I have never before seen a book so organized, categorized and indexed. Everything you want to know or find is literally right at your fingertips and that is rare in these types of books. This 271 page volume is the accumulated result of one mans journey to knowledge, transformation and enlightenment on a path that was most difficult and filled with personal pain. The author did a wonderful job of sharing his story and how he came across his wisdom by citing experiences and sources which he gathered along the way. The book is filled with strategies, tips, lessons, ideas and inspiration to get your own life to it's most optimum and enjoyable state where you can br free of the typical baggage or dysfunction and truly life your destined purpose.
“Missing Links”, as the author says, are some of the essential skills, habits, faculties and processes that we lack or that we have lost. In order to become once again authentic and complete human beings we need to reacquire them. By complete human beings, I mean individuals who are truly 'empowered,' happy, healthy, creative, prosperous and free. All of this implies wholeness, emotional maturity and connectedness.
Discover the Missing Links deals mainly with self-transformation and behavior modification so that you can finally live the life you were meant to live. This is a great book to get you started in that direction and author Daniel Petra is an amazing guide.
*Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book as a result of a GoodReads giveaway and this in no way has influenced my review.
One of the primary reasons people are unsuccessful accomplishing personal change is that they burn out after trying too hard. I have had problems with this very issue on numerous occasions. I think I try to change too many things at once. According to Daniel Petra's "Missing Links", change is best accomplished through numerous small changes or 'baby steps'. This is actually really useful advice. At times, this book was reminiscent of Robbie Vorhaus's "One Less. One More." Both are really good self-help books that contain actual, usable advice for accomplishing change and personal growth. The advice is solid, uncomplicated and can be used by anyone. There are no weird subliminal tapes to buy, strange rituals or expensive products to buy, just good, old-fashioned advice on how to accomplish goals - one step at a time. The author does not represent the book as the panacea for all life's' ails, rather Mr. Petra gives tools and advice readers can use for self transformation and behavior modification. Overall, this is a very solid book. It is organized well and easy to understand. I won a copy of this book from the Goodreads.com website.
I am very impressed with Missing Links. I love self-help books and find that they can be a useful supplement to talk therapy, or used alone. Missing Links by Daniel Petra explains what we know instinctively that by trying too hard to change ourselves we can become exhausted and give up. Therefore, “baby steps” can be an effective method of change in the process of giving up bad habits or acquiring new ones. Baby steps require less effort and can seem to promote a seamless transition to a better life.
Many aspects are covered including our creativity, setting priorities, deepening our self-awareness, getting over past hurts, and much more. I think you will love Missing Links if you have ever wondered if you could be happier.
This incredibly comprehensive book raises the most important questions of our time. If you are looking for inner growth and fulfillment, you should definitely read this book. It points out the lack of authenticity and wisdom that prevents us from living our lives to the fullest. ...
