The Friend Zone: Chloe and Skye

Rate this book
The Friend Zone & More Than Friends has been combined to create a full novel.

Tormented by a past relationship that she can’t seem to escape, Chloe feels like her only option is to swear off men completely. Two years later, the self-imposed “man-ban” is still going strong, but then Skye walks back into her life. Skye left Bartow thirteen years ago an awkward, pimple-faced boy who didn’t quite fit in, but the man that returns evokes a white-hot fire of desire in her.

Chloe is the only woman Skye has ever loved and he’s not about to let her slip through his fingers again. She may want to put him in the friend zone, but he knows her desire for him is simmering just below the surface. Just when Skye thinks he’s finally broken down the walls of stone around Chloe’s heart, something happens that will leave them both devastated and broken. Are they strong enough to survive?

When I said that I don't really read blurbs, I made an exception on this one. I read its blurb before I signed up for the blog tour and I must say, it captured and lured me in. I, however, missed out the bit that says this is a New Adult title. I wouldn't know until the chapters toward the end though. And I tell you, I am now 24 but New Adult really isn't for me. I still have the kid inside and I'm accustomed to just reading Children's Lit to Young Adult and Chick Lit, with the exception of my Philippine Lit collection, and I read them just because I feel a certain connection with works written by my fellowmen, so when I learned that I'm faced with a task to read about intimacy and love making, I stopped for a while but then realized that I must go on for I never want to leave any book unfinished.

"Aw, how sweet. A man who blushes. I thought they were just mythical creatures."

This is a story of two individuals who could have been together in high school, only if situations are any better. It is written in changing points of view so as to take us into the minds of our main characters, Chloe and Skye. I like Chloe very much, she is the quintessential alpha female, strong-willed and confident. Skye though is your typical hot guy in the band, I can't fathom the fact that their band don't have a lead guitarist however. Changing POVs is the one thing I liked in Cohn and Levithan's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist which is one of my favorite books of all time, it didn't work that way in this book, unfortunately. It came to a point that it has become confusing. It didn't help that while changing the POVs, the book keeps repeating scenes previously narrated by the other main character. That might work for others but it didn't sit well with me. The changing POVs just served as an instant affirmation. Chloe is very confident to the point that she thinks that Skye is going crazy over her. Now, we have Skye's POV telling us what Chloe thinks is true. I don't know about you, but that's cheating to me. It's understandable when Chloe says Skye ignored all the 'desperate' women because of her, but when it's Skye turn to tell us the story and he refers to the women as desperate, all hell broke loose inside me.

"Rugged and tough, he's one of those people you either love or hate."

Another thing bothering me is the fact that Tom, Chloe's bestfriend is the character I like most in this book. Is it my underdog syndrome again or is it because the author built up a connection between them that you can't just help but root for them to end up with each other even the bestfriend-turned-lovers trope is everywhere nowadays. The way Chloe talks to Tom, the way she reprimands her bestfriend by calling him by his full name, even the time she said that Tom has been her savior more than once - these are things that actually makes a real relationship only to get crush by the way Chloe and Skye talks about Tom, making us think he's not straight.

I'm rating this with the New Adult market in mind, though. The steamy scenes I must say, is nothing but hot and if that's what you want then grab this right away. I'm giving this three stars for its potential. I think I'd like this more without the sizzling scenes, but maybe, just maybe, New Adult really isn't for me.

The Friend Zone by Tabetha Thompson held me in its grip the whole way. I was disappointed when I finished the book because I did not want the story to end. Chloe and Skye are the perfect pair. They both have pasts that they would rather forget. Skye has loved Chloe since high school. I love the way that the friends in the story interact with each other. They are quick with the good natured barbs and are quick to take up for each other. The reader will find themselves rooting for Skye as he tries to win Chloe over. The twist at the end, while not surprising, was also not expected.
It seemed like the story flew by like a movie that has you so engrossed that you lose track of time. There was no confusion or parts that had you scratching your head wondering what was going on…..well, just a little that lets you know there will be a next book. I give this book 4 stars **** and a standing ovation. I cannot say how much I enjoyed this book.

Chloe and Skye have known each other since high school. They ran in the same group of friends, but you wouldn't put these two in the category of close friends. Chloe thought Skye was a creeper with his all goth look. Skye on the other hand is completely smitten with Chloe. Just as Skye works up the nerve to ask Chloe to the prom, circumstances beyond his control force him away with his mother their senior year. Over a decade passes before the two meet up again. Skye is no longer an awkward teenager. So when they encounter again Chloe is immediately drawn to him. Chloe has had to deal with many hardships. The two quickly form a new bond, just as things start to look up for these two. The past jumps into they're present. This story was a roller coaster of emotions. I can't sum up what happens in a brief review. Honestly, I can't wait for the next installment in this series to be released.

This was a wonderful book. I fell in love with Chloe and the whole gang right away, well everyone but Todd. This book pulled me in, made me cry, laugh, smile, sad, happy, it brought out so many emotions. You have to read it. I loved Sally too, she made me smile and happy. I hated what happened and can't wait until the next one. YOU HAVE TO READ this!!! Such a sweet love story.

A fun quick sexy read. Intriguing story with great characters. It does contain a cliffhanger! Well written but does contain many grammatical errors and typos but the story makes it worth the read.

Review Originally Posted at: Book Freak

Chloe had been celibate for the past two years no thanks to her ex-boyfriend who traumatized her with regards to having relationships with the opposite sex. After getting out of a hellhole kind of relationship, there was no way she was getting into one – until Skye came into the BAR. She knew him then, but he was a quiet, shy, pimple-faced boy who didn’t really fit in, now he was oozing with sex appeal, sexiness exudes in him and he is in a band that now plays in the BAR, where she worked. Now, her self-imposed relationship ban seemed to be in-danger, because the looks they shared can set the BAR in flames.

He loved her since he was in his teens, and he had let her get away then. His shyness had made him unable to really talk to her back then. Now, after seeing her again, he knew he wouldn’t let her slip past him. She may be determined to keep him on the friend-zone, but he was determined to have her this time. He feels the chemistry brooding between them, and he’d be crazy to let her go this time.

Just when everything was going perfectly with the two, just when Chloe had given Skye the pass to go beyond The Friend Zone, a nightmare from the past came back and haunted her once again. Will their newfound relationship be strong enough to survive it?

The characters were pretty much interesting starting from Tom – Chloe’s platonic best friend who knows which buttons to push with regards to her. I may not agree with his type of lifestyle but he cares about her a lot and wants what was the best for Chloe. And there’s Sara – she’s one of Chloe’s closest friends as well who bright up the pages with her antics, and unpredictability. There is no doubt that she cares about her a whole lot, and she just wants her to be happy.

SHORT, STEAMY, SEXY, FUN with a sprinkle of SUSPENSE - The Friend Zone had the exact ingredients that I like when it comes to books. There was a dual POV which I really appreciate. I would have loved it more if it was continuous. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it, and I ended the book with my heart out of my chest eager and very much anticipating for the next one in the series.

I really liked Tabetha Thompson's THE FRIEND ZONE: CHLOE AND SKYE. It grabbed and kept my attention right from the first. I was happy to be caught up in the reunion of these two characters after not seeing each other for ten years and their love story. It was sweet thay Skye had held onto his love and his dream of being with Chloe all that time. He thought she was beautiful when they knew each other in high school and finds her even sexier now. He realizes what he let slip by ten years ago and isn't about to make that mistake again.

I loved that Chloe is floored when she sees him again because she remembers him as quiet and kind of awkward, and now he is all kinds of tall, smooth & sexy with a sultry voice and killer body she finds irresistible despite her two year moratorium on men. Chloe has had some seriously bad luck with men in the past ten years, especially with her most recent ex, Todd, and has serious trust issues. The only man she does trust is Tom, her boss, and friend since childhood who has also been friends with Skye since high school.

These two had some serious attraction and incredible chemistry which made all their scenes sizzle whether it be from the banter or the steamy sex. Ms. Thompson makes the scene's even more personal to the reader by alternating the POV between Skye and Chloe and giving us insight into their internal desires and struggles. They both have strong-willed and witty personalities and interact well not just together but with their friends, so there is some fun dialogue that brings quite a bit of humor to the story. Ms. Thompson also gives us some great secondary characters in their friends, Sara, Brady, Harley, Tom, Kasey, Crystal, and Anna, who I hope she intends to give their own story eventually.

There is also some major drama from Todd who feels Chloe is his and seeing her with Skye brings out his abusive possessive side. The book ends in a cliffhanger with the eruption of his violent jealousy, but the second novella, More Than Friends, is already available and is just as wonderful as The Friend Zone. Both are must-reads! 4 stars

I received a copy of The Friend Zone: Chloe and Skye in exchange for an honest review.

Chloe has been on a 'man-ban' for the past 2 years, after a destructive relationship with Todd. She's a private person, despite her personality at the bar that she works with, and really opens up only to her best friends Sarah and Tom. Tom hires a band and one of the members is a friend of theirs from high school, Skye. Skye has changed in so many ways since high school, but one thing has remained constant over the years and that's his feelings for Chloe. Feelings that she had never known about.

The night that Chloe sees Skye again after so many years, she's surprised to find herself attracted to him. And that night Todd is at the bar as well, and don't think that he didn't notice the chemistry between Chloe and Skye, which does not make him happy at all.
- - - - - - - - -

The Friend Zone was an interesting read for me. There were a few typographical errors in the copy I received, but really nothing that got in the way of the flow of the story. I loved the chemistry between Chloe and Skye and I especially loved Sarah, even if she doesn't have any kind of filter from her brain to her mouth. With Sarah, you always know exactly where things stand with her. Some of the scenes with just Chloe and Skye were downright steamy and I was happy to be a part of their journey as they begin to realize their feelings for each other, but I have to say I did not see the ending coming, until boom it was there and then boom, a cliffhanger. I'll be watching for book 2, which is due out soon to see what happens next.

The author's notes at the end were very eyeopening and after reading that the ending and the cliffhanger made complete sense! Thank you for sharing the story with me!

Tormented by a past relationship Chloe can’t seem to escape. She feels her only option is to write men off completely. Two years later the self imposed “man-ban” is still going strong. That’s until Skye walks back in to Chloe’s life. It’s been years since Chloe last saw Skye. When Tom her lifelong best friend told her that Skye’s band Escaped would be playing at BAR she didn’t expect the white hot fire of desire he evoked in her.
Skye left Bartow thirteen years ago an awkward, pimple faced boy who didn’t quite fit in. That is definitely not the person that showed up at BAR. Skye may have outgrown his awkwardness, but the feelings he hid from Chloe in school was now back tenfold.
As the music plays, tempers flare. Just when Skye thinks he has finally broken down the walls of stone around Chloe’s heart something happens that leave both of them devastated and broken. Are they strong enough to survive?

The story starts off good. We find Chloe running late for work, and her strong personality is on full display. Once she gets in she finds herself face to face with Skye the awkward loner from high school only now he's not awkward anymore. He's all tall dark and dripping with sexiness. It picks up pace rather quickly from there with steamy scenes from then on out. Only to drop us hard with a WTH cliffhanger.

I was hoping for a Happily Ever After but was left with a cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers. I'm looking forward to reading Chloe and Skye's conclusion and holding out hope for a HEA.

The footnote Tabetha gave at the end left me with a lump in my throat. The information she shares is very powerful and useful. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed reading The Friend Zone. I loved Chloe's character. She works at a bar owned by her best friend Tom. One day Chloe thinks she's showing a random band the ropes of the bar so they can set up to play. Turns out, one of the band members winds up being a former friend of Tom, named Skye.

Skye is nothing like Chloe remembered. He's all types of delicious now, and there's no hiding the attraction she has towards him. A past relationship that ended with Chloe in the hospital, leaves her wanting nothing from any guy, Skye included.

Skye on the other hand has loved Chloe since grade school; he just never had the courage to tell her. Now that he has the chance, he's not giving up until he has her!

The Friend Zone is a beautiful story of learning to trust and let go. Trying not to get caught up in holding onto your past, instead learning to believe that not everyone has bad intentions. Sometimes it's OK to let people in.

The Friend Zone was the start of Chloe and Skye's relationship, and leaves you wanting more. It was a fast paced read; I read the book in one sitting, and loved every second of it!! The Friend Zone is a well deserved 5 stars!!! Tabetha, you've gained a forever fan in me. I cant wait for more!!!!

Chloe and Tom are best of friends, their love for one another and their whitty back and forth is entertaining and a joy to read. When Skye comes back into their lives Chloe is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. I fell in love with the characters and the story did not disapoint and kept you enthralled from the start.

There is so much to this story that makes it hard to put down. From the music references and bad boy rockers to the hot chemistry between the characters, you can't help but want more and more. There is suspense, love, lust, and thrills-n-chills in this incredible storyline. Hidden factors you didn't see coming and and ending that will leave you ready for book two with tears and heartache.

A bit of a cliffhanger, but since book two is ready there is no reason to avoid this book! Watch for my review of book two and make sure you dont miss out on this romantic-suspense.

Right from the gate I loved the dynamic that Chloe and Tom had. I loved their banter and how comfortable they were around one another. This story had me pulled in from page one. Skye was a great name for the male "hero" and I liked how he did not try to swoop in and save Chloe, he just stood there and let her do her thing. The sex scenes were steamy but not over the top. The conversations flowed easily and were not stilted. I loved the fact that Chloe and Skye were able to connect after so many years and that he was able to be pushy but not be creeper weird. Also, I am not a country music afficianado, but I have started downloading some of the songs from the starts of the chapters and I am slowly becoming a fan!!!! I already one-clicked book number two and I hope that this series continues because I really like it!!!!

~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~

Chloe has been man free for a couple years because she was in a horrible relationship, until she opens her boss’s door and sets her eyes on Skye again after several years. Skye has loved Chloe since high school and once he sees her again he never wants to let her go and will do whatever it takes to make sure she is his. Chloe finally lets her well-constructed walls down and lets Skye in when her past comes back to haunt her.

Characters: The characters are well written and I could connect with them easily.

Sex: the chemistry between Chloe and Skye is so intense and the sex is so steamy!

Religious: no

Would I recommend to others: yes

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Romance

Would I read more by this author: yes

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This short, plot dense book kept my interest, and left me with a cliffhanger - I was very lucky that I had the next book to hand! The story is told mainly by the two main protagonists, Skye and Chloe, and at times the overlap in story telling is maybe too much. It soon gets so into the plot, that we need to see what is happening behind the scenes.

I liked the premise behind the story, and was happy that I could move straight onto the next in the series.

A fun quick read! I really enjoyed this book. It would make a perfect beach read. I love the story line of Skye first seeing and falling in love with Chloe at the dinner only to move away and still pine for her. Skye was a guitarists for the band Escaped who just so happen to be playing at the BAR. Chloe helped manage the BAR and couldn't keep her eyes off of Skye. it had been 10 years and my how he had changed in a good way. Skye was still head over hills for her but could Chloe give him the time of day. Only time would tell. Chloe did seem to like him but her old boyfriend Todd kept getting in the way. Can Skye and Chloe be more than friends? Pick up your copy today and find out!.

When it came to reading More Than Friends, the one thing I had, was that I was Very lucky to have all three books at my disposal so I could read book after book without having to stop and wait for the next one to come out! Reading Chloe and Skye's story from start to finish uninterrupted was nothing short of amazing. Tabetha Thompson truly has a way with words and she has written a Love story that is phenomenal in how REAL it was, there were so many elements of it that made it realistic, relatable and unique in it's passion. I'm all for reading New Adult Romance novels that take me away from my life and inject a true escapism style of plot, settings , and characters who are perfect in every sense, who then go on to have outrageous hot sex but these three novels were written with a unique blend of genuine feeling and honesty.

Chloe is a strong woman who is still running from her past which torments her emotions. Trying to stay strong she has put herself into a self imposed man ban, and she has been able to keep to it through the past two years since her relationship with Todd fell to pieces around her. Her two best friends Sarah and Tom support her, compliment her and also work with her at the bar she works in. Todd is the one who hires the band "Escaped" for the bar and when Chloe realizes that her old flame Skye is part of the band, she is interested to see what kind of person he has grown up to be. When she first sees him she is floored by the fact he is no longer the young spotty slim boy he used to be and in his place is a hot, sexy and yummy man that she is attracted to, something she never thought possible. It’s been years since Chloe last saw Skye and she never expected to have any reactions to him or attractions, she never expected Skye to be the one to shatter her resolve to forgo ANY relationship but he sweeps her off her feel with just one look. Skye ignites the fire in her belly, pours desire into her veins and make her knees go weak - 2 souls colliding as 1.

Skye left Bartow (their home town) thirteen years ago, with dreams of his own and it doesn't take long for him to grow out of his geekyness, awkwardness and younger looks, but the one thing he did keep hold of was the feelings he held in his heart for Chloe. Secretly for his entire school life he kept he feelings to himself knowing it was not the right time, not his time to shine, but when he sees Chloe at the bar where his band has been booked to work they explode outwards.

As the night progresses everything escalates and just when Skye and Chloe something devastating happens and their relationship. as tender as it is, only just beginning is tested........Can they get past it?.............Steamy, Sexy, Sultry and Seeped in Sex and the purity of captured and re-captured True Love only to be left on a hell of a cliffhanger!!!

This is the first book by Tabatha Thompson that I have read.

And I am so glad I did.

The moment I started this book I was sucked in.

Ok on to the good stuff......

Chloe and Skye are a perfect pair.

They both have pasts that they would rather forget.

Chloe works at a bar called the "BAR".

The owner is her best friend Tom form high school.

Chloe is a very private person and has trouble letting people in her life for the exception of her two best friends form school Sarah and Tom.

Chloe has been on a 'man-ban' for the past 2 years, after a destructive relationship with Todd.

Todd is a no good abusive bastard you will understand when you read it.

Tom decides to hire a band for the BAR.

The band is called Escaped and one of the members is a friend of theirs from high school, Skye.

Chloe had no idea who Tom hired and when she found out she was very surprised.

He was the friend that stood off to the sides and gave her the creeps because he always stared at her.

One thing is for sure he has changed since high school.

Skye was no longer an awkward, pimple faced boy who didn’t quite fit in.

And Chloe was not the fat girl in school.

Skye feelings for Chloe never faltered. It all came rushing back when he saw her. He has loved her since high school.

My feeling for her have never faded. She was my first love and I have a feeling she will be my last.

Those feelings were something she had never knew about.

This woman has no fucking clue how I feel about her or how long I have felt the way I do.

But that is all going to change. He was going to make her his. One way or another.

But one thing is for sure.....it is not going to be easy.

The sexually chemistry between Chloe and Skye OMG SMOKING!!!

Not over the top but just enough for the genre of the book. Perfect.

"Taste yourself, Chloe. Tell me if you taste half as good as you feel."

I want to keep Skye I absolutely loved him.

This book is a beautiful story of learning to trust and let go of your past.

Believing that not everyone has bad intentions when they want to get close.

That it is ok to let people in and trust again.

I love the fact that it is a friends that find one another again.

It was a fast paced read; I read the book in one sitting, and loved the story.

You will be left wanting more.....at least I am....so off to book 2 More Than Friends.

I'm looking forward to reading Chloe and Skye's conclusion.

Yes a cliffhanger but your in luck book 2 is out now and she is almost done with book 3.

Given to me by Author for a Honest Review.

I am glad she did.

Skye “That was the day I started believing in love at first sight.”

I was first drawn to reading More Than Friends by a post from the author describing the reason why she wrote the book. A beautiful dedication to a friend who, sadly, was not as fortunate as Chloe. It touched me deeply that the author wanted to honor her friend’s memory and I really wanted to read the series.

The series itself is a story of survival. Originally planned to be three books, the author made the decision to combine the first two books into one in More Than Friends and this strengthens the book significantly, in my opinion. The story is told in alternate POV’s between Skye, Chloe and her two best friends Sara and Tom.

Chloe is a young woman who has been in an emotional hiatus for the last two years after a disastrous and abusive relationship with her ex, Todd. Not willing to insert more drama and grief in her life, she steps back from dating. That is until sexy Skye from high school walks into BAR and takes her breath away. Gone was the gangly goth kid of their youth and in his place, a sexy guitarist with gorgeous green eyes and muscles galore. The heat between these two is instantaneous, even after not having seen one another in so long.

“The sound of his voice alone causes my heart rate to speed up. Looking over my right shoulder, I realize my lips are just a hairs breadth away from his. My gaze touches his soft, full mouth and his lips part slowly. I quickly shift my eyes to his but he’s staring intently at my mouth. Suddenly every person in the bar has disappeared and it’s just him and me in a sensual standoff.”

Wary of anything more, Chloe tries to put him in the friend zone but Skye is having none of that. He’s been in love with her since they were kids and he’s putting out all the stops when it comes to having her as his own. These are probably some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a while. Some of the funniest too.
I adore Sara and Chloe’s relationship. They are more than friends. They are sisters in the truest sense. It’s what most people wish for when they have a sibling. I can not wait to read more about Sara and Harley. Almost equal is her relationship with Tom who is the overprotective big brother type to Chloe.

When Chloe is attacked and her faith is tested, what begins is an emotional roller coaster that leads us into a hell of a cliffhanger that had me scrambling for the next book. This had me in knots and the conclusion, Forever and More is another great read.

“Every once in a while, life knocks us down, not because of karma or because of something you did but so you can learn from it.

I am rating this book at 4.5 stars but I must clarify it is because I read this as two different books. So I am going to review them separately..kind of.

The Friend Zone: I was immediately drawn into this story. I loved the characters and the setting of the book. I got completely immersed in the story and found it hard to put down. I don't like to re-tell stories in my reviews I like for you to get the full on experience when you read. I will say that this is a story of missed opportunities, living and loving again through a painful past and a story about moving on and healing. It is not completely just a love story either, there is some suspense involved as well.

My only complaint about The Friend Zone is the alternating POV. I am huge fan of alternating POV's but I felt in this book it could have been executed a little better rather than re-reading exactly what I just read.

More Than Friends: This book picks up exactly where The Friend Zone left off, which I love. There is no reading back and trying to fill in months or years that passed. I could immediately see the growth and improvement of the author from one book to the next which I think is huge!

In this book we get to see the relationship between Chloe and Skye really develop. While TFZ was more about healing emotionally and trusting physically, this one is about healing physically and trusting emotionally. There is also plenty of suspense along with a love story and some hot scenes!

I have to say I was really impressed not only with the stories but also with the author. It is rare to see as much growth between one book to the next but it was almost like reading a different author. Not that the first one was bad but where I felt she struggled a bit with alternating POV's in the first book she nailed it in the second one. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat and trying to solve the puzzle the whole time.

There were many others who enjoyed this book and it seems that I'm in the minority, so I'll keep it short.

What I didn't like:
1) The writing. I found it very disjointed. There were no transitions from one scene to the next. Sometimes the next scene the author writes occurred in the past, but she doesn't give you any indication of this before the scene begins. She just launches right into it. The switching back and forth between the present and the past was also pretty annoying. It was hard to get into the story and develop a reading rhythm with the constant changes.

We also hear the povs of several of the secondary characters toward the end of the story. There were too many povs going on for the story to gain any real traction. The writing was also riddled with grammatical errors. Major editing is needed. The dialogue is also too OTT. Do people really talk like that to each IRL? With so many exclamations?!!!!! The author reveals a lot to us through telling, not showing.

2) I needed more character development. The love between the characters develops too quickly. I'm not one to discount insta-love right off the bat, as long as the chemistry is believable between the characters. However, all Chloe has to do is see Skye for the first time after a decade and she's in love with him? That's called insta-lust, honey, not love. The dialogue was too sappy. Skye was sweet, but there wasn't any real character development. Maybe there will be in the next novella?

3) I couldn't get over the name of Skye for a man. It just struck me as odd.

Wow when I started this book I thought it was going to be a easy love story boy meets girl again they fall in love the end. Boy was I so very wrong. This book is a fast paced love story. I loved Skye from the beginning! He has loved Chloe from the first moment he saw her in high school. They spend a lot of time together within their group of friends but never get really close because Skye is scared to approach her. He is forced to move away but returns several years later when his band decides to become the house band at BAR (for some reason I love this name) where Chloe is the manager and their mutual friend Tom owns. There is an instant attraction when they meet. Fireworks explode!!Chloe has sworn off men after her last relationship left her emotionally and physically drained. She doesn't want to like Skye but she does more then she lets on. Things explode later in the night between the two. Skye breaks down Chloe's walls very quickly and she finally decides he is worth the chance. Then things take a turn for the worse. This is a story of reconnection, love, hope, and fear. Lots of traumatic things happen throughout the book and you get the feeling someone is always in the shadows and there are secrets surrounding chloe and Skye's friends. There is a cliffhanger but book two is out and it is more emotional and heart wrenching then this one. So my quick easy read turned me into a blubbering mess! But I loved every second of it!

My Review
2/5 stars
Gah! The synopsis was beautiful and I was really excited to read this book because it sounded like an epic love story, but as soon as I started I realized this book was just not for me. Somehow I missed the part where it said the book was New Adult and when I discovered that, I braced myself for impact.

The cursing in this book made me cringe, but I tried to ignore it because that's really a subjective thing. I didn't get the connection between Chloe and Skye (that's a totally dreamy name though). It seemed that it was based more on physical stuff than emotional. I think there were definitely some funny moments in there, but I guess I got distracted by how explicit some of the scenes were.

If I take away the cursing and all the scenes that were way too raunchy for me to read, this book would be about Skye trying to break down the walls of the troubled Chloe. Skye being so protective of her was a definite plus. I loved that part. Any guy that defends a girl from an abuser is a hero in my book. The author's writing style was also easy to read and the language flowed very well.

The rating is so low because the book just wasn't for me, but maybe if you're into New Adult Romance you'll like it. It's just not my type of thing.

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY! First I have to say that I hate how Tabetha came by her knowledge on the abuse that was written in this book that the main character Chloe suffered and that of the people around those who are being abused. I am sorry you lost your friend to such a horrible way and I think it was wonderful of you to put links in the back for anyone who suffers from an abused partner. The Review: I loved Friend Zone, enjoyed how each chapter started out with the song lyrics, that was neat. The book grabs you instantly, starting out quick with the main characters already having a bit of a background together, the hero of the book having always loved our main character since they were in High School, so it was perfectly executed that they would immediately get "involved" with each other so quick. It made for a better read, not having to spend ten chapters of the couple just getting to know each other, which most find slow and boring, waiting for the book to pick up between the two characters. This one was great right from the first page--and I have to say, OMG, I love Tabetha's sense of humor and found many moments between the two cute and funny. Friend zone is definitely a memorable read and one you'll not ever regret spending the time reading. Luv Luv Luvd it!

I really enjoyed this series by Tabetha Thompson.
The story is about Chloe and Skye. Chloe and Skye were close years ago in school but now years later the pair are reunited when Skye’s band lands a gig in the bar which Chloe’s friend owns and Chloe also works in the bar. There is instant chemistry between the pair but Chloe is sworn off men due to a bad experience in a previous relationship.
I really enjoyed these books. There were lots of twists and turns and lots of drama throughout. I loved that we got the different POV as it really added different perspectives to the story. The author does a really good job of expressing the characters emotions especially Chloe as her emotions really changed from book 1 to book 2- Forever and more. I could really feel Chloe’s emotional turmoil in Forever and More. I am so glad that I had both books to read back to back as the first had a OMG cliff-hanger ending.
These books are a great story of Love to pain and back again. They made me smile, laugh and cry. They are beautifully written by the author and once I started wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. I look forward to reading future books by Tabetha Thompson.

Chloe is the manager of a bar that is owned by her best friend, Tom. She had a bad past relationship and decided to go on a "man-ban". But that has been two years now! Tom tells Chloe that a band is playing that night to try out to possibly be their house band. The band is called Escaped and their friend from middle school, Skye, is in the band. Skye has loved Chloe since they first met years ago so when the band is hired Skye wants Chloe to know how he feels and Chloe's man-ban goes out the window.

I liked getting both Chloe and Skye's POV. It helped the reader understand what was really happening in each scene. The first two sex scenes between this couple didn't feel right to me. Since Skye (at least) wanted a relationship with Chloe, I think their first sexual encounters should have reflected his feelings more. What I got from the first sex scene was that Skye just wanted to make Chloe happy which was understandable but I thought he could have done that and also shown her how he felt about her. I was so shocked by the sudden ending that I actually said out loud, "What? Is that it?"
