Dagney Rhodes pushed her blonde hair behind one ear, round cheeks pink with a flush of emotion. “We know discord is the last thing we need right now.” At least someone understood it. We had to work together, to trust each other. Our separate ways, the privacy witches clung to, the secrecy, had to stop. At least, to the point we could go to each other with problems and ask for help without losing face. “But our numbers are so reduced.” The Rhodes coven had once been over two hundred witches, now down to just over twenty. I knew personally. I saved them from the Brotherhood the same day their beloved leader, Violet, was killed. “And we are helpless if the Brotherhood returns to finish us off.”
“We’re proposing a second layer of connection,” Karyn Barrett said. “A shadow council to watchdog the NAWC. And we want you to lead it.”
It’s been six weeks since the near-destruction of North American witches, six weeks since the Brotherhood stripped the territory of its Council magic. Nervous times are only intensified as the other paranormal races begin their own power struggles, drawing Syd and her friends into a seemingly endless spiral of complications. Add to that her frustrating search for the next piece of Creator, and Syd has her hands full. Too bad she’s about to discover not everyone she trusts has earned her faith…

Syd is my guilty pleasure, the washing can wait so can the household chores as I sit down and start reading the latest book. Such a great bunch of characters and the storylines explore the abilities and fragilities of the characters who are strong at times yet still vulnerable to those they love most of all. Never a dull moment in these books which are full of action and adventure, romantic interludes and laugh out loud moments where Syd's "Foot in Mouth" takes hold although she is learning to think before she opens her mouth these days.
I've read all the Hayle Coven Series and now I've read all the available Coven Destinies Series bar one so I am officially hooked. You would think that after so many books the story would get old and boring but that never happens. I literally cannot put the book down and have to read it straight away. I am so grateful that Patti is such a prolific writert as I don't have to wait too long for the next book in the series.
I've read all the Hayle Coven Series and now I've read all the available Coven Destinies Series bar one so I am officially hooked. Still hooked
I'm still hooked on this world and on Sydlynn Hale, a younger version of me, with her big mouth, her temper and loyal heart. (Now if only people loved me like they do Syd.) In this book, though, Syd finds herself more alone than ever as the threat grows and her friends and the paranormal alliance suffer growing pains of their own.

Holy. So much to say but will NOT spoil this for anyone! Ohhh that Eva Southway...she really pisses me off. And Quaid Quaid Quaid...how about a little bit of common courtesy huh? My mind is going in a million different "what if -blank- happens, then what?" scenarios. Next please!
