The Last Riders #4

Shade's Fall

Rate this book
Shade is everything Lily doesn't want in a man. He's rude, obnoxious and he's definitely not a cowboy. The tattooed enforcer for The Last Riders is a mystery Lily doesn't want to solve. He's too much for her to handle, especially with the nightmares from her past constantly threatening her sanity.

Lily is everything Shade wants in a woman. She's sweet, kind and submissive. When she discovers the truth about The Last Riders, it threatens to tear apart every relationship within the club. Her rebellion causes the predatory instincts to rise in the ex Navy SEAL sniper.

When The Last Riders are threatened by another motorcycle club just as determined to claim Lily, Shade is her only hope of surviving the approaching confrontation. Could their passion be Shade's downfall?

Warning: This work of fiction is intended for mature audiences only. All sexually active characters portrayed in this ebook are eighteen years of age or older. Although 'Shade's Fall' is the fourth book in 'The Last Riders' series, it's the third one I've read. I just couldn't hold out any longer for Shade and Lily's story. So, even though Knox's story was next in line, I skipped ahead.

Compared to the first two books, 'Shade's Fall' opened with much more suspense and tension. I immediately questioned whether or not I should've skipped the third book, because the opening scene made it clear that some major events transpired that had a big impact on Lily. The story opens with Lily in the hospital, following an attack that took place in the third book.

Shade decides that he is no longer willing to wait in the shadows. He wants Lily and nearly losing her has made him impatient to claim her fully. He is determined to "own" her.

While Lily was often portrayed as a shrinking violet in earlier books, she gradually came out of her shell in this book. I enjoyed her snarky comments and digs. She may have been passive, but she found a way to get her point across. I loved her stubbornness and tenacity. As more of her past came to light, it became clear that she was probably the strongest of the characters, in fact.

While Shade engaged in plenty of slutty behavior while waiting to claim Lily, much like the other "heroes" of this series, I appreciated that the author didn't seem to rub it in my face this time around. He was no angel, but once he decided he was going to pursue Lily, he ended his manwhoring. He seemed to treat Lily with more respect than earlier heroes in this series. It was clear that he cherished her.

I also liked that Shade put in the work for Lily. Yes, he was high-handed. At times I was outraged, thinking, "Who does this guy think he is?" However, he bent over backwards to make Lily happy. He was far less fickle than earlier heroes in the series, demonstrating patience and holding her in high regard. In fact, he's the first of the men in this series to show any sensitivity to the feelings of the woman they claim to love, in my opinion.

Lily continues to have the worst luck ever. It seems that every time she turns around, somebody is trying to kill her. She always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is pretty amazing that she continues to draw breath after everything she's been through.

My gripes are still the same as they've been for the other book in this series. The editing still needs a lot of work. The storyline is very similar to earlier books also.

Of the books in the series that I've read, 'Shade's Fall' is definitely my favorite, so far. In comparison to earlier books, its sweeter and more heartfelt. I really enjoyed this one.

Thoughts on Shade's Fall....

Bloody hell, when are we gonna get a hero who loves his woman enough that he can live with a totally 1 on 1, keeping their sex private and personal, relationship. Slightly better than the previous three books, however.....

As much as the book had me sucked in, I had quite a few issues with it. When he was being sweet and lovable, Shade was pretty wonderful.... but there was a lot more than I'd like of him being far more a bully and control freak than loving dom. He wouldn't even let her have emotional reactions to things without jumping all over her if they weren't the reactions he wanted her to have... and then punishing her for them... how on earth is that healthy for her?, when she has to be on guard about her own surprise reactions in case he doesn't like them - no one can predict or control that.

Even though some of the stories have sucked me in, they leave me feeling slightly squeamish and rather a lot angry. These guys are falling for the these women precisely because they are so different from the club girls and then waste no time trying to turn them into club girls. Usually via coercion, surprise tactics and the my way or the highway treatment. I don't like it at all. I am getting a little desperate for a heroine to finally say "no, love and accept me the way I am, without all that or YOU take the highway" or for a hero to say "no, I want you the way you are, if I have you I don't want all that other icky-kinky crap."

Even their . It just didn't seem very well done in the loving/romantic sense.

As for him forcing her to watch, accept and be around the club kink too, I didn't like either. And , I really really didn't like. It just did NOT fit with either of their personalities and emotions regarding the other - Jeez, she's not allowed to even give a guy a kiss on the cheek . Plus it was sprung on her giving her no real choice. Their whole relationship is my way or the highway and a little too coercive for my liking, and it seems like she gives in to keep him.

Then the Bliss stuff, what a troublemaking little cow! I really want someone to have a come to Jesus meeting with her. What a nasty, spiteful, piece of work she is. Her nickname is Bliss because she's supposedly so sweet but she never struck me as particularly nice or sweet to the new heroines and she's been getting progressively snarkier and nastier with each book.I don't like her AT ALL. And none of the guys seem stand up for their women against her, I don't like that either. Strike-me-purple, will one you guys bloody well stand up for your woman against this bitchyness!! And also, her being so nasty to the women the men are falling in love with - isn't that showing disrespect to the guys as well?? - so really the number of people she's being "sweet" to is shrinking at a rapid rate

Isn't the free-for-all, no guilt, no jealousy, no judgements, group/voyeur, free choice thing supposed to be the club's creedo? Well I don't know if anyone else is thinking this, but I'm thinking that's all starting to go pear-shaped. 1) The guys are finding women who aren't into it - so not all of them are wanting to be part a smexual free-for-all, 2) the guys are still wanting it and are having to get slightly coercive to get those new women on board with it - so much for the free choice aspect, plus it's just plain creepy 3) family members are getting introduced - which makes it all a bit squicky 4) the club "bunnies" are starting to get snarky and jealous that they're missing out on some of the guys - so the guilt and jealousy factor is coming into play and 5) kids are starting to appear - surely that's gonna eventually change some attitudes too - do they really want their kids finding out their parents carry on like that... and when there's daughters around, seriously do you think these guys would want their daughters (or sons, but the ole double standard here, with daughters it'd be worse) to involved in this sort of lifestyle? - surely that's got to eventually play on their minds as well. Eventually, I just don't see how this free-smex thing is gonna be sustainable long term. And basically the no guilt, no jealousy, no judgments, free choice thing seems to ONLY apply to the members of the last riders - anyone else's ideals, beliefs, morals, choices, etc seems to not be respected or tolerated if it goes against what the last riders want.

It always struck me that the guys still having this deep seeded need and desire to 1) still REGULARLY watch other women have sex - other women that they've previously had sex with themselves and women who are the women the other guys are in love with (ewww - watching that is just creepy), and 2) having other men watch the women they supposedly love have sex with them and even join in sometimes, even after falling in love with and committing to these heroines, was a HUGE, ENORMOUS slap in the face of those heroines - it's basically saying "YOU'RE NOT ENOUGH for me". Plus it doesn't even have perhaps the "safety" of porn - knowing the heroes are watching it with the impersonality, the distance and disconnect of seeing strangers do it on video - it's live and right in their faces and very very personal, specially when for the heroines it's women they know their "heroes" have previously been with - and who still want to be with their men (and it's other new women who if not for the heroines being there, the "heroes" would be hoping to be doing more with than just watching)... so it's also an added continual reminder of that shoved in their faces. And it's also men watching them, sometimes more than just watching, probably hoping for more, stuff most of them don't really want but the men they love want it and that love is being taken advantage of and they're coerced into giving in to it... Which all makes it really creepy and sad and hurtful and inconsiderate and selfish.

I also find it difficult to believe in this thing where there's a church out there with a congregation of women who are pretty innocent (if not virginal), shy, modest and reserved all just dying for guys who want to introduce them to orgies, sharing, menage and voyeurism kink. We have 3 so far (Beth, Winter, Lily - Diamond seems to be the only one not part of the congregation) and it looks like we're gonna get a yet another one Nope, sorry - it's just plain ridiculous.... (unless Pastor Dean has secretly turned the church into some weird smex cult preparation ground!LOL).

Gah! I need to scrub my brain. I can return the book, but how do I get the hours back I spent reading sucky CRAP! There really wasn't any sort of story, unless you consider something a 7 year old would string together while playing action figures or Barbie. Lily was the worst h I think I've ever read and that's pretty bad. I've read some terribly bad stuff! Utter CRAP! Seriously .. Shade had maybe one or two redeeming moments, but not enough to save this one.

I'm in such a reading slump. I guess I'll go back and read something from last year that was good. God knows I haven't had much luck so far this year.

Believe me when I tell you .. THIS BOOK IS A TOTAL WASTE OF INK AND PAPER!

Hope you have a better experience than I.

Happy Reading!

Shade's Fall was an ok MC romance. There were elements I liked but the elements I didn't like tanked this romance.

What I liked- the MC culture full of alpha, edgy and seriously badass guys. The hero. He was possessive, dominate. The heroine. She was sweet in spite of her horrible childhood.

What I didn't like- the romance connection was a long and I mean long slow burn. Much of the book was the heroine denying her attraction to the hero. I'm no fan of instalust however the long slow burn build up was a huge fail. I didn't feel that lust/intense love connection especially from the heroine. I get she had child sexual abuse trauma but most of the book had her dealing with that and denying her feelings for the hero. The romance connection was denied too much.
I didn't like the smexing voyeurism. The hero and his MC brother smexed in the same room. The hero with the heroine and the MC brother with his wife. That seemed out of character for a hero who didn't want the heroine hugging his own brother.
I really didn't like the heroine being raped multiple times as a child. I'm not a fan of a hero or heroine being raped by others and child rape is something I really don't want to read about.
Last all the cast of characters became too much. I actually forgot who's who toward the end.

I've read other MC books done better. This one was ok.

Okay, so let me begin by saying I skipped the other books in this series and just read this one because from the reviews only this one appealed to me!

I loved this book so much, my heart is literally about to explode, Shade definitely deserves a book boyfriend award, he was super sweet with Lily and bent over backwards just to make her happy!

This story is about Shade and Lily. It starts off with Lily being in hospital, this is when Shades realises he needs Lily and he shouldn’t be wasting anymore time. The story carries on with Shade helping Lily with everything when she’s out of hospital, she’s not used to him at first because the only person Lily trusts is her sister (Beth) but this slowly changes because Shade takes baby steps with her. He eats lunch with her at first, then starts turning up to watch movies with her, basically taking small steps to become closer to her. She ends up living with him and the other bikers because someone is trying to kill her… in the beginning she doesn’t want to live there but slowly she becomes used to it. What I really liked it how Shade tried his best to make her happy and comfortable. If she was having problems, he would be the one to sort them out for her. This book has a lot of sweet moments and moments which made me laugh out loud, I adore them both so much.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, it’s one of my new favourites for this year! :)

I really, really tried to complete this book, I got over half-way, but the characters personalities were grating on me.

Shade is supposed to be an alpha male, but he's gone from alpha to a d*ck, if you excuse my language. I dislike him immensely, he's bossy to the point that he isn't hot, he's offensive.

I mean how the hell is this romantic - "Lily, now I've had every p*ssy in town that's not happily married or dead."

My thoughts - Wow, that really makes you want to drop your knickers, for a guy who considers it acceptable to say that, after her first sexual encounter. Reminding her of all the other women he has humped AND he practically forced her into it. Urgh! It made me angry!

Or this conversation -

Lily - "I plan to find me a man who can appreciate one woman."

Shade - "That's a joke."

"What do you mean by that?" Lily stopped bouncing.

"That you would ever let a man touch you. Tell me, how do you intend to catch a cowboy or any man when you have no intention of giving them anything? I bet Charles's balls are blue around you, but I'm sure he finds one of his daddy's waitresses to relieve him"

And Lily, although I can sympathise with her in parts, she's just frustrating. She whines a lot, a lot, A LOT, or she's running away, or she's screaming at Shade who's being a complete douche and yet allows him to get away with it AGAIN.

Every single person in this book I disliked, none of them had any redeeming qualities, I don't understand the 5 stars people have given, its been a struggle to even get where I am in the novel.

I admit defeat.

Rant over.

Cheyenne‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

3.5 Stars

Fans of Jamie Begley’s Last Rider’s series have been impatiently waiting for Shade and Lily’s story since we were introduced to them in Razer’s Ride. We have watched Shade want Lily while he was waiting for the right time to claim her as his own thinking that their story is going to be the one that actually sets our Kindles or Nooks on fire. Unfortunately in reality what we get is a watered down version that was filled with contradictions and made me feel at times that I was attending a Sunday Church service. Now before you all try to come and lynch me, I did like it but I did not love it like I have with the previous books. Also finding out that I should have read the books in her VIP series first because they tie into Shade’s Fall was irritating as well.

We all have known that Lily has issues. It was plain and obvious from the start that something happened to her that made her basically scared of her own shadow. She is a walking contradiction at times. Lily hates being around alcohol but yet is upset that she isn’t allowed in the clubhouse of The Last Riders, her dream man is a “cowboy” as a husband and have a family, yet she won’t have sex with anyone. One minute she is scared of bikers, the next she can walk right up and talk to one like he was a Pastor at a church. The list goes on and on. I was really hoping that Lily would come out of her shell and turn into that wild child that was sometimes hinted at in other books. That she would be worthy of being a Last Rider and her membership is never even brought up. When you learn what happens to her before she came into Beth’s family it is heart breaking and you understand better why she is the way she is. The way she moves past it just has my head shaking like really what did I just read.

Shade is still as sexy as hell but even he is tamed down and not at all the overly dominant man that he has been previously. He is still possessive and is dominant but I thought he would be a lot more by the way we have been lead to believe. In previous books you just know how sexual this man is, that if you spent time with him you would walk away very satisfied but in this one it’s like he is a shell of his previous self. I was waiting for some of those super-hot scenes that we are used to when getting votes for membership and here it’s quickly mentioned that he has markers for some votes but nothing is said about Lily officially joining. He goes after Lily finally in his own way, his approach at times had me rolling my eyes and asking what are they in Kindergarten?

Overall I am let down by Shade’s Fall, I had such high hopes and could not wait for this one to release and when I was finished reading I felt a sense of disappointment of being let down by a book that was just ok in my opinion. I hope that the next book in this series is back to the level that I have come to expect in this series.

Note from DiDi - I agree 100% with Cheyenne's review, but I give it 3 stars. Maybe I gave it lower because I DID read the VIP series before Shade's Fall and that OMG! part in TAINTED that ties into Shade's Fall in a major way, was really anti-climatic, it was like "Oh really? Ok." Three days after finishing the book and I am still disgusted with the way Shade treated Lily, I did love the way he pulled off that ONE special moment, but even that didn't really fit with the way he had been treating Lily. I was really disappointed in Shade and Lily's story, it just didn't live up to all the build up in the previous books. *Maybe SPOILER* I don't feel the scene with Lily, Diamond, Knox and Shade was true to Lily or Diamond's character, or even Shade's he couldn't stand for other men to even hug Lily, yet he had no issue with Knox seeing her naked?? Another HUGE issue for me was Lily's safe word - anyone with any minimal knowledge of BDSM knows the safe word is the most important aspect to the sub giving her trust. It means that ANYTIME she feels unsure, unsafe, pushed beyond her limits she can use it and her Dom automatically stops. Shade didn't allow this with punishments and I totally wanted to throw my Kindle across the room.****

And FFS I hope Ms. Begley gets rid of that cumdumpster Bliss, she is a troublemaker and always plays the "Oh I'm so sorry!" card when she gets caught!!! I have no interest at all in stories for Evie, Stori, Bliss or any of the female club members. I can't suspend my belief far enough to believe any man would let his woman continue to be around all the guys she screwed many times many ways. I have a hard enough time believing Winter, Diamond, Beth and Lily allow their men to still be around Evie and crew. Of course when the men straight out tell them that if they want to be with them they have to accept Evie and crew, I guess these women put up with it. Honestly I don't find Winter, Diamond, Beth or Lily to be strong leads, they give in to easy. The only females I feel are strong and I want stories for are the women in Sex Piston's crew. The whole way the women are voted into the Last Riders and the fact the old ladies/wives have to continue to interact with the Last Riders women club members, regardless of how the other women have hurt the old ladies/wives feelings is the one thing I hate about the series, but for some reason I just can't quit reading it. I really like Ms. Begley's VIP and Biker Bitches series better, the heroines are strong in both of those series.

Spoiler-ish!

I had been waiting for this book! Definitely my favorite of the Last Riders. I wish we read more from Shade's POV tho!

Also, the whole getting married thing happened out of nowhere, had they established a relationship? I think we all knew Shade loved Lily based on the other books, but I felt the wedding/relationship felt abit rushed. I would have liked to see them more as a couple before the wedding.

Also, I did hate the scene with Shade & Lily & Knox & Diamond :( I just felt it didn't fit with Lily's character and how possessive Shade was with her (no hugging any male)it made no sense.

Apparently I don’t like this as much as I thought I did.

Shade is a dirty manwhore who could not keep it in his pants while professing to be in love with Lily for years. The usual excuse of he was thinking of her while fucking so many ow for years. The author should have included some passage about him getting tested and quarantined first

Lily is a wet noodle. Sure she has this uber tragic and violent past and now she’s supposedly this super sweet and pure of heart wet noodle who farts rainbow puffs. Seriously, everyone who meets her supposedly sees such a beautiful model looking sweetheart.

Amazing! I love The Last Riders series! There is so much mystery, heartbreak and lots and lots of sex!

I know so many of us were waiting for Shade's story, and if you read the VIP series, which you should before reading this book or you're going to be scratching your head a bit, then this book was even more highly anticipated! The way Jamie interwove two series is so awesome. I know, reading the VIP series, that I did NOT see this coming! However, like so many times in Shade's Fall, I was kicking my own butt for not figuring things out!

Shade...what to say about that man? All I can say at this point is he is not one to mess around with. You do not tell Shade no. That man will not allow it. You think the other members were harsh? Shade is brutal!

Lily grows in this story, a lot. So much is revealed about her that you will never expect. Readers knew she had a tough childhood, but this book delves deep into the hows and whys she is the way she is—her fear of alcohol, her timidness, her sense of never belonging; it's all spelled out in this book.

Also, this book is probably twice as long as her other ones. It's a crazy, crazy journey full of jealous b****es, life threatening situations, a Dominant man, a broken girl, and a phenomenal shower! lmao! (had to mention the shower)

I'm just in awe over how Jamie brought everything together beautifully. Simply brilliant. I love surprises!

I hope we see more from The Last Riders. I would love to see what the future holds for all the members!

It kills me to give this book only 2 stars. I have been waiting for Shade and Lily's story for so long and I hate to say that I was severely disappointed .
It lacked the burning passion that shade had for lily in all the other Last Rider books. The build up was slow and dissapointing, there was no real passion no fire. It left me waiting so much. It was Anti climactic and fell flat!

I was also very dissapointed in the way that the author blended in her other series with this one. I am not a fan of the VIP Series, so I did not read the books. At times I was lost in the story because of the character appearances from that book. I get that this may be a way for the author to get all her material out there, but it's unfair to the readers to have to read something they don't want to just to figure out what's going on the story that they want to read. A back story or a bit of an explanation would have been nice to clue us in.

The ending was horrible and lacked in a big way. It skims over Shade and Lily and goes to Vida's story. I didn't wait for this book to read about Vida's child birth, sorry to say. It would have been nice if it was the story of Lily giving birth to her child or maybe Lily first revealing to Shade that she is pregnant..... Or just something more.

This story left me feeling cheated, it was missing everything that it build up to in the previous Last Rider Books.

3.5 Shade's story!

I really like this series and all these characters are starting to really grow on me!

Can't give it more than 3.5 stars though, this book wasn't as good as Knox's story. We've been seeing Shade around and I'm pretty sure all of us fell for the silent, tattooed biker and let me tell you, he's exactly how I wanted him to be.
He's absolutely great with Lilly, especially since she has her pretty dark past, so of course we see his sensitive side as well, which only makes him even hotter.

I'm sorry to say, Lilly wasn't the best female character I've seen and, though I understand why she is the way she is, I can't actually love her as much as I hoped.

Now though the ending made me so so curious about Lucky *cough* , think I'll go straight to that book. Can't wait!

I've been waiting for Shade and Lily's story since book 1! Unfortunately anticipation was better than reality in my case. I enjoyed it but didn't love it (or even really like it). This is why...

My knowledge of BDSM is fairly minimal but I wasn't happy to see

Considering how delicate Lily was I was fine w/ how slowly the physical relationship progressed. But I couldn't really feel the chemistry between the two of them in this book which made me sad b/c I've been waiting for their relationship to happen.

Shade was so incredibly possessive I was shocked

I would recommend reading "Sex Piston" before reading this book as an event in that book has a resounding impact on this one.

As for the series as a whole, obviously I enjoyed it b/c I read the books over the course of a few days but again had major problems that kept me from loving it.

I'm not into swinging and found that took me out of the books. It also really bothered me that these men once attached with their wives/SO continued to live in that environment. There is no way I would live around women my man had years of sexual history with. Bad enough seeing an ex at a restaurant or the theatre but everyday over breakfast? And multiple ex-partners? Not something I'm cool with.

I hate Bliss so much I would like Sex Piston and her friends to pay her a visit.

I felt the Christianity angle was strange. I enjoy Christian fiction. I enjoy sexy romance. I just don't enjoy them in the same book.

I have huge problems with keeping the heroines captive "for their own good". This really, really bothered me. And I felt in most cases they were shanghaied into sexual situations that made me uncomfortable. I'm not saying they shouldn't have happened but felt like a discussion before you get your friend's tongue in your woman would have been appreciated.

Lastly, I am still mad at Razer....yup, from all the way back in book 1. I kid you not. I want that man heartbroken and humiliated on the floor and working his ass off for some forgiveness before he gets his HEA. Kudos to the author for evoking that kind of emotion in this reader but I'm not sure this amount of negative emotion is good.

After saying all that I would read future books in this series in a hot second.

I read the first couple of books over a weekend a few weeks ago; they were an entertaining, quick read. I was really looking forward to this book, but it failed in a big way for me. I didn't actually recognise either Shade or Lily for most of the book. Shade had a non-presence that was astounding, considering the build up. He was quite a vivid character in the previous books, and the glimpses of his interaction with Lily were also memorable. I can't remember which book exactly, (I think it was Knox), but the scene where Lily cuts herself cleaning up glass, and Shade takes her to the bathroom to do first aid - that was intense, and hot. This entire book - not so much. It seemed a hot mess to me, as if it was put together using several different versions and so wasn't cohesive.

I will admit upfront I am not a fan of spanking as punishment, as opposed to spanking as foreplay. It just doesn't sit comfortably with me, so I will acknowledge that could also colour my overall enjoyment of the book. I love a possessive, Alpha male but most of the time Shade just came across as an insecure arsehole - telling Lily she couldn't touch/hug the other members, even the married ones? Really? The only human touching she gets is from him? Not all touch is sexual.

I also felt a lot of the story relating to Sawyer and Vida wasn't clearly explained; possibly because it was revealed in another series written by the author. However, I shouldn't have to get into an entire other series just to get basic information relating to a storyline I have already invested time and money in. A quick summary wouldn't go astray. The first mention of Sawyer had no backstory, no nothing, she just appeared.

I felt absolutely no connection between Shade and Lily, which was quite a feat since as mentioned above, I loved the little interactions between them in the previous books. One minute Shade is blackmailing her into staying with him by threatening Razer/Beth, the next she is in love with him and I couldn't see how she got there. The wedding was also odd to me, and very out of place. They barely seemed to be in any sort of relationship and the next thing he is proposing and she is accepting.

Anyway, this may have done it for me with this series - not sure who is next, but I am very wary. I just need to remember - I liked the first 3.

I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong. The book was good but it wasn't great. I've been dying for Shade and Lily's story since Razer's Ride. I guess my expectations were too high.

UPDATE: Reread 27-28 January 2021

Rereading the author's books in the order indicated by her while I wait for Gavin's third book.

Definitely the best so far!
I was curious about the way the author would develop the story. How our heroine being a traumatized woman would mingle with people who practice free sex?
Up to 40% of the book I was still trying to figure what was going to happen and the heroine was pissing me off, but then the story took off and really was very good.
I liked also the participation of characters from previous books, I think it enriched the story.
I can't wait to read about Pastor Dean ... it's going to be a great story.
I enjoyed and recommend!

UPDATE:

"He hadn’t known then that he was going to have to wait, but patience was his one and only virtue. He waited, planned and plotted to attain his prize, and Lily was a prize."

"No one was going to stand in his way when it came to claiming Lily."

"He planned to get Lily the way he would have taken on one of his missions in the SEALS. It was why, behind closed doors, he was known as the deadliest sniper in the US armed forces with over two-hundred–and-twenty-six confirmed kills."

He had been given the nickname Shade because of his ability to blend into the shadows, hitting his targets with cold-blooded precision that others considered impossible."

FUCK FEST!
"Rider was standing behind Bliss, his arm around her waist with his hand splayed across her bare stomach. Bliss’s face was filled with uninhibited excitement as she looked at Shade who was standing a few inches away, staring back at Bliss. Both men had expressions of desire written plainly across their faces."
"Evie came to an abrupt stop when she saw Lily. She wasn’t wearing a top and her blue jean shorts had been left unbuttoned. She moved to the side, obviously uncomfortable, and Rider came into view, walking up the steps without a shirt and wearing only his jeans. His hair was wet and his face froze at her expression. He moved to the side and Lily’s eyes met Shade’s. He had changed; his hair was just as wet, but he was dressed."

"He might fuck you all night, but no one sleeps beside him. Damn.”
“You’re giving up Shade’s bed? Are you crazy? He’s the only member who doesn’t let anyone sleep with him. Ever."

“You didn’t suffer waiting, did you, Shade? With a club full of women at your beck and call,” Lily snapped. “I am no saint. I’ve enjoyed every woman here at the club, but they weren’t you, Lily. Never you. I would fuck them for hours trying to get me through the night so I wouldn’t get on my bike and come for you.”
“I got to know too much. That you’re bossy, you’re mean, and you have sex with too many women.”

"He hadn’t touched a woman since he had almost lost her and had seen her lying on that hospital bed. The sight of her had made him come to the conclusion he couldn’t wait for her anymore. Lily needed him as much as he needed her."

QUESTION: She became taller in upcoming books, or is it just me?
"Willa was a pretty brunette who both Lily and Rachel had to glance down at because of her barely five-foot frame."

WALKING VAGINA STRIKES AGAIN!
“Yeah, I feel a little nauseous myself,” Winter commented with a warning look at Bliss, sitting across from her.
"Bliss was a very attractive woman with a sexuality that even she couldn’t help noticing. The men’s eyes were constantly on her and she wasn’t shy about returning their gaze."
"Beth’s lips tightened as Bliss took another French fry from Razer’s plate."
“Bliss doesn’t try to hide that you both have shared a relationship. She doesn’t want me here. She belongs here, I don’t.”
“Bliss likes to show off so it was a matter of time before you saw it, now that you’re living here.”

“You can open your eyes now, Lily. You’re home.”

"Sex Piston and her crew stopped in front of them. “Well, I’m glad someone finally had the sense to ask me for my fashion advice.”

"Sex Piston said, wiping the tears off her cheeks. “Beth, if I have a daughter, I’m sending her to live with you when she reaches puberty.”

“Lily, the only bed you’ll be in is the one I’m sleeping in.”
“What about when I snore?” “Angels don’t snore.”

I THINK SHE IS A STRONG WOMAN WHO MANAGED TO OVERCOME A TRAUMATIC PAST!
"She was determined to become stronger, both physically and emotionally."
"Her dream goal was really to be as strong as Sex Piston,"

BITCHES AND THEIR TWO CENTS...
"...men to have such large televisions. Jewell caught her amused gaze, correctly deciphering its cause. “It’s like their dicks, they think bigger is always better.”
“I think bigger is better, too,” Bliss said,"

“Sex Piston and Stud eloped this morning. They’re on their way to spend their honeymoon on Knox and Diamond’s island.”

SHARING ISN'T ALWAYS CARING...JUST SAYING...
"She rinsed her hair off and realized there were so many shampoos because all the women had used the bathroom."
“I’ll give you the money for everything. I don’t want to share anything with them, either. Not their clothes, not their shampoo, and certainly not you.”
“That robe belongs to Bliss. She didn’t need it because she doesn’t wear it.”
“The nightgown belongs to Raci. She sleeps in the nude, so she lent it to you.”

JERK!
“Lily, now I’ve had every pussy in town that’s not happily married or dead.” Lily slammed the door on his mocking words.

“I swore when you were in the hospital ER that I was done waiting. Everyone knew I was waiting for you but you. I’m still waiting,” he groaned against her neck."

Killyama was as fierce on the inside as she was on the outside. Lily actually liked that about her; she was loyal and she wouldn’t take anyone’s bull. Her best feature was the one that had saved her life—she would protect anyone she cared about.

SWOON!
“I love you. When I say it, I don’t say it lightly. I say it because when I look at you, I see an angel who God let slip through his fingers to leave behind just for me."
“Lily, you belong. You belong to me. You will always belong to me.” Shade walked up the steps, sweeping her up into his arms. “Always.”
“Lily, I didn’t know a man could love a woman as much as I love you. I don’t deserve you, but I’m never going to let you go. I couldn’t survive without you in my life. I wouldn’t want to.”

Lily turned her head to whisper in his ear, “I love you, John Hunter.”

BACKBONE!
"When Raci turned, Lily saw the back of the jacket and knew instantly whose it was. It was like a knife had been stabbed in her heart."
“Rider, it’s cold outside, and I left my jacket at the house. May I borrow yours?” Rider paled, his eyes going to Shade’s.
“Is there a problem?” she continued. “It’s not like your jackets mean anything, do they? It’s not like a wedding ring is it?
“I thought you men were all about sharing.”

“You are the woman I love. You’re my wife. I never put my ring on another woman. I never gave them my love. I never gave them me. Not once. Only to you, my wife, have I given myself to. Don’t you ever doubt that again.”

LOL!
"His president put his arm around his shoulder. “Don’t worry, Shade. It could be worse. You could be Train.”

Mixed emotions about this book. Quite a bit of time between this and Knox's Stand which surprised me.

I was really looking forward to this as much has been made of Shade's passion and longing for the pure and damaged Lily. It did not deliver as I hoped despite being a good read.

Shade has loved/lusted/had a thing for Lily for years. Lily is emotionally fragile and shut down due to some major, huge trauma in her past that has left her with several triggers: fear of the dark, such an aversion to alcohol that she can't be around anyone even drinking it, and a potential aversion to sex. This last part is especially unfortunate as her sister, Beth from Razer's Ride, is a huge part of the whole menage/sharing lifestyle of the Last Rider MC club. Lily knows nothing about this as Beth and Razer ditch her every Friday for the lust-filled Friday orgy and have not even invited her to their new house.

Sadly, while Shade has waited patiently several years for Lily to grow up, he has nailed everything with an XX chromosome at the MC clubhouse. In fact he is the worst man-whore there, and, believe me, that's saying something as I read Knox's book and he was no saint. On the flip side, it is hard to expect a male character to stay celibate for years with the possibility he may not get the girl as she is so damaged. No doubt he loves, her but... ick. To have the women that have slept with your guy around ALL THE TIME. No thank you.

This ick factor is one negative for me in the book. The second and actually bigger issue is how Shade woos Lily. He doesn't. She is injured; he's had enough, and he takes her in as his woman. Much is made of his patience, and it's true. He does not have sex with her forever, but he slowly creates a subtle master/sub situation that is both disturbing in a Stockholm syndrome kind of way as well as being erotic. It's the slowest seduction in the nature of Romancelandia, but odd. This development takes up a huge amount of the book, and felt slightly redundant and dragged out.

There is a backstory suspense story that pops up in the latter half of the book that speeds things along, but for all we are told about how much Shade adores Lily there was a disconnect between the two characters. Not to mention that this is the most unexciting MC club in the badass universe. Yeah, they have orgies etc, but they spend all their time at a factory filling orders. And filling orders. And filling more orders. Hey, I'm ready for a rumble or two. At least the Chaos gang makes cars. Cars..motorcyles...wheels...

This is scraping in at a 3. I am interested enough to read Shade, but not yet. I need a break.

Shade's Fall is aptly named, as the one biker hot guy that I've crushed on for the whole series, Shade, finally got a book and his hotness fell in my estimation. I think it was because his heroine was way too weak and worrisome to deal with. This story was tedious and at times, it just plain bored me. My interest in this author has fallen off.

I don't even want to give the reasons why, just to say that I'm done with this series. My thought is that its potential has plateaued. So, onward to read more.

I will be honest i have skimmed a lot cause there was nothing really entertaining (again!). The characters and the sex scenes were just so so .

To Ms Begley : you have a strange way to show your H's possessive side ... if you call that being possessive.

I should start by saying that I had VERY HIGH expectations for Shade's book! We kept getting teases of him and Lily throughout all the other books. Just tiny little teases that made me know pretty quick he was going to be my favorite character in this series. Tattoos galore, biker, enforcer, deadliest sniper in the US armed forces, quiet, possessive, dangerous, takes care of business, not afraid of anything, never had love like his love for Lily...all of these things make him a total DREAM in my eyes. I literally was shaking with excitement when I started the book and it never waned. Jamie kept my interest from first page to last page!! I highlighted like a crazy woman! I am adding this to my 2015 Favorites list! Read this series!!!!

And just because Stephen James is a PERFECT Shade I am including these TOO HOT gifs=)

A whole lot of sex, action and suspense going on in this book. Well written and very emotional.

“Brother, please. I can’t lose her. I’m not like you and the others. I can pretend I have emotions, but they’re not there for anyone. There’s nothing inside of me except shadows. Lily drives the shadows away. She feels everything she can’t even stand to crush a fucking flower under her foot and I don’t feel anything unless I’m with her, I can’t lose that. I waited so long for her, I’ve loved her for years; she’s only loved me for a few weeks.”

This series gets better and better with each book.

“You are the woman I love. You’re my wife. I never put my ring on another woman. I never gave them my love. I never gave them me. Not once. Only to you, my wife, have I given myself to. Don’t you ever doubt that again.”

Awful. Simply awful. I loathe this whole group sex thing, not my thing especially the whole thing with the men giving out membership, what vile nonsense. And what's with the stupid names? Sex Piston?? What the hell is that?
Also, this was actually just boring. No spark between Lily and Shade. Shade was an arrogant dick, while Lily's neuroses were just boring, boring boring. Oh my goodness. Awful!!!

I like MC books, I like dominant men in books and in real life but I just can't get over feeling let down with this series. When I read Razer's Ride I felt the premise was a little ridiculous. Beth and Lily are devout Christians, there is no way they are ok with a sex club. They really aren't a MC club, but more of a sex club that rides.

I didn't find Shade to be all that dominant. He was okay. Lily was really messed up but he was strong enough to stand by her side. She seriously needed therapy to get over her past. In the end it worked out but this seemed like role playing and I couldn't relate to the characters.

I think my favorite book of Jamie's is Sex Piston! That was a good book and different because the H was chasing after the h, and she was hot shit and she knew it.
