Sathyan Anthikad has always been one of my favourite movie directors of Malayalam cinema for his simple narratives. His style and way of storytelling is innate and unique. He also comes across as a very plain Malayalee who adores his land and culture. His plainness is quite evident in this book where he rakes up his memories about his parents, early days of his career and his colleagues. He elaborately writes about the Thrissur pooram, his experiences seeing the pooram and compares the current poorams as that of old times. The book is a pleasant read. It has witty conversations and reminiscences with Innocent, Sreenivasan, Lohithadasan, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, etc. The book is as good as his movies for its simple narration and his modest character. I’m not going to miss any of his books from now on.
