Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

I loved the book!
Angel loves Luke, but she won't make him choose.
She wants him to be happy.
Luke loves Angel, but he doesn't know what to do.
How can he choose between his dream or love.
I loved the storytelling + the characters.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is the first novel in a new series of Summer Lake, and what a fantastic introduction it is! Angel and Luke finally get together when he steps up to the plate when she needs him most. It is great to catch up with some of my favorite characters. Will Luke and Angel be able to overcome their pasts in order to be together? Will career choices be the end of them? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which has me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this awesome series, hopefully Clay’s story! I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all readers!

Angel has been growing on me as a character but I have to say, I loved this book with her and Luke. I’m glad they finally got a chance to spend time and be together, but how they got that chance was a sad situation. He stepped up and was there for her when she needed him and they learned about each other’s pasts which was very interesting and I really felt for Angel with her past and her relationship with her parents. As usual, I enjoyed seeing some of our friends we’ve gotten to know and love and I was elated with Pete and Holly’s update. Of course Clay also played a huge part in this book; I’m hoping he’ll get his book soon. Can’t wait to pack my bags for another trip back to the lake.

This is such a sweet book. I fell in love with Luke! He is such a good guy that made me feel good and knew he would be upbeat and there when you need him. I was so glad to see Angel finally give him a chance even though the circumstances bringing together were not too good. I liked that Angel looked the naysayers that thought she was using Luke in the eye and told them exactly how she felt about Luke. There are so many good people living in their small town especially their good friends. I always love catching up with characters from past books. This is a good book that I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

There’s nothing like a visit to Summer Lake, and it was a great way to kick off SJ’s new series, Summer Lake Seasons.
I loved this book and I think you will too, because Angel is shown in a new light than she was in Ben and Charlie’s story. Luke is living his dream of being a pilot but his ambition to fly a corporate jet might just derail his budding relationship with Angel.
While following their struggle to be together, you can get to know a few new characters and get reacquainted with some old favorites.
This book was given to me as an advance review copy.

Smiling, I just came home from a little getaway at the Lake. Summerlake is my favorite place to hide from the real world and helps me forget my troubles for a while. Read the dedication and you'll understand why...

Luke is just a regular guy, no rockstar or miljonair, just a good, normal, decent man.
No that's not boring in the end that's what we all want, isn't it?

If you've red Ben's story you might not like Angel. Just give her a chance, you'll love her, she's wonderful!

This started off as a difficult read. The formatting is not my favorite and the text was just so cheesy. About halfway through it got better as characters were more developed. The intimate scenes though were a bit cringy.

My New Favorite Romance Writer!

Take These Broken Wings by SJ McCoy is another great romance set in what is becoming my most loved fictional destination, Summer Lake. This novel is book 1 in a spin off series Summer Lake and features many characters from the original series. I can attest, however, that this is a stand alone novel, as I read Take These Broken Wings before finishing the other Summer Lake series. SJ McCoy does such an awesome job of weaving the back story into her current novel, I ,never wondered about the how the characters connected. I loved the novels I read from the Summer Lake series and found Take These Broken Wings to be an excellent start to the new Summer Lake Seasons series!
I have come to love all of SJ McCoy's creative works. Her characters are well-developed, displaying a depth of feelings as real as if they were your neighbors. She is a genius storyteller. She places her characters into dilemmas that seem insurmountable. Then just when you believe all is lost, SJ creates the perfect solution. Everyone lives happily ever after, a must for every good romance novel. Take These Broken Wings, has some steamy love scenes, but I love how SJ McCoy balances this with sweet fun romance. After all there is more to strong relationships than sex, correct? And the residents of Summer Lake have fun together. It makes me wish I could live there! And that is why SJ McCoy is on my favorite Romance Writer list!
Honestly, I have never read a SJ McCoy book I disliked. And I am sure you will love her books as I have!

This is the start of the summer lake season.

This book is the story of Angel and Luke who have appeared in previous Summer Lake stories. Angel works at the new resort and Luke is a pilot working at the local airport both have big dreams which make it hard for them to be in a relationship but that doesn’t stop them from wanting it.

Following an accident where Angel is left with a broken arm and nobody to look after her Luke steps in and volunteers to stay with her to make sure she recovers from her injuries only for their romance to finally have the chance to blossom.

Angel works long hours at the new resort and doesn’t have much time for anything else but the accident makes her take stock and see what she’s missing, Luke is a pilot with big ideas he wants to work as a private pilot but the chances of that happening and him still being able to live in Summer Lake are not looking likely when such opportunity comes along Luke and Angel have to decide if they can give the long distance romance a go or to go their separate ways.

This book really touched me, I could empathise well how this person felt. I just loved the way these two wrap themselves around their lives and make a way. The moral of the story for me is times change and it will work if you want it too, but you have to forgive and take everyone into account. I loved this book it is quickly read if your an avid fan and reader but I like to take my time. I have another to read and this author has another coming out soon too. Many are waiting on that one. There is another 13 books before and they are all awesome. I started with the free trio to start Love like you have never been hurt and I cannot put a book down and I struggle to read. There is hot and steamy bits but this author writes about characters and has a good easy follow storyline to get your page turning. It did it for me. I struggle to read but somehow I want to get to know the characters. Its like a lot of families and you are getting to know them and care for them all.

I received an arc copy of this book for an honest review.
Luke and Angels story has been a long time coming.
Set In Summer Lake, we have seen snippets of both characters in the last few books.
Luke is a pilot and Angel is a resort manager.
After chasing Angel for a year and continuously getting rejected Luke gave up.
But after Angel had an accident which left her needing help Luke stepped in and as they say the rest is history.
Beautifully written story of two wonderful people who deserve a happy ever after.
This book can be read as part of the other series or as a stand alone, personally I like catching up with old friends, so would advice reading them all, you won’t be disappointed.
Well done SJ MCCoy, another great book.

Love me some SJ McCoy; she never disappoints me! I really wasn't looking forward to this book about Angel. I didn't like her from the moment she entered the plot. With that said, I know that an author/producer (book/movie) has done their job, when I don't like a character. And McCoy does her job very well...

I love that I can jump into a McCoy book, and be lost for hours and feel like I'm picking up with a few of my best friends. I have a connection to McCoy because I've lived in the area where all her books are set (Montana, California... now you gotta bring the deep south in SJ). I only wish the stories would never end... but in a way, I guess they don't and I'm sure I would appreciate them as much.

You're a star SJ! A true gem... thank you for letting all the awesomness come out!

A visit to Summer Lake is like a lovely warm hug! I’ve read all of SJ’s books and loved them all, but as much as I enjoy the Montana cowboys and the Davenports, there’s just something about Sumner Lake that is a pure escapism. This book has it all - a handsome pilot and a beautiful workaholic who are like a modern day version of star crossed lovers. There are also plenty of mentions of old favourites and new characters introduced who are just begging to have their story told. Logan in particular intrigued me. A fabulous love story beautifully told as always.

Hello Summer Lake - my old friend!! If this is your first visit you will not be disappointed. SJ McCoy has delivered another heartwarming and romantic taste of love conquering all. This is the first in the series based on the pilots and we are soaring high watching the love develop through Luke and Angel. We have had glimpses in both these characters in previous Summer Lakes books but it was time their story was told. I will not add any spoilers in this review but cannot wait to see how this series develops. Bravo SJ!! You're flying high with this group of aviators!!!

SJ takes us back to the lake with Angel & Luke. Luke is a pilot and Angel is the manager of the lodge. Luke has asked Angel out in the past and she’s refused, she’s now realized she may have lost her chance when she’s in an accident. Luke helps her get back on her feet and through that they start to see that maybe they can build something beautiful. Luke gets a job that takes him away from the lake; will long distance work, will Luke’s employer Clay bring him back to the lake and back to Angel for good. Loved Luke & Angel.

It was great to be back in Summer Lake again. It’s such a calm, loving and healing place, I wish I could visit.

I was hoping Angel would get her happily ever after after meeting her in the previous series. Her and Luke together are perfect, I love ho he wanted to look after and protect her, not because of a sense of duty but simply because it made him happy to please her.
I loved the new characters introduced, I can’t wait to read their stories, and I’m so looking forward to the silver fox series. 😊

This was a wonderful, easy and enchanting read, where the Luke finally got his Angel to hold on to for the rest of his life. Summer Lake gives me all the feels.. and this novel did not disappoint. The would they or wouldn't they be together just ramped up the conflict factor for me, but in an enjoyable way and the plot, although over arching was predictable, the manner in which it unfolded wasn't. I cannot wait to read Zack's takedown. :)

Was great to get back to a familiar setting, as this book starts a new series based where SJ McCoy's first series was located. We also get sneak peak at some old characters too. That said you could read this book as a stand alone. Sweet and smile this story falls into place for the main characters, Luke and Angel have had a slow start but when they finally get together they are all in!

Yet another winner from SJ!

Another blockbuster by S J !!!

Gripped from the first page as usual, drawn in by characters that seem like old friends and family. This new series follows on seamlessly from the other series either set in Summer Lake, Montana or Napa Valley as the same characters weave in and out of all the story lines, once read can't stop reading them! Waiting now, impatiently, for the next book!!!!!

Welcome back to The Lake. Angel has settled in and doing well. Luke is doing well at the flight school and looking toward his next level to his career. They’ve been circling each other for a while but just couldn’t seem to make it happen. Angel has a situation to happen where she needs someone to help her with her daily needs and Luke is the one who steps up to help. All the Summer Lake people are there to watch their love bloom, come join them.

Brilliant

Oh what a lucky lady Angel is Lake is thoughtful caring loving sensitive and gorgeous. Just what every women wants. Angel and Luke are meant to be. I feel for Angel that her parents were not as caring as their daughter. I'm sure this love story will just grow and hopefully spread to all those other lovely people at the lakes.....Logan's story would be interesting. Hugs SJ XX

Review of Take These Broken Wings

If you love steamy romances with sexy heroes and heroines with drama before they get their HEA you will love this book. It is a stand alone book but features some of the characters from the Summer Lake series and the Summer Lake Silver series. Will Luke take his dream job and move from California to Tennessee? Will Angel give up her dream to follow him? Will the long distance romance work out? Read the book and find out.

3.75⭐

Take These Broken Wings was a sweet story that had a mix of old and new characters and a romance that was easy to read. However, I did struggle to connect with it and particularly to Luke and Angel. Whose romance for me fell a little flat. But it was engaging and I certainly enjoyed catching up with some of the Summer Lake gang. And it honestly hasn't put me off reading more from this series in the future.

Having read all of SJ McCoy's books, I was not sure if I would be able to root for Angel in this book. That said, SJ McCoy made it happen again. I wanted Angel to have her happily ever after and Luke deserved happiness too. They both were following their dreams with their careers, but would it come at a cost of love?

If you are considering reading this book, you will not be disappointed!

the story builds around Luke, pilot, and Angel, who works in an office in the city, formerly engaged to Ben who is now back together with his highschool sweetheart Charlotte....okay, it keeps going on like that. It reminds me of one of those endless soaps that keep centered on the romantic involvement of a group of friends in variable constellations.

Who would think an accident would be the best day of your life

Luke and Angel have had eyes for each other for over a year. They both thought it had been too long. Nothing would come of it. Then a truck to once Angel's car and left the scene.
SJ McCoy weaves a wonderful story with well developed characters. She is always a joy to read.
