow and Sage helped her. Their love was fantastic.

WOW. There are hardly words to describe what a beautiful and breath-taking story this is. I feel so honored to have gotten the chance to be a part of Abby and Sage's lives. The vulnerability and raw emotion in this book is thick enough to swallow. Get you tissues ready, friends, because you will definitely be getting a case of the feels in this book! If you need more convincing, know that I finished this book in a single day. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am definitely adding it to my re-readable-worthy bookshelf.
Abby is running from her past, trying to escape the consequences of her not being able to let go. She is grasping onto her past so hard that it's hurting her. She tries to heal on her own, shutting out the world by isolating herself. Here, it's safe. But she's unable to move on. She doesn't want to let go, doesn't want to forget. Sage is running from his future, trying to push it far enough away that he won't catch up to it. Both of them venture to Australia to get away from it all, to be in a place where no one knows them and no one will ask questions. It is a place where they each can find a few weeks of contentment. Australia was something they chose, something they could control.
~~"But do I have control over anything? I couldn't control when Robbie left, after all. I'm failing to control my attraction to Sage. I cannot even control the tidal wave of emotions trying to wipe me out. Maybe it would be better just to go along with my life and see where it takes me, instead of fighting it every step of the way." (Chapter 6)
~~"Holding onto Robbie for so long has been destructive. ...By refusing to let go, I nearly lost myself." (Chapter 19)
I completely fell head-over-pillow for this book! It is told from Abby's POV (point of view) and we get a glimpse into her thoughts and inner dialogue. Overall the book is pretty clean, which I love!!! I don't remember any swear words and, though there's plenty of times where I blushed right along with Abby, there are no detailed details that derail the beauty of their relationship. You get what I'm saying? You buying what I'm sellin'? There's plenty of smoochin' but everything is hush-hush and stays PG. A lot of times authors add intimate moments that don't really need to be read about; a book can be plenty romantic without all the naughties.
Sage is one heck of a cutie! I mean, how could Abby NOT fall for him. Since her and Sage are the only two volunteers on the green farm in Australia, they are also sharing a hut, I mean, a yurt. I know it's unthinkable that they start to fall for each other, after all, it's not like they're spending 24 hours a day together for a few weeks. Sage has such a great outlook on life: he lives for the moment and concentrates on making the world a better place, in the little ways that he can. Here's a little taste of his swoon-worthiness. ;o)
~~"Good morning sleeping beauty." Sage hands my a tin cup full of steaming coffee. "Two sugars, no cream, if I remember right." He took the time to memorize my coffee likes. To hide my smile, I raise the cup and sip. The hot liquid nearly scalds my mouth. "Careful, I plan on using those later." He traces my lips with one finger. "Try not to burn them." (Chapter 17)
Sage and Abby's story is filled with overcoming personal tragedies, budding friendships, and hilarious conversations and witty banter. But mostly their story is about growing and healing: healing by accepting the things you cannot change or control, healing by learning not to carry all of your burdens alone, and healing by letting go and losing yourself in the 'now'.
The past and future don't define you... You cannot alter the past, neither is the future written in stone. The best thing to do is to make memories of the life you are living right now.
Live in the present.
Live in the moment.
Live in the 'now'.
~~"You can't get more in the 'now' than that," Sage whispers in my ear. "Abandoning your fears to the pleasures of the moment? Wicked hot." (Chapter 13)

Look for the next book in the Wander series in late 2014!

Wander and Roam is a book that will steal your heart! This book begins with a very depressed and isolated Abby, a young woman who is grieving the loss of her first love. She has isolated herself in such a way that she has lost her friends, her family is losing patience and she is no longer allowed at her university. It takes a letter of dismissal from the dean to send her on a journey of healing and grieving that will forever change the path of her life. She decides to take a leap and get as far away from home as she can. She ends up volunteering on a farm in Australia, where she meets Sage, a handsome, flirtatious fellow worker, who shares his time and space with her. As their friendship deepens and their connection grows, Abby must choose what is in her future. She must let go of the past and take a breath of fresh air and head in the direction of her heart and life. As they grow deeper together, secrets are revealed and emotions run high. They must decide what they want from life and what they will do to have it.
Let me begin by saying that I had never heard of Anna Kyss until this books was available for me to read and review. It sounded like a fun story and I am so glad that I took that leap. This story was great! It was a story of healing and life. Abby is a strong young woman who has dealt with so much more than any 19 year old should ever have to deal with. She has isolated herself because of her grief. Her struggle with grief and loss is so well portrayed and written. It is not taken lightly yet not over dramatized. Instead, you feel Abby's emotion and pain. As the reader you can understand the rut she finds herself in and her hesitation to move out of the rut and embrace life again. She is a brave woman. She may have been running from reality when she went to Australia, but she inadvertently took a step toward freedom from her past, being able to heal and remember the good and not the overwhelming bad. When she meets Sage, there is an instant chemistry that causes her some anxiety. Her confusion is well written. Many books will display this issue in a way that is full of such drama and angst, yet Abby is attempting to heal and validated in her emotions in an authentic way. She is able to take a step back and see what is happening, even when she is terrified of the end result. As Abby and Sage work side by side, their friendship and attraction grows. The story never seems rushed. Sage is patient and kind, someone willing to listen and embrace living in the now.
When they first made their agreement to only talk about the present and not the past or future, I was nervous about what Sage was omitting from his life. When he discovers about her past relationship with Robbie and what happened, I was terrified. As a reader you seem to know something is about to happen and then when it does, you still have the wind knocked out of you. That is how this felt. It was heart wrenching. And the ending... WOW, I was ready for hundreds of more pages in this book, yet Anna shows us what we need and then leaves us to wait for more. Well played.
Overall, this book is an incredible New Adult story about life and loss and the journey to finding yourself in the chaos. I am excited for the second book in the series! I cannot wait to see more of Abby and Sage, to see where their story leads! Make sure to check this book out and prepare for a sweet love story in the land down under.

Let me start with the narrator which can be a deciding factor to any book that I listen to. It can decide whether or not I will listen to a book from start to finish in a few days or over a lengthy time frame or they are not doing the story justice and I stop listening. The narrator Shiromi Arserio did the book justice. Her eventone voice and the way the story leaves you wondering what will happen next was right on the mark.
Now the story itself. I feel in love with the 3 main characters. The author keeps the listener or reader wanting to learn more about the main character Abby. As the book opens up you think why this young teen throwing away her college career with bad academics. Who is this Robbie? And why are her parents the way they are!
Abby leaves very subtle hints about a relationship with her boyfriend Robbie. What has happen to what seemingly seems to be a bad relationship. However, as the book moves forward keeping the listener/reader guessing till her day in Sydney, Australia with the next main character, Sage. She reveals the reason behind her relationship with Robbie.
Sage as the character meets Abby for the first time. You find yourself falling for him right from the start. How the flushing Abby feelings are confused since she is there in Australia to work on an organic farm to clear her head (okay run away) from her feelings for Robbie. She wanted the solitude to try and see if she could come to terms with the relationship. As she writes letters to Robbie and putting them in these purple envelopes will she send them or are they part of something else?
The next character Susan, the owner of the organic farm. She is a good grounding character between Sage and Abby. Her young and good advice leaves Abby thinking she is butting in to get her and Sage together. But, as the story winds down becomes the friend that Abby never thought she could have. Learning the backstory to Susan's life on the farm.
So as to not spoil the listen/read this book actually had me welling up with my own emotions of losing a love one. This book really caught me off guard (in a good way)and at the end of the listen hoping for more of Sage and Abby coming in Book 2. At least I hope they are part of the next book. But, leaving the reader with the feeling there is always a second chance in life's loves.

Melanie's Book Review:
Wander and Roam by Anna Kyss is filled with lots of emotion. Though both Abby and Sage harbored secrets that were so deeply felt, they both navigated through life completely differently. While Sage wanted to experience everything that life had to offer, Abby stopped living afraid to drown in the guilt of enjoying life. It is when they come together in a secluded area in Australia volunteering for WWOOF helping a single mother who owns the Organic Farm that Abby learns to let go of her past and begins to finally live. However gratifying it was for her, it soon becomes short lived once Sage’s secret is revealed.
So here’s the thing. I loved absolutely loved the cover and the blurb; these were the reasons I picked it up in the first place. However, I felt that both secrets though quite predictable were just way too drawn out for my taste. I get Abby’s apprehension after experiencing something quite painful for someone young but the way in which it was delivered—the open ended questions and letters to try and draw me in just didn’t quite work for me. I felt like their secrets kept Abby and Sage apart more than it connected them together. I was frustrated by this because well, the idea behind it had way too much potential for it to fall flat but unfortunately it did for me.
What I did really enjoy about this was the message behind Sage and Abby’s stories. It reminded me how important it is to live in the moment; their experiences brought this to the forefront. Our past and our future shouldn’t dictate how we should feel about the “now. The way in which this was delivered was poignantly done.
I hope that whatever Anna Kyss has in store for Sage and Abby as their story continues showcases their coming together rather than what is keeping them apart. I am also quite disappointed that the next book in the series is instead of Sage’s best friend and Abby’s cousin instead of continuing their story straightaway (I also didn’t appreciate the note at the end of the book behind the reason why). So if you’re in the market for something packed with angst and tears, I’d say give Wander and Roam a chance as it might hit a much deeper chord for you than it did for me.

'Wander and Roam' is a romance set on a farm in rural Australia. It is narrated by midwestern Abby, who is running from her past, and centres around her relationship with fellow American Sage, who is hiding from his future.
I was initially attracted to this story by the setting, and at times Anna Kyss is very good at evoking a sense of place, particularly when Abby and Sage explore Sydney together. Unfortunately, though, I felt that the backdrop of the farm itself was a missed opportunity. I didn't ever really feel as though the place was fleshed out.
The first half of the book has some pacing problems, primarily due to the fact that it over-relies on foreshadowing and withholding information from the reader. I guessed fairly early on what Abby and Sage were keeping from one another, and felt that keeping those secrets from the reader too did little for the story. The pace picks up after the first "secret" is revealed, and I found the second half much less plodding than the first - however, I still wasn't as engaged with the characters or their relationship as a romance demands. I felt that a lot of the characterisation was of the told-not-shown variety, and that both of the main characters were a little one-note - particularly Sage, who is referred to as "different" and "unconventional" but to me came across as a rather clichéd portrayal of a modern hippie. Conversely, Abby's exclamations at his vegetarianism and interest in Buddhism made her seem somewhat provincial and closed-minded. It was hard to see what real basis the two of them would have for a relationship, and the narration spent more time talking about the characters' feelings than actually making me believe in them.
There are a few instances of slightly clumsy phrasing, and I found one or two typos, but on the whole the book is well edited and very well formatted
I received this book free of charge from the author in return for an honest review.

Here’s what I learned from this story…you can’t run from reality but, sometimes, when you do, good things happen. This book was filled with heartbreak and joy at the same time. Both Abby and Sage are facing difficult challenges in their lives and neither wants to deal with it at the moment. In their attempts to run away from the pain they’re feeling, they meet each other and discover that having someone to share your load is better than facing it alone.
Abby’s past overwhelms her and she’s not ready to move forward. Sage wants to live in the present to avoid what’s coming in his future. And, as they try to live in the here and now they begin to realize that although you can hide from reality, it has a way of tracking you down. I loved both of these characters and my heart hurt for them. It takes a while to get Abby’s complete story and, because of that, it feels a bit slow at times. However, once you understand, you begin to see the connection to Sage’s…and then your heart shatters, and you hope that you’re wrong, and you try to run away from the reality just like they do. But, as I said in the first sentence of this review, you can’t.
In this book we’re treated to characters who are mature beyond their years and who have faced situations that many of us cannot understand. Sage is introspective, intelligent and sweet. Abby is strong, smart and sensitive. And together they’re able to face fears and overcome sorrow. I would have loved to have seen some of this through Sage’s POV because he was a bit of a mystery at certain points in the story and it would have been great to hear his thoughts as well. Overall, this is a very good book with great characters and wonderful writing. It definitely brings all the feels so be ready to get misty and maybe even shed a few tears! I definitely recommend it!

I listened to the Audible version of Wander and Roam: Wander Series, Book 1 by Anna Kyss, which is a sweet story about lost love and rediscovery of oneself. I'm a big fan of Anna's fantasy series,The Underground Trilogy (Wings of Shadow and Wings of Memory, so far), and this story is a worthy entry into contemporary new adult.
The story centers around Abby who is kicked out of college for failing to attend classes after losing her high school boyfriend. To help mend her broken heart, Abby volunteers on an Australian farm, where she meets Sage who is also running away from reality. They inevitably form a friendship, with Sage slowly pulling Abby out of her shell. The best part of the story is when Abby finally realizes that "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all," which just happens to be one of my favorite quotes by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Unlike Anna's other books, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. We are not given much back story for either of the lead characters, and Abby's angst and feelings of hopelessness gets tiring. It reminded me a lot of how Bella lost herself while missing Edward in the second Twilight book. Also the story just ends. I have a good idea of what will happen in the next book in the series, and perhaps it would be better to include both books in one volume?
Shiromi Arserio's narration was solid. She had differing voices for both male and female leads and she did a very convincing Australian accent. Good job!

*Received copy in return for honest review, all opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review*
I thought this book was okay but it wasn't one of my favorites, the author, Anna Kyss did a wonderful job writing and with the story line but the first half of the book was a bit boring and melodramatic for me. The characters are great, the sadness in them both is over powering and it was quite obvious that Sage is running away from his demons, just as Abby is running away from hers. As soon as Abby's story was fully told I already predicted the outcome of this entire story.
After Abby shared her story with Sage the book picked up and I started to enjoy it much more. I started to connect with Abby and Sage and feel for them, from that point on Anna Kyss wove a wonderfully haunting story of loss and what we can and will endure when we love. This is a good book that had me on a roller coaster of emotion, had amazing detail and heart warming characters. I am dying to find out where this story is going to go from here.
If you are interested in a story that will tug at your heart strings, have you entranced in a whirl wind romance and having you begging to know what is going to happen next, than this is a book you should give a read!

The title is basically the whole book in a nutshell.
Two are brought together by a slew of decisions brought about by the skeletons they both refuse to face. One refuses to see the finality of her past. The other veers far away from thoughts too close to the future and chooses to be in the now. Days pass; their tentative relationship soon turns anew when a free weekend is given to the two, but the secrets holding Abby and Sage back are the very ones that may curtail their bout of something more than friendship.
The story was a sweet one, but I didn't feel for any of the characters. There was somehow no depth to them. It would have been nice to have a little more of a backstory - their family life, their life with friends et cetera -that pertains to them. At the end of the book, there was still a question of who are they? Sure we know of their situation, but that's just it. Their secrets are the only things that define these two leads, nothing more. Take those (secrets) away, a blank slate. That's just me. Sadly, I knew what the end would be early on in the read.
I really wished for more, but all in all my enjoyment of the setting was what kept me and being able to travel along with them. I'm totally living vicariously in this book!!

Nicole came over to Abby (Abigail) room. She hadn’t been out of it for quite some time. Nicole gave her the mail from Erie U; Notice of Academic Dismissal. Robbie Williams was her B/F.
Fast forward & Abby is back in Ohio. Later she volunteers to go to Australia. She meets Susan, little Zachary & Sage. Susan owns a produce/fruit farm. Sage & Abby work for her & are becoming quite close. Abby needed to write to Robbie.
Sage & Abby were off to Sydney.
What is Abby hiding from Sage? Where is & what is wrong with Sage?
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well bizarre mysterious fairytale romantic written book. It was very easy to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment.
No grammar errors, repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great romance movie or mini TV series. 1 I did not put down. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.
Thank you for the free book

"I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review."
I would first of all thank Anna Kyss for sending me a copy of her book. It was good read overall. I really enjoyed the plot. But I wanted to get more of the Australian spirit which was not exploited enough, in my opinion. I liked the characters especially Sage which was very easy to get attached to. I liked his personality which cannot be compared to any books i have read so far. The concept of living the life in the « now » was really interesting. Abby’s past was a little too much so times, it became kind of redundant. I just wanted her to stop living in the past. SPOILER: which happened but a little too late. After Abby’s grief i felt that Sage disease created too much drama for one book. This is probably why i didn’t really like the last 20% of the book. On the other hand, this novel was well written and delightful read. delightful I would advise people to read this book. I am looking forward to read the sequel !
I give this book a 3.75/5.

Thank you Netgalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review!
Although this book was not my favorite, I did enjoy reading it.
The story follows Abby on her story of love and grief. Abby meets Sage when she volunteers to work on a farm in Australia that Sage is also working on. Both Abby and Sage have their own things that they are running from, Abby from her past and Sage from his future. Then must learn to face what they are running from and learn to accept and grow from it.
I really liked how the story was written. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. Sage was such a perfect person for Abby to move on from her past and he was so great with her. I loved the suspense leading up to finding out what they were running from. And they ending cliffhanger definitely made me want to read more!
Overall I would recommend this book to friends and family. I thought it was very well put together.
